Although both characters get into their adventures in a different way, the way they go through they're hardships, struggles and adventure, is pretty much the same. Some similar characters and situations make these look-a-like, although the themes are completely different.
Both of these series are iconic pillars of not only Shonen Jump, but manga as a whole. DB's influence in the world of shonen manga cannot be understated and the inspiration Naruto takes from it is heavy and clear to see. We have an elite rival to our protagonist who walks a fine line between good & evil. We have two sections of the story the latter taking place as our heroes have grown and powered up and they take on increasingly stronger foes.
