Synopsis

Whisked away to the land of Kyou, Akane learns that she is the Ryuujin no Miko, and meets the Hachiyou, her protectors. They must defeat Akuram, a demon who wants to destroy Kyou using the power of Azusa, a woman who has the power to absorb human energy. If Akane and the Hachiyou cannot defeat Akuram and bring peace to Kyou, Azusa'a power will destroy the humans.

Listen. Myself and three other friends watched this together. We watch a lot of bad and confusing anime OVAs.

Not at any point did we know what was going on for more than 2-3 minutes at a time. The story was held together with gum and thumbtacks.

The character designs were unique and detailed and somehow INCREDIBLY DISTRACTING. We barely could keep them straight and no one was given enough screen time to have a moment to develop.

The first episode made two of us consider becoming un-sober because it wouldn't make a difference. The second one confirmed it would not have made a difference.
