Great Cleric is a tough one to rate because I did want to like it. I like the art style, the character designs and the concept of an MC who is not OP from the start, but has to grind and train constantly to improve was appealing. Sadly, for me at least, the show took 8 weeks to get good and for most people it’s just not an investment they can make. Had this show come out the gate with the energy we saw in the final 4-5 episodes, this could have been a really good show.

I tend to believe the problems with Great ... Cleric were adaptation based since the Amazon reviews for the light novel are glowing. But, my God was this show dragged out. I’m all for training arcs and having an MC go through trials and tribulations to get stronger, but it gets to a point where it’s too much. In an anime where you only have 12 episodes to get people into a story, there’s only so much of the same repetitive stuff people can take. The training arc in this one could have been cut by several episodes and Luciel leaving the starter town to get the story going should have been done sooner. Once that does happen, I started enjoying the show a lot more. The whole capital arc is very fun, there’s some cool dungeon crawling, best girl gets introduced and the pacing gets much better at that point in general. It’s just way too much slog you have to go through to get there.

As a character, I’m kind of neutral on Luciel. He’s somewhat of a lovable idiot. Has some good moments where he makes you laugh and you root for him and then some where you just want to slap yourself in the face. He’s probably more developed in the books, but I wasn’t in love with the guy based on this anime. As I said before, I do like that he has to actually work for everything he’s got. He starts off purely able to heal before learning other combat skills and the show, for better or worse, takes its sweet time showing you how he acquires each and every one of those abilities. The side characters are pretty meh until blonde waifu gets introduced. At that point my interest was piqued. Sadly, again going back to the pacing, it took a long time for her to really become a part of the story. There’s a few others who get introduced at the end that are solid too.

Art is really solid in the anime. I’m a big fan of the bright colour palette, I like the designs as well. Animation is your generic powerpoint style, but it gets the job done. The production on the show is serviceable.

Really my main issue here just comes from the pacing. That alone just makes it hard for me to recommend this to people. I’d say give episode 1 a try and see how you vibe with it. That same pacing is going to stick around for like 4-5 episodes so if that’s something you can handle, go for it. Personally, I think I’ll give the Light Novels a chance at some point just to see how things were handled there. The world is interesting enough for me to want more of it, just not necessarily in anime form.

I'd recommend this anime. It was light hearted and had some funny moments. I like the story and the pace for the most part. I would say it was a good story and wrapped up nicely. I look forward to a season two. I'm not sure why its rated lower then a 7. I think it is a standard isekai but is a different take on it and was pleasant to watch. I think the Art was good and the concept was entertaining. I think if you think the isekai genre is played out then maybe this isn't worth your time but I think ... it was a solid anime that was over run with fan service like some.

Not getting the hate.

It's a guy who works hard as per the work ethic in his previous life when he was a salesman.

It's only episode 4 and he's off to set up a clinic. It's nice the dynamic between him and Brod who trains him. The only really disappointing thing is that they are not referring more to his previous life skills as the series progreses. Also, the bevy of babes cliche is OTT and annoying. It would be great to see another series where they are not so reliant on loads of curvy girls being attracted to ... the MC.

I guess another year to wait for S2 of Hell's paradise.

This anime is boring, meaning the pace is slower than my moms hyundai. I can only imagine he's gonna be a great healer at S3 if we are unlucky it gets another.

Characters: MC flimsy, His teacher is the brawny old adventurer, and uhm yea the rest kinda comes and goes so you dont really know more than these 2 maybe ... the cook that delivers the galaxy liquid mc. 3/10

Art: So uhm, naruto fillers have better art than this. Maybe the galaxy liquid gets an 6/10 and the rest overall is 3/10

Story: I kinda forgot what i was watching, some dude that wants to be a healer. Doesn't really feel OP in any way, actually pretty weak after 3 ep still. 3/10

I know how nondescript this is, but i feel like it gets the point across. Its gonna 10 billion percent be one of the forgettable ones if you finish it.

MC is reincarnated as a healer in a world where healers seem to exploit others for their services. Just think of it as American health care meme, but in a middle ages fantasy setting.

We all know how this goes. MC is "nice" and doesn't want to let people die as a healer etc.. But what really surprised me was the story and pacing.

Positives
1. Actually hard working MC: Isekai garbage usually either grant OP cheat powers or just show a montage of hard working MC in the first few episodes before making him OP. But this is the first series where he actually IS weak. ... He starts at low level and has to grind very very slowly to grow stronger. He tries to do everything he can to get stronger. The slow pacing even makes you appreciate how hard the MC is working. And that no matter how much you romanticize it, real hard work is still a long journey of boring repetitive practice.
2. Pacing: Unlike the usual isekai where we are just ticking off a checklist of tropes, this show actually bothers to setup the characters and the world. We see the MC training, going to eat after training, trying to sleep and everything. It was oddly relaxing to watch the show and it also managed to get me invested in the show. Although it may feel boring at times, i appreciated the slowness by the end of the series. Definitely not for everyone, but for those who just want a rapid pace, there's plenty of isekai already.
3. MC got a brain: Instead of just becoming a healer, he trains at an adventure guild for a while to learn how to protect himself (atleast run from monsters). He knows he can't save everyone, won't become OP overnight and must get better to help others. He also is one of the few MCs who feels like an adult in a workplace.
4. A few hilarious moments: MC's VA did a great job when delivering comedy dialogues. Actually made me laugh out loud. It ain't god tier comedy, but it is definitely there. It made even the serious moments feel lighter and just made the overall vibe relaxing.

Negatives
1. pacing is kinda slow. I wish they would edit out some repetitive content to add more lore or other stuff from the novels.
2. everything else is still super generic in terms of world/characters. Atleast in this season, there's not enough lore/hooks to distinguish this series from other isekai. But the final episode did get interesting. It felt like "this is where the real story starts". I guess it was a good way to hook viewers and make them buy novels.


Most people should probably skip this. That is why i will put this as Not recommended.
This is like a slow Slice of Life, where you grow along with a hardworking and sincere/realistic MC. Watch the first couple episodes and judge it for yourself. Due to the slow pacing, you won't see anything genre defining, but you will atleast get its "vibe".

But those who crave a slow isekai that still has combat/plot, i would absolutely recommend this. I loved it and will probably be jumping to novels.

I don't get the hate for this Anime either. It does rely on a standard Isekai story, but it has it's own charm and a few major differences. Most isekai has the main character starting out over powered. This does not. He has to work really hard to gain his abilities even though the strange purple substance helps and is called a cheat. This also doesn't do the instant harem either, however there are a bunch of pretty anime girls to look at.

As you continue to watch the Anime (or read the Manga) you see how he struggles with discrimination and slavery within the new ... world and how he overcomes those with just being a good thoughtful person.

I don't know where people are saying this looks computer animated. Even if it were, its not a bad thing. Most anime uses at least some computer animation or effects to save time and cost. One thing I notice though, there is a great deal of attention to characters hands. If you have a chance to read the Manga, that will definitely standout.

All-in-all it's a good anime to watch. Doesn't rely on adult situations and is fun to watch.

I was honestly so surprised that I enjoyed this as much as I did and I feel compelled to write a little recommendation for those who might give it a chance and find the same level of enjoyment, and also to make it clear who this WON'T appeal to so people don't waste their time. Right off the bat, I should say that this is an extremely amateurish affair on almost every level. The writing is linear, straightforward, surface-level, simplistic, and unambitious. It doesn't have any deep themes (honestly to say it even has any themes is debatable), the writer can't really ... juggle multiple concurrent plot threads, there will only ever be one thing going on at a time, stopping arbitrarily to pick back up a different thread every so often, but never in any intertwined, multi-layered story. The pacing is stop and go, wildly accelerating or skipping through swaths of time only to slam the brakes and progress in real time before skipping forward again. The characters are entirely one-dimensional, the relationships are shallow, honestly there's barely any difference to the recurring side characters and a nameless rando that gets one line in terms of depth. As far as the world-building, you are told a little, shown even less, and don't really get any feel for the setting beside what you explicitly are shown. The systems, the places, the people, the dynamics of the whole world are loose, undefined, and only fleshed out as relevant to the protagonist's journey. The animation is minimal and basic, backgrounds are simple and undetailed, the most that can be said about the music, even the OP and ED, is that there is music. The voice acting sounds like they scraped up all the aspiring new hires from some agency and put them to work on their first professional gig.
So in what universe can I say all this and still want to recommend it? Well, in spite of everything, this show has a charm to it that with the right attitude makes all the ways in which it's quite simply not good more digestible. It's earnest, it's lighthearted but not entirely without serious moments, and its mostly the ways in which it will surprise you with hints of aspiration that may endear it to you. It comes off like the writing of a guy who just wants to entertain people with his simple rpgmaker game story, and against all odds managed to get it picked up by a studio to make his dream a reality, and even though that production is underwhelming, there's still hints of someone caring more than they had to. There are random humor moments that actual catch you off guard, both in the writing and how much effort the show put into delivering them (not that these are by any means high effort, but the bar is so low that they could have gotten away with ANYTHING and chose to do even anything more is commendable.) The story despite being so amateurish flows, it makes sense, and eventually becomes slightly compelling as you come to know the characters. Despite the world being so loosely cobbled together, the fact that I actually wanted to see more of it speaks to *something.*

This show is something that has "good" shyly hanging onto my tongue, anxious to leave my lips. But I can say that it is a comfy, relaxing piece of idle entertainment. I think this is the perfect kind of show to serve as the parsley to a more substantial piece of media. Use it to clean your teeth in between heavier dramas or nut-quaking action movies. It truly does feel like an escapist diversion. If you only want to experience masterpieces or things that even aspire to be them, this show is not where you'll find it and I'll say simply move on. But for those who just want something to watch lying in bed cuddling with a pet or to pick your heart up after watching tearjerkers or simply be stimulation for an idle brain, I think The Great Cleric is an underdog you can get behind.

I love this light novel (it really just gets better and better!) but was a littlest disappointed with the anime adaption as it felt really rushed, especially towards the end.

Overall the art and voice acting was very good, and the story itself is summed up nicely. However, this really could have done with an extra episode or two as it completely flew through the final floors of the dungeon and skipped over crucial parts that will become key to the plot as a whole. Pacing let this down for me...

That being said I hope they do season two as I'll definitely be watching!

Interesting premise that promises a unique isekai story.

Ends up being typical and honestly- quite boring. I say this as an isekai fanatic; I love isekai, but the one thing I cannot stand is when the plot is the MC training continously with no development. The first 4 episode is the MC literally training and trying to level up while the plot moves an inch. Then he moves to another city, and now he has to clear a dungeon, and of course he does (with more training and small improvements). It's literally like watching someone play a video game. I'm here to watch an anime, not ... watch someone play a game. It's funny cause the anime tries to reference itself that it is indeed not a video game, but that 4th wall breaking did nothing but made me scoff even more. The training arc(s) makes no sense either. MC repeatedly gets his butt kicked, yet he is the only one in the world who has cleared the dungeon, which holds some of the strongest monsters. Yet he can't even beat a simple starting adventurer. Talk about inconsistency.

Is there anything good about this anime? There is actually- the goddamn story that the anime should've been concentrating on instead of watching the wimpy ass hero cry and train all the time. The story itself is actually super interesting. Healers have become corrput and are charging crazy amount of money for their services- in some instances if payment isn't ment then the patients become slaves. There's hints herre and there about the world which it works. Those parts are good. Then the anime goes right back to the MC like...doing boring stuff. If the anime had actually concentrated on the premise like the show described, I guarantee many fans would love it more. I mean, seriously that is an awesome story line. But instead every episode we get 15 minutes of the MC getting his butt kicked during training, then not learning absolutley nothing- then repeat again next episode, aaanddd continue the cycle until the finale.

Speaking of MC, how is he? I started off liking him. He is a total wimp. But I'm okay with that. I like alot of wimpy MC's. Deku from MHA is awesome. I loved Kaneki in Tokyo Ghoul (seaosn 1 at least). But Luciel? He's wimpy, a cry baby, and well- that's pretty much his entire character. His motivation is all over the place. Money, girls, a place to live? Who knows. Sometimes it's everything. Sometimes it's nothing. The thing about wimps is that there needs to be a pay off. Like, there needs to be growth. There is no growth with Luciel. So to sum up- Luciel isn't bad- he's just super duper boring. How are the side characters? Forgetable. Not a single one stands out. They're all cardboard cut outs of every single side anime characters you've encountered before. The interactions are as basic as they come. That said- that's the least of this show's problem. The side characters do a solid job over all, even if I don't remember a single of their names. It's the lack of story that really brings down this show.

So should you watch this anime? I would say pass. I wanted to quit by episode 4 or 5, but at that point I had already invested too much time, so I had to see it through to see if there was any pay off in the end. And the answer is no.

This anime really brought me a lot of different emotions.

At first it seemed like just a generic isekai like all the others, but as I watched it I realized that it was more than that, even though the animation and the characters weren't those things, the story of this anime really captivated me and it was very good to follow this saga until the end.

This anime could be much better if done well, but it was still good enough to touch my heart. And it was also a great refreshment from the new rotten anime that have been coming out lately. This anime may not ... be a 10, but it is a 10 in my heart and always will be.

No começo ele parecia só um isekai genérico igual todos os outros, mas conforme eu fui assistindo eu percebi que ele era mais do que isso, apesar da animação e os personagens não serem aquelas coisas, a história desse anime me cativou bastante e foi muito bom acompanhar essa saga até o final.

Esse anime poderia ser muito melhor se bem trabalhado, mas mesmo assim foi bom o suficiente para tocar meu coração. E também foi um ótimo refresco desses novos animes podres que tem lançado ultimamente. Esse anime pode não ser um 10, mas ele é um 10 no meu coração e sempre será.

This is the ultimate Isekai anime. No quests, no real villain, no rival...just pure, unadulterated level/skill grinding. An entire arc devoted to nothing but spamming spells and attacks to level them up, then eating and sleeping and regenning mana. Another arc devoted to nothing but grinding mobs and selling loot to buy new skills so he can grind mobs better.

And that's it. Literally. That's it. 12 episodes of resurrected in an RPG grinding. I've never seen an Isekai of such incredible purity. I don't even mind that the animators accidentally deleted the upper lips of every female ... character in the show.

I'm utterly confused as to why the majority of the rating is negative. Sure, it's not the best isekai anime but that doesn't mean this anime is on the bad end of the spectrum. If I have to categorize this anime, it has to be on the upper end, this is the type of anime which can keep you from being bored if you have nothing better to watch. It's an anime you'd look forward to every week.

Character: The mc character development was something which kept me going for the long run. It's not a trait you would expect from a normal quality isekai genre. ... And the supporting character are quite appealing as well and have shown considerable progress in their relationship with mc. The script for this anime is well written, and that's something I can confirm as I'm in the second last episode.

Action: This aspect of anime has also kept my eyes glued on the screen, it's fun how the mc thinks when he faces problems and hardship, his character development somehow manages to envelop the action aspect. There are funny moments in the fighting moment as well. Overall this part deserves credit.

Overall: This anime is something I got to fully enjoy, it's not easy to find anime which is worth your time and somehow this anime had something which I can look forward to every week. It's sad that there's only 1 episode left. Hoping there would be a season 2 to help me pass my time. It's a good anime so I rate this a 7.

I don't get the negative review. It's not the best isekai, but it tackles a different perspective than other isekai so I do find it interesting and somewhat heartwarming.

I like the art, but since there is not much action, you can't really compare it much to other isekai which are more action pack and would demand more from the art direction. Character wise, there are competing factions that have their own motivation, although at chapter 10, there was still no directr confrontation.

There is not much conflict, no over the top power fantasy, so some people might not like it as much. However, as someone who ... likes slice of life and isekai, this fits perfectly for me.

How to summarize the show? I'd say silly, fun, innocent, light-hearted, a good albeit slow rolling story, interesting world-building, with fantastic use of amusing summary conversations between characters.

I get how a lot of people want more action and more stuff to happen in episodes, but it's all relevant. The MC builds relationships, struggles internally, works hard, and desires to be a good person who can take care of himself. In a lot of shows, many of these things are glossed over or left to a montage. In this show, we see these smaller day to day struggles and efforts that the MC puts into ... his development.

The montages are used sparingly and actually are saved for the moment when you worry that 4 minutes of an episode is going to be spent summarizing an event to another character. In a pleasant twist and thematic to the light-heartedness of the show, these moments have the fast forward high pitched voice and they only use a few seconds and then continue the story. In some anime this might be an issue but because of it's slower pace, this works wonderfully and I really appreciated this.

Honestly, there's nothing mind-blowing about this show but somehow it holds its own to me and I found it very enjoyable. In fact, I've re-watched each episode at least 2 or 3 times because it's been chill and fun to kick back to.

Maybe it's because that it hits that cozy home cooked meal vibe to me that I like it so much, but I really liked this show. Don't go in expecting cutting edge animation, cinematography, music, or any of that. I'm no connoisseur but the choices in these categories that the show made work for it.

This was surprisingly good after finishing the first season. It’s a basic Isekai where the main Protagonist gets reincarnated into a magical world. He picks being a healer in a world where greed and corruption make things difficult for him at the start but his wholesome personality shines and he shows how things can truly change for views on healers throughout the series. He isn’t over-powered at the start but works hard and gets to a point where that hard work pays off in ways no one would have expected. I don’t want to spoil anything so my review should be vague enough to hopefully ... not give anything away but will entice readers to give it a watch.

I would be hard pressed to manage to spoil this show by using words since really nothing happens. Granted I have watched only four episodes, but even that's three more than I should have. So story is non-existent, at least until now. Things do happen but there's no theme other than him training, which coincidentally is almost never shown.

Speaking of not showing things, animation is very lazy. Every episode is filled with static dialog images with only mouths moving in as fewer frames as possible. Sometimes it's even still images with some lens flare added on top of it to hide the fact half of ... the episode feels like PowerPoint presentation. Then for no reason at all they will spend inordinate amount of time animating completely stupid shot of someone drinking beer or something like that.

Character writing is stale as it gets. There's absolutely nothing new in this show you haven't seen in literally any other issekai show. All, and I mean it, all of the characters are two dimensional simpletons with no ability for internal conflict or having personality. Humor is just boring and you can see they are trying really hard to compensate for poor writing. None of the jokes land, ever.

I'd say skip it. There's nothing to be gained here and I would advise re-watching any other issekai you even slightly liked as that will at least be somewhat interesting and will hold equal amount of new content as watching this.

Ironically good as a story that is not edgy, over the top, not about overpowered characters and not ecchi. I know I know, a shocker.

Despite the "status, skills" things and the premise of Isekai it feels more like a typical fantasy which is actually a good thing. MC doesn't get anything special going on for him and doesn't have any superpowers at any moment of the story and basically is just stubborn which helps him in the long run to overcome his lack of ability. In this regard it's a good slow burn story to follow along that culminates by the end of the season.

If ... you think about it, somewhat resembles Faraway Paladin that most people didn't like while it was an enjoyable show to watch.

Production shows the lack of budget, but they didn't use any ugly ass CG so the quality doesn't jump around like turtle from shield hero or I'm a spider.

Story starts off relatively slow by focusing on MC trying to get actually useful at anything until he gets involved in some of the underlying world issues. Nothing that hasn't been done before, but it has adequate progression. Some of the gags might get repetitive, like the whole joke with Substance x.

I would watch S2 if it ever appears.

In short, manga is more amusing than anime.
Animation seems to be on a cheap side, and lines that look fine on page don't sound so good in motion.
Plot-wise it's your average isekai. Out of positive bits, the protagonist doesn't seem to be as overpowered as others would be in his position, since the series often make a point that even though his stats are getting high, he still far away from actually overpowered people in the setting. At the same time it often makes one wonder, why they don't take care of all that shit that goes on. Kinda the same dilimma ... you would have in D&D with archwizard NPCs.
That said, it's inoffencive and safe. For now at least =) I've read further in the manga.

Incredibly low effort anime. Doesn't feel like anyone cared about this show. The animation is really janky looking, no detail, action is fluid, but still very low effort. Characters are kind of amusing, but also kind of annoying. Also not really any depth of any kind there. Mostly the same for the story, no depth and poor world building. Pacing is meh, slow, but at least it moves. Voice acting leaves a lot to be desired, no stand out performances and I find the main character to be grating. Soundtrack is lame, not terrible, but very forgettable. Op is actually pretty good though, but the ... ed is meh. Overall it's boring most of the time with the occasional amusing joke or two. The qulaity is close to the bottom of the barrel. 4.45/10 Dubbed

The story wa predictable, and i enjoy it. The art style is very simple and adultly women and it fit with story. The character from zero to hero, and i like that. Others will enjoy this series. My opinion in this episode Good at motivating people from zero to hero, not from episode 1 to the end does it feel like a comedy, and his struggle until the end and the opening and ending music are pleasant to listen to, even though he keeps failing in the middle, it turns out he is not afraid to keep moving forward facing obstacles towards his goal, I ... like it
