Synopsis

Two years have passed following the Tendoshuu's invasion of the O-Edo Central Terminal. Since then, the Yorozuya have gone their separate ways. Foreseeing Utsuro's return, Gintoki Sakata begins surveying Earth's ley lines for traces of the other man's Altana. After an encounter with the remnants of the Tendoshuu—who continue to press on in search of immortality—Gintoki returns to Edo.

Later, the regrouped Shinsengumi and Yorozuya begin an attack on the occupied Central Terminal. With the Altana harvested by the wreckage of the Tendoshuu's ship in danger of detonating, the Yorozuya and their allies fight their enemies while the safety of Edo—and the rest of the world—hangs in the balance. Fulfilling the wishes of their teacher, Shouyou Yoshida's former students unite and relive their pasts one final time in an attempt to save their futures.

A subjective piece of media. If you're a heartless person and have somehow not connected with any of the characters, and dislike "overly melodramatic" arcs, this isn't for you.

But if you've been following Gintama, have a taste for the more serious arcs, and is looking for a resolution to the silver soul arc, then by all means, I can't recommend this movie enough.
The animation? I thought it improved drastically in the slip arc, but the movie is an even greater upgrade.

Voice acting - have you watched Gintama? 10/10 as usual.

The sound design and music - 10/10.
The sound design, animation, dialogue and music will make ...

Gintama The Final

This review comes from the fingers of a Gintama fanboy. The content is 100% serious, biologically grown, and may be passed on to your neighbors at dinner.

Gintama is a show that really can't win everyone over. It is known for its blunt, dirty, and bizarre humor and its perfectly twisted characters. If you have no prejudices against such a show and want to give this humor a chance, you will get your money's worth here. I can hardly put into words how often we had a laughter attack while watching this show, this memory will stay with me forever.

My biggest concern has ...

If you adore the 2006 series and put comedy higher than this endless, pointless, uninteresting, disappointing Utsuro arc, then stop watching after Saraba Shinsengumi. That was actually what I was going to do but I couldn't get over my curiosity. Now I feel terrible.
I mean it, you'll get more and more frustrated and will end up hating everyone related to Gintama (Pororihen is good though if you love comedy). However, you made the mistake of watching Tamashihen, and now want to see the ending. Stop there! By all means I do not recommend this film. Keep on wondering about the ending until you die, ...
