From a certain perspective, "Suzume" is a sort of like a spiritual successor to "Children Who Chase Lost Voices." A girl goes off in an adventure with an older, male protagonist with long, dark hair who's involved with an academic profession. The two films feature supernatural elements, and a journey that would eventually lead our main characters into the land of the dead. A main character is haunted by memories of a lost loved one who died before the events of the story.
