Both deal with tragic events involving romance; Two people that just can't be together, or so, the plot is about how they try to stay together even with their circumstances. Same atmosphere I guess you could say; both bittersweet. If you're sensitive enough, you'll cry with these anime.
both are tragical.... you will be touched by the story... but i think HanTsuki is more touching since the story has already shown the development in relationship between the main characters. but i highly recommend you to watch these two! If u wanna cry... or if u like bittersweet stories... just be sure to have tissues ready!
Both of these stories are sad. Romance~ Two people like each other, but they aren't destined to be together forever. Both of the main characters struggle to take action. There's a bit of regret and feeling of loneliness. Kind of have the same atmosphere.

In my opinion, the most similar thing about these two anime is that both of them are very realistic. With the small town set up and emphasis on surroundings, their presentation seems similar too. Both shows have a little melancholic endings, for which different type of people tend to have different interpretations.
