Akame ga Kill!
A boy is coming from a village to a city to become a "dog of the military". In Akame ga Kill he is doing it because he wants to save his village. In FMA: Brotherhood he is doing it because he wants to save himself and his brother. In both anime they soon realize what the military is really doing/will do to all the people in the city. There is a lot of great action and little comedy too.

Tatsumi reminds me a little of Edward, with his firm determination and unyielding loyalty (and sometimes, naivete). They are both trying to take down a corrupt government, and they also both experience what it is like being unable to protect what they love, and work hard to change it.

Akame ga Kill just started, but it's already possible to notice it's similarities to FMAB. Both show a world where a huge country appears to be corrupted from within. In both, we follow a young, talented lad who, during his quest, becomes disillusioned about the world surrounding him. In general, AgK appears to be a nicely balanced mix of action and drama with a dash of comedy from time to time, similarly to FMAB. If you liked FMAB, I'm pretty sure you should at least give Akame ga Kill a chance.

Both show the harsh realities of humankind in big cities with all powerful governments. Both also include light hearted, very lovable humor to ease the pain that might come with some developments.

Practically about main characters with tragic past who moves into the city and becomes dog of military with a similar tone of serious plot where people dying is normal.

Both have a cast of varied and interesting characters who stop you from blindly rooting for the MC or their friends. Neither is afraid to at least occasionally kill important or beloved characters—especially Akame ga Kill! And both revolve around a somewhat similar political conflict, one where the MC must face powerful shadowy forces.

Both anime have a wide eyed protagonist who wants to work for the military bc he aspires to do good. However, with the passage of time and the help of rebels within the country, he realizes that his great city is not what it seems - it is being eaten away by sheer corruption, and is headed by a figure head that is deliberately allowing it all to happen for their own personal agenda. Both characters undergo changes, mostly because of the revelations that they face + the deaths of those close to them. I found Akame ga Kill a watered down version of FMAB, because

I believe that akame ga kill has a bit of everything. It has some nice comedy, great action scenes and some tearjerking moments. The same can be said for FMAB which i why i think you will like this anime if you like akame ga kill.

Both anime appear emotional to watch near the end of the series (aka a masterpiece). They both have powerful magic users that are either seen as good or bad with some the antagonists sporting sadistic features. Nonetheless, similar emotions were felt bu people who were into the story plot.
