Net-juu no Susume
Adults Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) is the primary link between these two series. They both deal with identity issues, self-deprecation, and reliance on others for happiness but have a very different take on how to approach these sensitive topics. NHK ni Youkoso has much darker themes but at the core of both is a story about companionship and love between two damaged people, forging new memories and forgiving old regrets that have molded them into the isolated people they've become and transforming them into the people they will be.

These two are entirely different shows, both in content and direction, but they both fundamentally pivot around the idea of adults who become shut-ins due to the stresses of life. Watch if you like the topic, do not watch expecting the same sort of feels.

Both Satou and Moriko are NEETs are that only get out of their houses when necessary. They also have issues to socialize. Net-juu no Susume is practicallly a comedy while Welcome to the NHK is a more realistic and depressing approach on the subject. If you liked Net-juu no Susume you'll definitely like NHK even more.

How are MMO Junkie and Welcome to the NHK similar? Well, both protagonists are hikkomori NEETs, and both of them (unwillingly) get help from someone of the opposite sex to pull them out of their hikkomori ways. Both series feel like the writers understand the lifestyle of hikkomori and NEETs. Both series are saying this lifestyle is unhealthy without insulting it. Also, both shows are about gaming in a non-issekai way.
