This show really ticked all of my boxes at first. A classic Rom-Com plot about unrequited love with its own twists. A protagonist that isn't denser than a brick and doesn't avoid his feelings. A bit of good writing and, realistically, this could have been another hidden gem in an already stacked Summer 2023 season. Unfortunately though, The Dreaming boy is a Realist tries to be something it isn't, losing its audience early in the prologue. 

While the overall production quality being about average it definitely wasn't unpleasant to watch. The problem all boiled down to lazy directing and screenplay. Most of the dialogue felt incredibly forced with nothing ... of substance being said. After the main point of a conversation is established, the dialogue seems to suddenly shift gears into endless mumble mode. Overall it felt like the director was adding gibberish so the characters had something "profound" to say, ignoring the fact that no real conversation flows like that. This could have been avoided if the characters genuinely had something meaningful to say and if not, decent humor could have done the trick. However, the direction wasn't good on either regard. The comedy doesn't meet the mark and the characters are becoming more and more confusing as the show progresses.

The story and the motivations behind it are also questionable. To summarize, the protagonist is trying to discover what "love" and "care" truly mean to him, but he's going about it in a peculiar way. It has already been shown that his behavior prior to the prologue resembled that of a stalker. None of the characters minded that for some reason, even though it was clearly a problem. Nevertheless, the protagonist eventually distances himself from his crush, realizing his approach was unhealthy and decides to instead admire her from a far.  That by itself is fine; it's the execution that matters. After he does this the main girl suddenly fades out and other girls are introduced. The protagonist now has to solve their problems, which leads to the dialogue problem and the lack of substance that I mentioned. By episode three nothing has happened that validates the significance of "stalking = bad," which is the main theme of the show.

TL;DR - The Dreaming Boy is A Realist is definitely not the tragic romantic comedy it tries to be. It is full of forceful dialogue scenes that have no substance, comedy that doesn't meet the mark, and an over all lack of focus on the shows theme. Despite my rant here, I acknowledge that I'm probably overanalyzing and that the show is pretty lighthearted in nature. If you want to enjoy it, my advice would be turning off your brain first. Personally though I wouldn't recommend it.

In short:
Good setup ticked all the boxes that is need to be ticked for a decent psyhological romcom, could have been good i feel like if care was put into it. ChatGPT dialogue, weird animation, convoluted and compliacted characters. Story lines start up and go nowhere, bad message story-wise. I mostly watched it because tsundere interactions. Its mostly about a tsundere having stockholm syndrome towards her ex-simp.

In long:
The story's key points can be summarized in the initial episodes where the two main characters, or MCs, first interact. During this time, the girl begins to experience feelings of loneliness and sadness as the boy ... prepares to depart, leaving her to face the world on her own. As their interactions become less frequent, she gradually comes to realize just how significant he was in her life, acknowledging the profound impact he had on it. This early phase of the story stands out as one of its most poignant moments, even though the two MCs only cross paths two or maybe three times within each episode.

However, this touching connection is short-lived, as it quickly takes a different turn during the job arc. Here, the boy encounters two other girls and embarks on the journey of building his, let's say, extensive harem. During this time, he shares no meaningful interactions with the girl from earlier, and she, unfortunately, doesn't take any proactive steps to bridge the gap between them. In fact, the entire summer passes without them crossing paths, which is a significant departure from the essence of a romance anime, where the heart of the story typically revolves around the evolving relationship between two central characters.

This sudden shift in focus, as the boy's attention diverts to other characters, ultimately detracts from the core of the anime, leaving a noticeable absence of the romantic connection that initially drew viewers in.The standout character here is Sajo, the main protagonist. He doesn't fit the mold of the usual nerd or the enigmatic, attractive figure that appeals to every girl. Rather, he comes across as an ordinary guy who most people can identify with in some aspect, barring the fact that he has stalker tendencies, which I'll choose to overlook. As for the remaining characters, they tend to fade into the background, offering little of note and displaying rather unremarkable personalities.

The only reason, i dont go below 5/10 is because the final episode was very very good.

The Main Character is exactly what Sigma Grindset dudes think looks cool. Well, spoiler alert: He's not cool whatsoever.

Episode 2 especially hammered that in for me. We've got a character who is deeply afraid of men to the point where she's extremely rude and lashes out. Now, that's INTERESTING -- we can probably do something cool with that, right? Make her realize slowly that not all men are like that, or something along those lines? Have her overcome some past traumatic experience, or at least set her on the right path to do that?

NOPE.

MC gets APOLOGIZED to by this traumatized girl -- which likely took ... a lot of strength for her to do, considering y'know, apologizing involves talking to a man, the very thing she's afraid of -- and how does MC respond? He proceeds to talk sh*t about her to the student council president because the apology apparently wasn't good enough for him. He tells the student council president he was DISAPPOINTED because somebody else was in the room when the traumatized girl apologized to him, so therefore the apology isn't good enough. WHAT?

And the president PRAISES HIM for being "observant", and he shrugs and basically says "just who i am after stopping being a simp."

Like, not only is that horrible and not recognizing progress where progress is made, but you're NOT COOL, DUDE. You're being a rude a*shole right now. Why are we praising this? What part of this is cool?

The main romantic interest is tsundere to a fault. Now that the horrible MC isn't pursuing her anymore, she's grumpy and all pouty about it. We could've seen a slow realization about appreciating the MC for who he is (if he was a good person, that is) but no, instead all she wants is his attention.

Horrible representation of women, horribly annoying sigma grindset protag, borderline abusive sibling relationship. Only watch this anime if you want to be annoyed at every possible interaction. People will likely use this anime as an example of how "emotional" and "ridiculous" modern women are, so be prepared for that.

This is a preliminary review after 3 episodes.

Premise: MC is obsessed with the school goddess to the point of "stalking" her by everyone's (including his own) definition. Goddess continually tells him to leave her alone, which he doesn't. This continues for years. One day MC wakes up and decides to stop, because he's become a "realist" about her being out of his league. From there, the story is a series of reasons why this was a bad thing and a journey towards true love. Harassed goddess girl now seems to miss being harassed but acts in the typical anime trope of the girl who cant ... express feelings (that only manifested once he stopped) and gets angry when he talks to other girls, goddess girls friend keeps trying to get MC to interact with her again, MC is teased by everyone else for now being a normal guy after being a caricature stalker for so long, and the guys sister who spent years telling him the girl was out of his league now feels bad and and says its dumb to give up on love. It's essentially an obsessive otakus wet-dream for justifying their inappropriate treatment of the objects of their affection. "See, they really want it, they're just playing hard to get". I'd say I'm not surprised since this is from Japan after all, where they have a real issue with this behavior and yet need to pander to the demographic most prone to it for sales. It's usually not so blatant though. The one salient point they made, about his behavior alienating her from others and leaving only loneliness in his sudden absence, was squandered by validating the Stockholm syndrome result rather than both of them building meaningful relationships with others. There's still 9 episodes to go, but it feels like the trajectory is set from story flow so far. With the way this is going and fact its billed as a romance, its essentially looking to turn into the anime version of Family Matters where anime Urkel finally wears down his prey after years of obsessive annoyance.

Absent that, the art, animation and soundtrack are decent. However this appears to be an average slice of life anime focused on high schoolers that doesn't really distinguish itself outside of its problematic messaging. I typically enjoy the school slice of life shows, but the nature of this one has me torn on whether to finish it or not since there are plenty of others that fill the same need without the questionable messaging. I'll likely give it a few more episodes before deciding.

EDIT after watching Episode 4. Perhaps the Japanese wasn't as bad, but the subtitles were.

A tale as old as time, yet in the hands of Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha, it falls flat, lacking the depth and nuance that elevate a story from mere entertainment to profound reflection.

Oh, how I wish I could sing the praises of this anime, but alas, my dear readers, such accolades elude me. For what is Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha if not a fleeting whisper in the winds of indifference—a relic of forgotten dreams and unrealized potential?

In summation, dear friends, tread lightly upon the path of this anime, for its promises are but whispers carried away by the winds of apathy. Seek solace in the classics of yore, where tales of true resonance await those with the courage to venture forth.

As for Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha, let it fade into the annals of obscurity, a footnote in the grand tapestry of anime—a reminder that even the brightest stars can flicker and fade in the vast expanse of the cosmos.

The reason I chose to watch Yumemiru is because Sajo got rejected, and he finally realized that he needed to move on. This kinda resonated with me since just a few months ago I got rejected (by a Japanese girl). I may be a weeb and all, but I felt like I had a chance since she was so nice to me, and we even shared a common passion for music. But oh well, as Hachiman said, "I hate nice girls", they don't do nice things because they like you. OK, OK, back to the review.

Well, I kept my expectations low, and it's as ... I expected. This anime is not really good.

The main problem with this anime is that nothing really interesting happens. The conversations are bland. Sure, there was some meaningful interactions for character development like Ichinose, (the character I like the most), but the flow of the conversations between character wasn't natural. It's like the author is trying to come up with something to say and decides to put a random topic. If the conversations felt natural, maybe this anime would be a lot more interesting, like a slice of life.

Most of the characters have no depth, but that's not required since this is a light show. It's supposed to be enjoyable and maybe even funny, but most of the time I feel no emotions when watching this anime. Many people don't like Aika, but I quite like her. In the manga, we can see some of her thoughts (I read a few chapters), but they are not present in the anime, which may explain why many people don't like her. Still, I like the anime approach of not revealing her thoughts. This sets us on the perspective of Sajo, which gives an uncertainty about the feelings of Aika. We are in the eyes of Sajo, and we don't know if she likes us or not.

Also, the animation was not good, but I don't mind it.

There is a lot that I want to say, but it's better not to overthink it. At last, this is not a deep anime, and one should watch it if he enjoys it. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Dreaming Boy is a realist may seem promising based on its colorful cast of characters and interesting premise, but dont't be decieved, this is another romcom that has to go into the trash.
Story: 3/10
This show meekly attempts at creating character drama through uninspiring, substance less, excessively long dialogue, and these after mention drama are resolved in a very underwhelming and predictable manner. The show also tries its best to convey "deep" messages about love and friendship and what not, but this just makes conversations choppy, unnatural and hard to digest. If this show was written by a 7-year old learning about philosophy for the ... first time, this show might be the result. Overall, it is tough to follow the plot progression of this show thanks to the dialogue and the poor story structure does it no favours whatsoever.

I would also like to point out how the main character was literally stalking the female mc for who knows how long, and no one stopped them, even though I daresay everyone knew he was doing it. Later on, the show tries to portray his behavior as creepy, than why did no one stop him in the first place?

Characters: 4/10
The characters are your typical side-cast of romance school anime, the student council president, the other student council president? (who is the head of the dont do wrong shit committee or something), the friend who is trying to push the main duo closer together etc. This tropes could be well executed and create a geninuely fun show, but unfortunately the result are flat characters that are neither funny, quirky or likable.

Music/Art: 6/10
Nothing remarkable, the show is still watchable with the art, nothing wrong or special with its execution.

Enjoyment: 3/10
Watching one episode of this show week after week pains me. Literally nothing of value happens in each episode, drawn out by the audiobook like dialogue (that is less interesting than school itself), making each episode highly forgettable. Instead, what I experience every week is 24 minutes wasted trying to give the show chances to redeem itself. Times like this make me regret my no-drop policy, and I wonder if I could get romance IRL if I stopped wasting time watching this anime.

Overall: 4/10 (bumped up the score thanks to the passable art and music)

Anime with likeable characters that suffers greatly from unsatisfactory ending and pretty much a nonexistent/boring plot.

This anime centers around a fairly well written and competent protagonist. A protagonist who finally gives into his rejection and decides to put his efforts towards other things. He essentially betters himself and in this regard has a great deal of character development. Is it character development, or rather depression or feelings of dejection that make him the 'realist' he now is. However, I feel the english title "The dreaming boy is a realist" is kind of a stupid one. If that was ... the theme, I really didn't see it often or have it land.

I was interested in this anime to the end, mainly because of the main character... but boy is the plot stinky and pretty boring overall. Everyone is interesting or likeable ( I guess. ) in their own regard, but I feel like they're all under utilized or don't really amount to anything. There's really only three main characters. The love interest that you'll either think is cute and will either like or will hate, the main character Sajotchi, and then the friend that that kind of connects the two.

This anime really makes you question who undergoes the most character development here.

Then all just to fall flat.

I can't recommend it as I think you'll just be wasting your time. If there's hope for a second season then there might be redemption here- but it really didn't hint at one.

This is only a warning and nothing more:
As of episode 5 the production value overall takes a nosedive, and it wasn't what you would call good before. It comes to a point that there is a character on first plane with their hands like they are catching something but there's nothing there, and this goes for several seconds (10+).
I have watched many anime but I don't remember seeing something so obnoxious as that before, and to be honest even disrespectful to the viewer, like is there even a basic quality check prior to shipping this?
Maybe go check the light novel if you liked the premise, ... people seem to think it's kinda good.

The Light Novel Boy is Unrealistic.

Straight off the back of a Spring season with good, compelling romcoms ranging from a middle or high school setting to work/married life, we fall straight back down to the hell hole we call reality as we remember romcoms based on light novels still exist for some reason, and The Dreaming Boy is a Realist might be one of the worst light-novel based high school rom-com’s I’ve watched in a while, and that is really saying something.

Our light novel protagonist is seen jovially by the people around him as a stalker towards his childhood crush, Orange Haired Tsundere, on account ... of him constantly pestering her, asking her out and making her feel uncomfortable in general. Suddenly he is hit in his stupid face by a football which dramatically and I mean, dramatically, changes his personality by giving him the epiphany that he is making her uncomfortable and maybe he should give her some space.

The way the anime depicts this football scene is so over-the-top and confusing, I genuinely thought that he either died and was in the process of being isekai’d or another person's conscience was being isekai’d into his mind. The change is so jarring and abrupt that it left me confused for my entire watch time of the first episode and there's no explanation for it.

Not that I would care even if the show did try to explain itself because the anime makes me feel nothing. It is, after all, another garbage light-novel rom-com anime with no personality. The writing is confusing, long-winded and boring, the stupid teenagers don’t act like normal-minded human beings and talk like they’re part of a club for philosophers debating the origins of cum, the show seems to suggest that Orange-Haired Tsundere girl actually enjoyed the protagonist's stalker behaviour towards her which suggests she strung him along which is pretty fucked-up, and the art and animation are on the same level as my early 2010 Deviant Art submissions, and no I’m not sharing a link to my Deviant Art account. I wouldn’t be surprised if the author took all the rom-com light novels and used their smegging contents to train an A.I so he can have it write his light novel series for him and this was the result.

Now I have to say something positive because MAL will take down reviews even if there is objectively nothing positive to say about anime like Kizuna no Allele for example because they are objectively bad anime so, I like the colours. I liked that The Dreaming Boy is a Realist anime uses colours to colour in the characters and backgrounds to make the world feel more lived in. There we are. Something positive.

The rest of the show is a complete waste of time though. I genuinely cannot conjure up the image of a hypothetical person who would enjoy this show in my head, and if you are that mythical person then I suggest buying a lottery ticket for the chances of you existing are slim to none.

While searching for a rom-com you somehow stumbled upon this show right here. Did you think you have found a romance where MC loses determination trying to hook up with his crush and moves on in some unique manner ? Well you ain't getting that here.

The only good thing about this show is it's concept. I was quite tempted to see a show about a character that goes through a drastic change with some sweet romance on top, but it seems one expects too much from 6* show.

Excluding concept everything else is garbage. The final ship just suddenly bloomed from one episode to another, arcs ... and appearances of other characters are chaotic, the art is just there, the animation is goofy as hell, soundtrack drowns up the dialogues between characters and ending is not satisfying

Overall the show is random as hell, boring, bland and nothing interesting happens till the very end. With that said I believe it is not worth to watch this 12 episode torment.

MOST IMPORTANT: Stop comparing this show to Oregairu because that's just straight up profanacy

If time travel ever gets invented I will go back in time to tell myself to not waste my time on this show.

The art style was hard to look at, but a good anime watcher knows that that does not equate to the anime being bad. I, like many other seasonal watchers, welcomed Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha (2023) into the Summer 2023 lineup with open arms. I was particularly drawn to the FMC, and with this being a harem anime I checked out the other girls designs and was drawn in.

Fully knowing that harems are not the pinnacle of animes, I thought this ... anime would change that stereotype and maybe give harem animes a better reputation.

The MC is a loser who has a declining mental disorder of obsessing over the FMC, a girl in his high school class. You might think that this is harmless, as a little crush is common in high school romance animes, but the poor teacher can not even start class because the MC is throwing a temper tantrum about how he wants to sit by the FMC.

The MC goes out of his way to make his love interest feel like a social outcast, and when he sees that her feelings are hurt, he does not set himself straight. When confronted with the FMC, she is disrespectful to not only the MC but also rude to other people with zero involvement whatsoever.

If you think this is how you get the girl in real life... you REALLY should stay away from the female species.

This anime ain't it chief. I'd look somewhere else for a passable harem anime.

Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha - The Dreaming Boy is a Realist.

Do you expect some kind of good stuff and new twist to the romance, slice of life? Do you want some kind of reality slaps MC so hard that he will try to live his life again?
Too bad, this show failed to live with expectation. I have to HOPE that things going to get better but seems not possible.

STORY:
They just need first 45s to show everyone how the MC got realization is enough how bad the script is.
An average MC - Wataru Sajou (how many times we have to hear the "average" again?) who ... deeply in love with his crush, then by accident he realize that it is no use to trying to express his feelings to his crush anymore. So, he quits following her, trying to relive his life. Experiencing new things, acting more seriously to her or just moved on. Well, it should be like that, at least, right? WRONG. But the more you progress, the more you disappointed. That MC, DOES NOT do that. Instead, trying to be the biggest fan of the girl. On the other hand, when Aika (the girl) notices the changes, what did she do? Well, being more tsundere as much as possible. End of the story. There are few more problem later showed on the shows, but there is only a little character development.

CHARACTER:
Right in the beginning, the show does not tell the past between Aika and Wataru, like how things supposed to be like that and don't have a clear explanation. It's is really confusing and frustrating. We can just have to self-explain that "Oh, that boy is in love with the girl, but soon he realize that he doesn't have chances with her, he decided to be a low-key stalker". It is even worse when the girl ALSO have feelings for him. Yeah, tsundere. Honestly, I don't hate the tsundere type, but the plot is too bogus to continue like that. It can be much more well-executed if this is not a rom-com anime shows. And what is the best solution for this type of tsundere? Karma. No regret moment to be found for her. If life also like anime, then everyone with minus IQ still have lovers.
Do both of them have feelings to each other? Yes. But the way the girl shot herself in the foot in the relationship is quite absurd. She was expected that he would recognized that he was the one who she is in love with. Also, they both have time to stop and think about this relationship. Should they keep the relationship like this or clear themselves out? Hell, they can ask their best friend too, where is my wingman who solves everything? We need to see both of their minds, their feelings, their deep thoughts inside but as in Aika's POV, you clearly can see the naive the way she thinks.
There is only a few reasons for this.
1. This is the way they react with each other.
2. She only think that the MC is her best friend.
3. They never talked seriously before.
4. The IQ reduction when the MC talked to his crush.
The side characters are too vague, no one is remarkable. And don't ever let me begin with the how they showed up. It really feels like they just trying to made up a new drama and things to worked on with, then disappeared in the next problem.

ENJOYMENT:
I overhyped for this show. It has a great concept to worked on, but failed to utilize everything. Is this a bad show? For me, yes. You can watch, but I am not recommend it. It is so irony that the one who tries to be realist and to be an example how you should do when you got denied by your crush in the most dreamy way as possible.

The anime is about a unpopular guy wants to date a popular girl but realize he isn't worthy of that but in Reality This is actually a Story about a fu**boy who wants bang the heroin so approach her many times but the girl is trusunde and than he try a new strategy which have 100% rate in real life 😂too playing ignore ignore.And then guess what happens 😂.And Yes the guy isn't shy or anything, rather than he is the only one that talk to girls.so don't expect a oregairu type mc.
This type of anime story usually are better than romcom but this is ... absolute garbage.

All of review paragraph included only what's present in Anime but not compared to Light Novel.

The Animation and storytelling, Character art shines in focused scenes, exuding a sense of cuteness, but otherwise maintains an average quality with occasional flaws. The color grading suits the theme well, but the animation as a whole remains rather lackluster, with some scenes feeling sluggish.

The story, unfortunately, they're lacking the depth and engagement one might hope for. Missed many important part and connection between the plots. Many scene doesn't make sense. Pacing is inconsistent with moments of slow progression and rushed sequences that disrupt the narrative flow. Themes and ... messages primarily revolve around the school-life setting, they don't offer anything particularly special but still maintained its own theme well.

The characters given contrast feeling. The main heroine may initially come across as weak and paired with a somewhat weird harass action, atleast he occasionally showcases a more thoughtful side and improved afterwards. The girls in the story are the real spotlight with well-designed characters, each possessing their own distinct traits, making them enjoyable to watch. However, the inclusion of Sasaki, Takaaki in the story feels unnecessary and fails to contribute anything to the story.

The soundtrack, including both the opening and ending themes are good, effectively complementing the anime. Voice acting is excellently executed, with well-suited voices for each character especially Aika that isn't first line of voice actress but very suited for Aika's trait that tsundere but not that highly active tsun.

Despite the enjoyable aspects of the girl characters and some well-executed elements, Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha ultimately falls short of expectations. While it has its moments of cuteness and charm, it may leave viewers feeling disappointed in the overall execution of its narrative and characters. Only spotlight is tsundere moments and voice actings other wise light Novels version will give much more better experiences.

Hey folks, this will be my review for Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha. I didn't like it. I would rather rate an anime as its own thing, but sometimes the comparison fits too well. This show is a bootleg Yahari Ore with a tsundere romance twist.

The story revolves around Sajou and his obsessive crush on Aika. The show starts with Sajou realizing he is being weird and distancing himself so he doesn't bother Aika anymore, and eventually Aika realizing she rather liked Sajou and feeling lonely now that he wasn't always chasing after her. Over the course of the show Sajou makes new acquaintances who ... are all women that have zero impact on the story. These acquaintances all are used to show how Sajou isn't actually a weirdo and actually has his heart in the right place. The synopsis states that "Aika starts approaching him in unusually suggestive ways", buts she does not. Aika usually seems disgruntled that he isn't stalking her anymore then simply leaves him alone. On a few occasions they interact and Saijou almost always falls apart at the seams as he is still attracted to Aika.

To put it simply the show is kind of gross. Well maybe that's too harsh. Unrequited love is a thing and so is loneliness and confusion. What I can say for sure is that the romance plot of the show is not at all cute. Tsunderes are annoying in general in my opinion, but ones that constantly, even until the final moments, bring up the fact that your a weirdo stalker is too much. That isn't to say I'm taking Saijou's side, being an obnoxious stalker is also too much, but at least we get to see who Saijou is as a person. This show feels less like entertainment and more like a forced lesson on toxic relationships. I will however give credit where it is due. Aside from some lighthearted ribbing neither Sajou or Aika was punished or hurt because of this "misunderstanding" that had cropped up between them. It might not have been clinically healthy, but this show could have really dissolved into really gross themes. A few snippets of background conversation actually address some of those possibilities but thankfully they kept everything lighthearted.

Aside from the main plot premise we have these other women who show up, all of whom are completely pointless. Pointless again might be too harsh, they seem to exist for the express purpose of showing Aika that Sajou has options. These new women are the reason I called this show bootleg Yahari Ore. When Sajou is not stalking Aika he is somehow dragged into other peoples personal lives where he at the right time dispenses wisdom and understanding. This is how he connects to each new girl, helping them with some sort of problem. Most of the time this comes out as serious and we should all be learning a lesson from Sajou, but to me it always seemed nonsensical. It wanted that feeling of being emotional and interesting, but didn't put in the effort. It's sort of like when someone learns a new word and tries to wedge it into the conversation to make themselves seem smart. They understood that these moments can really heighten a scene and draw characters together, but they didn't know how to actually do it.

Overall the show was exceptionally strange and not at all entertaining to me. I didn't like following Sajou around, nor did I really want to know more about Aika. The top positive review at the time suggested that Sajou handled Aika well by ignoring her which was enough to make me stop reading the review and simply watch it, but that was not what I watched. If it was a show revolving around turning unrequited love into a normal relationship it might have actually been interesting. Unfortunately as it stands I would give this one a miss unless this is your specific theme interest.

When i heard the premise, i thought i was going to watch some chill rom-com where i can enjoy the romance between 2 people but i was so wrong.

If you've read the premise you know what it's about, but that kinda really isn't what it's about, the show really is about "nothing" in the 9 episodes i've watched. The first episodes were okay but later i really didn't know what i was watching. New random side characters with zero personality that we care absolutely zero about were being introduced.

Then of course after a few interactions between the 2 people, we realized that it's another ... run of the mill dense romance protagonist.
I knew the show is ruined after the few episodes but i kept watching if it's going to get better since i liked the premise but guess what. You can't guess that. The girl of the show almost completely disappears, for many episodes she is hardly seen and the two don't even interact with each other and it's not like they had a fight or anything just the story goes away from the girl.

It's just show about some random side characters that have nothing to do with the story. One random side girl that we know is going to lose anyway has more screen time than the main girl.

Animation & Art style:

The animation is nothing special but it would suffice if the art style wasn't so bad. I don't know if i'm the only one but i really didn't like the art style of the show. I never care about how the characters look but this show just really stood out to me. I'm not saying there aren't any characters that looked good but for example the main boy just looked so weird.


Overall, you can watch it if you want to. Don't expect much of comedy or romance, just expect some random slice of life. Maybe some romance will occur in the last episodes but i wouldn't expect much to be honest.

At the 3rd episode I rated the show as a 7 with mixed feelings. As of episode 5, I have to lower it to a 5 and not recommend. Modified review below

I thought the description of this anime was right up my alley and I thought it would be a nice change of pace, even something unique. Why unique? Whenever an anime character(A) likes another anime character(B), they do not give up their crush until they "lose" to a rival in love(C) or unless some huge life changing/world changing reason.....until now. I like the idea of a character that is willing to think, "I've had ... enough rejection". It will likely only be a temporary mindset, but it's refreshing nonetheless as long as it lasts.

The MC, the romantic interest, and the romantic interest's best friend are all likeable and personable characters that don't fall heavy into the cliche department.

For the negatives? The character aesthetic/model designs are very generic. There was one moment in episode 3 at the water fountain that I had a hard time discerning which character was the MC and which was the MC's friend. The only real difference was a slightly different shade of brown hair. The animation was "serviceable" at first, but let's call it what it was; it was meh. Somehow the animation quality has dropped even worse as the show progressed. I kid you not, that at the very beginning of episode 5 there are two girls hovering their arms over a school desk for no apparent reason, nor for anything relating to their personality. You would think it's a freeze panel or the the episode got paused.....or something......but then you would come to the realization that the studio didn't want to waste the time making the characters move if they didn't have to.

While I ALWAYS appreciate attention given to the side-characters, besides the romantic interest and Kei Ashida(best friend of the romantic interest), none of the other characters seem impressionable..............and almost all of them are nameless. In fact, as of episode 5, I still don't know who these random classmates are that are interacting with the main 3 characters. Who are these people? You know what? Forget I asked. I don't care and the anime has given me no reason to care.

The MC's sister, despite having ample screen time in the first three episodes, still feels lacking.

In episode 5 the show went heavy into the cliches. Truck-kun makes an appearance. The "I have a common cold that causes me to pass out" is present. The tsundere thank you response from the romantic interest. It's just.....really bad, especially mixed with boring and empty dialogue and terrible animation. I really don't think I can continue watching this anime. It's not even a "good time-killer anime". It's just bad and I feel bad watching it.

This show started off great and fresh! The female main character (Aika) is a tsundere and the male one (Sajo) has been having a huge crush on her for god knows how long. He's asked her out innumerous times only to be ever denied. Although he still loves her, one day, he decides that's enough and quits pursuing her. That unsettles Aika, who now has to identify her true feelings and act accordingly.

That's a great premise! Will she feel nostalgic? Is she just upset because her ego is hurt, or did she like Sajo? How does a tsundere act when her potential love interest stops ... interacting with her? Will we see her suffer? Will she eventually confront him? So much potential for character development! So many avenues to explore!

Aaaand... That's exactly where the disappointment begins. This show, for some godforsaken reason, decides to go on tangent after tangent with irrelevant characters. Don't get too attached to anyone (not that you could anyway), because they're merely here for an episodical issue that will be resolved only for the character to be swept under the rug like he or she never existed!
Episodical series, like 'The Simpsons', work because the main cast stays the same and we get attached to the characters that we keep seeing! But here, we keep on addressing the issue of a new character that has zero introduction over and over again. WHO CARES?! WHO THE HELL CARES?!

The premise is one of a romcom, but the show completely changes direction to become an anime about a teenager giving life advice to anyone and everyone. The dialogue is unnecessarily heavy, it feels completely unnatural for a teenager to be so wise in ALL INSTANCES EVER; like, the 15-16 year old dude is the fountain of wisdom dropped on Earth by the gods! What? Get real for a second, please! Also, the dialogue flows way too fast for how deep it wants to be. That's not spoken dialogue, that's typical written sentences.

Even though I instantly loved the characters (as I'm a sucker for tsunderes and any not-dense male love interests is enough for me), as well as the art, and the premise; I just can not, in good conscience, recommend this show.

It's currently a 5/10 for me, dog; subject to change. I think I will finish the season and depending on whether Aika's issues are addressed, I may change my rating and edit this review accordingly.
