I don't know what the other people in this review section are talking about, this is a great little manga. It has excellent art, fun fight scenes, and likeable characters. I don't even mind the more tedious, edgy stuff. The author is good at writing and it shows!

Also, to that other guy that was complaining the premise is a reddit take on Christianity, no! Just no! If anything, it reminds me of Milton - the deceptive "virtue" of the various fiends, the temptation to blame God, the way it tries to mess with you. It's far smarter than you're giving it credit for.

Anyways, I ... recommend this manga. It's not up there with the all-time greats, but there is so much worse you could be reading.

The plot is about a kid thats been raised to beat satan so what does satan do to counter that? he sends him a waifu to weaken him...

The art is great, theres nothing negative i have to say about it

the christianity depiction might be a little weird but if you dont pay it much attention its a great manga, the characters all have a reason they are there and not just because, the character interactions and dynamics are increadible, the villains are great, if you can ignore some of the staff you will definetely enjoy this a lot

Exorcist wo Otosenai is definitely most notiable in the art department. Some of the action scenes are amazing and breathtaking.

The story itself isn't really deep, it's intentionally ridiculous and over-the-top. As long as you let it go and enjoy the magic it's a fun read. The author has good pacing and knows how to space calm scenes with intense ones and not overdo the flashbacks.

Characterization is a toss. Based on the chibi artstyle I don't expect too much. Each side character has their own motivations so they're distinguishable, but it's not like Paranoia Agent or other stories where characters are grounded in gritty realism.

As for ... the theme of falling in love, the story sticks to that motto. There is an angels vs. demons vs. angels are demons plotline to give the artist a fantastic license to draw a laser beams and monsters.

This manga is really great so far. I'm a huge fan of "Christianity purely as aesthetic" type of manga, so it's no surprise that this really hit a sweet spot. Yes, some of the twists are easy to see coming, but it's admirable that it has to say about handling love after being abused, and the art work is really gorgeous to boot.

However, there is a major caveat that this manga contains some really graphic depictions of rape, pedophilia, and child abuse. I find it okay to handle, personally, since they never depict these things as okay and they treat the victims of these ... things with grace and some realism, but it's definitely not for everyone.

!!Don't read if you don't want to see graphic portrayals of violence, abuse, and sexual themes!!

tl;dr 9/10. Characters get you invested in their growth. Interesting explorations of strength, humanity, love, and lust. Slowburn romance but satisfying. The art and writing work well together.

There were many times the authors could have gone wrong and romanticized/trivialized abuse- I am so, so glad they never have. It has given me faith in this series. Difficult topics of sexual/physical/emotional child abuse, trauma, are handled with respect and empathy towards survivors, while inspiring a sense of hope with their resilience. Villains are clearly portrayed as wrong, yet they still ... feel like three-dimensional characters fleshed out with their own motivations. Even so, they aren't given redemption for their deeds, again for which I am glad.

The characters are the best part in my opinion. All the major characters feel like real people, despite outlandish backgrounds. And each character design has their own distinctive silhouette and style that supports their personality and role in the story. The art is amazing in general, you can tell the artist really knows their shit. Action scenes demonstrate the sheer grand scale of battles, while everyday life scenes are intimate and heartwarming - the art communicates well, especially emotions and mood.

The concepts from Christianity were well researched and incorporated. For those who do know the Bible well (cannot relate), all the references would probably give another layer of understanding to the characters+story, but for those who don't, it still makes for an interesting way to world-build. The Church isn't all ‘good’ nor are the demons all ‘bad,' which is literally shown in the first couple chapters. The use of Christianity raises questions like, when to go against authority? is god's word final? and the dissonance that comes with. or what *is* 'good'?

Anyways. Very heartful series. It has stayed true to its original theme of discovering what love is. I dearly hope that our priest can find happiness in his lifetime.

"Make the Exorcist Fall in Love" is a beautiful manga that showcases the deconstruction of several types of abuse while developing the romance between the two main characters. It is an excellent read for those who want manga that handles severe topics in a well-manner, showing how new works attempt to show under-represented situations with male protagonists.

Mr. Priest is a boy whom God chose as the strongest exorcist, and his character development is spearheaded mainly by traumatic events, primarily sexual assault from Asmodeus and religious abuse from the church from his past. Throughout the manga, Mr. Priest internally struggles with mental health, seeing himself and ... normal sexual urges as dirty and constantly sacrificing his health for the missions and tasks that the church gives him. However, Mr. Priest slowly opens his emotions when he is tasked to protect Imuri, a girl who is secretly a demon and is tasked to make him fall in love with her.

Imuri and Mr. Priest's relationship is seen as complicated; two people on completely different sides, yet can connect with each other more throughout the story. Despite Imuri being a demon, she starts to feel the genuine need to change Mr. Priest's current view on the world and encourage him to do his hobbies, like baking, more as the two interact. Seeing how Mr. Priest and his ideal of supporting victims of abuse like him changes Imuri's idea of what love is.

The way that the manga carefully layers and plans the series is clever once certain scenes occur. "Make the Exorcist Fall in Love" is the perfect manga for anyone who wants a story about religious trauma, abuse, healing from traumatic events, and learning about the concept of love.

This manga is like the graphic manifestation of a redditor's conception of Christianity.

Not only is it terribly generic, it's also incredibly cringe and one-way in its conflict (bad guys vs good guys). PLUS several of the biblical quotes they use throughout the story are taken out of context for the convenience of the narrative. The "criticisms" of religion don't make any sense because they literally look like they were made by a 12 year old in his edgy fedora stage. I suppose it has a good drawing, and the relationship between the protagonists is not so terribly written, but I don't recommend it
