Both series are by the same author, Kouhei Horikoshi. Barrage is the manga before the huge hit, My Hero Academia. Both series contained: - Monster like people with powers. - A young, feeble protagonist that grows strong and brave. - Protagonists who put others before themselves with saving people. - Protagonists destined to save the world after meeting a special someone who made them significant after being lesser than a nobody.

Sensei no Bulge, or Barrage, is the canceled shonen published by Kohei Horikoshi before MHA. Even though it was cut very short, it still has that same Kohei-charm you see in MHA, and on top of that it is set in a really interesting sci-fi steam punk fantasy world. There are definitely concepts, themes, and characters that draw close to the later MHA, for example the mentor Tiamat is definitely cut from the same fabric as Aizawa, but I think that gives it some extra value to fans of MHA, almost like an alternative reality sort of deal.
