Its hard to draw the similarities between these two novels without spoiling, In both you will have - Time travel - Psychological thema - Similar relationship between the main characters. Main difference is the fact that 『Rezero』 is set in a fantasy world whereas 『Zero no Maria』 is set in modern Japan. Both are great novels to read and Im pretty sure you will enjoy both if you enjoyed reading one of them. 

Light novels about a protagonist trapped in a time loop having to experience death of themselves and those around him again and again until they find a way how to fix it. 

Re zero in the set a Fantasy world Zero Maria in the set a school Japan These two LN have a story about the repetition of time experienced by MC. And some events in the story change the protagonist's psychology. But it must be done again and again even from zero to get a fix ending for each character 

Both protagonists have the ability to go back in time, and it's triggered when they die. Both abilities are supernatural and both immensely suffer throughout the series. 

Both are about a guy who goes through multiple time loops where the people around him are repeatedly murdered over again and the main character tries to find how/why they're dying and the culprit behind their deaths. Both contain lots of horror and mystery elements. Particularly, Arc 4 of Re:Zero has many similar aspects to Umineko and I believe the former was directly influenced by the latter. 

Both series take a different approach from the others in the same genre: starting with the possibly weakest abilities, the main charactetr has to use their utmost of intelligence to survive in those cruel worlds. While I'm kinda too full of those hidden talents or god-like abilities, those two really blow the refreshing air in the Isekai world. And with absolutely no idea of what to deal with, the stories in both novels absolutely turn the readers on right at the very beginning. Since the two has been published almost at the same time, it is easy to enjoy and compare both.
