I'm so surprised that no one has made a link between these two. -Both of MCs have fantastic chemistry -One is music themed and one is sports themed but both MCs have a dynamic of one teaching the other the craft -Both anime have AMAZING music (unskippable OP and EDs LITERALLY not kidding) -similar side character/group dynamics of slightly older characters (in their 20s) looking out for the younger characters and guiding and supporting them in crucial moments -colours and animation in both are spectacular -funny and feelsy just the right amount -both also touch on deeper themes of love and loss and gaining passion for life

both are focused on friendship and are shared on a certain hobby of expertise as well too and lots of nice to look at art and visuals as well too.

the main character teaches the other main character about something they are passionate about. in sk8 infinity, it's skating whereas in given, its music. sk8 infinity is more focused on the skating whereas given is more focused on the character relationships than the music while the music still plays a huge role. the character dynamic between the two main characters is very similar with one being more softspoken (like a lost puppy) and the other outgoing and reactive.

I’d say sk8 the infinity is similar to Given in a way. Firstly, the main characters (Mafuyu and Langa) find a passion for something after going through something sad. In this example, Mafuyu had singing, guitar and songwriting and Langa had skateboarding. Secondly, they meet someone who helps them get that passion. Mafuyu meets Eunoyama who fixed his guitar and helped him learn, while Langa meets Reki, who taught him how to skate. Lastly, it’s genuinely a pretty cool anime to watch. It’s also pretty funny, too. In conclusion, if you liked the anime Given, I reccommend you Sk8 the infinity!
bl with a focus on a bigger picture (music--> skating) characters that you will fall in love with (they just kinda remind me of each other)
