Synopsis

With the divorce of his parents, seven-year-old Koyomi Hidaka makes the important decision to live with his father. As a researcher at the Japanese Institute of Virtual Science, Koyomi's father is involved in the investigation of the phenomenon of parallel worlds. Through his father's job, the young boy meets Shiori Satou, the daughter of another divorced researcher. Soon becoming friends, the two spend much of their childhood together.

As Koyomi and Shiori grow closer together over the years, the two intend to marry in the future. However, their plan comes to a halt when their parents decide to marry each other. Now fated to being step-siblings, the two friends refuse to accept their new reality. Using their parents' research, Koyomi and Shiori escape to a parallel world to start their lives anew together, only to face repercussions that will put the very futures they strove for in danger.

TLDR: If you could ignore the sci-fi elements, and some cheesy plot, this is really a good one. The voice acting and visual is okay, and the emotion is well conveyed.

This review could be biased, since i get a really heartmelting impression off the movie.

First of all, i wanna clarify that i'm already committed onto ignoring every sci-fi element in the movie from the beginning, since i presumed the elements itself would be of a cliche (and that's what actually happened). I expected the movie to be just, a drama, though i still expect it to be good.

I believe commentary regarding the sci-fi mechanism have ...

Mixed Feelings
I like this type of anime where the story unfolds slowly and you get the answers of the questions that you asked while watching. Also this anime is full of hidden clues. So try to remember every seen. Trust me, it will help you to fill the story & to better understand it.
The art style was very good, the character building was on point, the story telling is good. The science explanation was understandable.
Those who love science fiction & love romance anime with cute couple then this is the one.
But you need to watch the 2nd part(prequel) to understand it fully. Don't skip the 1st ...

[Excluding the second movie from this review]

The movie demonstrates an overarching issue endemic to the Japanese industry. While it brings forward intricate and distinctive narratives, there is a noticeable lack in proficient storytelling. The show-runner endeavour to entwine romance and emotional depth to invest the audience in a premise that derives its uniqueness from the Sci-Fi element - despite this foundation not being an innovation.

Unfortunately, the movie leans excessively on the combination of these two genres as a mechanism to captivate the audience. It doesn't succeed in independently immersing the viewer through a compelling narrative. The characterisation formula overly relies on emotional catalysts to prompt ...
