Ok I'm not sure why Akatsuki no Yona has such a high score, because imho Seirei no Moribito contains similar themes and was just done so much better. In terms of overall plot, SnM is more exciting, less predictable, and more believable. In terms of animation, I have to say even though 7-8 years older, SnM has much more captivating and beautiful sequences that have my eyes glued to the screen. On the other hand, if we talk about character design, AnY triumphs if you're into bishounen and bishoujo.

Both fantasy series involve protagonists (Princess Yona in Akatsuki no Yona and Prince Chagum in Seirei no Moribito of royal blood fleeing their kingdoms and enemies who want to kill them for various reasons. They are protected by bodyguards (in both series, the primary bodyguards wield spears - Balsa in Seirei no Morbito and Hak in Akatsuki no Yona) and gain allies on their journey throughout the entire land. Over time, they learn about daily life and hardships among commoners and communities alike, as well as truths about themselves and the person they wish to become. There is political intrigue, action, supernatural elements, romance, and

Strong female protagonists on a journey protecting a royal heir who was forced to flee the castle after uprising, with a fantasy world borrowing heavily from Chinese lore. Also, Seirei is fantastic and deserves more love <3

I get kinda the same feeling with it. Someone takes over the throne, a prince/princess is saved, and travelling around the country with a bodyguard/bodyguards, trying to avoid the new ruler and their guards. Plus, spears. Mmm, spears.

Both Seirei no Moribito and Akatsuki no Yona have strong female protagonists, and both take place in feudal Japanese settings. Both animes have main characters who come from royal upbringings who have to face the wilderness, and grow through their interactions with various communities and characters they encounter in their travels. They also both center on conflicts involving royalty, and involve things like magic and spirits. Both Moribito and Akatsuki no Yona have beautiful artistic style and involve journeying through various outdoor settings. I highly recommend both animes, especially if you like strong female characters that defy female anime character stereotypes, adventures, and

Akatsuki no Yona tends to be more light hearted than Seirei no Moribito, though Akatsuki no Yona definitely has serious moments. Both series contain a strong female lead. The MC in Akatsuki no Yona starts out weak and grows stronger over time, while the MC in Seirei no Moribito starts out strong. Both are very good action adventure fantasies. Akatsuki no Yona also falls under the romance and shoujo genres, but don't let that turn you off if it isn't what you normally watch. It is done very well.

Main character uses a guandao, set in ancient times, similar goals of protecting the people they love. Akatsuki no Yona is more shoujo based with more comedy and more tender moments, again if you're looking for a tender/romantic anime with pretty guys and some action with a lot of comedy, watch this. Moribito is more serious and if you want an anime like akatsuki no yona with more seriousness and less romance, this would be it. Moribito is more like motherly love than princess with guardian love.

I think Akatsuki no Yona and Seirei no moribito are really similar. - They are both escaping from the royal people - Chagum and Yona both carries royal blood - They both have really worthy bodyguards - The protagonists both cut their hair - Both of the anime is based in Korea/China/Japan

First off, this isn't a romance-focused series, and there is not a romantic relationship between the two mcs. However, it does share the premise of a prince/princess being violently cast out of nobility and leaning the ways of common folk while travelling the kingdom with a bodygaurd. The bodyguard even has a spear. Lots of action and supernatural/mythological elements in a korean-inspired setting.
