Both Yuno and Rena are cute as hell. Yeah... As hell ;-). Both like to use deadly tools. And both have mental disorders.
Mirai Nikki overall has more plots involving a survival game, has the action genre and sobrenatural elements, no wonder since it's much more longer if we only count the saga/series of Higurashi in question, but both are of the horror genre, specifically psychological horror and splatter, so that's more like it, there's cute and dangerous girls in both, there's mystery elements, twists in the story and at least some character are kind of similar, that's pretty much it.
