The main theme for both anime series is" survival." Their peaceful days are changed forever. The humans face an unstoppable force that causes the world to panic in fear. The Zombie/Titans appear in groups and attack on instinct. With only a select few of brave humans will humanity survivor or cease to exist.

•both are an anime where humans are abruptly shattered with tragedy and despair within a few minutes of there normal everyday lives. •both anime shows the existence of an unnatural 'being' appearing out of nowhere suddenly and destroying what humanity created within centuries only to crumble within a few hours or less. •both are very realistically precise as to what humans exactly 'do' in a do or die situation/desperate situation, it shows the mental state as something unnatural in everyday lives appears suddenly and causes upright despair, will they rebel,cower in fear,be courageous,stupidity etc. •both animes follow/show as the story progresses a group of young teenagers as they
Survival anime, bloody and gorey, group of teens (plus a few adults) fighting against a group of hostile creatures that prey on mankind. Both have very similar atmospheres and story telling aspects. They both have narration that creates suspense and thrill for the shows. HOTD has a lot more ecchi, while SnK actually kills major characters so those are just a few of the differences.
Both very similar, due to having to fight for survival. One being zombies and the other being titans.

'Shingeki no Kyojin' and 'Highschool of the Dead' are similar because it has a 'Dystopian' kind of anime. Wherein Shingeki no Kyojin, Titans (giant human-like creatures) are eating humans not for food source but just for pleasure, but there are soldiers who fight these Titans in order to save humanity! While in Highschool of the Dead, a Zombie Apocalypse has occurred! And there's a bunch of Highschool students are struggling to survive. Will they survive this insane sudden occurrence? Find out!
Both anime focus on how people cope with an overwhelming force. In HSOD the characters find themselves laughing at the reminder that their are still human and in Skingeki no Kyojin man kinds hopes and dreams of ever leaving the walls are riding on people that have to change, loss themselves as human beings, to make achieve that. In both the changes leave the characters as something even worse than the very thing they are trying to beat.
Both shows are about fighting an un-natural threat to humanity. They also both have a post-apocalyptic, dystopian vibe to them. Even the pacing and the character moments seem pretty similar. The major difference between the two is that in-between action scenes, Attack on Titan focuses on comedy, while Highschool of the Dead focuses on boobs & sexual situations.

Both of these anime have very serious and tense atmosphere which sets them apart from a lot of anime. Both anime depict the human race on the verge of destruction. These two anime are very different in terms of plot, but if you liked the suspense and intensity of Attack on Titan, you will enjoy Highschool of the Dead.

Both Highschool of the Dead and Attack on Titan have intense action scenes and horror elements that keep the audience on the edge of their seat. Both anime also have a dark and serious tone, with moments of graphic violence and gore. Additionally, both anime have a large fanbase

Do you like shingeki no kyojin? So you might like "Highscool of the dead" In the anime "Highscool of the dead" there is a zombie apocalypse, and in this terrible incident in the school, only a few students survived, who are fighting for their lives. I recommend you watch Highscool of the dead, you will love this anime for sure! If you haven't watched shingeki no kyojin, then look, it's the same there, only there people are hiding from the enemies of all mankind (titans) and soldiers are fighting with them. And yes, there is a lot of blood and horror in both anime titles,
