Both of these seinen titles feature dark narratives involving adolescents and young adults. In Aku no Hana, it is prevalent from the start. In Oyasumi Punpun, the plot gradually takes a dark turn.

Both got similar dark atmosphere. Relationships of main characters are weird and kinda erotic. Both are well drawn and you just can't stop reading them, wanting to know what will happen next with each chapter. I recommend reading manga and i warn all of you who want to watch Aku No Hana anime version, just read the manga because you will ruin great story for yourself. The anime is so badly made, it's such a shame.
Both are psychological manga that follow the misadventures of the protagonists and have many dark themes (Oyasumi Punpun has more comedy, but it is very dark humor). They are "coming of age" stories and follow the protagonists during several different stages of their lives as they chase after different things including the girls they love (though Oyasumi Punpun has more time skips).
Both Oyasumi Punpun and Aku no Hana focus on a story of a normal kid dealing with both the joys and agonies of growing up. The two are depressing coming-of-age narratives that touch some sensitive and mature themes such as suicidal thoughts, sexual assault, abusive relationship, divorce, feelings of alienation and so much more in a realistic and surreal way at the same time. If you like one, I wholeheartedly recommend checking out the other.
A coming of age story involving troubled, socially awkward boys. Both are almost nihilistic in nature and vary greatly from your standard romance, slice-of-life manga. The depressing nature of each will not appeal to everyone, but will be an invigorating breath of fresh air for those looking for something different.
Both have a depressive character who is slowly finding his true personality. This suffers internally and takes refuge in a girl who gives you happiness.

Wonderful coming-of-ages narratives, exploring sexual awakening, what it means to be 'normal' and the dark underpinnings of a young mind. Mature themes conveyed via powerful art and very nuanced characters and writing. Shit happens, but life goes on. Masterpieces of their genre.

They both picture social and romantic lives of young people that are considered socially awkward, the story goes on through their lives as they grow up and go thru misfortunes. the series are both very cynical and dark. however Aku no hana is less dark than PunPun.
Oyasumi Punpun and Aku no Hana accurately portray what it's like to grow up, and the impact that peer relationships can have on a person in their future. These psychological dramas are blessed with stunning visuals, thought provoking philosophies, and extremely realistic characters that almost anyone can relate to in some way or another.

Truthfully, I don't think that there is any manga that can hold a candle to Oyasumi Punpun, but if you liked Oyasumi PunPun, chances are you would like Aku no Hana as well. They both follow kids who are experiencing the more difficult, darker side of youth; seclusion, sadness, and confusion. They contain sexual themes, most of which are presented in a gritty, shameful way instead of a sensual one. The romance is muted at times, reminding the reader about the complications relationships can have while still having a captivating love story (remember dark doesn't mean its not rlly freaking good).

Both manga are about growing up. The main character slowly falls into a path of darkness from which they can't leave. Oyasumi Punpun has more philosophy while Aku no Hana has more symbolism. Anyway, if you liked one you'll probably like the other.
Both are some pretty edgy and bleak seinen stories that focus on the darker side of growing up as a kid.

Both mangas have a depressive coming-of-age theme and follow the male protagonist as the relationships he creates (most importantly different romantic relationships) affect and change him psychologically. They both have dark (and sexual) themes and a similar atmosphere but Oyasumi Punpun is definitely darker. If you enjoyed one of them, you should give the other a try.
Altought the story it's not that similar they left the same taste on your mouth. Both of them reflect about phylosophical themes like the sense of life,what's the meaning of being good or bad,god,etc. Oyasumi Punpun it's the story of a person growing,being affected because of people and society,wich leads our chick to crazyness,when in Aku no Hana,we have a guy that became crazy because of a simple action seen by a classmate, and he trying to rehabilitate from that. Also if you're a fan of Asano Inio I would recommend you to read the works of Shuzo Oshimi. I hope that this review will be helpful for you! And
Both dark coming-of-age stories. The MCs of both these mangas are totally fucked up lol. Both of these stories have female leads that are also very clearly not normal. Both MC's meet a crazy chick first then meet a less crazy chick who makes them a little better.
Both protagonists deal with not beiing able to fit while growing up and doing fucked up stuff, as well as doing stuff because they're under a spell that a girl put on them, as well as both having to cope with not being able to see that girl again
Both mangas gave me off the same "this went really wrong" feeling and both have girls with a dubious sanity influencing the protagonists' way of life in a bad way.
These series are both written in a way similar to each other. They both have dark under themes that deal with characters decision. These two really feel the same overall and they both had me crying and scared in the end.
