Both are: Centered around a female and a male partnering together to save their place/kingdom/world. Have awesome battles. And of course friendship between comrades.

Both involve a cast of strange (but likable) characters going on an adventure with supernatural elements involved. Both also have a decent amount of action and comedy involved. I'd say Soul Eater is a little bit darker in tone though.
