Both series are Isekais told in a more immersive way. The Main character is not any generic overpowered MC but a well-thought character with personalities and ambitions for a 2nd chance of life in a completely new world. The storytelling is written to slowly build the character development of our MC and to show us the world as well as to show us the life of the MCs and their adventures. The difference is that Mushoku tensei have a lot of NSFW stuff, especially the MC being a pervert, while The faraway paladin focuses more on overwordly stuff such as fictional religions and gods.

Both MC reincarnates into a fantasy world with swords and magic.

- Reincarnated in a fantasy world of swords and magic. - Main character used to be a shut-in NEET and loser in their previous life, so they decided to try hard in their resurrected new life. - Has quality exposition and interesting details on their very own lore.

- It's an isekai about a girl getting reincarnated and having a second chance. - The MC doesn't die because of a truck. - Both MC's are skilled in magic and learn fast. - Reincarned MC keeping his previous mind. - Both series revolve around the characters development. In my opinion this anime can be what mushoku tensei is but less perverted and more about how the world works just like in mushoku tensei.

2nd chance isekai with strong character focus. Mushoku Tensei's world is bigger at this stage, while Saihate no Paladin's worldbuilding is closer to a traditional Tolkienesque setting tho (author seems to be a big fan of Tolkien since there are obvious name references). Saihate no Paladin also has way less (close to none) fanservice.
