Manga 94366 Konya Wa Tsuki Ga Kirei Desu Ga Toriaezu Shine

Story 6/10 - Hmm... it's an interesting take on what has been used many times.
Art 8/10 - Nice and a fine art style, definitely a redeeming feature. However, certain faces often look like clones of each other, so negative for that.
Character 6/10 - Again, kinda interesting, but cliche all the way.
Enjoyment - Friend lent me first volume, next day bought all 5 volumes on a whim.
Overall 7/10 - Not a bad read, but it won't be stringing you along in anything special.

First of all, I'd have to say that the story is very and I mean very reminiscent of ''Alive'', another manga which has a ... very similar plot device. Ironically both titles never managed to gain mainstream media attention even though they tried very hard. So if you have read ''Alive'', you will feel very much at home here.

Basic lay-it-down-to-me plot of both titles (possible spoilers)... The nation one day becomes infected with a strange disease, where everyone starts dying or killing each other on mass. Main character somehow overcomes the disease to some degree, lose the girl and goes on a journey to become stronger fighting off strange organizations.
Having said that, it's also very similar to Kiseijyuu and Tokyo Ghoul; probably another half a dozen other titles with similar plot lines...

Simply said, it's nothing new. Fortunately, the story is rather well paced. There's not too much going back and forth, making needlessly confusing turns, it's rather straight to the cut and simple. The story advances at a nice steady pace, which can also be a bad thing. As most manga titles tend to have their climax at the end of the chapters, this title keeps the climax in the center most of the time. Which may be a turn down for some people. Personally it was kinda refreshing.

Art. Hmmmhm. The art is very nice. Easy to read. Not much to complain. Except for one flaw. Male characters tend to be a bit more varied in terms of facial design, however female characters suffer from the ''same face'' syndrome, where it looks like the same person with a different wig. It's not really bothering too much, I just personally take more attention to the art, so occasionally I see 2 different characters and notice they look identical. But shouldn't be much of an issue for most people.

Character... Fair I guess. Nothing special. Pretty much like every other main hero. Lame and bland high school student with a obsessive trait. It's sorta like, you know who everyone is before they are properly introduced. Not a bad thing really, but as you know what to expect, the character development (where there is a pretty good one) becomes poof. It loses it's meaning.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this *overlylongtitleIrefusetowrite*. The art can be eye candy sometimes and the story has it's interesting parts despite part of it being fairly obvious. Will I continue reading? Yes, but it's probably one of those titles I completely forget about along the way, only to start reading it again in a year or two. Just like how ''Alive'' managed to barely stay alive.
I think this is an (not underrated), but rather under appreciated. If you have some time to spare, take a look. Might be in for a good ride.

Knoya tsuki wa kirei is an action/psychological/thriller manga , and it's one of the first mangas i started reading , but i stopped because of slow releases . The story is about a new disease that turns emotions of love and affection into blood lust and desire to kill , which is a new idea but sadly it wasn't well executed . They introduced a lot of super powers down the line which turned the series into a battle shonen and the power scaling was all over the place , another thing is that in the middle , the plot got messy ... with the introduction of some crazy cult antagonists that i didn't even bother to remember their name let alone . I liked the metaphors a lot and the character of yuna which imo saved this manga from being an absolute train wreck . To conclude i did enjoy this manga at the beginning but the later arcs were not that good , but i will definitely read part 2 when it gets completed , overall score 6/10

tl;dr: A manga with a decent horror focused start that becomes a lot worse when it becomes action oriented.

This manga is centered around a disease known as Intellect Destruction, or ID for short. For those that are infected with ID, feelings of love towards someone invoke feelings of bloodlust towards that same person, and thus they feel a desire to kill those they are in love with. Very few people know about this disease’s existence, and thus when a high school boy named Kamishiro suddenly and unexpectedly wants to kill ... his childhood friend Hanazono he has absolutely no clue what’s going on and thinks that he’s going insane.

The first three volumes of this manga are centered around him struggling with his affliction, while also dealing with others around him that have similarly been infected, the majority of whom don’t try to resist and suppress their urges like Kamishiro does, but rather embrace them and try to enact them in secret. This portion of the manga has a pretty decent psychological horror. It isn’t that particularly well written and uses cheap elements like selective amnesia to push through certain plot points. However, everything being so mysterious and with Kamishiro having to struggle not just with himself and his love for Hanazono but also with how potentially anyone could be an enemy results in a pretty strong sense of tension and suspense. There’s a good amount of blood and gore, but it’s mostly constrained to delusions and fantasies and generally works well in establishing tone and atmosphere. The romance aspect is also handled decently.

The manga changes a lot after the end of the third volume. Due to various circumstances, Kamishiro joins Rudiment, an organization primarily composed of those that have ID. Rudiment is dedicated to dealing with those that are infected but are unable to control it. Their goal is to neutralize them as humanely as possible and isolate them until they can develop a cure. However, they’re competing with an organization known as CID, who have the goal of dealing with the infected through any means necessary regardless of the brutality necessary, which results in conflicts between the two.

At its core this is a decent premise due to the moral ambiguity involved, albeit one that’s not all that original. However, the premise doesn’t really matter at all because everyone on CID’s side is insane. Just in general, things move in such a way that it feels like nothing matters. The ending especially is absurd in that if that was an option, what the hell was the point of everything? The twists are all sorts of nonsensical and the plot overall is just a string of nonsense. There are plot holes all over the place. Character motivations make no sense and most everyone behaves incredibly inconsistently. The flashbacks and such that are supposed to flesh out characters do not work at all and everyone is pretty flat. Though I will admit, the explanation of where ID originally came from is kind of hilarious.

Furthermore, the psychological horror vibe is also pretty much completely gone. This is in part because ID is no longer some mysterious thing, but rather something that is explained and can be controlled. And furthermore, the focus is much more on action with super human abilities, so with the new tone the blood, gore, and violence just aren’t scary anymore. The action kind of sucks though. Each person infected with ID has a special ability. There’s a decent variety to these abilities, but for the most part the writing doesn’t really use the specifics of each ability well and everything comes down purely to who has a higher power level. These power levels are based on bloodlust. However, the bloodlust is based on love. So really, the action comes down to the power of love with extra steps to make it edgier. So, it gets repetitive and pretty dull. The romance also has some brief highlights towards the end, but overall it’s also pretty bad and not focused on enough, which seeing as how everything revolves around love is bizarre.

The art was interesting for the first few volumes because it felt like it was using the blood and gore carefully and to good effect. After that though it’s just everywhere all the time so you just become numb to it and it and it has no impact, and thus as that remains the core focus of the art throughout, the art in general feels pretty weak.
