Now, for those seeking a testosterone-fueled power trip, this anime may hold some appeal. After all, who wouldn't relish the opportunity to vanquish foes and win maidens' hearts with nary a care in the world? But for those with a discerning palate, the taste of disappointment may linger like a bitter aftertaste.

But fear not, intrepid viewers, for amidst the rubble of shattered expectations lies a glimmer of hope. Whispers in the wind speak of a narrative crescendo, promising untold revelations and climactic showdowns that may yet redeem the series in the eyes of its audience.

So, to watch or not to watch? That, my friends, is the question. While Re: Monster may stumble in its execution, it offers a tantalizing glimpse into a world brimming with potential—a world where the line between hero and villain blurs and where the greatest battles are fought not with swords but with the power of choice.

As for me, I shall remain ever vigilant, for in anime, the journey is often as captivating as the destination.

Well, let's just say it turned really stupid really fast.
It had a lot of potential even with the severely overpowered mc, but they really had to make it into a mindless power-showoff harem bullshit.

Isekai as a genre is already limited cause of the numbers I think, so it's hard for an anime like that to stand out. I wasn't hoping for anything like that in this case, I just expected a little more since I found the goblin theme interesting.
The ability of the main guy could have been such an interesting touch if taken the dark way... But they just made it to be ... op and boring and it makes me wanna cry tbh. So many missed opportunities.

4th ep was a complete disaster. Zero plot, but 20 minutes of fanservice n unnecessary boring fights. I don't know who the target audience is for these at this point. If someone wants to jack off they watch actual hentai where ACTUALLY happens something. But this is just girls whimpering drawn badly and only good for raising my blood pressure. ZERO dynamics between the characters, they literally just exist and communicate like total npcs. Yknow what, there aren't any characters at all. Literal soulless puppets. A stick has wider emotional range than the mc and the entire side cast together. Catastrophic.
Also it was so weird to me how this show treats women... It just doesn't feel right. Looks like all of the kidnapped girls have Stockholm-syndrome and are meat-riding for the "cool n mysterious" mc. (And also who are the exact carbon copies of eachother personality wise...) ((Sorry there's that girl with the glasses who has a slightly colder character cuz she has gLaSsEs))

The perfect way to describe this anime is "outdated."

From the plot, the characters, the animation, and even the opening song, it feels like they belong in the early or mid-2010s.

"Re:Monster" is supposedly "different" from your average isekai anime because the MC didn't reincarnate as a noble knight, a hero, or any high-ranking caste, but instead as a goblin. Sure, it's not the most unique, because some characters in different anime reincarnated into something more bizarre like a pig, a sword, and a vending machine, but still, it elevated itself in terms of uniqueness compared to your average isekai.But is it, though...?

Apparently not. The MC only ... looks and acts like a goblin only in the first and the first quarter of the second episode. And this is me being generous because even in the first episode, he already isn't acting like a "goblin". He can talk, he has common sense, and then in the next few minutes, he already evolved into something that just looks like a green elf. And if you think that the goblin in this anime is like the one in "Tensura," where goblins are a civilized race of monsters, then you are wrong. The goblin here is still depicted as a loather and pillager, savages that also kidnap female humans that later will have non-consensual "in and out" action performed on them. It's similar to the very goblin depicted in "Goblin Slayer," just taller, more good-looking, and there's a female goblin as well, which makes the kidnapping thing unnecessary. But all of this doesn't really matter because this whole ordeal is forgotten in the second episode when the MC becomes the leader of the goblins, and he forbids this practice.

Every sense of uniqueness is gone in the second episode because it develops just like any anime with an OP MC. The MC gets "cheat", he becomes powerful, and gets a lot of women.

The characters in this anime feel bland and plain both in personality and design. Sure, they're good-looking to some extent, but still too bland as a set of characters. In fact, most of the female characters introduced in the beginning only have "I fall in love with the MC" as their characters. Imagine a group of women getting kidnapped from human civilization by goblins, then somehow the leader of those goblins is being nice to them, and then the group of women falls so hard for the MC to the point that none of them mind being his side woman, despite the fact that the MC is literally THE LEADER OF MONSTERS THAT KIDNAPPED THEM.

The animation is also outdated. It feels like it should be airing in 2013 or 2014, but TV Tokyo forgot to air it until 2024 and then added it to the spring 2024 roster as if the schedule hadn't bloated enough.

So the only selling point of this anime is a decent amount of fan service. There are sex scenes, though not really vulgar, and some nudity is shown.

This is also the kind of anime where everything bad barely happens so you can enjoy it with a peaceful heart because the MC will slay everything that tries to hurt his girls because, again, seeing anime girls get killed sucks.

Overall, if you have too much time to spare, you may or may not give this show a try.

This had a promising start and went downhill so fast. If you're a woman- skip this show.

First off- they didn't label this a harem anywhere, it absolutely is, and as almost every harem anime ever- the women are treated horrendously as characters. The first 2 episodes are fun, we see the MC slowly getting more powerful, using his brain and muscle to solve problems, gaining friends, and pretty average world building for a generic western fantasy isekai. The most entertaining part of this show is the concept of being reborn as a "lesser" species such as the goblin, and the MC slowly upgrading the goblin's ... lifestyles with his human brain.

Then episode 3 hits, ugh. It goes downhill super fast. Everyone's got a crush on him- stolkholm syndrome included in a few of the women, for no reason other than "he's nice and strong". Again, not labeled a harem, but around 50-75% of the episode from episode 3 onwards are solely based on his harem building and the girls crushing on him for no reason. Not to mention gross comments from the MC like him purposely letting women live vs men because he doesnt want "beauties to die" 💀💀💀 which is totally against the cool and smart + collected personality he was shown in episode 1 and 2. MC starts becoming stupid because he wants his noodle to get wet- the first 2 episodes he actually treated women with respect and that got thrown out the window.

If you're a woman, hard pass this. The first two episodes will trick you that this is a somewhat good series. Don't go past that. It starts becoming a gross harem anime just like every other gross harem anime without the tag being anywhere. Shame. The concept was cool until they ruined it.

There are goblins, hobgoblins, ogres, pig monsters, carbuncles, etc but the true monster is none of these things. The true monster is Studio Deen for animating yet another mindless and bad isekai.

Tomokui Kanata gets shifted off to another world after being murdered by a girl. Who is that girl? Why did she murder him? Who knows? After 4 episodes, it never explains anything. There lies a common problem; the lack of explanation. Why does he, now a goblin named Goburou, have the ability to gain skills by eating when nobody else seems to have that ability? Who knows. We can guess that it was ... a skill given to him automatically when he was reborn, but by whom or why? Well.......I guess we are just supposed to accept it because it's a cliche by this point.

This skill does get rather silly when it shows him acquiring a new abilities by eating clothes. Yes, you heard that right.

The animation is stereotypically lack-luster, especially for any "action" that occurs. You know the type; generic, slow-moving, low-budget.

After 4 episodes, I still don't have any "attachment" to any of the characters, including the MC. That's not to say that they are "bad", but that they are "paper-thin". There's no reason to care for any of them, and the show doesn't even try to give you a reason to care.


I could forgive all of these things, and I have for a couple other isekai anime, IF it was at least entertaining. However, by the 4th episode my interest was waning due to all the faults listed above and the lack of entertainment and lack of an interesting plot. I have zero expectations of any character development. I really don't understand who the target audience is, because it's neither comedic, romance, or even an action anime. It just feels like a bunch of lazy ideas that were drawn out of a hat without an effort of "digging deep" and making something unique in any regard.

There are 8 more episodes left to be aired, but 4 episodes is enough to set the tone....and for once I'm glad to be tone-deaf.

There’s BAD and then there’s REALLY BAD.

“The Harem tag is missing.”

The first episode looked promising, the rest was a waste of time, honestly. An isekai with the MC NOT starting out as a human but as a goblin. Sounds catchy right?

Unfortunately, the anime fails to fully portray this concept in a good light. He gains new powers we won’t remember every time we blink and the episode runs through so fast with 4 different things happening that look pointless… and then it ends? Like why did that even happen?

All it has going for it is cringe plot armor. Would not recommend.

Beginning with an a gory start, this anime introduces a character type that still tickles my interest. Although they were mainly used to set the stage here, I appreciate their presence. (I've got a soft spot for yandere types.)
It really sets the tone for this anime's willingness to push boundaries right from the get-go. Kinda like how Tensura took its own spin on isekai life as a slime, with its iconic slime protagonist, Rimuru Tempest.

First thing that grabbed me was how it portrays its waifus. They're not just present for the main character's ego boost or to stir up some jealousy drama. The power ... dynamics, strength, and relationships all evolve over time, and it's understandable why the girls would fall for him... Stockholm Syndrome. Which is pretty refreshing to see.

As for the storyline; it's clear it's been well thought out. As at Episode 3, there's been none of that random event mess that leaves you scratching your head.
The animation is decent too in terms of consistency. Not mind-blowing, a bit average; Definitely a generous 6 or 7 out of 10 by today's anime standards.
And the humor? Oh, it's there, and it's clever sometimes. Fits right in with what the characters are going through.

Now, let's talk about the flaws because there are quite a few:
Some of the costume and weapon colors are just too bright. Recently, some shows have gone overboard with toning down colors, but here's the case where it's almost too vivid sometimes. Color and vibrancy work well to make hair and eyes stand out, and that was clearly well done here. But I'd rather have the costumes focus more on detail than a flashy choice of colors in this case, it steals from the character's individual design and can get a bit distracting.
The scaling can get a bit weird too, with characters either seeming too tall or shorter than they actually should be.
Also, sometimes the anime skips over actions to keep things moving. And it happens a lot. It's not a deal-breaker though, 'cause the story flows pretty smoothly overall. But it's noticeable given how often skips happen here.

Now here's a very important topic... our main character.
He's pretty likable, but doesn't stand out enough. He's calm, charismatic and quite aggressive when the situation calls for it. In my opinion he's well on his way to becoming a harem king for his rizz and boldness. I still can't forget this iconic line, "Dryad-san... itadakimasu."
If you know, you know.... Libidoooo!!!! Classic, man!

So, in conclusion, this anime reminded me why I used to love harem anime. An anime can pursue the harem dream without getting too cringe and distracting, if it has decent storytelling and relationship dynamics. A good lesson in storytelling, I'd say.
It's not on the level of Tensura, in my opinion. But without a doubt it's incredibly entertaining, and I say it's worth a shot if you love isekai. I'm giving it a rating of 7 for the experience so far, might change it depending on how the story unfolds from here on.

Hot garbage. An interesting concept with promisingly diverse character designs, totally wasted after episode 3 begins and protag becomes another clueless, boring, “faultless” dude whom everyone is in love with because he has a personality and none of the other characters do. His initially collected and pseudo-intelligent demeanour goes out of the window to join the ranks of all the other forgettable, bland-but-OP protagonists of this genre. All the female characters are just archetypes with no faults, no one gets any character development, nothing matters and protag gets everything anyone could ever want or need. If this show goes anywhere I will never find out ... because they sold their somewhat intriguing premise down the river too early for me to care. Skip it.

If you dislike Isekai, your opinion won't change watching this. If you're like me and generally don't mind Isekai, you still won't enjoy this dreg.

All the Isekai Tropes like OP MC. growing ever stronger, ever growing Harem etc. but it lacks what makes I'm a Spider so what?, Reincarnated as a slime etc. enjoyable. every Episode so far felt like just ticking of points on a checklist. For example: everything is dealt with in seconds without any buildup and characters, if you can even call them that, in general are hollow and lack any charm. Art isn't anything worth writing home about either. MC ... gains powers in such an inflated Rate that you don't even learn about most of them.

I always try to give every Anime a start the benefit of doubt, but this one just got worse with every Episode. Save your Time and watch literally anything else.

It´s a great isekai anime so far, but despite being a goblin evolving( with very human like features), Re:Monster doesn't bring anything knew to the market. Re: Monster has a decent animation, with a storyline where despite being the strongest, you use others to help you and them evolve. It gives you the perspective of a monster side very well, when interacting with other monsters and humans, for the good and the bad. The pacing is really fast some time, but always have a chronology line between the different days. There is an harem, but this time at least the interest of the main ... character and plot for them is of side characters, which may change in the future.

I had high hopes for Re:Monster based on the intriguing premise and promising concept, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a colossal disappointment. It starts off with a interesting story of being reincarnated as a goblin then quickly devolves into a bad power fantasy harem (DESPITE NOT BEING TAGGED AS HAREM!!!) by episode 3. But perhaps its most egregious flaw is its blatant disregard for world-building and internal consistency. The fantasy world in which the story is set feels like a half-baked afterthought. With poorly explained MC origin story that only brings up his death in the first episode but never gets into why ... and who killed him. The side characters were given good introductions only to be pushed into the background and replaced with MC's lust and cheap fanservice.


In conclusion, Re:Monster is a prime example of wasted potential. Save yourself the disappointment and steer clear of this forgettable anime.

Awesome monster isekai refreshingly abandons so many annoying tropes!

In a genre that oversaturated with so many cheesy teenaged protagonists, it's so nice to see an adult main character who actually behaves LIKE AN ADULT! So no spoilers, but this MC responds to combat tactfully and then doesn't fall into the trap of "I have to be the only strong one." He first takes time to learn his world and situation, then seeks out to improve it.

And when it comes to female characters, he doesn't grossly objectify them and neither does he treat physical relations like they are the bogeyman. I think this just might ... be the first anime I've ever seen that suggests the existence of a healthy sexual response. He doesn't force desires on others, and on the other side of the coin when consent/interest is expressed he doesn't ridicule or shame the thought of it in return, like how every teenaged romcom does. And at the same time, this anime shows that sex between adults can exist without turning it into a hentai. Honestly, when the topic came up it hardly even felt lewd at all because instead it portrayed more like a sensible respectful fulfillment of everyone's feelings.

There are only three episodes of the show released so far, but I have rated this with top marks and will definitely be watching it to the very end. I think if more shows could move into this direction of a full adult cast and follow these trends then I think it would do wonders for anime as a whole.

As of writing this review, only 5 episodes of 'Re:Monster' (2024) have been released.

So far this is just your standard Isekai power fantasy, with the main character having a similar power absorption ability as seen in 'So I'm a Spider, So What?' (2021) and 'That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime' (2018). It's most similar in quality to the former, the one about the spider, as it doesn't subvert expectations in any major ways and no intriguing plot emerged, as we saw with Reincarnated as a Slime.
For myself, I find the levelling up progression enjoyable and easy to watch due to its fast pace, ... placing Re:Monster a cut above the truly terrible power fantasy isekai.

Really, the entire show can be summed up as mediocre, from the characters to the fights to the music and animation.
I marked this as 'Mixed Feelings' since your enjoyment will really depend on how much you like Iseakai as a genre.
My recommendation is to watch one episode if you enjoyed other Isekais, as you'll know from that whether you like this one or not.
And if you haven't seen other Isekais go watch 'That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime' (2018) before this one as it's far better in every way.

No hard work, no traning literary not even month past he is alredy op. There is no comparasent with a slime. Main teme is harem which is after first 3 episodes boring as shit. Anime striped the most esential part bilding main charcter. Abiliti of eating flesh and gaining there abilities are best showed in arifurieta. Sad animation is on the top director i belive was doing everything to make this show likeable but in the end its domed form the start. Sad? No, but simpatetic that is the word. If people are looking dopamine anime try feit series. Goblin slayer is good contrast to ... this anime. Man, such awesome concept but story is dumped in trash.
I gave 5/10 oni because of animation and concept. Everything about worldbilding and a story is trash.

It's not bad specifically. The animation is good, the story has a bit of a spin and it's kind fun. However, fundementally, the concept didn't appeal to me. Whether it'll appeal to you will really depend on the following summary:

'Alpha cryptobro psycho gets reincarnated as chad alpha goblin'. The cryptobro isn't literal, just the stereotype the protagonist fulfills. Every other element is basically 'That time i was reincarnated as a slime' but with Goblins. He's a 14 year old edgelords idea of a cool Goblin and that doesn't interest me frankly. If it sounds good to you then give it a shot, it's not offensively ... bad by any means.
