Anime 1608 Salaryman Kintarou

Firstly, this anime is not for everybody, this is a Seinen,and a real one, this is not only about Blood and more blood, like everybody thinks a Seinen must have. This is the story of a simple man, an amazing man fighting for survive and for a better life to his family. It sounds kind of heroic, but it's exactly like that.

If you have watched GTO, and you've liked it, you'll love this one. I'll analyze some parts:

The story is amazing, you'll like every single part of it, because you have a lot of stories in it. You only can watch the businessman story, the ... flashbacks, the romance story, the conspiracy...seriously, amazing. It's one of the best plot I've ever seen in an anime, why? Because it's realistic, there are no angels, demons, mages or wizards, there is just one thing which keeps the world moving: Money. And this single man, will fight with only his reputation and his hardworking.

This is not a new series, It has some bad feeling on the art. Furthermore, the way the characters are designed, is very interesting, they look like real japanese, I dont usually like the anime where there at least five blond guys who are "japanese"...

Anything remarkable at it, not bad, not excellent. It wont disturb you.

Here is the story relies it power. Like I said, THIS IS A SEINEN, we dont have a laim protagonist and pathetic who is a wimp, but we dont have either the perfect guy... We have one of the best main characters I've ever seen, it's almost at the level of Onizuka. Why? He keeps changing, improving or getting worse, he is wrong or right, he has his own moral but he also knows when to be quiet...He is a guy who despite losing his lover, follows liking women, and he treats them as a real man should not as a wimp. (In this, he wins over Onizuka). He has a patternal side also...Seriously, amazing.
On the other side, we have several badass, a manipulating "Oba sama", an amazing female lover (OH MY GOD, I felt in love with her when I see her), a boy who acts as a boy, a funny workmate, a lot of funny ex-riders...
For me the story is a 10 only because of its complex net of characters.


The enjoyment is something subjective as everything else, but what I can assure you is : This is not a waste of time, this is worthy.
And for me is:

An amazing Anime.

Salaryman Kintaro tells the story of a former bike gang leader entering society as a businessman, starting from bellow his charismatic personality quickly creates bonds of respect and admiration with co-workers and important figures in the bureaucratic world. Honest, straightforward and always true to his nature he dashes through his career raising fast and steady.
His personality clashes with several individuals and the few who don't sympathize with his nature in a corrupt bureaucratic world create many obstacles he needs to face.
The story is about morals and how a single man can raise through hard work in a field hes inexperienced, features some comic ... moments but is mostly serious, the dramatic scenes are abusively exaggerated ruining the involvement in the story, grown men crying like babies over small issues tries to display how deep their feelings are for each other, witch is impossible in such short time, leaving a phony feeling in those scenes.
The music doesn't help much, old japanese classic themed music doesn't create the intended effect feeling misplaced and badly chosen, at least for the ocidental viewer like myself, I suspect it was more appropriate for the japanese viewers.
Despite its shortcomings you still want to see what will happen ahead keeping you interested throughout the show.

Overall its an entertaining show with some nice happy scenes leaving that "feel good" sensation on the viewer, the development is quite fast and so isn't boring. The ending is slightly abrupt but leaves an idea of what happens next. Definitely not a must see but still interesting enough to avoid being forgotten.

Salaryman Kintarou is legitimately one of the worst anime I have seen in my life

The premise is interesting enough as it showcases Kintarou who is a former gangster turned salaryman trying to survive with his son after losing his wife in an environment he isn't used to . His extremely honest personality initially rubs the higher ups and his colleagues in his work place the wrong way until they see the light and realize how their quality of life is bettered once they become more honest with themselves as well

That sounds kinda cool right? But guess what it isn't

Why? Because Kintarou is loved by EVERYONE ... . Every woman and I mean EVERY single one of them in the show wants to "date" him and his former rivals that turn to friends worship the ground he walks on and cry every time he does literally anything. He is portrayed as the realest , sexiest , toughest and luckiest human being walking gods green earth . Mind you that to an extend this would have been fine but he has the personality of a dishwasher and all of that admiration is never earned

To give you a basic understanding at one point Kintarou is sharpening pencils because he is incapable of doing anything else in the company and somehow everybody in the office applauds him for it saying that these are the best sharpened pencils ever! . Lmao who wrote this shit?

Continuing on with how terrible this character is , Kintarou initially disregards advances from women because he is still very much in love with his late wife and wants to focus on raising his son which is extremely admirable but of course they fuck this up as well

Eventually Kintarou meets a woman that everybody wants to bed because she is wildly considered to be one of the most beautiful women in all of Japan so what ends up happening is our poster boy takes a bet that he can indeed do it and without a shred of buildup he sleeps with this woman who also ends up worshiping the ground he walks on because of how awesome he was in bed despite "finishing" extremely quickly . Trust me if this sounds obnoxious it's even worse when you actually see it

Get this though! He sees his wife from heaven in a dream telling him to move on and that she's OK with this . So what does Kintarou do? He scratches his ass , yawns like a neanderthal and continues his day without a single comment about what transpired . This was the point where I stopped watching as I couldn't take it anymore

Salaryman Kintarou is the anime equivelant of Neil Breen and I was utterly flabbergasted that in the end we didn't get a mecha version of Kintarou that fought against alien invaders

I could touch upon some other things like the low budget stiff animation that constantly reuses scenes but I wouldn't have minded if the story was good . The verdict used for the 1/10 score perfectly encapsulates how I feel about this anime
