Manga 99256 Miira No Kaikata

I first heard of this series when it was announced it would be getting an anime in 2018. I was a little perplexed on how they could make an entire anime out of a boy who befriends a mummy. Eventually my curiosity got the best of me and I checked out the manga. I was all 32 chapters in one sitting, which is all that's translated so far sadly.

Story:

The story is basic. A boy gets gifted a mummy from his father, who's constantly travelling and sending his son weird souvenirs. The story is all about our main character and his mummy, and all their other ... friends (human and otherwise).

It's pretty light hearted for most of the beginning, making it a nice quick but sweet read. The story just starts to take a darker turn in chapter 32, which got me really curious and wanting to read more, so hopefully more chapters get translated soon.

Art:

The art is probably my least favorite thing. It's not terrible, but it's definitely not a bragging point.

Character:

I absolutely love the characters! From the humans to all the weird little creatures we meet. Our main character, Sora, is a genuinely good hearted guy, but he isn't as much of a pushover as originally implied. His childhood friend, Tazuki, has some issues, but cares for Sora like no other and at the end of the day is just as good a guy as him.

We start to see bits of other characters right before the translations stop - like a sweet girl named Motegi, who's strong and brave despite her tiny, cutesy appearance, and Sora's aunt, Kaede, who's insanely talented and gorgeous.

Enjoyment/Overall:

I would totally recommend this manga to anyone looking for a quick read that'll get you attached to the characters pretty fast. It's a fun ride, and I'm super excited for the anime.
