Similar character development Evokes similar emotions

Very similar main characters, facing similar complex and personal problems, in a similar isolated setting, similar messages... I could go on. Enjoy!

Both animes display some similarities: - Male protagonist is a quiet calm composed person who excels at piano. In NC we have an adult while in Shigatsu we have a teenager. They have similar personalities and yet even though NC is targeted to an older audience it is Shigatsu which displays the protagonist with a much more dramatic past and more dramatic plot. - Female protagonist is rather unique and loves to play joyfully her piano/violin. Personally I find NC's heroine a refreshing heroine because she is very centered in comedy and it is very crazy while Shigatsu's heroine delivers more tragic moments. - Heroine ends up

Utilizing similar romance tropes, viewers can expect to find themselves emotionally drawn in by the ups and downs, but a touch of mystery added in.

Same feels and void. Both have really good character developments for main male MC. Similar kind of lesson too. As a character, i think female MC in Shigatsu is better than Nagisa. And I think that the story progression in Shigatsu is a tad better. I would say Shigatsu is kind of slow but if you enjoyed the pacing of Clannad, then it won't be considered slow. Beautiful soundtracks in Shigatsu also. Another difference is the seriousness in Clannad usually progresses. In Shigatsu it sometimes gets cut off by some gag humour. But when Shigatsu has to be serious, it does it really well.

"A famous violinist once said that by exchanging (musical) notes, you get to know one another; to understand one another. As if your souls were connected, and hearts overlapping. It's a conversation through instruments. A miracle that creates harmony. In that moment, music transcends words." Kids on the Slope has its two MALE leads connect via music. There's every suggestion that the thugish drummer would like to pound more than his drums as they compete and connect by playing jazz together. The glasses-wearing, scrawny lead finds liberation by escaping from the restrictions of classical piano playing and happiness by bonding with his 'friend'. The show does

Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso is like even more heartbreaking version of Plastic Memories. They're both cute but tragic love stories.

Both have an amazing, emotional, slice of life storyline backed by phenomenal scores, and the animation for them is among the best I've ever seen. Both are examples of a love it or hate it anime, but if you enjoyed one, I'm almost positive you will also enjoy the other.

Fates entwining, paths crossing perhaps only for a brief moment. Romance, sadness, packed together with a nice little bow of a well written plot, but prepare as well for a good cry.

~~~MILD SPOILERS!!~~~ Please do not read if you feel that this may affect your enjoyment of either anime. You have been warned! Well, in a sense, the main 2 protagonists of Kousei and Kaori are somewhat similar to Sorata and Shiina of Sakurasou. Albeit, Sorata goes through his "transformation" whilst trying to reach what he feels to be a sense of "accomplishments" that can match up to Shiina, while Kousei is already an accredited pianist. However, in Kousei's story, it is more about him being able to accept his position in life and being able to break out of the mental shell that was left
In both of these anime music plays a large role in the development of characters and romance. There is also plenty of drama and feels. Differences include White Album 2 being more on the serious side, while Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso tends to be a little less serious through its addition of comedy.
These anime revolves around music, in which develops the traits of each character in the story. In Shigatsu, they use piano and/or violin and play classical music. In Hibike, they joined a wind ensemble and also play classical music. The characters strive for their best and overcome the difficulties they meet in order to play with all their best. They also join competitions.
Superficially, we get a melodrama on both shows with a male protagonist suffering from their internal conflicts and a heroine that becomes a catalyst for the protagonist to grow. But why I believe these two are very similar is due to sharing a similar thematic irony. In Koe no Katachi, the protagonist learns to "hear the world" from a deaf girl. Likewise, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso has a similar underlying theme as well. Moreover, the animation and OST on both animes are beautifully executed as well.
Both try to bring meaning and heart to music. The two series mixes but humor and dark themes to bring forth something beautiful. In my opinion, Kono Oto Tomare! accomplishes this task a little better then Your Lie in April. However, I feel that both deserve a watch especially if you enjoy musical themed anime.
Young pianists who play a lot of piano. Whether it be during their piano lessons, during a contest, or for fun. They have friendly rivals and friends with similar interests. The young pianists have internal battles of their own they need to over come, but they have help along the way.
A protagonist who wants to quit what he loves doing because of bad mental state, but gets motivated by his lov..I mean, friend, who supports him and helps him climb back to the top. Both have artists who create stories with their performance, and there is a lot of inner monologues. Yuri on Ice has less drama than Shigatsu.
Deeply moving, beautiful music. Both highlight the inner struggle and the influence of other people in understanding this struggle.
The protagonist has problems because of his relationship with his father / mother, but when you meet a girl with a disease, but a good heart, he is putting more color to your life.
Golden Time released not long before KimiUso, yet both have a number of similar plot elements. For example, the protagonist in both likes a girl who appears to like his best friend. The protagonist in both also suffers from internal emotional turmoil, due to their past haunting them. For Arima, it's his hearing problems, and the feint memories of his mother. For Banri, it's his amnesia, and the feint memories of his past life before he suffered amnesia. The female lead in both shows, Kaori and Kouko, also has an upbeat personality, which contrasts with the more laid-back personality of the male protagonist in both
Both Orange and Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso are shoujo mangas that deal with the the juxtaposed concepts of mortality and carpe diem. The mangas contain a similar background in which the mother of the male protagonist passes away, leaving a mental scar for the character. With the help of friends and especially the female protagonist, he overcomes this loss. The secondary focus of the stories would be enjoying the time you have with your friends while you are alive. The dramas also focus on performing an specific activity to help get over the loss. In the case of Orange, the male protagonist finds
- Kousei <-> Arata - Kaori <-> Chihaya Enough said? The difference though is that Chihayafuru is centered on the energetic girl who wants to bring people into her world while Shigatsu wa kimi no uso is centered on the depressed boy who stopped performing. I really like how both bring up how passionate their characters are. Also the music in both those shows is perfect,
After watching both in an immediate span of time. I believe I have been given a transcendent revelation. I HIGHLY recommend you to watch Shigatsu FIRST, then Given. To me, I believe Given to be the soulful successor of Shigatsu. Shigatsu gives depth and weight to Given. The same 'setsunai' and 'left behind'-ness. While Given gives the hope and the closure to Shigatsu. Time will flow again. Go on this journey. Amen. Elohim essaim. Elohim essaim.
Both have a musical sport as its basis and delve into relationships (though Ballroom has an overall lighter and grounded tone.) They have a light dreamy palette and amazing art styles. Both also have a reputation of being put-off by general viewership due to its perceived subject matter (one about being a pianist and one about being a dancer.)
Prior to KimiUso, Hantsuki was an earlier anime that also dealt with the very similar theme of a boy falling in love with a girl who suffers from serious illness. Both shows handle the theme just as well. KimiUso is a longer show, as it also deals with a classical music themed story, the protagonist's backstory, a larger cast of characters, and a wider variety of settings, whereas Hantsuki is shorter, more straight-to-the-point, focused on the two leads' relationship and her illness (which it goes into more detail about), and is mostly set in a hospital. Both shows have a similarly sad mood (with occasional
Both tell story of violinists, while Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso is more realistic representation of the world of musicians, Kinito no Corda takes you on tale of a magic violin. Both very inspirational, telling story of struggles as a musician. Both equally charming. If you liked Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso you will definitely like Kiniro no CordaL: Pirmo Passo.
The main romance plot is very similar between them. They may not share the same main plot (Music and Slice of Life/School) but secondary characteristics may apply. The alternance between comedy and drama is really similar, while the romance feels really heartwarming. There are a lot of similar events at the end of both, talking about them would be spoiling, but who liked one will probably like the other.
Upon watching the first episode of Tsurune, I would say that both the MCs from Shigatsu and Tsurune have a past that has barred them from excelling at their respective "sport". Especially, both MCs are excellent at their arts, but are unable to recover from a tragedy until they have received the support of friendship. -MC with a past -Friendship -Slice of life
Both anime capture the struggles between relationships and how humans interconnect from the past to the present, and the feelings that remain.
The main character was a great prodigy in classical piano as a child, but dropped it due to some traumas with his parents, and the story is about his coming back to the classical music with the help of a heroine who plays the violin.
Characters trying to reach people's heart with music, unfinished childhood stories, a melancholy caused by an apparently unrequited love that has a lot more to it and a great soundtrack with music that will hearten your soul.
Both explore musical depth & the power of duettes; real-world music are both taken into account. They both highlight the importance of finding your own music style.
Both have a similar fashion of a lead male character with a rather dreary, boring life...spiced up by meeting a girl with an upbeat personality that helps change their world views. It also appears the romantic sub-plots are going to work in a similar fashion as well.
Similar MCs have painful past and try to overcome themselves Both stories portray complicated romantic relationships between characters Both stories focused on music performance
A tale of new friends, new memories, blossoming love and forgetting the past. Follow our main cast of characters as they grow into new people through the love of art - and - music. Both anime use music and insert songs to evict emotion as well as excellent monologues and dialogues between characters to create complex character relationships and bonds. Both shows have a love triangle(s), broken hearts, new discoveries and reaching for the future.
-main characters in both animes have similarities in some aspects -both have same genres in Romance and Drama and have a complete story and ending .Their story is finished and you don't need to read the rest of the story from their manga. -although Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso is great from the beginning ,you need give a time to 3D Kanojo to see improvement in the story and you must watch it's 2 seasons completely. the anime (3D kanojo) gets better and better as the series goes along and that's why the series jump score from 6.8 (in season 1) to 7.8 (in season
- Both are something related to music - Both have competition arc and has a similar feel to it - Mashiro no Oto is less emotional than Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso - Mashiro no Oto involves the shamisen while Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso involves the piano and the violin - Mashiro no Oto involves traditional Japanese music while Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso involves classical music
