Manga 146211 Marriagetoxin Suggestion

I’m only 9 chapters in, but Marriagetoxin has a well developed storyline and good pacing. That’s the cliff notes version, now into greater detail.

Marriagetoxin is about Hikaru Gero, an assassin for hire of the poison clan, who has to get married to succeed said clan. He does so reluctantly because the clans’ other option is his sister who is already in a relationship with another woman. He is however pretty woeful when interacting with women, and with persistence enlist the help of Mei Kinosaki to aid him in his search for a wife.

This has been a very relatable and intense yet ... lighthearted read thus far. For me the most important factor in any story is the characters and they are very well written. I personally like the MC and how he’s this badass assassin but horrible with the opposite sex. I know it’s not the most original of tropes, but his complexities are unique to him. Our main duo Gero and Kinosaki bounce off each other so well you’d think they might have been buddies for years. The only real “side” characters introduced so far is Ushio, a water user from the water clan, and Himekawa, Gero’s first wife candidate. Another positive for me is the themes blend so well. Aside from it being an action and romance, it has a bit of mystery, comedy, and drama that integrate appropriately with the story.
If you like the romance and action genre’s, give this a read.

Okay so after catching up quite a bit, I can say the manga maintain its pace and intense action. It is a bit formulaic, as by the start of the Wind-Wheel Users/Family Bond arc you can pretty much predict the conflict and course of action. Personally this doesn’t detract from the story but if you feel it gets repetitive around chapter 30 I’d say that’s a fair argument. Still definitely worth a read.

Marriagetoxin is an ongoing manga that's an absolute joy to read and it needs more recognition, please give it a chance!

The art is extremely solid, if not fantastic. The panels are stuffed with details that are easy to miss if you're flying through the material, but they do so much to elevate the work as a whole—the amount of care and attention put into this aspect is actually impressive. Action scenes are crisp, easy to follow, and never boring to look at.

The characters, while not anything extraordinary, are strong. It's quite difficult not to fall in love with Gero's character when watching him navigate ... talking to women, only for him deliver the most unintentionally out-of-place response imaginable. His chemistry with Kinosaki is nothing short of brilliant—they play off of each other really well, and it's always funny. Comedy in this series is absurd to the fullest (almost in a Baki sort of way, but without the body horror). From a thug who spits lead boba at his enemies, to that time a character carved an ENTIRE violin out of a tree, only to immediately throw it at Gero, wasting his craftsmanship...absurdity is found around every corner.

The plot isn't pushing any new boundaries either, but it doesn't have too if the characters keep managing to be as fun/entertaining as they have been. All in all, Marriagetoxin deserves a read and I could not recommend it enough.

A unfound gem wouldn't be a half bad way to describe MarriageToxin.

MarriageToxin focus’s on two characters a killer you cant help to adore and a adorable goofy femboy and they handle them perfectly. I don't see realistic relationships much in manga but this is definitely a exception as their bond growing and motivation truly did make sense and was enjoyable to watch.

The battle system is fairly creative and enjoyable not bound by many set rules which makes it fun to watch and gives it a nice vibe that makes it feel free.

Naturally this isn't the most serious manga and it really doesn't have to be ... just watching a goofy lil femboy taking all the attention so his friend can get a date is just really fun and entertaining and kinda makes it disappointing when its eventually over.

In the end this manga is filled with childlike freedom and fun if you want a chill read about two buds, a serious action manga or a romcom MarriageToxin may be the manga for you.
