Manga 131763 Kajiya De Hajimeru Isekai Slow Life

Kajiya de Hajimeru Isekai Slow Life was a refreshing breath of air in the isekai genre (at least of what I've read).

Our protagonist, Eizo, is a middle-aged man and acts like it. There's no unreasonable attraction to the female characters, he acts mature in conversation, while still being humorous in his actions. His inner monologue is well done, leading to a character that I don't mind reading.

Our side characters, Samia and Rike (Riku?) are also solidly done. Both manage to avoid the trope of immediately falling in love with the MC, and thus are better than anything else on the market. Samia is energetic ... and cute, while not existing solely for sex appeal. She's a fairly one-dimensional character, but it doesn't hurt the story. Rike also is well done, with her dwarf species having an interesting and unique view on the world, that is at least somewhat original.

Storywise, I find that the standout plot of this isekai is that the main character is A: an adult, B: not an irredeemable pervert, and C: nothing major happens whatsoever. Everything is calm and slow-moving, with many pages being spent on stuff like forging a knife, expanding the house, or going on a picnic. It's a relaxing change of pace from many other isekai where the plot seems to have an endemic need to rush from plot-point to plot-point.

Not a whole lot has happened in the story so far, but it's an enjoyable SoL story.

Art is rather irrelevant. Doesn't affect me either way, but it's good enough.

Overall I enjoyed this story quite a bit. Again, a non-perverted, mature, and reasonable MC appeals to me, and the execution is excellent.

As we all have been knowing for a long time now, the isekai genre has a wide, WIDE collection of works on the anime market, may that include anime, manga, mannhua, manwa or even lights novels. It's not a surprise for anyone when we came across a generic, boring isekai work that is a re-washed version of "what works for the public". So, this wasn't a surprise either.

Although the story has been alright, actually, enjoyable even, almost good, since a slice of life isekai is always welcomed, the characters... well, that's another story. The MC is alright (thank God), he's a relatable man that's focused ... on his work and enjoying his life trough his hobbies. But here it comes: the harem (yes, that trope that will never, ever die in the isekai genre). Although not necessarily a harem, I'll call it that because every. damn. important. character. is a girl. (how surprising! right?). Don't get me wrong, I love cute girls, but after seeing only girls along the MC (for the most part) in most isekai works (in the comedy genre, especially), it's just... not good anymore.

As for the personalities of the girls in question... not really sure what to say. The tiger girl didn't have any personality at all, for sure. She was there just to be cute. The dwarf was better, although not exactly great. The swordswoman was just a ridiculous battle maniac that jumped on the MC just for the swords he made for her even though she almost killed him just 2 days before during the "practice" battle. The noble girl... again, just another cute girl that knows how to swing a sword.

Well, no use just wasting time on this review writing a lot of words tho; nothing really new in this manga, the art isn't especially great either, the enjoyment wasn't really there. Just your average isekai manga.

Well, if you were to characterize or think of any slow life manga, then this would surely be one of the results, as it’s slow-paced in developments, and it isn’t the most exciting thing to read. Along with the relatively shallow and predictable plot, the characters don’t add much to the story besides for being filler and adding a “relaxing” attribute into the plotline.

There’s not much to say about the plot, since it follows the same premise and guideline for every slow life manga out there: Mc gets reincarnated with a cheat ability, lives off said cheat ability, and becomes revered while forming a ... harem in the process. There’s some cliches here and there, but there’s nothing that makes the story pop in uniqueness of entertainment.

The characters are somewhat well-designed/introduced in their personalities, however, they don’t have “fun” personalities. To elaborate, some characters may be well-established, however, their personalities are boring and a blank slate — they don’t have an identity in the story that makes them “feel real.”

For a slow life manga to thrive, there must be a relatively engaging plot along with some of the best characters known to mankind; with that being said, this manga does not have either of those, making it nothing more than a “slow-life” time waster and passer.
