Deku and Simon. They're both the underdog kids you just love to root for when the tides go against them. Wish them luck when things go uphill, cheer for them when they learn to overcome obstacles. The rush you get from watching these two grow up to be the great people they would be is pretty addicting.

Colourful with amazing animations, wacky humour, and about a kid trying to get to grips with a power he doesn't understand.

Coming of age story where boy meets cool/badass guy then gets inspired to be like him. Both protagonists are energetic and full of light but need to overcome lots of obastacles. Lots of action, too. The quirky artwork and large-scale dramatization in the style is also similar.

Vaguely similar nobody-to-hero story, with positivity flowing through its bone marrow, centered on a MC who is a small boy. Both have a sort of older mentor they regularly train with or fight beside.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Boku no Hero Academia, while belonging to different genres, both follow the same story, of a young boy with low self-esteem following in the footsteps of the hero they idolise. Both anime have a lot of heart, and are packed with plenty of quirky humour.

Both use their intellect to win fights and overcome obstacles. - Both protagonists have a role model which drives them to push themselves to their limits. They both idolize their role model, but with Simon it's a younger/older sibling relationship whereas with Izuku it's a fanboy/superhero relationship. - Cast of fun, goofy characters which aid the protagonist or cause him conflict on his journey. - Great writing which manages to draw out emotions from the

Initially timid and weak main characters are led by strong and charismatic mentors on a journey to become a leader amongst their peers.
