Synopsis

Peace has returned to Honnouji Academy at last, and now that it has served its original purpose, the unique high school is set to be shut down within a month. However, there is still one final event that must take place: the graduation ceremony. As each member of the student council prepares to leave their past selves behind to focus on what they would like to do in the future, Satsuki Kiryuuin struggles to find her own path, having lost her resolve after finally achieving victory.

But just before she is to give her speech to the student body, the ceremony is disrupted by mysterious beings that are identical to the student council members. As Ryuuko Matoi and the Elite Four prepare for battle once more, they quickly discover that the one pulling the strings is an old enemy who has returned to take revenge.

(Quick Review)

Kill la Kill special was a small special reminding how good the anime was.

Kill la Kill was an action and comedy show and this special had that, the special took place after the final battle and how the students who enrolled in the school were going to graduate until someone wanted to bring back the life fibres and wanted revenge but was beaten by the characters. The art and sound stayed the same as it kept that funny, bright, dramatic look to it.

This special was really good, and the ending was perfect; it reminded me of the good moments in anime which shows how ...

Mixed Feelings
Honestly this is about as good of a wrap-up extra episode (it is one, I'm not sure why MAL lists it as two) as you can get, as it does address some of the loose ends and main things that the characters would have to deal with before moving on from the proper end of the series. Having it be a big graduation fight and to move on from the past is well done. This is basically a summary of the series in its tone, action, story, and pacing, it really hits all the beats that were expanded upon through the show. So it gets ...

This OVA is the flaw that keeps Kill la Kill from being flawless.

It entirely forgets the series' themes, tramples on the characters, and makes the resolution much less meaningful. Avoid this OVA like the plague.

To be extremely clear, there are many competent series with weird OVAs that fail to do anything besides being *more*. They tend to fall into the realm of side stories, and they're easy to dismiss. Less difficult to dismiss are sequel OVAs. Those carry feelings of missing out and a lack of closure. Given the terrible production environment OVAs are created under, this is a recipe for disaster.

After several rewatches of ...
