Both have as main a silver haired girl that has a goal to fulfill. Both animes talk about death, life and reincarnation. Both are about a group of friends that go through many situations but in the end show us that true friendship is a wonderful thing. Both will make you teary.  

The anime themselves aren't that similar, but if you really liked the theme of one of them, you might want to check out the other. In AnoHana, a group of friends try and figure out a way to bring their dead friend Menma to heaven, while in Angel Beats, a group of friends that are already dead try and figure out how to get into heaven. Other than these similarities, they're pretty different. AnoHana is a lot more mature and serious, while Angel Beats is more light-hearted and comedic, with some serious moments. 

Both are tragic stories about the passing of student(s) and moving on with supernatural elements. 

If you enjoyed Ano Hana, Angel Beats is definitely a must-watch, and vice versa. Both are very similar is a lot of aspects, to start with they both include the presence of ghosts or a life continuing after death, and the struggle of passing onto the next state of living, whatever that may be. While Angel Beats appears to have a comedic start, unlike Ano Hana, which seems to have a mellow yet serious start, they're both equally gripping and progress into a beautiful storyline. Both Anime deal with friendships and romances in the same somewhat tragic way, as well as the difficultly of accepting one's or anthers' death. Both Anime feature simply beautiful, melodic OPs and EDs which play into the show just perfectly, and feature very up to date animation though their art styles differ. Both are short Anime, being 11 and 13 episodes. All in all, Ano Hana and Angel beats are both beautiful, gripping Anime that are bound to have you shedding tears by the end.   

Both are sad stories about moving on. 

Anohana and Angel beats are both really dramatic series that revolve around learning to accept death as a part of life and the process of moving on. They feature deeply developed characters, breathtaking animation and a unique and meaningful touching story that will make the viewer experience all kinds of emotions. In both anime, the deceased characters are being held back by some sort of wish or unfulfillment that has yet to be addressed. If you enjoyed watching one of them then you should definitely check out the other. 

Both are Drama and deal with the afterlife. They can have forced drama moments, but they can make you cry anyway. 

If you like sad character drama, Anohana gives some of the best.

Both of these series are just amazing and sweet. While Angel Beats has more of it both series have their comic relief moments and they're sad moments. They both also have a main theme about staying together as friends no matter what you go through. Both endings are also similar in that while you've been seeing all of the comedy and drama then endings to both series are bittersweet. You know what happens in the endings NEEDS to happen but part of you just doesn't want it to. Angel Beats and Ano Hana are both just completely beautiful. 

Both series contain plots which deal with coming to terms with death. Both are heart warming and can be comedic at times.  

Both deal with the concept of life after death and the pain of losing someone important. If you liked the melodrama in Angel Beats, you will love the mood in Anohana. 

Both shows have their romantic and sad moments, and both involve having wishes granted as a means to pass on into the afterlife. Ano Hi Mita has a smaller cast of characters and is less "cute" than Angel Beats!, but it is most definitely worth a watch if you like touching endings. 

Similar themes, similar direction and overall has the same emotional impact.

Both involving around death and the reason why their spirit is still around. Trying to solve what they regretted during their lifetime and fixing that problem. 

Emotional tear-jerker drama of high quality. These shows offer unique perspectives on the concept of reincarnation. Both of their share of touching moments, accompanied by great music. 

Purgatory is a poor word for describing the place between heaven and hell since we strictly limit the definition of good or bad to our limited vocabulary perception. Ano Hi Mita Hana is the epitome of a continuation for Angel Beats. For those who are familiar with Angel Beats, Ano Hi Mita Hana embraces the same concept of leaving a place instead for a better place; it embraces the same emptiness; it embraces the same welling of tears moment at the extraordinary climatic end; it embraces the same aloofness between the two protagonist that are the most important in our eyes. Finally, don't discriminate against Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai for its long name. A certain person committed the mistake. It was his biggest mistake this year. If you cried watching Angel Beats, this is definitely the anime for you.  

They both have a person, (in our Angel Beats case, it has many people) who can't go to heaven until they fullfile their "mission", "wish", or "promise" they had as human beings before they die.  

Both are similar in one specific way and both succeeded to make me cry at the end, and im a 16 year old guy >___>

Emotions, death, and a unique dramatic story, the characters have a difficult time accepting it, but had a hard time letting it go. When a person dies, it will be quite difficult for the characters to just move on. There are several powerful scenes that is too tear-jerking, you might want to prepare your tissues. The difference is that Angel Beats is a much more comedic but some drama scenes, action scenes, music, and takes place in a "Dead World." Anohana takes place in a normal world, mature and serious tones of the characters, and childhood friendship. 

Many people say that Angel Beats is an anime that makes you cry and that is kind of true. If you liked it then Anohana will have a bigger effect on you because it's lighter and even easier to relate to. But don't go into it with a brick as a heart or you'll be dissappointed 

The melodramatic short tale of a girl who unwillingly died, and her friends who helped her move on to her next life. Slightly overdone, but sad nonetheless. One is moe, and the other is comedy-drama. 

Similar to Angel Beats! It was a bittersweet anime. The emotional depth to this anime is really deep. You'd have all sorts of feelings, feelings that no words can describe. The story line to this anime was perfect! I was emotionally attached to all the characters (I felt as if they really existed in my life and my heart) and knowing that I was almost finished with the anime made me feel a little sad and achy inside. I definitely enjoyed this anime and it was definitely a heartfelt one! If you enjoyed Angel Beats!, you'd definitely enjoy AnoHana!  

They both follow the stories of people in the afterlife, even though anno hanna does it in a real life setting, both are guarenteed to make you cry (if you have a heart) 

They are both a sad/dramatic anime and they both have to do with like the afterlife and reincarnation. 

Though the series have some differences on the surface, mainly being that AnoHana is a serious story whilst Angel Beats is a little more on the comedy side but aside that they are quite alike at core. Both series focus on grief and afterlife, Angel Beats as said has some comedy on side with it but is still serious when it comes down to it and focus on the loss of others (or their own life in AB case). The series focus on the loss of them around us and have a strong connection of death and how effects people around you as well as both express the sad parting of life.

Girl who loves friendship and sad story, also how things develop into a heart wrenching end. 

Tragedy happens unexpectedly. You can't change the past, but what if you could have a second chance to make peace with yourself and your friends? Both series are about finding closure to tragic accidents with the help of your friends. If you enjoy these themes from one of them, you will definitely enjoy the other. The varying atmosphere is shared in both. Funny at times, bitter at others and ends with closure. 

Both have character(s) who must move on to their next life. In Anohana, a girl who doesn't know what must be done to move on and in Angel Beats, a team fighting so that they don't have to move on. 

Has the same genre drama that will definitely make your tears fall, mixed with gags that will at the same time make you laugh and also romance. Its difference is that in angel beats all of the characters are dead having difficulty in passing on but while in AnoHana only one of them are dead and what makes it dramatic is that she's one of the most important friend of the group who died in a tragic accident. Both of the anime are beautiful and you're totally gonna love it! 

Both of these anime have the afterlife mentioned, although AnoHana is not set there and only one character is dead. Both have sad yet happy endings and they both have the're funny moments

Although Angel Beats! includes action while AnoHana does not, both romance plots involve the characters falling in love despite the rough circumstances they're in.

Both shows have the same concept of allowing the dead to cross over to the next life. Sad moments, and excellent story telling for a heart-warming story overall.

Extremely sad and dramatic anime, Good sountracks and just one season. 

Both are very emotional stories with endearing characters. The style are very similar in some aspects... very homelike (or something like that). The background story of the protagonists have some shocking moments. If you like to cry, these series are for you. 

AnoHana and Angel Beats both share tales of the after-life. Each story deals with love and friendships, as well as loss and tragedy.  

Both have heavy amounts of feels and emotion. Both share themes of death and depression whilst also teaching moral lessons, like letting go of something you love and cherishing the time you have on earth. 

Both stories are somewhat related to the characters' past and the plot revolves around them clearing their mind up regarding what they've done etc. Also both apparently make people cry, don't really know why 

Angel Beats and Anohana are both very well done drama animes that are based around life after death and reincarnation. Both are very heart-warming and heart-wrenching animes that will make you cry. (Hopefully). Though these are both drama animes, there is some comedy sprinkled around both which makes you feel more involved with the characters and the story. If you liked Angel Beats, you will love Anohana. 

Both revolve around the ideas behind death. The MC and his friends progress as they have to overcome an obstacle that brings pain to their life. Both are terribly powerful tearkers that will make you cry.

The overarching theme in both series is very similar. The shows have characters who are already dead and have had regrets during their lives. If you enjoy watching drama series that have characters with touching backstories, you'll probably like both shows.

Funny most of the time but also serious and a major Feels trip, oh god whho's cutting onions again 

To say quickly, Anohana and Angel Beats are both amazing and sad animes. If you're searching for a feel trip, there you have it !! Both of them have really sentimental endings and the story is beautiful. Angel Beats has more humour though, it's a really great choice.  

Both got the same genre which is drama and supernatural. Both have touching and beautiful stories that's really great. 

Do you feel like you want to cry over an anime again but you have already watched Angel Beats for the nth time? Good thing for you (well, if you really enjoy crying), Ano Hi Mita is just as dramatic and tearful as Angel Beats can get. Ano Hi Mita shares the story of children whose friendship is strongly tied even after death. The story plays out as a group of teenagers find disclosure to a friend they have lost. They endeavor to make it so that she may finally rest in peace, even if it is too hard for them to accept. Ani Hi Mita does not contain as much action and a bit of comedy as Angel beats but why are they similar? Well, because they both make us realize that the value of life isn't about the amount of time we have. but the quality in which we live them.

Whilst I personally prefer Anohana to Angel Beats, they are pretty similar in some aspects. The first and most obvious thing is that both shows are centred around the theme of coping with death. Anohana is about coping with the death of someone close to you, Angel Beats is about coping with your own death. Other similarities include: ❀ A unique set of characters of whom you'll remember. ❀ Tear-inducing endings ❀ Bits of romance but not the centre of the shows.  

They both touch on themes like love, death, and friendship. Both are beautiful works and essentially, works of worship in terms of otaku culture.

My tears are overflowing from my eyes, as my heart was ripped in sadness. Both animes are good in their unique ways. Just the ending makes you cry a lot. Prepare some tissue before watching.  

After Life will be the keyword for both the anime. Because both anime have a main character that have died and didn't want to reincarnate so they hanging around in the world to found what they want. But the difference is in Anohana the girl still hanging around in the real world meanwhile Angel Beats tells the story in a different or special world.  

If you still love another silver haired loli that gives you another shots of sadness then this is another bet.  

AnoHana and Angel Beats! May be taking part in different wolrds, but, the atmosphere and the character development, it's honestly kind of the same. The enviroment and landscapes are both really gorgeous and fascinating. The characters are different but also the same in their own unique way. The music effects are really sensitive and always stick to the right parts of the story. As for the story element, obviously it's not the same with one another, but they have their way of being, humorous, touching and life-view changing. To cut a long story short, if you liked Angel Beats! Then, for sure, you'll adore AnoHana~ 

The characters are likeable. The story is amazing and at the same time it is feels train. The characters have problems in their own personal lives.  

Both Angel Beats and Aohana are about young people getting over death. In Angel Beats it's their own deaths they need to get over, and in Aohana it's the death of their friend Meiko (nicknamed Menma). In both series the characters have some major emotional turmoil to get though, and in both series the characters connect though a club with a "secret base."

The plots themselves aren't actually that similar but they both share the same themes of death, afterlife and romance all whilst showing the struggle of learning to accept death itself, and the death of others. Other than these main similarities, the shows are quite different. Angel Beats being more light-hearted with less tragic scenes, while AnoHana is so much more serious and pretty much every episode feels like a sob fest.. 

While Angel Beats! and Anohana might not be at all similar in terms of genre and plot, they will both make you drown in your own tears, with the end goal of both stories being very similar. These two tearjerkers are definitely gonna destroy you emotionally. 

The genre's are not maybe the same but both anime's have the common theme; Afterlife. If you have enjoyed one of these you probaly would like the other one. Both have also comedy. But make sure you got tissues at the end, really tearjerkers

Death is not the end of the road, at least not for everyone. Both series deals with how hard is to move on, some people can't and some just don't want to. The series bring the supernatural element in a kind of "realistic" way without spookyness or something like that.

Aside from the opening sung by Lia, the animation by P.A.Works, the original concept by Key, the character design by Na-Ga, the soundtrack by ANANT-GARDE EYES, the director being Jun Maeda, the similar humor, the special abilities premise, and unusual-yet-not-unusual school setting-- I could go on-- Charlotte purely -feels- like Angel Beats! and vice versa, if that's any indication. Both are great to watch. 

Characters have supernatural power and they attend special schools where students have supernatural powers. Both main girls characters have silver hair. 

charlotte is basically a rip-off of angel beats except its not in heaven In charlotte and angel beats both there is (1) a spontaneous and charismatic main girl (2) a glasses guy who serves as the comic relief (3) a clueless main character in the beginning only in charlotte he's more lelouch-esque (4) a lead singer in a girls' band  

Same original creator. Also characters' designs were made by the same person, the art style is practically identical. The music was composed by the same creators. The op & ed are performed by the same singers - Lia and Tada Aoi. Both are about a group od teenagers who have something in common. The action takes place at school, and the MC is a new student. Charlotte and Angel Beats share the same sense of humor. Also, Charlotte will most likely introduce a fictional singer/band similiar to GirlDeMo in Angel Beats! (Marina, the voice of Iwasawa from Angel Beats! performing an inserted song).

It's more similar than clannad and Ano hi bla bla in any case. Ano hi bla bla really felt overly dramatic and fake if you ask me... 

The plot is kinda similar and I'm not quite sure, but I think the author is the same person who made Angel beats 

Mosty slice-of-life with a bit of supernatural thrown in, a good amount of comedy, and an action focused last half. While the backgrounds for the main characters may not be addressed during the first few episodes, there's actually a full episode dedicated to establishing Yu and Otonashi later on in their respective anime. Schools are the main settings for these stories, with a group of teenagers being the main focus. While Otonashi and Yu aren't similar at all in terms of initial personality, they have decent development throughout it that can feel about the same in terms of execution, and this is usually right after the episode that details their backstory/background. The endings can also be considered bittersweet.  

Anime series set in a school with a similar boy and girl MC. Alot of sad pasts and hints for more sadness to come. They both really give out the same vibe with a group who do fun and sad stuff, whatever it is but they'll do it together. They to tend to go out of focus though. 

Same studio, same vibe. The main characters in both series are helped/guided by a short powerful girl.  

Charlotte and Angel Beats! are very similar to each other. Once you have watched one of them, you need to watch the other. Tomori and Nakaruma both share their leadership roles. Nakamura is the leader of the SSS and Tomori is the leader of the school council. Otanashi and Otosaka are naive, innocent characters, who are at first clueless of what they are doing, and pulled and dragged along by their fellow girl leaders. Memory loss... Retrograde amnesia, is what both Otanashi and Otosaka have. They overcome this by encountering certain things that trigger their memory to remembering the past which they have forgotten. It works for a sense of buildup and suspense.   

They have a lot in common! Both manga series are made by the same artist Komowata Haruka, Charlotte's director and Charlotte's sound director worked on Angel Beats! Finally in history, the character will also attend a special school where students have supernatural powers.  

Same writer for both shows. Students at a weird school with supernatural powers. The characters, art, and writing are all pretty similar which is to be expected since the same guy wrote them. Good mixture of comedy and feels for both.  

Both shows are directed by the same director, so a lot of the influences of Angel Beats transfer over into Charlotte. They have similar humor and the premise of a school with ability users. They honestly just give off the same feel when I watched them. These are honestly both great shows to consider watching! 

I don't know why but this Anime just came into mind immediately. School setting. A lot of sad background stories. Student council. Special powers. Both Anime give you the same kind of feel but I'd say Angel Beats goes way deeper in the feel section. 

Charlotte and Angel Beats, both animes have a protagonist who joins a group charged with combating a conspiracy (AB is God and in Charlotte are the experiments). Where the leader is manipulative, one believes himself an idol and another is the senpai. Both series involve the fact that the characters acquire a supernatural aspect, be it powers (Charlotte) or be dead (Angel Beats). The series shows the multiple plans to fulfill its mission, where the majority happens in a comic way, to the point that the series does not need to be fun and shows a different background to show the dark past of the protagonist, and a radical change, when the enjoy being with your friends becomes the fear of losing them.  

There are similar references and situations in both, and they generally have the same "feel" to it. They both have great music, which plays an important part to the plot at some parts. But although both of them have comedic moments and sometimes lowkey ridiculous gags, Charlotte is definitely more serious and maybe even a little bit "dark" towards the ends. 

Charlotte is made by the same people who gave us Angel Beats! Both use similar vivid animation styles and just give off the same general feel you'll get while watching the other. It's hard to explain, but lets say despite the rather different stories, Charlotte is more or less a carbon copy of Angel Beats! with a new plot and new characters. 

Both have sad backgrounds, characters are quite similar, the art is somewhat alike, there is great drama, both the main characters have white/silver hair, and there are super powers in both. If you like super powers and drama, you might like Charlotte. 

Both were written by Jun Maeda. So it really has the same feeling while watching it. It has good enough comedy and of course, the feels.

Bedsides just the fact that both series have been written by the same person, designed and animated by the same producers, what makes these series so similar? First of all, they're both Great comedy series with deep substance. Both got just the right amount of humor that anyone is sure to enjoy. And besides that, they're of the most exciting series ever. Both of some fast pacing and only you're in, it's like a rollercoaster. You can't stop watching once you start. There's many reference to AB! in Charlotte too. While they're different in the theme and mood, they've got some deep hidden themes. While Angel Beats! focuses on the meaningfulness of life , Charlotte's hidden massage lies in the power of courage. If you can understand those, they're sure to become your most favorite series ever. What else do they share in common: -Great and likeable characters -Life struggles -Meaningful songs and in-anime bands -Great visuals and OST -Fish Saito and Sky-High Saito!  

The writing style of these two are very similar, mixing in good comedic moments, decent action, and slife of life genericisms,with dark elements that while dont perfectly blend; still compliment eachother. Add in a decent amuont of emotional tension from the previous episodes and all youre mising is a romantic subplot.  

They have a similar feel to it. Angel Beats starts off sort of silly but with a paranormal twist to it. Even thought it sounds like it could get serious, it mostly tries to keep a focus on the comedy side. Still it gets dark and sad at times, but it tries to balance them out. Charlotte also has a similar start. There are mostly jokes and fun times at the start, but things get more serious as the story progresses. The difference is that once the seriousness starts, there aren't many comedic moments afterwards. Still, both series are quiet entertaining to watch with their mix of supernatural and daily lifestyle combined. If you liked Angel Beats there is a chance you might like Charlotte and vice versa.   

Both has same produders. Animation, characters and climate are very similar by entire time of watching. Humorous when can and serious when must that's how those animes are. 

Coming from the same producers, both anime have the same feel. The combination of action, fun and drama is true with both shows. 

Made by same people, and both have a similar idea (school/supernatural/romance). Both Charlotte and Angel Beats! are great anime, each in their own right. For Angel Beats!, I recommend giving it at least 3 episodes before deciding whether to continue or drop it. 

I found Charlotte and Angel Beats! to be extremely similar. They're both original works by Jun Maeda, and are both by the studio PA Works, so it's no wonder why they turned out like that. Everything except the premises, the basic plot lines, of these two shows are practically identical. Art, animation, characters, comedy, pacing, aesthetic, music, supernatural elements... going back to the characters, I'm pretty sure Charlotte's cast is basically a bunch of carbon copies of Angel Beats! characters minus a few people. Now, personally I hated both of these shows, so if you dislike one, you more than likely are going to dislike the other as well. But if you like one, then you'll probably like the other as well. Probably. Although I'd say Charlotte's giant gaping plot holes and inconsistencies are less noticeable than Angel Beats!'s. Throughout my time watching Angel Beats!, I could not stop comparing it to Charlotte. They're too alike!  

Both shows have a similar artstyle and (personally) I find them very pretty. The story is deep in both cases, and you just want to watch more of it. Also, both anime have a "good" ending, as you don't mind the story finishing there. Lastly, these two series have many different characters, and a love story which isn't ecchi or harem (FINALLY!). 

These both are very good animes that will make u cry to death.Like angel beats this has: saddness a good story a good ending and is super Awesome i loved this soo much and idk how but i thought of angel beats every time i watched a episode 

Drama anime which will make you feel in an emotional turmoil after some scenes. Contains supernatural and sci-fi elements. 

The series are similar dramas from the same creators. They both have characters with special abilities in them and both the protagonists join a group in a school and do missions for them. If you like the type of emotional storytelling Key Studios is known for, you should enjoy both the series. 

Both are produced by P.A. Works and Maeda Jun. Second, Charlotte is littered with Angel Beats references, and I mean littered. Also, you will board the feels train, cuz this is Maeda Jun we are talking about. An excellent portrayal and Maeda's second chance at a fantastic creation 

it's made by the same author and studio ~both story lines are identical if i may say.. ~both have similar great art and character, and both are a school, drama and Superpowers shows, almost the same at everything. ~both are 13 episode long, short and easy to watch. ~both will leave you crying at the end of it....  

Time for pointing the similarities between these two shows. Both Charlotte and Angel Beats: - Were written by Jun Maeda. - Are from the same studio, P.A. Both written by Maeda Jun. Both have beautiful soundtracks. Are both set in high school and have a similar set of characters. Both have some nice drama, music, comedy & romance.  

both are the same as taking school background, and have a good mix between: Action, Comedy, Drama, Romance and a little supranatural ... 

From the same studio, and a story just as beautiful. This is an example of how two different stories look a like so much. You can also find the personalities of all Charlotte characters back in Angel Beats (reincarnations?). 

Both anime share similar themes of loss, friendship, and the struggle to overcome past regrets. 

They're written by the same writers, the female protagonist looks exactly like Angel, protagonist has a sappy back story, high school setting, music inserted via a pop idol + pop rock band, tsundere protagonist who's bossy, leader of the group, misunderstood and hence disliked by others, lonely.... does this sound like anybody else? Yeah, she's a mish-mash of Yuki and Angel. Loads of other similarities too, including how the series jumps from comedy to drama to loads of other things I can't mention because I don't want to spoil the series.  

so watching these, you might not catch it at first but the animes have the same atmosphere. A group of kids trying to make it by while still having that kind of sad feel to it, it's made by the same person so that's also probably why it has the same feel. But do check it out if you havent already. The anime is great, also has a nice story to it 

Another good Anime from Jun Maeda if you enjoyed Charlotte you will enjoy Angel Beats! too or vice versa  

I'm not telling you that both theses shows are the same because the opening has the same animation quality, the opening music brings the same feelings, the set-up is the same, the character set-up is the same, the cruel world in which they live in is cruel, the characters have tragic pasts, the characters from both shows have a lot in common, the art style is the same and the plot twists brings the same feelings but yeah, I'm telling you that both these shows are the same. 

I did not like both of these anime due to how messy their stories were, but if you like to watch stuff that might as well make you cry, smile, and laugh, then check both of them out. They were made by the same writer, Maeda Jun. 

Both have a similar story line. From the same studio so similar art styles.  

You like music? Good. Angel beats is about a load of young people who were killed. For some reason they were tormented, and forced to live forever in a high school. In this, they set themselves a target for the biggest bullies who ever died. Bullying this young girl who doesn't communicate well with others, they force her to develop new ways to manipulate her body for defense. In the anime, these stubborn children refuse to come to terms with their deaths and move on. It isn't until very late in the anime when they are forced to give up immortality that they actually move on. Up till that point, you are allowed to enjoy some of the most heart warming scenes ever put into an anime, as well as one of the best soundtracks. Charlotte tells of a boy with powers who meets other adolescents with powers. In the end it resorts to time travel. These kids, with fantastic abilities, are hunted down and tested on like lab rats for being special. As a result, the main character and pals try to save the others. The anime has a lot of good music in it, and has a few episodes that focus a lot on the band that you'll probably forget the name of after watching Angel Beats. Z something or the other.... Anyway the lead singer is blind. The anime uses impairments a fair bit as a way of getting you to feel for a characters situation. One of the side characters is mentally unstable, and only Z's music can calm him down. The power of music! So if you like music with a side story of action, then these two anime are well worth watching.  

Both shows are made by the same studio and have a similar art style. Both shows focus on emotions and have supernatural stuff in it. The way the shows were executed reminds me a lot of each other. 

Feels. Lovely story and characters. Has action subgenre tag. Romance is good. 

Impacted with the idea of supernaturalism, both are original stories written by Jun Maeda with similarities alike to one another. While they started off as lighthearted comedies with a tinge of silliness, the group of teenagers will have to face emotional turmoils leading up to drama, action, and subtle romance. Backed by a beautiful quality in audiovisual, these two are the manifestation of a touching tale. 

These two anime have the same atmosphere, I would say. They both involve a male main protagonist who is thrown into a new situation he is mostly unfamiliar with, and forms bonds with the other characters. Both of these anime teach important lessons about what to value in life. It also is one of the reasons why I'm an organ donor ;) 

They're both pretty funny at many points, contain some action, but despite all of that, they both manage to become serious and depressing. 

Both series are created by the fabulous Jun Maeda, are adapted from Key visual novels, supernatural and school setting, features a main character with silver hair (Angel & Nao), and the series opening and ending were sung by Lia and Aoi Tada, respectively. 

Both are produced from the same creator and studio. The comedy and the themes are really similar and enjoyable if you like one of them. However, both had the same flaws, consisting of rushed pacing near the end. 

Many of the creators and staff behind Angel Beats went on to create Charlotte, so there are many similarities—some of the same character archetypes (Takajou is literally Takamatsu in terms of appearance and same voice actor); a supernatural anime that primarily takes place at a school and kinda has slice-of-life-ish episodes; a group of students at said school being lead by a girl with a serious attitude; an interesting blend of comedy, drama, and action; music, etc... honestly I could go on, if you've seen one of these, go ahead and try the other. 

Angel beats and charlotte have the same structure: the first half of the show is comedy based and the second one is drama based. I found Charlotte much more clearer to follow and better in general terms. It had a stronger impact on me than Angel Beats 

Same author, same design, similar drama sense. 

Another creation of Maeda Jun sensei which can make anyone cry like a baby. A plot and the stroy of evry individual characters is well established and nicely placed. The whole anime is heart warming with amazing soundtracks and the ending has a different feel to it. 

Class of the preternatural. Angel Beats and Charlotte follow abnormal schools in which the MCs all spend time together as well as helping one another out during these times. With AB, uninformed Otonashi is teleported into a school located in the Afterlife. With Charlotte, Yuu is sent to Hoshinoumi Academy, an academy with teenagers having special powers. Both anime present Otonashi's and Yuu's time with their allocated groups learning about different people's values in life. Both are pleasing heartwarming comedic anime with a side of supernatural elements and drama by the same creator Jun Maeda.  

These anime both have similar comedy, as much as drama. Both of them also includes action. Just like the series some of the characters in both series have some kind of super natural abilities. They're both written by 'Jun Maeda' (麻枝 准) 

Similar slice of life and emotional, with powers being a focus for one and a side effect for another, both portray a good story line sensible to one who watched either animes. 

A group of students with odd fantasy traits try to carry out a normal school life while solving the issues related to their condition. Action, comedy, cute girls and a bit of melodrama for the casual and experienced anime fan. 

I was surprised by the fact that in this anime, they went to a kissaten (store) and in this kissaten (store) you can see in the background that there's a poster of the anime angel beats, this is almost and advertisement saying that if you've watched this anime you most watch angel beats. Both of these animes have really sad things and great musics/songs, graphics and everything else that you can imagine! This anime make you feel really connected with every character of the anime, this is the same for Angel Beats and Berserk for example, it's impossible not to cry! And in the top of all, they also play an music that's from the anime angel beats" If you've watched Angel Beats I know that you are eager and angry wishing and wanting and waiting for the next season, and this anime will make you feel the all these feelings, in the same way, for the exactly same reason! This anime can and will make you feel sad! Also like in Angel Beats, this anime has a focus, actually is a lot of focus in the making of another japanese band, totally original and unique like the band in the anime Angel Beats called Girls dead monster, but in this anime the band name zhiend, that is also really good, I'm not even sure if I can say that both bands are in the same level or not, I really need to stop everything to hear again the musics of the band zhiend to know it.  

Follows the story of a male protagonist that falls in love with a white haired female. They also have the same producer 

Both are amazing animes. Mood changing. I recommend watching one by one 

Angel Beats! and Charlotte come from the same creative team. Both follow a group of teenagers in a paranormal setting, Angel Beats being set in the Afterlife and Charlotte being set in a world where some teenagers gain superpowers upon entering puberty. They are similarly structured, being filled with comedy and wacky characters. If you loved Angel Beats, there's a high chance you'll like Charlotte. 

Charlotte is drama-action anime that doesn't show it's full "power" at the beginning. In the first ~8 episodes the anime is already good but the end is the insane and lovely part. It's the same at Angel Beats!, at the beginning they show you a normal good anime but then it totally changes and becomes totally interesting. In general i think this anime is a must-watch, if you haven't watched it yet, do it! 

Both have energetic leaders and lead a team which works to fulfill a particular goal. Both have bands and though the leaders of these bands appear for a brief period of time, they play a vital role and have a greater impact later in the whole series Leaders of the team in both anime have a sad past. One of the main characters in both anime have a family member who are very influential in the character development, combined with their tragic past.  

Similarities: Both are written by Maeda Jun Both mixed with emotions which can make you laugh, cry, or even be depressed (lol I don't mean it) Characters of both shows have supernatural powers where they attend special schools Both Female MCs has the same colour hair 

Both are original made by Jun Maeda. And they both have a sad ending. Although, Angel beats feels more sad feeling compared to Charlotte. Both are almost similar in terms of storyline, Starting from the Drama, the Heroine, the Mystery in it, Jun Maeda's good work. 

Similarities: 1. They are produced by the same company P.A.Works and Aniplex 2. They both have male leads 3. Same genre 4. The opening is sung by the same singer Lia 

The protagonist is a calm teenager, who is practically forced to join a group by a girl to face a threat. They are also very emotional both. 

Both are very emotional and have somewhat similar animation styles. The love interests of the main characters are also similar. While Angel Beats is much better, these 2 are alike. 

Both are amazing anime, especially charlotte, but thats pretty biased on my part Both start off as a comedy Both have similar endings

These two gave me the same feels as I dig deeper into the episodes. At the end, I did cry but got me wondering the time I re-watch both on why I cried? LOL! but both are good for newbies, well that's my opinion. Not too heavy, not too shallow.

Both are fairly emotional anime, however Angel Beats tends to focus more on humor, while Clannad will tug at your heart strings and make you teary eyed. 

Both stories have alternative worlds, clubs, some fighting in between but most importantly it focuse on emotions same way as Angel Beats. Almost each character has some kind of problems or regrets and is trying to overcome them. And we have a main character Tomoya who also tries to help his friends. 

Both have similiar characters (kotomi-kanade (they are just the same!), yuri-kyou (they are strong), otonashi-okasaki (they're similiar in EVERYTHING), yui-mei (soooo funny), shiina-fuko (love cute things), hatsune-nagisa (sweet and sick), noda/hinata-sunohara (they are bastads). And both make the people cry! 

But funny and sad, and about life, and made by the same company. Both animes with give the viewer an emotional reaction ;3; 

Both made by Jun Maeda. Has some situations similar to each other(i.e. Tomoya and Nagisa helping Fuuko; Yazuru and Kanade helping Yui) and both managed to make me cry. 

Angel Beats! and Clannad are anime that do a great job of being dramatic and emotional while still being very funny. Both of them also feature amazing, and kinda similar animation and character designs. While watching each series the viewer is drawn into the lives of the characters themselves that are trying to fight the imperfections that exist in each of their worlds and strive to overcome the obstacles standing in their paths. They find love as well as friendship and experience loads of dramatic moments that will leave you wanting for more in the end. If you liked watching one of them I highly recommend trying out the other.  

Although the emotional train is not as strong as it is in Clannad, Angel Beats still manages to deliver a heart-warming and tear-jerking story as everything unfolds. Other simpler similarities between the two are the fact that they are both made by Key, and that Lia has sung an intro for both of them (Although in Clannad's case, it's After Story's intro). If you loved Clannad, then you'll surely grow to love, if not, like Angel Beats to an extent. 

Keys Studios is the developer of both Clannad and Angel Beats. Clannad is well known and has a large fan base, but Angel Beats, being newer, is still on the rise. The story is great, surpassing Clannad in some aspects, and definitely deserves more attention. It is should easily make the top 30 anime list. 

If you became emotionally involved in the Clannad storyline and enjoyed it, then you'll probably enjoy Angel Beats! as well. And vice versa. They're very similar in the respect that both have character development/interaction as a key selling point. Also, I should note that both are truly touching stories that will have you really feeling happy or sad for the characters. I definitely recommend both of these for any type of anime lover that hasn't seen either of them. :) 

First off, both are works created by Key. Secondly, both series conveys emotions mixed in with comedy that has potential to bring viewers to tears. There are some confusing story plots that may seem confusing (the randomness of Angel Beats, the "illusion world of Clannad) but it all fits into a puzzle once you watch it. There are also romance (less so in Angel Beats) but overall, both of these series are something to look out for especially if you're a fan of Key's other works. 

Both are school life anime that deal with the spiritual world in a hidden and deep concept. They both face endearing struggles that can tug at anyone's heart strings.

Both anime involves a guy helpin out a chick with a club although in Angel beats its a club of supposed dead people both anime are quite-light hearted with a few serious moments both are romance/dramas 

Both these series are of my absolute favorites! Their story-lines are of tragedy, slice of life, romance and many hilarious moments. I think they are both so worthy to watch. They both consist of many genres which I love in anime- tragedy, slice of life, romance, supernatural and etc. Please check em both out they are very worth your time, HIGHLY recommend! 

Same company (Key) behind Clannad, Kanon, and Air. Also shares a few elements with them such as the spiritual realism thing and of course sadness. Funny, addicting, and very sad anime. 

Both of these series were made by Key, and both take place in a school setting. They both manage to have strong balances of drama and comedy, with some romance on the side. Both are very emotional and are likely to make you cry. 

The backstory of the characters on both anime are very touching. Last episodes will surely make you cry. Kinda depressing after the endings.

The story is a little hard to get your head around at first but if you pull through the first couple episodes you will see the same comedy and ideals that were in clannad in angel beats! The story will touch you just as clannad did and even make you think about your own life.  

When you start watching it, it gives you the same vibe that you cannot explain till the end of each anime. Boy meets girl and try to help them in any way they can. They both have a similar ending, but in Clannad, its in the second season. 

They both have a lesson/meaning in their story,also they are from the visual novel brand Key, who produced such titles as Kanon and Air which created their Anime/Manga. Both are really Emotional and Funny both English Dub and English Sub are Great in both Clannad and Angel Beats 

Both anime were made by Key and have an amazing storyline with awesome soundtracks. Both have very moving endings and are enough to bring tears to one's eyes. Clannad's first season is more character development and the second season is the emotional heart-wrenching season, as opposed to Angel beats which has a smaller time gap for character development. Both anime start of funny and then get serious. If you like one, you'll most likely like the other! 

Now, Clannad really gave me a hard emotional attack. And since I was a little younger back then, the impact on me was absolute. The ending really made up for all the downs in the story, plus the other two arcs which I really enjoyed. On the other hand, Angel Beats, having new and different types of emotional approach while still maintaining a good sense of originality, exists. The way its story goes indifferently gives quite a shock. Both have great drama as well as comedy. Good balance, plot, character settings, originality, and impression. 

Both are by the same author. Both contain a slew of likable characters in a school setting ("school" for Angel Beats), and both will tug at your heartstrings until you're crying the river nile. 

Not only are they both created by the same visual arts company, but they both share the common themes of life, death, loss, and pressing on. Angel Beats is beautifully animated with engaging characters and a heartwarming story. Give it a watch. 

If you're looking for another heart-warming anime, than Angel Beats is the one for you! It's just as tragic as Clannad, with a fair share of romance as well. With only 13 episodes, it won't take away that much time from you-- and definitely deserves a chance! It's short, sweet, and one of my favorites. 

both anime rip apart your hearts from a overload of emotions as the main characters enjoy their daily lives with some twists and sad moments in between.

The first season is a bit low running just to explain the story and everything, but can still make you fall in love with the series like you do the second you lose the first character you become attached to in angel beats. I would recommend this because of how upsetting it eventually gets but if you push through you may get something out of it you don't with angel beats!. 

Angel Beats & Clannad both have superb character development, so much so that the viewer becomes emotionally tied to the characters in the animes. Both anime are on the romantic side, however Angel Beats has a lot of action that would satisfy the thrill seekers while Clannad is more on the real life struggles side. However, both have unique love stories that will leave you in tears by the end. 

Clannad and Angel Beats will take you on an emotional roller-coaster, although I would say that Clannad is the more emotional in the long run. These wonderful works possess similar characteristic of: -School based life (for the most part of Clannad) -Struggles characters face throughout the story (the average KEY formula as it were) -Very "happy go lucky" atmosphere  

They are both top of the line when it comes to drama/romance/comedy anime. both will make you laugh but both will make you cry like BIATCH!  

Angel Beats! was my opening anime and I can assure you that nothing could replace it as my favorite anime, not even a Clannad masterpiece. But with its capturing drama, fantastic action, hilarious comedy, and wonderful characters, it should be more than enough to fill in that hole that Angel Beats! made. Clannad is rather similar to Angel Beats! and they do get compared a lot. Although Clannad is a lot more emotional that Angel Beats!, in my opinion it's due to the lack of Angel Beats! episodes. The two anime have many characters that you will learn to love, and although some parts might confuse certain people, the stories are wonderful nevertheless. Clannad's characters will grab hold of you and never leave your side; they will pull you back into the Clannad world within hours of you finishing the anime. The art is beautiful and obvious detail goes into different scenes. Although Clannad doesn't have as much action as Angel Beats! does, the wonderful drama makes up for it. In conclusion, the anime are similar through their wonderful characters and genres.

[May contain some spoilers] Both series: ~ mainly take place at a school ~ the main character wants to help the other characters with accomplishing their dreams or help them with problems ~ have some supernatural elements in it ~ have realistic and dramatic background stories of some characters 

Both are written by Key. They both have scenes that makes you cry and some that make you laugh. Overall these are similar; the only slight difference is that Angel Beats is more focused on humor and Clannad is more focused on emotion. 

Pretty much the same. The drama is there, same creator, both have awesome plot and are totally worth watching. If u enjoyed one of them you will deffinetly love the other. Although Angel Beats has more of an impact compared to the other, and also it has much deeper plot (in some parts anyway). 

Both shows are Key productions and are real tear-jerkers. Clannad probably makes you shed more tears, whereas Angel Beats! puts its focus on humor more often—but the end has just as much of an emotional impact as Clannad. In both shows, the characters are key points to the story. As for the setting, both shows take place in a high school setting. In short, if you loved one, you are very likely to love the other as well! 

Heart warming and tear jerking story lines. Drama, comedy and a touch of romance rolled into one. Clannad and Angel Beats! generally have a similar atmosphere, centered on school and a group of friends. However, Angel Beats! may have a lighter feel to it compared to Clannad but both anime are good and were original creations of Key. They may share a number of similarities, but both series have a lot of unique points that will certainly strike you in a way and leave something in your heart. If you don’t mind taking another ride on the Feels bus, then I recommend you to watch the other.   

The plot has little in common besides been based in a school environment thrz really no similarity.. The main reason y I made this recommendation is coz of the emotional pull in both anime .....both are heart harming storys that could make u sherd tries or put a smile one your face....both have memorable character s u grow to lov ... The to shows may have alot of difference' s to many to start listing but for some strange reason u get the same feeling from both of thiz great .shows 

They're both packed with feelz and both have relatable characters you would get punished for falling in love with. They also share the whole different dimension/world aspect that somehow correlates to the main plot.

Clannad (Season 1) might be the perfect Anime for Angel Beats! fans. It has something mysterious over the whole season, nice looking & kind characters and a lot of fun in it. The charisma is really Angel Beats! like. Note: Same director. 

They are both extremely sad! ;~; They also have this feeling of wanting to go live a life with meaning and someone to share it with. 

This anime is similar to Clannad in the fact that it also has emotion and humour mixed but Angel Beats! is a different type of anime as it also has some action. Just wish there were more episodes of it! 

- beautiful animation and soundtracks - spirits and supernatural elements - these series can make a person go from crying like a baby to laughing with all their heart and vice versa in a matter of minutes 

-Both have lots of sad moments targeted right for your heart -Both have ridiculous yet hilarious comedy relief -Both have similar music and openings -The characters don't have similar personalities, but it feels like if there was a crossover between the two series, the characters would get along with each other well. As a bonus, they have similar designs. 

Ok. We all know this one. These two animes -wanna hug your heart -has a quite depressing plot line -Makes you feel many emotions -main character somehow have similar head (don't judge me!) -amazing Opening theme song! If you enjoyed any of these points in Angel beats/Clannad, then definitely go for the other one. They are both generally great animes. 

If Angel Beats made you cry, don't doubt it, try Clannad. While Angel Beats feels a bit rushed and its final episode, although is good, you have no time to fully empathize with the characters to enjoy the anime to its full potential, Clannad takes a first season with pretty good storyline to know the characters. This season has some of the best comic scenes i've ever seen (like Angel Beats) and some dramatic moments, but if you are looking for Angel Beats' drama... Here it is, Clannad: After Story, probably the best anime drama i've ever seen and you'll ever seen, a true masterpiece and personally my favourite anime. However, it is necessary to watch both seasons, so take a look.  

Both of them have a good amount of comedy, they have a really good developped characters and in both of them have unexpected events you should't see come and hits right in your feelings. 

Jun Maeda did the original story for both as well as the music. If you like to cry go ahead and watch you masochist. 

Both are made by Key Studios and have supernatural elements in them. Both main characters get involved with a club in a school and learn about the touching backstories of other characters. If you enjoy the type of emotional storytelling Key is known for, you'll probably enjoy both the series. 

Both Key works, both very emotional tales about high school. Romance plays a smaller role in Angel Beats!, but it's still present. 

It certainly gives you a good cry. It is about the importance of family, the importance of love. That no matter how far away someone seems, they are really right beside you.

Angel Beats and Clannad go hand in hand. It is hard for me to talk about one without the other. Each has its own unique story, but almost the same feeling to it. Both are tear-jerkers even for the people who rarely cry to anime. Happiness and comedy are mixed in with the serious moments. I would highly recommend Angel Beats to fans of Clannad and Clannad: After Story. (Bonus: Angel Beats and Clannad share many voice actors in both English and Japanese!) 

Clannad and Angel Beats! share the similiar Supernatural settings, which is very interesting and worth to watch. Angel Beats! is simply an afterlife while Clannad is how you live your life with your own way. 

Both were originally visual novels written by the same guy, and they have a very similar tone and feel. They both revolve around high school settings with some supernatural aspects, the lead is a straight man to the wackiness of the other characters, and both seek to make you laugh and cry in equal measure. 

If you like romantic comedy animes like Angel Beats! then I can almost guarantee that you'll enjoy Clannad. They have over the top humor while still being serious when needed. Clannad, like Angel Beats!, is a sad but still heartwarming anime that plays with your emotions. 

Our special bonds. Angel Beats and Clannad follows groups of students who spend their times creating bonds with one another in their school lives. Though Angel Beats story follows Yuri and the SSS in a battle against God. Whereas, Clannad, is refined of any battles. Both stories give MCs Otonashi and Tomoya to find the value of people around them and of themselves whether it be through fighting, for AB or helping others out, for Clannad. Both anime are tasteful heartwarming comedies by KEY, with supernatural and drama in a school atmosphere. 

Both of these anime were made by the same studio and both are set in a school environment with a supernatural element in it. They both have depressing endings and emotional scenes through out the series. If you loved canned/angel beats then you are sure to like the other.

Fans of melodramatic stories shrouded by comedic elements and a more light-hearted setting will enjoy both animes, as they both progressively build up their stories for full emotional impact, making you develop strong connections to the characters and their situations. 

They are both anime that closely explore tragic situations in a realistic and down-to-earth way. Because of this, they are likely to leave an impression on you in similar ways.

These two are really similar. They are both somewhat sad and pull off a comedic result sometimes which is amazing for that type of anime. Much like Clannad, Angel Beats delves into the lives of side characters often and the main character helps relieve their shoulders of the burdens they were carrying before. They are both great shows and have great audio soundtracks. 

Many similar characters, both have some kind of club and supernatural aspects 

Some band playing in animu, characters, gods... Just gives the same feeling. 

Both main characters have extremely similar personalities and furthermore, both series give similar feeling while watching it. 

Yurippe is extremely similar to Haruhi, in both appearance and personality. There are other character similarities as well (Otonashi = Kyon, Angel = Yuki) although they aren't quite as strong. The more lighthearted episodes of Angel Beats remind me of the non-Melancholy episodes of Haruhi, although the shows have different styles when it comes to dramatic plots. 

Angel Beats main character resembles Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya's main character a lot. Yuri as crazy as Haruhi and have same kind of personality besides not only main char even story is unique too [ this is also same for another way :) ] 

School setting with a group of teens and a suttle aproach to the supernatural. Leaders in both teams are know-it-all girls with an agenda (who also look alike), whilst the leading males are the non-doormat yet not highly assertive type. 

Both have fantasy and very similar atmospheres and main characters, and don't take themselves too seriously.

They have the same feeling. They're in school, in a club, in a sort of club. The leaders are so similar, in attitude and design. They have mysteries and a lot of fun. 

i would say , they are both great animes to watch and characters are very similar Like Otonashi - Kyon , Haruhi - Yuri , Kanade - Yuki . And they both have mysterious surrounding xD . 

I find the two main characters of these TV series strikingly similar. Suzumiya Haruhi is very similar to Yuri. They are both headstrong characters with great leadership skills that lead their groups to "mischief" (to put it generally). If you love Haruhi, check out Angel Beats! Both are supernatural series but other than that they are pretty different. 

Paranormal things that happen are controlled by a certain person. 

They are both amazing animes that have some similar qualities. While Angel Beats also has a more serious and sad side to it, it is also very humerus and comedic like The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. They both have the light-hearted school/club element, and the club leaders are both very enthusiastic. While neither of them are very focused on romance, they each have some romance between the characters that make the stories more interesting. I think that regardless of their similarities and differences, both Angel Beats and the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya are amazing shows that deserve to be watched, and you will love them. 

Very similar in main characters being rebellious females leading a group. A lot of supernatural and slice of life as well as humor, romance and action. Also, similar music/concert scenes.

Suzumiya Haruhi is very similar to Angel Beats. There is a strong female lead character with involvement with sci-fi aspects, there's also minor romance involved in both series. The variety of characters in both series do share similar character archetypes. If you liked Suzumiya Haruhi, you'll enjoy Angel Beats. 

Both are mystery comedies based on similarly strange supernatural premises. Both do a great job of revealing a little bit more information each episode, which changes how you view the story and keeps things fresh.

It's obvious that angel beats took some parts here and there from Suzumiya Haruhi. Both are the leader of a Club, both have a similair style especailly the sailor school uniform looks really close angel beats is suzumiya haruhi no yuutsu just with more emotion but a much more senseless story and a very devastating bad 13th episode

Not long after starting Angel Beats, I was surprised of how similar it was to (The Melancholy of) Haruhi Suzumiya series. First of all, the MCs: Otonashi (Angel Beats!) = Kyon (Haruhi Suzumiya) Both are the "normal" type of guy, who's enrolled into something despite themselves. They follow a group, somewhat uninterested, but enjoy it in the end. They are VERY similar. The Setup: Afterlife Battlefront (Angel Beats!) ~=~ SOS Brigade (Haruhi Suzumiya) Both take place in school (Slice of Life), and their "headquarters" are both a Club room. Both series don't take itself seriously thus include comedy. Overall: You follow the MC mostly. School life, meets people, enjoy company, makes friend. However, Angel Beats! is more a Fantasy Action with some Slice of Life while Haruri Suzumiya is more Slice of Life with a bit of action. If you enjoyed one of these, I highly suggest giving a try to the other!  

The main female characters are very alike. Both lead a group that they made and actually, they kinda look like each other. The main male characters are also similar because they are the ones who realize the weirdness of their plans and also serve as a very important member of the group. 

The female protagonists, Yurippe and Haruhi, are very similar characters. Both are energetic Tsunderes Both are leaders of school clubs that deal with the paranormal Both have a knack for having their way. In addition, the male protagonists are characters one can connect to easily. They are your average down to Earth teenagers who have to deal with many weird occurances. The genre of the two animes is also the same. Both are school life shows with a supernatural twist. The main difference between the two is that Angel Beats! has a much darker side to it, while MHS is lighter in terms of plot (its episodes are slightly episodic) but arguably more entertaining.  

Both shows have a similar atmosphere and share a high school setting (although angel beats is set in the 'afterlife'). They both have elements of mystery and humor and some of the characters are quite similar like Haruhi<-->Yuri and Otonashi<-->Kyon.

Both have hot-headed female leads who are somewhat incharge of the rest. Both shows are bottom line hilarious, not to mention the fair share of seriousness they both contain. Comedy, Romance, Tragedy, and action in both shows. If you're a Suzumiya fan, you'll definitely be a fan of Angel Beats!. 

Both build off of the supernatural and revolve around it. Both have clubs and similar male and female protagonist. 

Both female leads look similar and have very similar characteristics, Both are about a group or club at a high school who go on spontaneous advanetures, both have a male lead who are placed in a situation unfamiliar to them but eventually just go with the flow, and both start off funny and light but get more and more deep as the story progresses.  

If you liked Angel Beats then I would highly recommend watching Haruhi, they both revolve around a club with quirky characters and there is some overlap in character tropes. In my opinion, the Haruhi series is better in just about every way. So I would recommend anyone who really liked Angel Beats to give it a try. 

Both take place in high school and both revolve around an eccentric club leader. Both shows are comedic and enjoyable. The Melencholy of Haruhi Suzumiya also has an incredible movie to conclude the series much better than the Angel Beats ending.  

Each show focuses on a group of students dealing with the supernatural. Haruhi and Yuri have very similar personalities and go about things the same way. Feature slice of life elements and not so slice of life elements throughout the series'.  

Both show us a girl as leader, who insatiably seeks an answer to the questions that she herself questions, not knowing that her response is so close to her. Both are related to the powers that are created by a being "divine" or "out of this world." Haruhi of the anime of the same name, look for aliens, espers, time travelers, who are created by their own existence and Yuri of the anime Angel Beats !, seeks angels and God, who are created in their mind, but are not real. The two series show two groups that perform different missions under the guidance of these girls, which are absurd and may not find anything revealing, or maybe yes. The protagonist will observe from the outside, almost giving nothing, only when the mysteries that its leader seeks reveal itself to him.  

High school boys, a crazy environment, a strong willed female protagonist, the world of Haruhi is pretty similar to the alternate world of angel beats. You will not have the feels that angel beats leave, but you will have the fun of a series of unexpected events that violate the law of physics. 

Yuri and Haruhi are similar characters, both energetic, group leaders, and struggling against resignation; Yuri doesn't want to disappear and re-make her life, and Haruhi rejects the idea of having an ordinary life and disappear from the world without anyone that remind her. Despite the melancholic concept that both shows can hold, there is a lot of comedy into them, and the atmosphere, it's similar as for slice of life, and also comedy is referred.

In my opinion, these animes have a similar atmosphere, something serious happening but with a lot of humor and characters that do not show much interest in this serious thing. If you really enjoyed Angel Beats I would definitively consider watching the Haruhi series. If there is any shows that I have seen that are strikingly similar to Angel Beats, the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is the first that comes to mind. Both are very similar in their approach to the formula of the series. A main male protagonist gets pulled into a school club led by a strong female lead into a world he is unfamiliar with. Also both have another lead female character who is quiet, mysterious and very strong. Both have comical, emotional and serious subject matter that is shrouded in mystery. To summarize, they are both exceptionally great series in their own right and very unique.

Both have a ya cast,a school setting and are focused on the day to day settings and also lots of great sakuga as well as character and art designs. 

Angel Beats!, while being fundamentally distinct, references Suzumiya Haruhi in many ways that shouldn't go unnoticed. A lot of the characters in Angel Beats!'s Afterlife Battlefront feel like less-extreme, more flushed-out versions of SOS Brigade members. Like, how Otonashi is similar to Kyon in that he's the only "normal" one in the brigade, or how Yurippe is similar to Haruhi herself in that they both take charge and order everyone in the group to partake in silly tasks with a silly goal in mind. Despite this, the characters in Angel Beats! are still able to feel original given that they all possess heart wrenching backstories, and have dialed back on the extreme goofiness from Suzumiya Haruhi in order to fit better into the more serious show.  

The characters are very alike. Both animes also have different, unique worlds, magical things, bands playing etc. 

Our male protagonist, a rather regular guy, gets pushed around by an unbearable (yet lovely) girl to do a bunch of crazy stuff they would have otherwise never done. There's action and a lot of humor in both animes, and even live music performances. They pretty much give the same vibe. 

Its as if I'm watching angel beats 2.0. The comedy is enjoyable but repitative however I somewhat love the way the characters all fool around and at the same time there can be consequences if they mess up. 

Some pholosophy about life and death, very sensual anime. 

Two stories that reflect on the nature of life and regrets, but also laughing and having fun in between. 

Although their themes are really different with Death Parade being undoubtedly a whole lot darker, they both deal with afterlife and greatly show the value of life. 

Just imagine Otonashi waking up in Quindecim instead of in the Afterlife. They're both great anime. 

Both are about a realm within the afterlife and contain serious as well as comedic parts. They are supernatural and deal with psychological issues and lost memories. 

They're both set in the afterlife, with one main character with amnesia and the other a white-haired emotionless person. There's a lot of drama concerning each character's past (more so in Death Parade) and some comedic moments (More so in Angel Beats!). I consider both of them masterpieces. 

Both of these 2 animes talks about what happens after death and each one has its unique and exceptional world 

Judging life from the afterlife. Both are about looking back on one's life and moving forward. Angel Beats is a little more comedic while Death Parade is a little more serious. 

Both seek to dead humans. They specialize in flashback, showing the good side and the bad of life, when the protagonists were alive. 

Both these two anime deals with death and what happens to human people when they die. Surely in Death Parade there is a darker atmosphere than in Angel Beats, but it is clear that in all this two anime feelings and the way of thinking of every character are considered really important. Then, in both these two anime is shown how unfair life can be with people, and how they react to this injustice. Finally, both in Death Parade and in Angel Beats is taken into consideration the possibility for souls to be reincarnated in another body. 

Although the overall moods of the two shows differs slightly, with Death Parade being noticeably darker, and Angel Beats including more comedy, both have overarching plots, but are at their feels-inducing best when focusing on episodic, character(s)-of-the-week arcs. Both also involve afterlife settings, and revolve around the characters coming to terms with not just their deaths, but the lives they led as well. 

Both heavily focus on the concepts of death and passing on. Angel Beats aims towards reincarnation and making the most of the life you had while Death Parade focuses on judging people's lives to have been humane or not. 

- Both stories follow the concept of the transition between death and the afterlife. - Both series deal with judgement and moving on after death. - Both have different ways of dealing with death and unfinished business but both shows have the people who have passed on work through their lives and in the end move on to wherever they need to go. - Both shows tug at your emotions and feelings as you feel empathy for the characters. - Both shows also make you think seriously and offer some thought provoking moments. - Both of these animes operate on a different plane of existence. Making us all think what really happens after we die. - Both of them bring out emotions you never thought you had with dramatic, intense storylines and memories from the characters. - Both anime have a touching ending and are filled with loveable characters that you will easily get attached to. - Both shows are well-crafted, and have creative imagery and beautiful animation. Overall, Death Parade is far darker than Angel Beats, but if you enjoyed one, you would likely enjoy the other.  

Both of these anime deal with people in the afterlife dealing and coming to terms with what they did while they were alive in order to "pass on." The circumstances for the two are very different, but at the basis, the situations of the characters' lives were similarly stressful. Death Parade goes more in depth into each individual's past while creating a more dark, serious atmosphere partially masked by the games played. Angel Beats! is a much more light-hearted show overall while working in more stressful scenes later on. Even with these differences, both shows were tear-jerking in the same way and I automatically thought of Death Parade as I went deeper in Angel Beats!.   

Well for starters they both take place after death. Both plots are about going to heaven. Or in their stories getting reincarnated. Over time you get to learn pretty much everyones backstories. Either good or bad. Their backstories are really detailed. And in the end they have a nice happyish ending!  

They're both dealing with a situation between life and afterlife. They also emphasize on the decisions of life and how they affect both someone and the people around him, even after death. 

The concept is the same, they both take place in afterlife and characters with sad backgrounds. But for me Angel Beats is more colourful? It has all bunch of things in the same place like comedy, drama, action... But Death Parade goes on in the same place and way.  

-In both the characters enter the afterlife and their hardships and regrets of past are portrayed. -The male mc of angel beats is pretty similar to the female mc of Death Parade.  

Both are in a world between life and death, afterlife. In Death Parade, the "guests" came to play a game where their lives are at stake. In Angel Beats the guests become students of a school. But both people are similar. All are dead, they can't remember their name or how they got in there, they got no memories of their deaths and all are pretty much invulnerable. Death Parade may took some plot seriously, deeply and darker that Angel Beats. Angel Beats is not as dark, but took every person background deeply. Though, there are much more comedies and cracks on Angel Beats. 

Death parade offers its characters the chance to assess their worldly lives whereas Angel Beats! leaves its characters to figure this out on their own in a state of limbo. Both shows are heavy on themes of death, more specifically making peace with the idea. 

Both these shows tackle the theme of what happens to you (or your soul) once you die. Heaven, hell, reincarnation or the void - your deeds decide your fate. Angel Beats had great potential but was a let down to me. Death Parade, on the other hand, is a must watch for those wanting to view something different from what anime usually has to offer.

Both are similar in that they talk about people who had terrible lives and how this affects them when they die, which leads to very emotional moments. Both have a main character being already dead so there couldn't really be a happy ending for both series. 

Both Animes talk about what happens in the afterlife and share the emotions of regret and sadness once you learn about your reason of death. In Death Parade, it's more intense though.  

well... it has a place where you go after you die, you regain your memories at one point in time. A lot of character development (if you like that sort of thing) and their both just good anime's in general so I suggest watching them anyway.

Death Parade and Angel Beats are two TV dramas set in the afterlife—a plane in between life and death. The story also feature many dead characters who don't remember their past at first, reflect on their lives, and sometimes think about what life and death mean to them throughout their time on this plane. These two TV dramas are very unique anime with a colorful cast of characters, a focus on tugging your heartstrings, and some of the best OPs I have ever seen/heard in anime. 

Purgatory world. Death Parade and Angel Beats give forth a story in purgatory, in which characters begin judging how and where one should move on into the next life. Death Parade is a dark story which tells the tale of Decim judging dead humans in whether they should go to heaven or hell via games. However, AB has a lighter tone which presents Otonashi's journey with the SSS in fixing past regrets in a battle against god before passing on. With Death Parade being a more serious, eerie anime, with an episodic plot. Angel Beats shows has a much softer, comedic atmosphere shrouded around it. Both with a fair amount of drama to spare.  

Both deal with the afterlife where the dead are placed in some sort of limbo. Both involve the question of humanity, moral ambiguity, and moving on. Angel Beats! approaches this with a lighter tone while Death Parade takes a more sinister and nihilistic approach. 

They are both involved in similar ideas. They take somewhat different routes. If you like one of them you will probably like the other.

Both rely on themes of afterlife, concretly on Buddhism. The characters enter afterlife world without their memories and to reincarnate they need to remember their past lifes. Also both series' characters have very sad backstories and very high "cry potential". Another similar thing is that both anime have emotionless character who each episode becomes more and more humane. 

Both are good afterlife anime, both teach you about stuff like: Don't give up on your life and they show the true human emotions. Both are completely rollercoasters of emotions so don't be fooled.  

Both are about dead people who have forgotten their past. They're very great anime's in general, made me hysterically cry.  

In this recommendation, I'll give you some aspects which fit into both series. Here are the similarities: 1. Both series has a serious intense conflict in their 'drama'. 2. 'Death Parade' and 'Angel Beats!' are the original Anime whom bringing up an 'Afterlife' theme. 3. The characters' development from both series, we as a watcher are already known each character before (Their past). 4. Pin point both series is all about the sins and regret. 5. There is one character whom has an important role throughout the series. *** Happy Watching from SBK *** 

The main characters for both of the shows are very alike, and both have nice character development. Their designs are kind of similar too. As for the plot, The story lines are different however if you were to watch Plastic Memories you can see what I'm trying to say hnnnnggg I just don't want to spoil anything, like they both tell you ahead of time whats going to happen yknow ? 

Both of these beautiful series starts off a little slow at first, but after a few episodes it starts picking up speed and the romance between the two main characters begin to unravel. They are both so bitter-sweet and they will definitely take you on an emotional roller coaster. If you cried to one, you will probably cry to the other one too and remember to prepare the tissues ;~; 

They are both tearjerkers and have pretty sad ending. The animation style is also very similar to that of Angel Beats

Different story and different context, but Angel Beats! (AB!) and Plastic Memories (PM) have some similarity. The drama element make both anime have the strong feels. Not only that, both female mc, Kanade (AB!) and Isla (PM) make the feels grow stronger. With their kuudere personality and long white hair, they ready to shake your heart and your feeling. And brace yourself for the ending, because say goodbye is not easy as you think. Watch it if you want to know what i mean. 

The series are both dramas that can get you emotional. In both anime, the main character meets an emotionless girl and gets to know her better throughout the series. The shows also deal with loss as the characters in both series can disappear by either getting obliterated or through retrievals. 

First of all, both are Emotional Anime In both anime the main characters are a boy and a white-haired girl. In the beginning of both anime the main characters dont know each other. While Plastic Memories is much more heart-breaking and romantic than Angel Beats, but Angle Beats compensate with comedy and action. You might cry in Angel Beats but you will for sure in Plastic Memories. SUMMING UP, if you want a Dramatic and Emotional anime watch Plasic Memories. If you dont want just an Romance anime and want a mixed between Emotion-Comedy-Action you must watch Angel Beats.

Both deal with love, and bringing closure to the end of an experience. It's the experiences that bind people together, and both are able to showcase it.

Both shows are grounded on the premise of inevitable death. More specifically, preparing oneself for disappearing from the world. As such, both explore the challenges that come from this in their own way. Plastic Memories focuses on the idea of androids in society. Androids that are so human, that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. As such, you can consider these androids humans with a predetermined lifespan of 8 years. The company who makes the androids are designated at retrieving them before their lifespan ends. This show follows a retrieval employee tasked at working with androids to retrieve others at the end of their lifespan. The androids within the facility are no exception. Angel Beats takes place in schoolgrounds. However, teachers are not present, nor much else. That is because everyone is already dead and the schoolground they reside in is limbo. This show follows a student who is roped into a group who rebels against the fate of their inevitable disappearance of fading from fulfillment. However, all lives fade in the end.  

The main reason I recommend this if you finished watching Angel Beats! is that the heroine of this story looks like Kanade. The progression of the story will make you love and get into the characters with its very good progression also top notch recommendation if you want another sad anime. This will make you tear up. 

Emotional and tearjerker anime from beginning to end. The characters are pretty similar. Good storyline. The romance and drama is quite good. The same end credit scene. 

Do you like to cry, but you're not hardcore enough for Clannad? Here you go. Angel Beats! starts out pretty calmly, but starts to escalate pretty quick around mid-series until the end of it. Plastic Memories kicks you in the feels hard starting on the first episode, which is pretty commendable, but isn't a constant tear jerker, and turns into more of a romance as it goes on, albeit a depressing one (I also really like the concept behind this one and the way it's executed.

Angel Beats is the whole package. First you laugh, then you cry, then you see some action, laugh again then BAM! MORE TEARS. my favorite anime of all time for sure.

Angel Beats and Plastic Memories both feature similar white-haired girls and both balance comedy with emotion very well. If you liked either show I would recommend giving the other a try.

If you're looking for an anime with pretty good storyline, character development, romance and actually a good ending. These are your go-to animes! I don't see these two talked about a whole lot which is a shame. They have a lot of beautiful and emotional moments that really stand out to you, may even cry a bit. It's definitely worth checking them out.

The storyline with both drags you in and you cannot stop watching untill the last seconds of the last episode. They are also both made by Key, who are well known for their amazing anime. If you loved Clannad and Clannad: After story, you will love Angel Beats. Now go watch, Laugh and cry. 

Both of these anime are from the same anime company and both have a similar feel (mix of comedy and serious elements). They also share a powerful theme that is incredibly touching :) 

The ending more or less gave me the almost same bitter sweet ending. Its one of those animes in which you kinda dont wish it to end but it kinda has to. Yes, it made me tear up, try it! 

Both visual novels are made by the company visual art's/key. Audience would love every character in both animes through the incredible back stories. Both contain extremely emotional tear jerking scenes as well as well-placed humor. Both animes contain the motif of love across dimensions.

Angel Beats! and Clannad, both have the nice Slice of Life and fantasy mix in them, obviously Angel Beats! has a lot less slice of life, but those back story for the main characters is amazing. It is a lot like Clannad as they both have the depressing factor in them, The only real difference is Angel Beats! is not so romance/drama based. I highly recommend both, now go watch em' 

First of all, Clannad: After Story and Angel Beats! are both made by the same studios: Key. With that in mind, much of the art work, story, music and characters will have the same sort of emotional feel to them. People who enjoyed Clannad will definitely love Angel Beats! and vise versa. While there are many similarities, none are exactly easy to spot in the beginning. There is a significant time skip between the making of Clannad and Angel Beats! for the art to have changed. Both create an emotional setting that cannot be ignored.  

These two series have same writer and can both invoke a whole mix of emotions. Both also have awesome OSTs. Angel Beats has really solid character development, and I was interested in all of the characters' stories. After Story did however lack a little and that will probably get me some flack, but I'll explain. In Clannad, they had AMAZING character development where you really got to know all the characters. But in After Story, it's just like "See ya everyone! Time to focus on Nagisa and Tomoya!" I really didn't care for that because Sunohara, Kyou, Tomoyo were all really well-done characters. What I didn't really understand was why waste the time of making the viewers interested in the other characters, only to pretty much just cut them out in After Story.  

They both are verry sad and they are made with a lot of heart. Clannad made me look on life in a different way. Angel beats is the same. It also made me look on life in a other angle. Watch theese to animes if you like sad stories who has a lot of work behind it! one last thing. Be prepared to cry //Sam

Both are tear-jerkers. If you are into anime such as Drama, Romance, or Slice of Life, this is for you. 

While this gets more mysterious, it is still similar to the first season. It feels more "melodic" than its predecessor and is a fantastic addition to the first season. I laughed sometimes, not as often as in the first season. Again, it is similar in charisma, character style and the fun factor is high. 

If you want to cry more after Clannad, you should watch Angel Beats because both anime have a lot of sadness an funny moments. And also have good ending for both anime.

Both are dramas, romance, and sad. Both have compelling stories and great character development. 

Both have comedy reliefs between the drama (if they didn't have this, I would make suicide) but the drama in the two is so big that it's imposible to not feel sad. The two made good reflectings about life and how harsh it can be. Characters in both are lovable, and the most important is that their suffering is yours. 

Eveyone, close your eyes. Now, imagine that you have just died. As you slowly open your eyes, you see a place. What would that place look like? Where would you be? Is it . . . the after-life?! This is exactly what happens to Otonashi Yuzuru, the main protagonist of Angel Beats. But, he finds himself walking in a rather common place—a school! Strangely enough, it's a school where the students are battling an angel who's trying to put them all to rest. Thinking with a jumbled-up mind, this place really be confused with the place known as the after-life. What's with the weird souls (students) and the infamous angel? And, is there any reason for the battle? All of these questions shall soon be answered in Angel Beats! Mind you, even with the lighthearted theme and the much-anticipated funny scenes, you might just find your tears falling down as you dig in deeper into the plot.  

Want another dose of sadness then this is one of the best shots, with a very good story progression. I can't say much more about this than watching Clannad then After Story, kinda speechless of how good this anime is. 

Both shows contain a spectacular drama, charismatic characters, a very entertaining plot, and a very beautiful ending.

Both shows focus on young adults dealing with different forms of trauma in different ways, both shows have very similar tones, and they both have very similar MCs. 

Similar stories filled with melancholy but with strong comedic elements. Both animes deal with friendship, family, loss and the human condition. They're also both set in a school life although Clannad is more of a coming of age story. They also both deal with the concept of alternate worlds. If anyone likes animes that are generally light-hearted and progressively let the sad aspects in to build up an increasingly impacting story, these are definitely two to watch. 

I don't know what you are looking for but if you are looking for an anime which is damn sad and also a little bit romantic, includes high school student, then I would recommend Angel Beats. Both them are sad and consists of high school students, it(Angel Beats) has romance but not in the level of Clannad, if you understand. But still I would recommend people to watch this show. 

For the same reason as the first Clannad series. You should watch 'Clannad' before watching 'Clannad: After story' as it is a squeal.

Opening up, both series have this air about them. The high school setting presents itself as normal, yet something tells the viewer it actually isn't normal. What isn't normal? Well, quite a few things, such as battling in school premises, but the school also holds secrets. 

-Jun Maeda is the writer of Little Busters! that also wrote Angel Beats, Air, Clannad, and parts of Kanon -The setting is similar but the story's concept goes on a different direction. If you love Angel beats, you will love this anime (because of all these strong similarities). 

Both series involves the same writer, Jun Maeda. LB! and Angel Beats! has a similar feeling that involves supernatural themes set in a lighthearted mood with its cast of characters. Both series also involves a group of friends doing various activities and having fun. Both series has similar concepts and the main male protagonist has similar personalities. Both series' soundtrack also has a smooth melody as well as a lighthearted OP song. Both series has comedy, drama, and also some emotions as various episodes progresses. 

I just realized that Angel Beats! and Little Busters! are way more similar to each other than for example to Clannad. Of course it would be a huge spoiler to tell what makes them so similar 

Both animes are about a group of friends enjoying the time they spend together, they show an alike story line. They are both Key works and they have the same beautiful art.

I don't see how this relates to Clannad in any way. IMO, Little Busters and Angel Beats are very similar in its themes and they can easily be close to relate if it was understood in a better angle. Even if they have different story.

Both have insanely hilarious "battles" or "missions" with a side of full fledged emotion. Beautiful visuals and created by the same person, Jun Maeda.  

Beautiful emotional storyline with moments to laugh and ... to cry. 

Both of the plots of these animes are basically almost the same concept, apart from the fact that in Angel Beats they are all in the afterworld. Just like Otonashi sticks with a whole group, Naoe Riki does as well. Both of these animes go deep into the past of most of the characters, and that's what makes them so similar. 

If you like a good drama or anime with deep emotions, Little Busters & Angel Beats are for you. -The MC in both series helps the other cast members to overcome certain problems in their life. -The use of emotion is used excellently in both series. -Each of the animes has a leader that guides the group and helps it grow. -The MC of each animes has certain problems of his own he must overcome with the help of his/her friends. -Both can be dramatic and sad but also comedic at times with both being done extremely well.

Little Busters (and Refrain) is everything that Angel Beats should have been. While they are very similar, Little Busters succeeds in its storytelling unlike Angel Beats which succeeds merely in production value alone.  

They both were done by Key and Sentai Filmworks. They start the same way, but plots develop diffrently. While Angel Beats was rushed and had few holes in the plot, Little Busters is long and it has few mistakes. They are both fun and heartbreaking. If you love Angel Beats, you're going to love Little Busters. 

They are both made by key. Just like little busters, Angel beats shows a group of friends and like the little busters, they also have a group of their own called afterlife battlefront. Angel beats contains many funny and random moments similar to little busters  

It's KEYS! That's all you need to know! Both shows are brilliant and worth watching. "Little Busters ~Refrain~" is really good. But "Angel Beats!" is even better. My favorite anime if I can say so. You want some surnatural, drama and comedie???? GO FOR IT!!! Angel Beats! is a masterpiece, Little Busters is great, but you have to watch the whole first season to watch the second one and melt in pleasure at the end.

Same creator so of course there are a lot of similarities like the random funny moments and character tropes and both have a distinctive form of dramatic storytelling.

He also authored Rin's Route and Refrain in Little Busters. -Share such similar concepts and structure that I have to argue that Little Busters might have been a prototype for Angel Beats. For example, the cast of both series are a tightly-knitted group of friends, story of both series starts off light-hearted before descending into heavier and deeper themes; these kind of stuff. -Art done by the same guy, Na-Ga. 

The anime are both dramas made by Key Studios that have supernatural elements in them. Both main characters join a group of students in a school and end up doing several tasks with them. Both series also have mystery elements in them and revolve around discovering the "secret of the world". If you enjoy the type of emotional storytelling Key is known for, you'll probably like both the series.

The comedy is similar along with feels you'll experience. The second season is where this show really shines. 

Similar premise, very different execution.. Haibane takes away the comedy, action and some cuteness factor in order to bring more deepness to the premise setting, but both anime can leave you wondering the same questions about life purpose, and death. 

Similar in both is by accepting yourself(regret) or atone your sin of your past before death you will be free from that world. Born to other world where they had to do work and live on with other people a.k.a citizen of that world. 

In both, people are born into another world after they die because of regrets from their life before and stuck there until they can get rid of their regrets and become at peace with themselves. 

Angel Beats! and Haibane Renmei have similar concepts, as both are centered around characters who are in a purgatory-like setting. While Angel Beats! has more comedy and action, Haibane Renmei takes a much more serious tone, and also likes to leave things up to the viewer to interpret. Liking one of these shows does not necessarily mean you will like the other, but it is worth trying.  

Imagine having found yourself, to an unknown world, as if a lucid daydream not to be awakened. The rejection and self-denial is nigh, as the individuals, Yuzuru and Rekka, slowly identify with their pasts and gradually accept the truth, within the labyrinth of both worlds, the "afterworld", and the real world. Haibane Renmei, an astute yet nostalgic series that carries an abstract, yet distinct air of suspense to it; Angel Beats, a fulfilling adventure in an alternative (afterlife) world to slowly depreciate and disintegrate as reality steps in. Both attempt to carry a complete and touching plot, with a natural flow in Haibane Renmei; while Angel Beats takes upon an aggressive, and relentless spirit towards the truth.  

Both stories take place in an after life of some sort and has simmilar themes. Haibane Renmei is more serious then Angel Beats, though. 

Both anime explore the concept of "Afterlife", and features the characters being trapped in another world due to their regrets from their past lives. Both characters are required to find peace within themselves to be finally set free. Haibane Renmei is much more serious and complex, while Angel Beats! is a lot more comedic and action-packed.  

Similarities: + Different interpretations of the afterlife for a group of people who appear to be adolescents despite not being human + The wall in Haibane Renmei is similar to how the world just ends outside of the high school in Angel Beats! Differences: - Angel Beats has action and much more vivid animation (granted it is 8 years younger) than Haibane Renmei which has a much calmer yet eerie atmosphere throughout the show 

Haibane Renmei has been renowned as "Angel Beats for Hipsters" due to having more philosophical approach, classic western settings, symbolism, and less comedy/action/moe. Both are stories about little children that have to accept their conditions and moving on from their past life sins/regrets in afterlife settiings. 

Watch Haibane Renmei A F T E R Angel Beats. You'll see a TRUE sad anime, and not a random tear-jerker. 

both focus on a heaven themed story and a ya cast and the journeys they go on along the way. 

Although Angel Beats! and Haibane Renmei each possess a different atmosphere and overall feel, they both share a similar setting and the theme of people moving on to the next life. Both shows start off with the main character (Otonashi in Angel Beats! and Rakka in Haibane Remnei) awaking unsure of their past and where they are. Throughout the series, the protagonists learn about the true nature of the worlds they inhabit and that they have moved on to a new life. Also, both of these anime end on a sad note, but Haibane Renmei's ending is more welcome and hopeful than Angel Beats!'s ending. However, Angel Beats! and Haibane Renmei are not entirely similar when it comes to the moods they set. Haibane Renmei appears much more calm and realistic while Angel Beats! can feel intense and fast paced. These different moods can be easily seen in the comedic portions of each anime. The comedy in Haibane Renmei feels more down to earth or relatable, but the comedy in Angel Beats! is often extreme. This is not necessiarily a bad thing (the humor is actually quite funny), but it can and does feel out of place at some momements, especially during serious scenes.  

The characters live in some sort of afterlife, and we get to know each of them individually as they grow and, with the help of the main character, learn to acknowledge their regrets and move on. 

"Haibane Renmei" is the art-house original, "Angel Beats!" is the action remake. Same premise, similar message, very different genre and art specific execution. Both tell he story of an afterlife world where souls with an unfortunate death try to find answers to fundamental questions, and only get vague answers. Pacing is reversed. Haibane has a slower start (5-6 eps) and ends in a banger (for arthouse standards). AB! literally starts in a firefight and ends on a low key. 

Similar premise of purgatory, but explores the human nature and 'moving on' in a more mature fashion. 

Similiar themes, setting, and character progression. This one being artsier, slow-paced, and pragmatic than Angel Beats. Is still highly emotional and has a beautiful soundtrack, so I highly recommend it  

Very similar premise. While it is clear in Angel Beats that it is about a sort of "after life", in Haibane Renmei it is not said exactly but it is very obvious. These shows are similar in concept but different in execution. Angel Beats focuses more on action and comedy while Haibane Renmei is more deep. 

Similar setting and angelic theme, similar atmosphere and quest to understand a supernatural world around the characters. 

The world-building is similar, both explores the concept of afterlife, where it's much more subtle in Haibane Renmei. Both show emphasizes on salvation and has many thought-provoking themes. 

One thing is for certain; at the end of these two anime, you will need a new box of tissues. They both focus around the lives of two people, brought together by similar situations. They learn from each other and ultimately bring the stories to life, through their trials and tribulations. 

Both anime(s) are heart-warming, they exhibit the hardships of life, and friendship.Both are life-changing and they excel in their genre. Truly A MUST WATCH 

If you want to cry and feel satisfied about it then this one's for you. Don't get deceived by the genre and welcome to the feel ride. The story is satisfying and has much more depth associated. You'll love it.  

both have a beautiful and captivating design. We easily fall in love with the main characters. the story takes us to cheer for ther romance and makes us feel so happy ... so sad ... so excited. 

Both are tragic and heart-breaking shows that will hit you where it hurts. Both are funny while being tragic, and both have incredibly meaningful messages underlying their tragedy. 

Both are sad, with parts that will make all decent human beings cry... Angel beats isn't as focused on music, where only in the OP and with GDM, but still. Heartwarming and sad parts. Watch it, just watch both

Both animes are very beautiful and emotional. They have pretty animation & an amazing opening. They're both packed with feels and endings that will make you cry. If you want another heartbreaking anime, Angel Beats! is for you. 

Both anime share similar themes of loss, friendship, and the struggle to overcome past regrets. The animation is beautiful, the characters are well-developed, and the story is engaging. 

This series has a similar ending as Angel Beats. I should say Angel Beats was the saddest and one of the most touching anime when I watched it but Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso overtook it once I watched the last episode of it! It is really awesome and has very few or maybe no plotholes. If you are looking for an emotional anime with a good story and a strong musical connectivity, wait no more just watch Your Lie in April. And I can say for sure the suspense of "what is the lie" of the series is >= the suspense of the suspense of Angel and Yuzuru.

Similarities: -Both anime are in the genre of drama. -Both anime envisions scenes that involve music and concert. -Both anime offers some comedy. -Both anime represents a "Life and Death" plot. -Both anime very much likely could make the viewer cry. * Differences: -Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso focuses on one thing: Music while Angel Beats is one the point of climax within fighting using guns and weapons. -Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso does not have action as Angel Beats does. -Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso is in a genre of Shounen while Angel Beats is not. -Artwork of the two anime are very much different from each other. -Music themes of Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso is emotionally beautiful to hear and is involving greatest composers' works while in Angel Beats, it involves rock music. -The comedic scene durations of the anime are different. Angel Beats had the scenes in which comedy parts are lasting long rather than Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso shifting from a comedy scene to a somewhat flashback, backstory or a scene in which something sad/depressing would happen.  

Both of these anime are some of my favorite in the romance genre. They both have lighthearted premises at the first glance, but delve into some more mature topics as they progress. If you can get invested into the characters, I can just about guarantee you'll cry at the end. 

these anime are heavily deep of emotion when it comes to loss and making most of the time you have left. The music in these anime plays a part also trying to reach out its message with these peaceful-esk melodies as eventually when the time comes you have to say your good byes 😿

in case you preferred the comedy in Angel beats! you may likely enjoy Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso and both story are extremely good and the finishing are quite downhearted 

Group of misfit students who are in some special place or in special conditions. Both are comedies that try to be sentimental. 

Both have teenagers wielding pistols, sniper rifles, and automatic weapons. Both have a very large cast of characters, almost all of which are students. The comedy style is, in my opinion, very close to that of Angel Beats. It isn't really trying to make you sad like Angel Beats does, but I really get the same feel off of both of them. 

Both are about students and classrooms, in both the students try to get something done with plans (operations) and through action. 

Both are set in a school Both have a lot of comedy Both can get you right in the kokoro (Well, AssClass's second season) 

Both use a unique premise to liven up usually tropey school shenanigans, and both strike a good balance between comedic fun and emotionally stirring moments. 

Both deal with the theme of students attempting to assassinate someone and have a low chance of succeeding. 

Angel Beats! is a lot like Anatsu Kyoushitsu. They’re animes with teenagers determined to kill someone, at least in the beginning. They’re both set in a school setting and have the same kind of comedic style. At the end though, they are both heart-wrenching animes. 

Defeat the superior. Assassination Classroom and Angel Beats presents students who fight against a superior force. Assassination Classroom follows the eccentric students of Class 3-E in their mission to kill Koro-sensei before he destroys the world. Angel Beats having the same concept through the SSS tries to fight against god to get their revenge for their horrible lives before they died. Both anime are great action-comedy in a school directed by Seiji Kishi. 

Angel Beats was a good watch, but nothing special personally. However Assassination Classroom does everything Angel Beats does and makes it a million times better, making it deserving of a 10/10. An underlying interesting mystery, romantic undertones, a cast of compelling characters each with unique impactful backstories, an emotionally powerful ending having to do with graduation/self-growth. Both shows offer lessons of embracing the past, having empathy, appreciating one's life. Both shows are about a group of students in a school setting working together trying to uncover and fight against an underlying mystery. They work in groups doing assassinations (assassination classroom) or operations (angel beats). Throughout the story, backstories of side characters are explored, leading to character development. The endings of both are impactful, and the ending of assassination classroom in particular is legendary.

Both shows are set in a High School like environment and have to do with assassinating someone (at least at first). They seem really funny and lighthearted in the first few episodes but get deeper after you get to know the characters. Also, the endings of both shows will bring you to tears or at least move you.  

These have many similarities assassination trials by the students and making strategies are pretty much same.....!  

Both are set in a school-like environment and in both shows, the objective of the student is to kill their target. In Assasination Classroom, it is Koro-sensei, and in Angel Beats, it is Kanade.

Both anime depict life after death, communities of the undead and some kind of a revolt against the God. The main characters are also similar in a way: they help the undead people to actually "die" and cease their afterlife existance. There are also dramas, high schoolers fighting against the system, lots of fanservice and comedyshit in both anime. 

Perhaps it is the fantasy style of both series sets forth the premise of Angel Beats and Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi. In both worlds, the dead no longer dies and thus death is non existent. Additionally, there exists a protagonist who gets caught up in such a world and seemingly encounters another strange individual. There is the themes of supernatural and bits of action involved. Additionally, the atmosphere of both shows gives off similar vibes. 

The series give a similar feeling when you watch it and the whole buildup and character development is well done. 

Both have to do a lot with the after life and towards the end they both end up sharing an extremely similar premises. Both really try to tug at your heartstrings though Angel Beats does a much better job then Sunday Without God. They both are enjoyable pretty much from start to finish although Sunday Without God leaves much to be desired in its ending 

In terms of the mild tone, use of simple characters and a few fairly intense moments of action and others of seriously emotional drama, Angel Beats and Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi are fairly similar. There are elements of supernatural concepts that specifically revolve around a form of afterlife, ambiguity surrounding the existence of a god and, unfortunately, similar pacing issues. 

Both include the concept of living in a world where no one dies and the way they deal with emotional and drama scenes may share same qualities as the story builds-up. Main protagonist is also female. The feel of music and animation may remind the similarity of the message of its anime. 

The same exact plot of having people living in some kind of "virtual world", while the main crew keeps rushing toward knowing the truth about it. Full of philosofy and drama 

[May contain some spoilers] Both series: ~ take place at a world where is no life or death ~ main character wants to bring peace to the dead ~ have an ending you won't predict 

Both series' are in a mystery, drama with a plot twisting ending, that WILL leave a question behind after finishing the whole series. Angel Beats' main male protagonist traits are can be seen in Kami-Nichi's main female protagonist.(the particular one is "helping others no matter what") and both animes have a impressive art and OST. Both series' story revolves around God, which in both anime, depicts God as the one who abandoned them or given them a unfortunate life. 

Same theme of death and afterlife. Both have a similar theme of finding peace in order to move on. Both have eccentric characters and a changing story line that leads to the main climax 

Both deal with the theme of death Both have a quiet girl who is at first portrayed as the enemy, yet the protagonist in each series cannot help being drawn to her.  

The main purpose why I've chosen to suggest you watch Angel Beats is because these 2 anime really have a lot of common; characters' setup, atmosphere, etc. I mean, when you are watching it, you feel the same tranquility, though Another has some elements of mystery, horror... But, let's get back to the main matter; if you really liked Another( I think that I'm absolutely right), you must see Angel Beats because these two anime are masterpieces and, AB is even more wonderful than Another. 

These two anime series are similar at the start. A girl is somewhat lonesome, and a guy goes and talks to her even when the others tell him that he shouldn't do so, which eventually leads to a chain of events that the protagonists would need to risk their lives to stop. Very similar but completely different storyline each with their own deep meaning, which are very fitting to the story. 

A boy new to the area is welcomed by a group of people and are befriended by them. A girl that everyone pretends she doesn't exist, isn't seen by anyone. The boy befriends the girl and his friends wouldn't allow a dead person to be friends with the boy. 

If you enjoyed the mystery involved in Another then Angel Beats! has a very similar idea. Both have very similar character designs and contains a bit of the same kind of violence to it, but less gory.  

You have to give it to them : The sad backstories for characters are well done in these. Main difference is that it gets better in Angel Beats. In Another, it doesn't. 

A young protagonist finds himself in an unknown school setting, where he meets a bunch of somewhat unusual people. He also gets attracted to a girl he's supposed to avoid, which results in, to say the least, some unexpected occurences. Keep in mind these two are far different from each other in terms of tone. 

Paranormal school. Angel Beats and Another follow unknowledgeable MC who has their lives changed drastically due to the school they are associated with. Angel Beats follows a dead Otonashi who had been transported to a school in the afterlife, in this time, he joins Yuri and the SSS in their quest to find god and take revenge against him. Another is the same in that Kouichi is a new transfer student of Yomiyama North, during this period, Class 3-3 slowly beings to show its true self and the dangers that lurk within it. With both anime brought to you by the studio P.A. Works, with the edition of two class-rejected kuudere MCs Angel and Mei alike. AB brings forward a joyful comedic anime. With Another on the flip side to give a dark mystery horror.  

The peculiar environment is very similar, in addition to the two stories being more personal and dealing with the theme ¨death¨  

These two anime may have quite a different plot, but I felt the vibe they gave off to be the same. Aside from the vibe, I think both have a story that contains humor, (though Little Busters! has more humor in it than Little Busters: Refrain.) drama and a beautiful deeper meaning. Be sure to keep a box of tissues nearby, though, because you wouldn't be the first one to cry your eyes out.  

Both Key works Little Busters being a VN adaption and Angel Beats being an anime original. Jun Maeda wrote both Angel Beats and Little Busters. It's very hard to explain without spoiling both shows, but they both share many of the same themes and motifs.  

-Both surely make you cry, and have stories that are almost the same. -Both are about how hard it is to depart with friends after involve in some accidents and are about friendship and companions. -Both show us how important and wonderful one's life is. -Both are about saving their friends and protect them and content the task where you need to complete it in order to discover the secret of the world. -Both take place in school and show us how important friendships and best friends/childhood friends are. -Both have a very touching story and show us that we need to fight for it in order to become stronger. -Both show us how much pain they struggle and even went into despairs. Both show us how much they treasure their friendships. -Both show their cooperation and how they overcome hardship in order to save their precious friends.

Good Characterization :)) The story all revolved about another world, where it has been created by such strong will :)) Lots of drama and twist and story, same plot and made me cry like an idiot :) better to watch it :)

Though I would never recommend skipping the first season of Little Busters, this second season is what made the series worthwhile. In Refrain, the main plot finally begins to unfold and takes on many characteristics of Angel Beats. This is mainly a result of the growing supernatural phenomena. Both play with themes including death, school life, past grief, acceptance through companionship, and loss. Both shows are set in an abnormal and ominous world that the characters don't quite understand. Refrain had a previous season to develop characters, where Angel Beats had 13 episodes to do so. That being said, there are still tremendous parallels within the two groups. For example, each show has the meat-headed fighter, the quiet disciplined one, the leader, and the protagonist who has to step up and break the cycle. Understandably, Angel Beats is faster paced and more action-oriented, where the Little Busters series has a bit more character depth and build up. However, on a conceptual level, you probably can't get closer.  

They both feel similar , both sad  

Death plays a major role in both shows. In Angel Beats! everyone is trying to atone for their past lives in purgatory while in SAO, everyone is fighting for their lives in order to make it back to the real world. 

Same. Brilliant story. Action, drama, and romance... Great combination of genres. Amazing characters. World of SAO is also brilliant. 

After world / another world. Where a group of people try to escape their world that they've been locked away in.  

In both stories, the protagonists are stuck in an alternate world in which they have to live in, compared to Angel Beats, Sword Art Online takes place inside a video game. 

I don't even know where to start with attempting to recommend Sword Art Online. The series is great, while it's in an outside reality and guilds take place- SOA, much like Angel Beats will have you liking some characters more than most and you'll probably be caught off guard and start feeling a little emotional like with Angel Beats. 

They're similarly paced so if you enjoy anime that rushes each arc into short 13 episode arcs with lovable characters, this anime is for you. 

Sword art online is something I dropped half way through season 1 because of certain *events* but honestly Angel Beats is shorter and still is amazing, I've never laughed so hard at an anime before, while still having a sense of dread as the backstory of the characters is dark and is a main part of the plot as just like in Sword Art they are stuck in a game/like Limbo (Purgatory) and are fighting against the schools master. One of the best anime's that just keeps taking everything you thought you know and flipping it onto the floor before reforming it into a bigger picture. Amazing anime and worth the time.  

Both isekai. Both action fantasy. Both have nice females. Except Angel Beats has better writing and is more consistent with its enjoyment 

The dark theme, the romance between some characters, Grisaia no Kajitsu really gives a wave of Angel Beats! back to me, since I haven't cried on a 13-episode series since Angel Beats! Beautiful anime, also they reflect alot about death and what there is after it. 

During the first few episodes of Grisaia no Kajitsu, these two shows didn't seem to have any similarities. But as the story went on, I found they were quite alike. They depict how a past tragedy changes the characters' whole lives. And our protagonist helps them to accept their fate. Moreover, they both have a special school as setting, mild animation, and decent music composition. 

~ Both feature a mysterious male protoganist joining a school ~ The school is filled with people with troublesome/dark pasts, including the MC ~ The MC tries to help everyone overcome their pasts ~ Both feature random spurts of comedy 

2nd half of Grisaia no Kajitsu reminded me a lot of Angel Beats. Both series talk a lot about death and how people behave when they are on the brink of death. Both series feature characters who carry deep regrets after (they believe) causing the harm to their friend or family. Whereas Angel Beats is about purgatory, where every character in the story has already died, Grisaia no Kajitsu is about near-death experience, where characters come out of scenarios where they are the only surviving person. These issues are explored thoroughly from the 2nd half of Grisaia no Kajitsu all the way through to the two sequels.  

The main male protagonist helps each one of the main characters to get over there tragic past and ends up solving their problems. The tragedies are also very similar to that of Angel Beats. 

both are similar in terms of feels and stress but Grisaia no Kajitsu has 10 times more stress specially around the last 4 episodes of the first series 

Both anime has characters with different tragic past . And one MC tries to fix or heal their past  

Each of the characters has their own personal story, and the series uncovers them one by one. They are much darker backstories than those of Angels Beats though 

both have an ideal of universal happenings, in some sort of another, both contain action that is relevant and meaningful, but they also leave you with an eerie feeling towards the end, and somewhat through both of them 

What starts off light, gradually gets darker and sadder. Although Madoka is a bit more graphic. 

Both involve a group of characters fighting against some kind of force until they reach a bittersweet end to the story. Madoka is about girls who face death, and Angel Beats is about kids who want to stay dead together. 

Both have a pretty cheerful and bright start but as time goes by things do start to get darker and a focus on friendship and some spunky female leads too. 

Termination. Although Madoka Magica and Angel Beats don't share many similarities, it is similar to its characters Angel and Homura. Both Angel and Homura both try their hardest to stop a force from committing their actions. AB has Angel stop the SSS from causing havoc, PMMM has Homura stop Kyuubey from letting Madoka become a magical girl. AB is a joyous comedic anime with supernatural elements, with PMMM being a great dark, despairful, psychological magic anime. 

both make you really feel something 

They are both one season anime's and both have heart breaking stories. They are both fantasy-esque anime that will get you thinking about it for days afterwards. I thoroughly enjoyed them both. Highly recommended 

There's one thing and one thing only, "Everything is not what it seems." Though Angel Beats does already appear as not innocent (others may think different, but to me it didn't look innocent), It has a similar way to twist their stories. Angel Beats does not include much magic itself but the world itself is just magical. Nobody there is still alive, which leaves surprising ways for them to twist the storyline. Have fun watching and surfing anime/manga to anyone reading this. 

The main characters don't remember when or how they died and are curious to find out.

While these two might not have a lot in common at first glance (other than that they're both set in school and are about people, optionally living ones, lol), these two anime get surprisingly similar within the last 1-2 episodes. It's near impossible to explain this sufficiently without spoilers, so I'm just going to say it like this: if you've seen either of the two, the ending of the other will feel fairly familiar and be an equally big feels-trip. 

In an abnormal high school setting, the dead, with unfinished business, attempt to remember their life, how they died and try to move on. Both series have heavy supernatural elements, light romance and EXTREMELY similar endings; but Angel Beats has a larger ensemble of characters and more comedy, while Dusk Maiden is a little darker and focuses more on the two main characters. 

in both animes the MC are stuck in a world they didn't want to be in all because of their tragic death

Both shows revolves around slapstick humor and cheap drama to entertain the viewer. 

Definately not the same story line but they're both comedic in the beginning and once it gets towards the end, they both get pretty sad and/or dramtic. 

Both of these shows have tsundere leads, though it takes Yuri longer to soften. There's laughter along the way, adorable moments, and moments when it looks like everything will fall apart. Still no matter how hard Toradora! tries to convince you it's only funny or Angel Beats! that it's only serious, there's a gooey center in each of these shows that left me with a smile. :) 

Angel Beats is similar to Toradora! because they are both classified as romance animes that we all want to see more of. They are also similar because the two main characters in each anime start out as somewhat enemies but come to see that they want the same thing and end up falling for each other in the end.  

Both are romcoms, and get into deep romance at the end of the show. 

Both animes are romance comedy and are really good and properly develops each character. And the end of animes they are heartwarming and sad but in a good way. 

Both stories started with comedy but as time goes by both developed into quite dramatic and romantic theme. However Toradora has good character development than the other but still if you saw one of these its highly likely that you will like the other one. 

A life in high school as problem solver! The main character gets a second chance in/after their life. In his new life in high school, he makes friends fast. He's focused on solving his friends' problems. 

Reliving high school lives and solve problems those around the MCs. Great comedy and dramatic scenes. Friendship and romance.  

- Both are composed of slice of life genre, with high school setting - Both involves the preciousness of memories, how fragile and beautiful they are - Both are spiced up with a bit of romcom - Both has a bittersweet ending that leaves you crave for more - Both brings life lessons on how actions can leave impact on others - Both touched on memories and regret  

In both of these series the protagonist gets an opportunity to re-evaluate their lives in a high school setting and both series have a sad twist to the ending.  

Reforge. ReLife and Angel Beats both follow individuals who want to reforge what had been a loathing life ahead of them. Breaking all kinds of natural laws the stories scroll out how these characters will change in a time of high school. ReLife does this with Kaizaki taking the ReLife experiment in order to retrieve lost values and get a job right after. Angel Beats uses Otonashi and his experience with the SSS and their wants in getting revenge on God for their horrible lives. Both are good anime with comedy to add to them. Though AB has more action compared to a chiller s.o.l ReLife is.  

Both deal with the idea of teenagers who are dealing with forms of regret or emotional struggle, but through the help of the protagonist, they attempt to resolve the issue through means of reflection and emotional support.  

Both have highly emotional endings. Relife has an amazing cast and main characters. Emotional roller coaster of an anime but easily my favourite romance/ slice of life by far, give it a try! 

Both involve guns and supernatural things, but Hidan no Aria doesn't involve as much regular school drama. 

They're both awesome with guns and main female characters want something. 

Girls with guns and swords, fighting for what they believe in. Both of them have similar humor. Angel Beats! has some more emotional points. 

Lots Of Action And Alot Of Guns, Both Very Well Made Series. (Hidan No Aria's Ending Suggests A Second Season But Unfortunatly It Will Not Happen, Neverless It's Still Worth The Watch) 

High School Students Having Guns and Fight With Others 

Both series' are comedic,action filled with a twist of drama. High schoolers with guns, GUNS!,, what more could I say. guns and guns and more guns!! 

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanajo is a very sweet, enjoyable, funny series with an amazing cast of characters. The art for the show is also very beautiful. In these ways, it relates to Angel Beats! They are both very fun, lovable series that anyone who has some time should definitely check out. You'll get a good laugh out of Sakurasou no Pet na Kanajo and it will probably give you some emotional moments. However, if you're looking for a show with the same action as Angel Beats, this is not the show for you for it is more a good story and a comedy than an action-packed, exciting series.   

The anime showcases that all the characters has their own problems and sufferings which lead them all together and be a part of a family 

if you loved sakurasou, you will love angel beats. except the bloody scenes and the fightings. Tachibana Kanade is very similar to Shiina Mashiro, they both are "feelingless" and i found the same excitement in both animes. 

- Slice of life with high school settings - Characters come to terms with their true feelings, understand more about themselves and others - You might cry at the end for the beautiful of the friendship Both of the anime gives departure a meaning with memories, but it's also shown that departure is not the end, it's a new beginning. 

Our time with the eccentrics. Angel Beats and The Pet Girl of Sakurasou show what life is like with a bunch of eccentric misfits. Despite plots varying, Angel Beats and Sakurasou both have similar MCs with Otonashi and Sorata behaving a kindred manner, wherein they are both the 'sane' people of their respective groups. The same is with Angel and Mashiro, both being classed as the kuudere character. As time passes both MCs being to develop understandings of their respective peer as well as those around them. Both are well-made slow romance comedies all in a school setting. Though AB being supernatural in contrast to Sakurasou's slice of life world.   

In both, we enjoy the daily life of the characters without any problem, the comedy and dramatic scenes, but in the end, we have to say goodbye to all this routine and it is a little difficult. Beautiful animation, a lot of good characters, colourful, drama, comedy, daily life, and adventures of the characters in it.  

The main hero can't die and we have a bloody humour in both shows. 

Some plot, lots of blood, reviving characters, and comedy in all wrapped in to one show! (er two shows) 

Both poke fun at generic anime. Wacky and crazy gags, but don't let that deceive you, both have a good underlying plots with serious moments. 

While Angel Beats is no doubt more serious, both shows contain undead characters getting repeatedly butchered for jokes.  

The amounts of laughter that both series tries to engineer is something to take notice if you plan on watching both series. And yes, that means comedy and entertainment. Of course, both series contain supernatural elements done in a fun way as well as drama. There are also seriousness in both series mixed in with the characters. And speaking of characters, both MC are technically "dead" for different reasons. It is from this point in that he makes interactions with other characters. All in all, if you're looking for a series with hilarious comedy but also has touching drama at different degrees, then these two anime(s) are something to keep an eye on.  

Both anime involves a guy who helps other girls while at the same time dealing with his own. Both main male protagonists suffer from memory loss although 1 just forgot his time in the city years ago while the other has an almost complete memory loss. Both main male protagonists eventually regain their memories as they help others. 

Both series has an touching ending that warms your heart and fills with happiness. 

Both recommendations are from Key. I love this animes because the history it's very good, so amazing. I cried a LOT with this two series. And well, all the animes from the Key has got the sames messages: Dreams, love, friends, and a lot of aims. Aims: All the aims can be complete with a lot of working, force (and, sometimes with a little support from your friends!). I really love this two animes (I love more animes, but this two animes are very special), and I really recommend it. (All the animes from Key are good animes too! <3) 

Pretty much the same. The drama is there, same creator, both have awesome plot and are totally worth watching. If u enjoyed one of them you will deffinetly love the other. Although Angel Beats has more of an impact compared to the other, and also it has much deeper plot (in some parts anyway). 

Kanon and Angel Beats are two somewhat-slice-of-life anime made with the involvement of Key, the visual novel company well known for dramatic stories about a male protagonist helping various female characters with their problems. Along with that aspect, similarities between these two anime include memory loss, tragic backstories, action scenes (more prevalent in Angel Beats though), friendship, making others happy during sad times, et cetera. Angel Beats is shorter and more better paced in my opinion though.

Both stories are based around death.Both main characters spend the majority of the story dealing with trying to figure out how their in a such a confusing situation.Angel Beats is more of a Action and Shigofumi is more of a Mystery.

Both are afterlife themed stories with female leads in it and also a downbeat tone as well too. 

Death is a regret. Angel Beats! and Shigofumi share similarities of students who are in relation to someone dead becomes a regret to said person's life. Angel Beats! follows Yuri and the SSS in their revenge against god due to the horrible lives they have lived because of him. Shigofumi is about students who are connected to someone dead, end up with regrets because of that person's death, and their actions because of so. While Angel Beats! is a light-hearted action-comedy based in school. Shigofumi is a dark psychological thriller.  

God. Though this is a minor similarity used in various ways, the acknowledgement of a God type character used in both anime as a driving force to motives and plot. AB does this with the MCs having the sole mission to defeat God for the lives they had, Kamisama does this with Hina and her omnipotent knowledge of everything to happen. There are also characters who have a god complex in both. Both are good anime with comedic and sad scenes made by the same creator Jun Maeda. 

If you liked Angel Beats it's only natural for me to recommend you «The day I became a god». It is indeed by the same studio. Overall, I would say that the vibe is pretty similar,a lot of humor, a lot of just pretty scenes and you know that at the end you will cry like a baby. The plot is really original and also includes a god aspect we saw in Angel Beats. Just like the other serie, it's divided in episode that contains a short story that isn't necessarily related to the main story, but have their importances. In general both show are similar for my point of view, and the feeling they left in me is extraordinary. Kamisama ni Natta ni, for me, was better than Angel Beats.

It's the best Anime, you all much watch once. when I saw the ending it felt like Angel Beats ending.
