I can't tell you why a Looney Tunes style Pokemon short exists now, it just does. While Scraggy and Mimikyu are not the first pair I would have chosen, they work rather well as a Road Runner / Wile E. Coyote comedy pair.

While I wouldn't call this a revolutionary breakthrough in the history of animation, if you are a Pokemon fan, you will enjoy this. It's only 4 minutes long and available on YouTube, so what do you have to lose?

The only real downside I see with the cartoon is the story. As in there isn't really one. But the story was never one of ... the greatest appeals of the Looney Tunes cartoons either, so if you don't like the slapstick comedy of the Looney Tunes, this probably will not be for you.

This is my first review so please beartic with me...

So i felt like this review was needed as most people have rated it and review it after only seeing the first or first couple episodes. Those 2 are really reeeeeally bad in comparison to the next 3, and at the moment only those 5 have been released. Still, the first 2 establish something pokemon has never done. It showed more balls than this kid franchise ever showed in animation.

In my humble pokefan opinion, oh, MY GOD, THE THIRD EPISODE WAS THE BEST POKEMON TV I'VE EVER SEEN. You HAVE to see it! It's like it ... was made to happen, but at the same time you feel so lucky watching it. This is it. The best pokemon animation you ever wanted to watch. Nostalgia and tears will come pouring out of you.

The 4th and 5th episode were unbelievably good too, just not on that level. It would be impossible to replicate ep 3. But some of you might love them even more. They are the most heartwarming and wholesome tv animation pokemon ever made. I honestly mean this. But let's face it it isn't so hard to top the crap they make for tv. It's for kids after all.

These episodes are really short. Please give them a try, just watch the good ones idk, I think you will really love them

I find it super unfair that people are giving bad reviews based on the first episode wich is the most diferent from them all. The next four chapters (there aren't more by the time I'm writting this) are the best pokemon animtaed shorts I've ever seen, even better than Twilight Wings. I've almost cried in all of them except the first one wich is more goofy and comedy focused. The art style of every chapter is outstanding, the music is perfectly choosen, the stories are short but super complete and i can't make any clearer that this is one of the best Pokemon animated projects, ... and also a great anime mini series in general.

People who make theirs's bad reviews before episode 3 aired must feel really dumb right now. As the first two episode aren't very clear about what the show is about. This show is a tribute to the franchise while still performs as a attraction to new fans and kids. Even though it's a kids show, it's absolutely slaps any main series of the Pokémon franchise in the face with it's depths and flesh-out characters. It's a much more realistic take on the Pokémon world but still managed to be family friendly. A good add-on to a not-so-deep world of Pokémon portrays by the main games ... and main anime series.

The show knows exactly the audience it's aiming for and pleased both old and new fans of it. Nostalgic elements are moderately used and aren't overused(like any other medias of this franchise). So that new fans can enjoy the show easily without having to know all the references.

My only problem with this is that it's wayyy toooo short for a show with so much potentials. I'd happily exchange the main series we're currently have for this to be serialized.

This is NOT a pokemon version of Disney cartoon.

This is an anthology of short stories, each with different art style, character and meaning, so don't stop by the first one because you don't like that old Disney fashioned animation or just choose what you're interested by the titles or covers, please. :/

It isn't actually an excellent anime, but if you really like pokemon, you shouldn't miss this, it's way better then pokemon journeys. :D

6) I became a gengar!?? - a 15 min long anime video about a shy girl became gengar due a ghost story.

The nature of this series seems to be a mixed bag. You're not going to be sure what you're going to get, except that the target audience is unambiguously children, and the animation and design is going to be stellar. The second episode is fantastic, and if more of the series is like this - emulating the obvious success of Studio Colorido's Pokémon short films - then I'm going to love this series.

Although episode 1 might turn some people off due to its dated style, I can appreciate that it did something different with the Pokémon brand, letting the team of animators really have ... fun with the new project. Getting episode 2 alone is a treasure and makes me very optimistic of the future of these shorts.

Want a Disney Pokemon? There you go.. Nothing more to it, very bland, and overall really nothing to it. It's kinda it's so bad it's funny, which I think was intended for the older audience, but then again Japan doesn't advertise Disney as much as America, so it's only natural they would try to do something reminiscent.


It runs on the classic 24 frames, while anime is usually on 6-12, so it's interesting to say the least, it also keeps the old Disney feel which was a bit nostalgic, but not enough to say I enjoyed it. Honestly I don't think I really got the ... story, which is why I rate it in total a 5.

The art is pretty nice, it does get weird though when some is painted like tree's, and then the train has outlines.. It definitely felt weird looking at it, but overall a 7

The sound was basically every Disney show ever, wish it had a bit more Pokemon to it, overall a 6

Characters were used well, plus using Pokemon that aren't brought up that much together, yet work so well with the clothing aspect.. Overall 7

I didn't enjoy it at all, was really boring, and it's weird that the credits took half the time it was actually running.. Jokes were overused and felt like I was brought to the 1980s'.

As someone who was brought up on short western classics such as Looney Tunes, Popeye and Tom & Jerry, seeing that Pokémon spun out their own take on this type of animation had me intrigued to say the least.

While the story (if you can call it that) is nothing to really write home about, I feel this suits the nostalgic charm of the type of fast paced, slapstick style comedy that the creators of this animation were trying to nail.

Overall I'd still give it a 10/10 for making me feel like a kid again. Just sat there giggling with a big stupid grin ... on my face watching short thats clearly meant to just be a bit of a fun new take on the Pokémon franchise by using such a classic, universally loved style of animation.

After finding this on MAL, I was curious and after some searching on YouTube, found it and sat down with some Popcorn to watch it.

It's cute and has that Disney animation quality like "Steamboat Willy" so that was enjoyable for me. And because I grew up with Disney shorts and Pokemon, seeing the two together just made me smile.

Story -- 5/10

The story...there really wasn't one. It opened with Zuruggu (Scraggy) eating beans, and then went from there. There was zero plot at all, just a bunch of cause-and-effect scenes happening pretty much all at once. The main title is literally just two Pokemon names and ... then you see the minor title "Chase The Beans". Nothing. To it.

Art -- 6/10

The art style as said before is reminiscent of Disney, and I found it really nice to see. Bright yet subdued colors really caught my eye and the coloring of the backgrounds were nice and soft.

Sound -- 5/10

As much as I wanted to rate this higher, I just couldn't. The music just reminded me of Tom & Jerry more than Disney, and it does nothing but indicate changes in actions or events, doing nothing to really drive the story (if there was one).

Characters -- 4/10

These are two Pokemon that have nothing in common, just the fact that they both wear a sort of clothing - Scraggy its skin, and Mimikkyu it's cloak/sheet, whatever you call it. It's interesting that they used two Pokemon from different generations, Scraggy being from Gen V, and Mimikkyu being from Gen VII. I'm giving this a 'decent' score because I didn't hate it.

Enjoyment -- 7/10

I enjoyed this a fair amount, not too much, and I didn't hate it. It was just lacking? I guess in the elements they were attempting to pull from Disney.

Overall -- 5/10

I wish I could have given this a 6 or 7, but due to the thoughts before, it's not that way. In any case, I'd definitely show this to all my friends and my younger siblings. Nice job to the creators.

You only need to see the episode 5 that is what we wanted to see in the world of pokemon.I only did this review because I loved the episode 5.
The others episodes are a pain to watch. The episodes are different of commum anime as a cartoon, drawings and a very small film, but I don't liked it.
I didn't feel conected at the pokemon world in the others episodes, but in the episode 5 is as a spin of that we readed in the pokemon games that the pokemons can be a family.
The episodes are short so I gave a to watch ... then all.
