You may wonder how those 2 animes are similar because they seem so different, they have many similarities too. Both are about anthropomorphic animals who act like humans. They go to school and to work, fall in love and have worries. Worries are darker in Beastars as the animal part is quite important in this anime (how herbivores act with carnivores etc.), because in Aggretsuko the theme of the animals is not very important, it's just their appearance. However, I feel if you like slice of life about some serious matters (like money, job problems, being fired in Aggretsuko or violence, sex abuse in Beastars),

Both stories are set in universe were humanoid creatures rule the land. The main story of Beastars centers around a teenage wolf who, while trying to figure out who murdered one of his classmates, is also in a journey of fitting into society, similar in how Retsuko tries to fit in within her office. Although Beastars is not a comedy, it shows the protagonist's adaptation to real world problems and how he can solve them without making it seem like it's a big deal, just like Retsuko tries to solve her own problems
For fans of anthro anime like myself, I highly recommend this as a lighter, less angst-driven story with similarly engaging, likeable characters. While you won't find quite the same exestential angst-driven storyline here, there's a quiet thoughtfulness with which the characters engage in the story. It's the softer coming-of-age story of a woman who thinks she should have "made it" by now, finding out that there's a lot more to life than she expected.
