Anime 53129 Seishun Buta Yarou Wa Odekake Sister No Yume Wo Minai Reviews

This shouldn't have been an independent film. Impeccable voice acting, exquisite yet impactful moments, Sakuta being the greatest Onii-chan there ever was - yet it felt... plain, at least compared to the previous arcs animated.

Despite all the conflicts Kaede faces throughout the show, all the heartwarming but slow build-up made it almost feel like a slice of life show rather than a supernatural and mysterious one. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as nothing feels forced, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I wanted more oomph to the story. I personally was craving for Futaba to ted-talk some next-level Nobel-prize winning hypothesis just ... for Sakuta to mess up everything and make the world fall apart...

Overall, a huge praise to Cloverworks for maintaining consistent and high quality animation as well as encapsulating each of the character's emotions perfectly in the segments that mattered the most. As an Ao-Buta fan, the better option might be to wait and binge watch everything later in the winter!

Also HOLY **** THE ENDING SONG SLAPS HARD

"Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out" earns a middling 6/10 rating due to its frustratingly unfulfilled potential. The anime, despite its intriguing premise, suffers from a pacing issue that makes it feel unnecessarily prolonged. The narrative, which could have been effectively condensed into a two-episode arc, is stretched thin over the duration of a movie, resulting in a lack of depth and exploration of the captivating themes introduced. This missed opportunity leaves viewers wanting more, not in a positive sense, but in a desire for a more focused and compelling storyline that fully utilizes the allotted time.

While the anime boasts interesting characters ... and a unique premise, it fails to capitalize on these strengths. The potential for emotional depth and character development within the movie format remains largely untapped, leaving audiences with a sense of unmet expectations. "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out" ultimately falls short of its promise, delivering a lukewarm viewing experience that leaves viewers pondering what could have been with a more judicious use of the available runtime.

This was a very wholesome and emotional movie. The quality of this series continues with this adaptation of the 8th Light Novel volume in the "Rascal Does Not Dream..." series. Cloverworks premiered this film in the United States during Anime Expo 2023 and I must say, the crowd went absolutely wild. The humor and the emotions present from previous Cloverworks adaptations are still present. The music is phenomenal, especially the ending song. *chef's kiss* The animation is the same level of quality, maybe even a bit better, than what we've seen in the past. Emotions are well conveyed through the animation with nothing looking out ... of the ordinary. Whenever this movie comes out in theaters, I would highly recommend staying to see what is after the credits. Either way, I wouldn't expect anyone leaving during the credits while an absolute banger is playing but the warning is there anyways. ;)

Quick Synopsis: Following the story of Kaede, we see her pursue her dreams of opening up to the world and being just like everyone else. Kaede is deciding on what high school to attend. While she settles on attending the High School her brother, Sakuta, went to, Kaede struggles to find out what she truly wants. Her current desires clash with her past wishes, resulting in Kaede struggling to find what is truly best for her.

I really hope Cloverworks continues with this level of quality and hopefully the screening has shown them that overseas audiences are receptive to future Rascal Does Not Dream anime adaptations. Let's hope this means less gaps in content releases, especially content released in Japan and delayed for overseas. It has been almost four years since the last movie...wow. I highly recommend this movie whenever it is available overseas. I will definitely be watching this movie again when I next get the chance.

*Ahhh the famous Bunny Girl Senpai series continues in the latest film.*

I have always looked at Bunny Girl Senpai as more Slice of Life anime mixed with slight elements of romance, the duo between Sakuta and Mai and their relationship dynamic is some of the more iconic relationship duo dynamic I have seen in anime..

Simply put, Sakuta and Mai literally have carried this series, and without them this series is ?? well, this series still has soul without them both as the central characters.

Don't get me wrong, this show would not be appealing without them both, but the one thing I liked about this series ... is that, even the side characters get some character development, while keeping the focus still on Mai and Sakuta.
This and Horimiya are probably the best examples of how to handle storytelling in romance/slice of life with multiple characters.

Not even once, you will ever feel that you are watching some filler content, the whole series is very consistent with its momentum built on the last episode.
As for this movie, this movie maintains the ambience and environment the first season and the movie created for the whole anime, with the storytelling quality still being very consistent. However I will advise the audience to go and watch the film expecting more of Sakuta's sister story and her interactions with other characters, unlike the first season, (also , as per the movie), this movie is more about kaede, than Mai and Sakuta, probably one of the reasons why people might feel dissappointed, but I assure you the little snippets of Mai and Sakuta and their interactions are enough for the audience to enjoy while also having a journey with Kaede as she reaches her adolescence,

In its entirety, this movie is more about brother and sister relationship, and I will strongly recommend people to watch it....

As we know this film won't arrive for some time in the States. I went overseas and watched it while it was in theatres and I would say this movie was pretty amazing, the vocals were perfect. expressing emotions when needed in a certain way that a teenager would express themselves. Although with that being said, the movie was plain and less intensive with some interesting and woah parts but other than that the other arcs are far better.

I think it's an overall watch if you want to truly continue the series and see some wholesomeness and especially see Mai ;) but sadly futaba wasn't ... pounding us with lots of knowledge like bill guy the science guy :((. would I still recommend it? absolutely it was still pretty good.

A very good movie that explores the sense of self and aspirations of Kaede, following through with the last arc of season 1. Although some may find that this movie pales in comparison to the previous movie, I personally found this to be both very relatable and entertaining. The movie quite thoroughly explores how the tumultuous lives of adolescents may be affected by the expectations of their peers and their family, and teaches a very important moral of not having to live up to the expectations of others, but to instead chase after your own dreams. Kaede's situation, although much more traumatic than the life ... of a regular teenage student, does strike a chord within me as there are often times in your life where you must make big decisions as to how to move forward.

This is just a slice of life with Kaeda coming out of her shell and accepting things. Comparing to season 1 and movie 1, this is pretty dull overall. There was one moment where something serious seemed to happened but it ended up not being a big deal. If you are expecting something to happen then you might want to skip this movie out because almost nothing happens in this movie. Replace all the other genre tags with slice of life feels more correct.

The animation, art style, sound, and characters overall is same as previously, decent but nothing out of this world.

I would recommend it ... if you are a big fan of this series, otherwise you may want to skip this.

took me a couple months but I finally found it online, subtitles were a little wonky but easily understandable just a little minor issues overall I didn’t really enjoy it. It was great film but personally I watched the rascal does not dream of series for mai and sakuta and I guess this was crucial character development. But yeah it was still a great movie and I can’t wait for the next one definitely shouldn’t take as long as it is to get to states I believe it’s still not out in states it came out on Blu ray and I was able to find ... it on some site anix.to I think it was.

This movie it's interesting and too much emotional. More character evolving is included.
Sakuta needs to prove how good he can be one more time, with Kaede in serious problems again. He isn't alone, the other girls still key pieces to the plot but when is your sister you charge with the most of charge. The movie has good animation, the dialogues are really good and get your attention in few scenes. Isn´t as great as the movie before this but still important to the franchise and always enjoyable.
The next movie seems to be better than this one considering the trailer that they give us.
Despite all ... this, Bunny girl senpai continues making a good job, totally worth wacthing anime and most interesting content is coming.

It's just another subpar addition to the Seishun Buta Yarou Series.

There's barely any story, the movie is about Kaede deciding between correspondence school and Sakuta's school and that's it, not much occurs that could create any gripping tension. Even though this movie is only one hour long, it still feels way longer than it should be due to the lack of plot. Combined with the lack of substance, the anime still keeps the flaws of its predecessors. Cringeworthy interactions with Sakuta, especially with Mai, jokes that weren't funny for the first time being repeated after many times; scenes of the characters just doing daily normal ... stuff, which could work for a slice of life with good characters, which is not the case for this anime. And about the characters; it seems like they had to fill all the previous cast somehow even though they were completely irrelevant, so there are many random scenes with characters like Futaba and Tomoe that are pointless and dull.

The art style and animation are the same, mediocre and nothing to write home about. Even though it's a movie, there's no new song. Just like in the previous piece, they just use the old ending song and that's it. There's nothing memorable about the soundtrack.

It's hard to find something good to say about this movie, the only thing is that Kaede gets a lot of screen time. Even though this movie was focused on Kaede, who is the best character in this franchise, it wasn't able to present a compelling story, which is a waste of a good character. Her struggle with social anxiety makes for a promising setting, but it falls flat with the poor execution. This low-effort piece of media is not only bad but an offense to the honor of anime fans. It's unnaceptable to present an anime in this state and expect people to like it.

I'm going to make this short because I want to justify my rating. I do want to give this movie a 10/10, but I can't find it in me to. The movie is focused around Kaede this time, and they do a wonderful job of giving her the spotlight. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! I feel like it added a lot to the story. Just compared to the other movie + show, it doesn't really hold a candle to them. So it was really good, just not over the top like the others. If you enjoyed the others, you will enjoy this one too!

I liked the movie and that they showed us what the current Kaede think about people around her and that she think that her brother(Sakuta) prefer the other Kaede not the current Kaede and how things turns out, Sakuta and Mai and the others support her and help her for the entrance exam. Sakuta try to do anything he can to help his little sister with the help of others and he find out about the distance school and is curious about what is the best for Kaede but he don't want to do something for Kaede if she isn't happy about it. He want ... her to do what she wants to do. Overall a good movie and waiting for the next movie.

Bunny girl is by far my favourite anime. The whole first season was packed with emotional moments and the first movie was the grand finale that managed to tie everything together in a spectacular manner. I binged it all in one night and there hasn't been another show that even came close to giving me an emotional rollercoaster of the same intensity. I cried for hours and even the whole next day I had a sort of "after glow" of all the emotions it caused in me, it was certainly an experience.

And so it really pains me to see, that this movie was nothing like ... that and it pains me even more to give this movie such a bad review. Heck, 4 might even be too good of a rating, but I can't get myself to rate it any worse due to the emotional attachment I have to this series. The best way to describe this movie is "bland". There is just nothing happening here. As in, I can't even spoil the movie if I wanted to, because there is nothing happening here and when the credits started rolling I was genuinely caught so off-guard: "Wait, was that it?"

This whole movie feels like an OVA about Kaede, Sakuta's sister, and one that could easily fit into 1 - 2 20min episodes. Which is to say, that it feels very insignificant. Even if Kaede is your favourite character, you might find this movie kinda dull, given that there is barely anything (if anything at all) of emotional intensity here, the very thing that made the series so great in the first place. And well, if you want to see more of the other characters, you're going to be even more unfulfilled (e.g. we get exactly one scene where Futaba appears - just one - and she used to be in almost every episode and had her own arc).

Maybe my opinion will change once the next movie is released (or the one after that etc.), but as of right now, beyond the short 10 second teaser for the next movie, I don't see how anything that happened here is relevant to the overarching plot of the series. In general, this whole arc seems very unfitting to have it's own movie made for it, instead it would have made way more sense as a sort of "side arc" for a season 2 (if we ever get one - hopefully).

I have to admit, I still enjoyed the movie, simply because this is my favourite series, but it does leave me unfulfilled. The whole thing is missing the vibe of the rest of the series, meaning it feels super generic and misses a lot of the elements that made this series so special in the first place - The witty dialogue and interactions, puberty syndrome, the emotional rollercoaster, our favourite characters (Shoko doesn't appear once and only gets a single mention - and that after the end of the last movie? Are you kidding me?) ...

Watch it if you love the series. Otherwise, this will probably feel like unnecessary filler to you and can safely be skipped.

Hopefully the next movie makes up for it.

After the series and the 1st movie, this is an odd one out. Not necessarily in a bad way, but it sets an unrealistic expectation. It's pretty much like any other storyline in the series or the 1st movie, but there's much less happening, not many twists. It's easier to treat this movie as slice of life, this way it's really pleasant and a good extension to the story told so far.

Just like in the previous realeases the characters are mostly well written, there's development for the characters that the movie focuses on.

If you're interested in the series/1st movie you should watch it, but don't ... come in expecting too much emotions or twists to the story, treat it as slice of life. I'd argue that even at 1 hour 13 minutes it could've been made shorter.
