I've seen a similar recommendation to this, and I agree with whoever recommended this. But before I continue, I'd like to say that Bungou stray dogs and Noragami Aragoto are my #1 and #2 favourite anime, so I'm sure that you'd like Bungou Stray dogs too. Yes, the two main characters of these two series (Yato, Dazai) both have a dark and sad past, and both animes are action packed and their pacing are perfect. Bungou Stray Dogs introduces you immediately to the main characters, brings you directly into the plot at perfect pacing, and I'm sure you won't be bored at any point of time.
