Cyberpunk style. Dark ambientation. 

Both are stylish cyberpunk stories with action packed stories staring colorful characters and also edgy aesthetics and storytelling as well too.  

Both shows have a great production, over-the-top violence, fun characters, and both take place in a cyberpunk setting. 

Over-the-top action and madness in cyberpunk dystopian society. Akudama is more dark, harsh and based on a "death game with freaks" trope while Edgerunners is your standard colorful action by Studio Trigger that is mostly oriented to the Western audience, now with edgy violence and cybernetic nipples. 

Both have the same setting; (World, Theme) Story is very similar as well; (At least until introduction) *Cyberpunk has a faster pacing, while Akudama Drive delves more into it's fictional aspects 

Both are extremely well fleshed cyberpunk series, with great world building, tightly curated atmosphere and a diverse cast of well written characters 

"Akudama Drive" and "cyberpunk" anime are both genres within the broader category of science fiction that often explore dystopian futures, advanced technology, and the impact of societal issues on individuals. - Dystopian Setting: Both "Akudama Drive" and many cyberpunk anime are set in dystopian futures where societal structures have deteriorated, leading to a gritty and often dangerous environment. - Advanced Technology: Both genres often feature advanced and futuristic technology, including cybernetic enhancements, artificial intelligence, and virtual realities. - Criminal Element: "Akudama Drive" specifically focuses on a group of criminals, or "akudama," who are skilled in various ways. A vibrant take on a cyberpunk setting. An action show in the same vain as Suicide Squad. Style for days and a pretty good english dub as well. Gore was censored when I first watched it but I believe an uncensored version should be out by now. 

so you know how the lighting was in the one you watched? all the beautiful colors being used in unique ways to really draw you in by the eyes and keep your brain hooked? whichever one you haven't watched will look equally just as beautiful with just as much unique and splendid use of light and colors! they are also both dystopian/cyberpunk-esc shows with lots of huge, cool tech you wouldn't see anywhere else and stakes so high you'd need a rocket to get them down! Akudama Drive wasn't as lucky in gore leniency but what is lost through extra-dark shadows, is made up for with the gorgeous visuals and friendships/personal stories you can't help but be invested in! they both have an overlaying heaviness of how hard the world they're set in is on the characters within them. if you've enjoyed one, i would safely bet you'd enjoy the other as well  

Not only are both in a cyberpunk setting but also both show a lot of violence and are not affraid to make bold decisions.

Similar setting and aesthetics. Sort of similar plot too? Been a while since i watched. 

Both anime have very similar plots. Neither anime is afraid to push the limits on gore either. The world building with a corrupt government, and the classism of society, really shows how much both shows are similar. If you're a fan of Cyberpunk, than you will love Akudama Drive too.

Edgerunners is a little more fast-paced than Akudama drive but both shows are in a cyberpunk setting and they both have similar plot lines.

If you liked Akudama Drive and loved the cyberpunk, futuristic aesthetic then i definitely recommend watching Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Both have a stunning art, atmosphere and interesting story. 

IF YOU LIKED CYBERPUNK EDGERUNNERS THEN YOU WILL LOVE THIS 

-Both have a cyberpunk aesthetic. -Main cast is a group of criminals working together. -Both are quite gory. 

both the stories have the similar feel both the main character come from a non criminal background also the other cast is very similar ,both show are cyberpunk and have same genre so its enjoyble. 

A lot of parallels between the two from the plot to the individual characters Akame is more of your typical fantasy and Edgerunners is cyberpunk 

The universe is not the same but storywise... it really remind me of akame ga kill. An innocent main character gets involved with an infamous group by a beautiful girl... Both worth watching!! Amazing 

Both animes are a fun ride but extremely sad endings 

In my opinion Edge Runners is a modern version of Akame Ga Kill because the characters have similar development (if you know what I mean) and the plot is kinda similar as well. I kinda noticed that there are similarities in some weapons as well as if it was inspired by Akame Ga Kill (not sure since idk any Cyberpunk related stuff) and yeah, if you watched both series you'll probably know what I mean. 

After the 2nd episode I noticed that the show was on the same path as akame ga kill. I'm so glad it went way beyond that. 

When I watched Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, I was heavily reminded of Akame ga Kill!. Both anime involve the MC getting thrown into a dark and brutal world. However, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is darker and more violent than Akame ga Kill!, which while still being violent, has more humor. That, and Akame ga Kill! is longer at 24 episodes. If you liked one, check out the other! 

You're gonna love every Character, and the Story itself is very simmilar. Trust me on this :) It's worth your time. 

Basically if you didn't like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners solely because of the Cyberpunk 2077 setting, you'll probably like Akame ga Kill! The way the characters and plot progresses are very similar between the two shows. Cyberpunk is definitely more condensed in a shorter series, but both shows definitely settle things similarly...and really you don't notice the true similarity until the very last episode of Cyberpunk. Let's just say that the female MCs' from both shows end up in a similar position by the end. So do the male MCs' I guess. 

They both have the same feel and do not hold back on the gore. I would say the only difference is the era they were both set in. You will enjoy watching both.

Even though Akame ga Kill and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are presented very different settings, they are similar stories in some aspects, and remind me of each other a lot. Two cruel shows with interesting casts and high-stake action scenes that have you on the edge of your seat while watching. If you liked the distinct feeling these shows have by watching one of them, you may like the other aswell!

If you have read the plot synopsis of both, or at least watched one of these to completion, you basically have seen the other. The main difference is that Akame Ga Kill is a full 20+ episode show where Edgerunners is about half that around 12 episodes. You can watch either one and get the same feelings and sort of pyrrhic victory feeling. The endings are so similar, and that might not really be a detriment depending how you like these shows. 

Almost same story, MC joins a group who has been fighting against corrupt system/elites for a long time. While fighting alongside them, he develops character, and sets boundaries as he loses his friends in battles, etc. 

Tragedy, gore and death  

If you like this type of anime where some adult themes are touched upon in practically every episode then I think Akame ga Kill is for you. Death, blood, violence, sex, love or hate are the very things you are sure to encounter while watching this anime. It is worth noting, however, that the two productions differ slightly in climate. Akame ga Kill draws lightly on medieval realities, although there are indeed firearms present, most of the time white weapons dominate the screen. Which projects the atmosphere of the entire show. Both anime have, in my opinion, a similar sad ending, so if you're a fan of this you should like it. I can't help but wish you a pleasant screening.  

Both are 10 episode long netflix exclusives with free rein to be as dark, sexual and gory as they like without limitation. Both use these freedoms to explore and test their characters humanity next to the worst humanity has to offer. 

Chaotic universe, guy gets powers, loves a girl; great animation, good music 

Now, if you like action, blood, gore and some elements of sex, you are going to love devilman crybaby, edgerunners and devilman both have amazing music, great atmosphere and good direction. Both the shows being very emotional in the aspect of their endings. You can give devilman a shot!  

Both are ultra violent and bloody action packed series where its human vs pretty much inhuman and also lots of hectic shit happening throughout the story as well too.

Tragic stories highlighting the vices of man with a compelling cast 

With both having trippy visuals and similar themes , I found it hard to believe that they weren't directed by the same person. They both are netflix original anime's which may contribute to this seeming similarities. Both of the shows talk about topics of the mind and becoming someone you may not be. they both talk about growth and loss. 

Both are short shows mainly revolving around MCs who are forced by the call to action. Both the side casts play vital roles in the MC's development through guidance. Both struggle through great tragedy, which forces their characters to develop quickly as a result. Both these animes will leave a lasting impression on you. David and Akira are wonderfully written characters whose stories share similar undertones and ends. The main difference between those shows is that both shows' settings differ quite a bit. As do the situations which cause their hardships.  

If you enjoy Cyberpunk and the themes it explores, then you may also enjoy Devilman Crybaby. Both anime deal with questions of identity, morality, and the consequences of technological advancement. In Cyberpunk, we see a future world where humans have merged with machines and corporations rule over society. Devilman Crybaby, on the other hand, deals with the conflict between demons and humans, exploring the nature of good and evil and the struggle for survival. Both anime feature intense and visceral visuals, with a strong focus on world-building and creating immersive environments. They also share a common interest in exploring complex, thought-provoking themes. If you're a fan of Cyberpunk and are looking for an anime that explores similar themes in a unique and compelling way, then Devilman Crybaby is definitely worth checking out.  

Both are made by netflix and are 10 episodes each, Horny seggs and gore. And they also have something in common, Dystopian. They play your feelings like some damn fiddles! 

Firstly both animes have 10 episodes and a similar pacing. Also they share similairties in soundtrack, sexual content and their general vibe. For me both Cyberpunk Edgerunners and Devilman Crybaby felt like some kind of drug with intense feelings of violence and emotions 

Both anime has fully alive futuristic dystopia world, Both anime made us care and get emotionally attached to the characters, and Both anime leave us with with a tragic ending.  

Idk how cowboy bebop is not the most recommended after watching this This is litteraly the same anime: -Same characters (each character of one is in the other) -Same vibes likes futuristic world -characters are in both mercenary (in cowboy bebop headhunter) And there is a lot more but it's written [No spoiler] so i'll stick with that  

If you liked the space adventure vibe of cowboy bebop you will like the dynamics of the characters in cyberpunk; both have unique soundtracks 

Future themed, the rest is spoilers but if you like pain they're both good. Bebop is obviously better but still. 

Both have a great supporting cast, and both are tragic heart wrenching stories full if loss and personal growth. They are both set in the future and follow criminals trying to get through life in their own while dealing with their problems in their setting.  

Both are a standalone sci-fi that set off in a dystopic futuristic world through the lens of the outcasts of their societies, who live dangerously in the crime and bounty world while dealing with the elite and higher ups, showing the disparity in treatment, conditions and even support, since the displayed protagonists are just engines in a higher-end machination. 

Edgerunners and Psycho-Pass function as excellent examples of the cyberpunk genre with similar strengths but different tones and perspectives. Edgerunners examines those on the margins partnering together and crossing each other as needed to survive in the brutally unforgiving world of Night City controlled by mega corporations. The color and style of the show are bright and flashy which to speaks to the multitude of identities being haphazardly thrown together and forced to stand out to get ahead. Psycho-Pass takes place in an ostensibly utopic society where people's state of minds can be assessed by the state. It tackles the ethics of an "ideal society" and the role of and causes for criminality. Psycho-Pass feels straight out of a hardboiled noir detective film with realistic designs and a dark, cool color palette.  

Both are cyberpunk stories with lots of action,stylish visuals and animation as well as also lot of gore in it as well too and characters being killed at any moment. 

If you told me these take place in the same universe I might believe you. Psycho pass is a lot less flashy and a little more contemplative, but both are adult, violent, and about free will in a dystopian cyberpunk city.  

Both take place in futuristic dystopias in which the main characters are forced to navigate a world controlled by evil from the shadows, and have amazing themes and messages. Both are well paced and have very entertaining, high stakes plots that make you think. They're some of my favorite anime that I've seen. 

Both take place in a futuristic city, usually taking place at night. Both have complex characters, and the characters dont always win, so they can get pretty dark at times. Psycho pass is a little bit darker and psychological, however there are many similarities and both are great animes 

Grim and gritty yet action packed and exhilarating exploration of lack of social cohesion, extreme poverty and unceremonious, non-melodramatic suffering in corrupt urban dystopias. ESTP main characters with tragic lives 

Similarly charismatic cast, crazy off-the-rails plot & emotional beats 

Both are hiding some interesting twists in the story and having no sugar-coating for drastic moments. Meanwhile Chainsaw Man is more mystical, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is more technical, yet both of those pieces are trying to give you some good vibe and action with the building tragedy in the background. 

Similarly action-packed, dark and gorey in addition to an interesting plot and charismatic characters. 

Watch this if you like strong women. 

Dystopian cyberpunk with heavy doses of blood and gore. Don't forget the tragedy parts also. 

Bullied person becomes stronger in a city that isn't kind to its citizens. A lot of style and explosions.  

Both are rebellious cyberpunk themed stories that have a fight the power kind of theme and also characters getting more crazy as time goes by as well too and lots of stylish visuals and action as well too. 

• Both the action thriller anime have similar futuristic cyberpunk kind of setting. • Both are R-rated anime there are lot of Violence and Nudity throughout the series. • Both the anime have stunning art and animation with lots of iconic and memorable scene.  

Both Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi. As a result, both have similar art styles. Another thing that TTGL and Edgerunners share is the way both anime escalate to the finish line. However, aside from these similarities, there isn’t much shared between the two. Regardless, I was reminded of TTGL while watching Edgerunners, and is a good and lighter alternative. 

MC is very similar, striving to reach an impossible goal, both succeed but in their own way. Also the concept of being special, yet i would argue that Cyberpunk looks at not being special but being told you are, while gurren lagann looks at finding why you are special. Animation is both trigger so similar in quality. 

Both shows inflict emotional damage at regular intervals & aren't afraid of killing off their characters. Both shows have a song you'll never forget: Gurren Lagann has "Sorairo Days", Edgerunners has "I Really Want To Stay At Your House" There are more similarities, but they'd start to go into spoiler territory. It's a shame I can't mention it, as the most similar aspect between them is also the biggest spoiler. 

Both series are directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi so they have a similar style, in both series the protagonists have a concept of what it is to be special In addition to the fact that both reach a goal which seemed impossible for them, I could say much more but i would be entering into spoilers. 

I liked the way it handled itself with time skips and futuristic setting. Similar vibes and all, although maybe slightly different genre 

Gives the same vibes. Set in a futuristic world with robots and cyber war. Amazing story and choreography 

Science fiction, action, wholesome drama. Beautiful animation. 

Both are set in the future, have some commentary on what life is, and overall both felt the same when watching them somehow. I felt the same vibe I felt from CyberPunk when I watched Vivy, I liked them and disliked them for the same reasons 

Night City and Roanapur have a lot in common. 

Both share stylish visuals,storytelling and also lots of action as well too. And a mc getting caught up in the world of crime as well too. 

To me, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners feels like a more modern version of Black Lagoon to me. Both have the exact same premise, with the MC joining a group of people who don’t do the most legal things. Both have the same amount of strong language as well. However, there are some differences. Black Lagoon is more episodic and not as gory as Edgerunners. That and they have very different settings. However, if you liked Edgerunners, I’d suggest Black Lagoon next.

Both take place in futuristic cities. With cyborgs that plug into machines and can hack stuff. Both have a lot of nudity and violence but (Edgerunners has more)

Both anime presents a morally grey world where technology makes the difference between machines and humans vanish. While the Koukaku Kidoutai (aka Ghost in the shell) explores the philosophical aspects edge runners dwells deep into the physical aspects 

Both dystopian near future setting 

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is a great watch if you liked Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and vice versa. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is also fast paced, but there is much more world and character building which can get you more immersed in the experience. Edgerunners has some characters on the screen we'll never learn much about, and without playing the game, much of the lore can be lost on viewers. Both of these shows take place in the future, feature cybernetics and hackers, and powerful corporations. Ghost in the Shell follows a special law enforcement team which fall in and out of favor with the government vs. Edgerunners which follows a team of street mercs who take odd jobs from just about anyone. Ghost in the Shell is more concerned with ethics than Edgerunners, but protagonists in either show will put down a rabid dog when they must. The lead characters in both of these anime have tragic backstories, and also experience issues with their extensive cybernetics, though cyberpsychosis is not a thing in Ghost in the Shell. If you're coming from Edgerunners to Ghost in the Shell, I recommend watching the first two seasons, then the sequel movie (Solid State Society), then the SAC 2045 sequel on Netflix if you want the full experiance. If you're coming from Ghost in the Shell SAC to Edgerunners, I strongly recommend playing Cyberpunk 2077 so you're not so lost on lore and world details - there's a lot detail to the world of Edgerunners that simply cannot be conveyed in the OVA.

The main characters share similar stories in which you become extremely invested in. 

Both share stylish and edgy animation,art and visuals as well as a spunky female lead and lots of wild vehicle sequences too.

main guy is caught in a difficult situation, which leads him into obtaining dubious comradery with all sorts of outlaws, scammers, thieves and conmen. both are fast paced, and offer interesting visual solutions.  

• Both have similar vibe, feel more like a western animation show rather than a Japanese anime. • Both the anime have quite similar art style. • The music in both the anime is top tier and there is a perfect use of insert song through the series which helps to amplifing the emotion. • Both the anime is surprisingly dark although there are lots of comidic moments as well.  

Pretty similar character design and animations with lots of action! Both stand out with their music! Just fun to watch.. ENJOY!!! 

Obviously both is by the studio Trigger, so there is some similarity in script writing screenplay and art style. Both anime are about cool mecha, and technologically advanced themed things play a big part. If your like me, who enjoys robots and the neon looking artstyle, i definately reccomend. :) 

both are sci fi themed stories with a fight the power kind of theme to it. 

both future, both action + romance, both follow merc-ish groups. very similar themes great soundtrack, less gory and flashy than cyberpunk at times. if you are experiencing withdrawals from cyberpunk this is a must watch. not quite as polished as cyberpunk but still great. Also Inori is hella similar to Lucy.  

Very similar aesthetic and artstyle, characters are relatively similar and the stories are constructed in very similar ways. Both shows give off very "Americanized" vibes also. Both shows also have a very standard intro/middle/conclusion. This can be good because there is a constant building towards something (which is surprisingly absent from most anime, generally abiding by a different formulae from the west) but this does come at the cost of being more "predictable" 

Both share stylish visuals,edgy storytelling with some "colorful" characters and also lots of action as well too.  

call of the night is more aesthetic while cyberpunk is action packed. However both animes both have stunning visuals and call of the night is going to be action packed in the second season.  

Although the stories take a very different direction, the vibes and feel are very similar. Both have many great insert songs and gorgeous sky shots of cities. Despite Cyberpunk being much darker and more serious than Yofukashi no Uta, its chill moments really give a similar feeling of awe. 

Both focus on a mc being caught up into a world of crime as well as also becoming more renowned and deadlier as time goes by and also lot of action in it as well too. 

Both are anime adaptations of action video games. Not too similar visually but I think fans of the new Cyberpunk anime might still enjoy this 

Violence is the name of the game. Viscerous, grimy, gory... In short: Dorohedoro is more of a gory fantasy while Cyberpunk is mostly a explicit sci-fi 

Both are focused on trippy animation and have a very loose sense of story. They are also both set in the dark underbelly of society. 

sci-fi aesthetic with cool characters, but differente future vibes, while one goes with a noir aesthetic, the other one goes with a chaotic and flashy aesthetic 

They have similar storylines with similar characters, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a more "Cyberpunk" version of AOT, both super great. 

Texhnolyze and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners came out about 20 years apart, but they still have many similarities, both in terms of themes, story structure, and visuals. -they both are set in a bleak & hopeless Cyberpunk dystopian world. -the background for our protagonist (Ichise/David) are not too different, they lose their parents at a young age, grow up poor, then get into a though situation which requires getting cybernetic implants and as a consequence they get involved in an illegal organization. -both deal with the mental and physical consequences of transhumanism and of augmenting your body with mechanical parts, your have cyberpsychosis in Cyberpunk and being texhnolyzed in the titular show. -the finales are almost the same, protagonist fights his way into the enemy's headquarters to rescue female companion. -both are pretty bleak and nihilistic. No spoilers but they don't leave you feeling happy. Of course there are plenty of differences too. Texhnolyze is much slower paced and has more philosophical feel to it, while Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is more action packed and fast paced. While I personally wouldn't say I'm a big fan of either work, if you like Cyberpunk anime with dark vibes I think you would probably appreciate both of these shows.   

Living on streets are hard, people. That's why it's interesting to watch. Even more if your thugs are actual brainer PS: Viewers discretion is highliy advised 

Both are very similar in their apocalyptic world in which they must survive, I am sure that if you liked the plot of any of these animes you're going to like each other.
