Anime 6591 Rurouni Kenshin Dvd-box Special Ending

If you loved the RK manga and hated the fact that the Jinchuu Arc never made it into the anime, and if you hate how the Himura family was treated in Seisouhen, this is for you. It's only three minutes long, but it portrays the Himura family the way Nobuhiro Watsuki pictured them: as a happy, functional family living in the new era, instead of the way Seisouhen portrayed them.

The year was 1996. Rurouni Kenshin (also known as Samurai X), one of the most popular mangas in the Shonen Jump, was finally adapted to anime. This series would be considered one of the classics of the decade, thanks to it undeniable quality and spectacular story (famous for including many historic events, and lots of historical figures, being the most relevant to the story Hajime Saito)... however... in 1998 after a criminal amount of filler, RK would be canceled in the most painful way, with the best yet to come, and finishing in a normal episode, without a proper end. ... In 2001, a new series of OVAS were made to give an ending to the story (Rurouni Kenshin: Seisouhen), but it was only slightly "based" on the manga events. And finally, in 2007... we receive this.

Rurouni Kenshin Special DVD-BOX is a short that lasts less than three minutes, and tries to give a decent closure to the plot. Obviously not the world's most ambitious project, but at least, is an end.

The animation of this special is slightly better than the anime, and the character design is the same that used in the TV series (instead of the ones in the newest OVAS). The music is that classic Samurai X tune, you will recognize it immediately. The characters that appear here are those you see in this page's picture n_n.

So, the question all my readers must have is... This worth it?. Yes. This end is more coherent than the one in Seisouhen, is more faithful (is not exactly the ending of the manga, but is the same idea... kinda) and... well, I think this is the ending that the characters deserved.

Without much else to say, all Kenshin fans should see this... if you already finished the anime or manga (duh).

El año era 1996. Rurouni Kenshin (también conocida como Samurai X), uno de los mangas más populares de la Shonen Jump, era finalmente adaptado al anime. Esta serie sería considerada uno de los clásicos de la década, por su innegable calidad y su espectacular historia (famosa por incluir varios hechos históricos, además de varios próceres, siendo el más famoso Hajime Saito)... sin embargo... en 1998, después de una cantidad de filler criminal, RK seria cancelada en la forma más penosa, quedando lo mejor todavía por animar, y terminando en un capitulo cualquiera. En el 2001 se hizo una serie de OVAs que daban un final a la historia (Rurouni Kenshin: Seisouhen), pero solo se basaba ligeramente en los hechos del manga. Y en el 2007... recibiríamos esto.
Rurouni Kenshin DVD-BOX Special es un corto de menos de tres minutos que intenta dar un cierre decente a la trama. Obviamente no es el proyecto más ambicioso del mundo, pero por más ínfimo que sea, es un final.

La animación de este corto es ligeramente superior a la del anime, usando el diseño de personajes del mismo en lugar que el de las OVAS más nuevas. La música es la clásica de Samurai X (vi la serie hace más de ocho años, y así y todo reconocí la pista enseguida). Los únicos personajes que aparecen son los que ven en la foto de esta pag n_n.

Entonces, la pregunta que se deben estar haciendo, mis queridos lectores... ¿Vale la pena? Si. Este final es más coherente que el de Seisouhen, es más fiel (sin ser el final del manga)... y creo que es el que se merecían los personajes. Sin mucho más que decir, todos los fans de Kenshin deberían ver esto, si ya terminaron con el anime o el manga.

This is basically a post-credit scene for the series. As such, this will, expectedly, be enjoyable depending on how much you liked the series. Shocking, I know.

It’s honestly nothing special though. Few lines of narration that try to sound profound (but do not success much). Kaoru leaning against a pillar. Some still images of characters are existing in the background, doing literally nothing, just reminding the audience that they did appear in the story. Kenshin appears. “Oh my god they are together wooooow!” moment (please read the part in quotation marks with appropriate deadpan delivery). The end. Well that was pretty uneventful.

Even if I hypothetically ... really liked the series and actually cared about the fate of the characters, this isn’t any grandiose finale. I dare to say it’s almost nothing. Mere implication of content, a fleeting illusion of scenario. If anyone thinks this is extremely important, then it’s only fault of the series of not actually including this short scene somewhere – that doesn’t mean the scene itself is of extraordinary quality.

But yeah I guess that if you enjoyed Rurouni Kenshin you should, probably, watch this.
