Manga 81681 Plunderer

(don't worry there aren't any spoilers)
There aren't many reviews on this, so I decided to leave one, for people who are not sure whether to read it or not. So my review in 2 words would be "really good", I would high recommend to experience this story for yourselves.

But ik this wouldn't convince most of you so here's the proper review

Before you start this manga, you most likely have seen the anime floating around somewhere on the internet, and no matter how much I like the manga, I have to say the anime was awful.

story
At the start of the manga, it seems like ... another ecchi/overpowered anime with a overpowered protagonist. But trust me its not, the story picks up pace after the 37th chapter where the plot seems more visible and more clear. But before the 37th chapter the story may feel all over the place and boring. it's not one of those manga's that look promising from the start, and it takes time for things to fall in place. The start of the story doesn't feel natural and feels very forced

Art
The art is really good. The fights are drawn well.

Characters
All the characters in the manga seem to have a their own screen time where we get to see their side of the story and their devlopment aside from the main character's story. Even the villains are explained altho sometimes their convictions may seem like non-sense. And oh boy let me tell you there aren't just ship in this manga but entire fleets. The main character may seem like the generic main character who is overpowered and doesn't use his whole potential just cause... but slowly we get to understand him and his reasons.

Enjoyment
I personally really enjoyed this manga to the fullest. The art was good, the story altho at the start seemed all over the place got real good, after things started to fall in place. the characters are all unique and have their own reasons and convictions.

Critics
alltho I really like the manga it would be wrong of me to say that, everything that the author has done is right, here are some points where I felt the author could have done better:
1. Sometimes the story really seems all over of the place, to the point where the plot and the story have nothing to do with each other.
2. Some of the characters feel non-sensical, and their motives seem senseless
3. The start of the story was felt really forced, and some characters seemed forced to do some actions
4. The pace sometimes feels too fast

at the end of the day I would like you to read this yourselves and experience all that this story has to offer, and form your own opinions

I was always confused why this series was so disliked. The start might've not have been amazing, but still had a sense of adventure with its "counts". Then, after a while of reading chapter 72, I realized. This basically became Dragon Ball Z-level of stupidity with power levels.

I'll start with what I liked; the story, the characters, and "counts".
The story was enjoyable, along with the character interactions and how distinct they are. Yes, there are tropes that I disliked like the typical "girl that screams for help and gets sidelined".
But disregarding that point, the characters do put up some fights. Even if they get weaker ... and at times suffer the Goku effect (basically wait for the strongest to arrive), there are a few that do put up a good fight. There is one specifically that basically says "screw counts" and actually becomes a good fighter without.

Now, let's talk about "counts". In their world, it's basically what determines your worth and power. By doing a specific task for you, you'll get a number increase. The higher the number, the more powerful you'll be. Of course, there are other ways, but they don't really delve that deep into how the "counts" work, only surface-level. The count levels also get absurdly stupid, as if you the reader are supposed to just accept it, it's basically Dragonball-level.
The count system is basically thrown off as well, as its only purpose now is to show how strong you are and nothing more.

It was definitely a fun thing to watch. But along with the story, it just got dumbed down, especially how lazy it gets. Which I'll get into now, the twists.

Having a twist to a story is basically to subvert the expectations of the reader. This manga does certainly do it at times, especially in the middle of the story. But as time goes on, you get used to it, and you see how stupid it all was. You'll see the most basic twists, and so, so many ones, later on, that just happens with barebones explanations.

There's also a horrible twist later on, that basically solidifies my points. Overall, even with all my criticisms, I still enjoyed it. It's still different than some mangas but has nothing it excels at.
If you want a fun read, this is it. It's not boring by any means, but don't expect any logical sense in here. Also, there's a lot of ecchi and fan service, so you might enjoy that.

This manga felt like it had so many cool concepts and then decided to run with poorly blended themes and ideas as the plot went on. Characters were definitely cliche and basic. The art work I thought was pretty good. The actual story line I felt had you set up certain expectations and then the author was like “how can I make this sillier and much more under whelming.

Overall I dropped this series relatively early on and as I’ve seen it was a good call as it hadn’t developed into anything worth pursuing from what I have mostly seen or heard. Sadly it was a ... major flop on what could’ve been something interesting. If you can tolerate volume two enjoyably I encourage you to push a bit further and write a better review lol.
