After watching the first season of Horimiya, despite enjoying it from start to end, I'm sure at least some of us were also left with a slight sense of incompleteness.

The nagging feeling that there were some...missing pieces, if you will.

From a visual standpoint there was nothing to complain about, the main couple was great, and it's exactly the kind of low-stakes mainly fluff romance that would normally get full marks from romance enjoyers. But even so - some pieces are bound to go missing (okayi'm sorryi'llstopnow) when the truck carrying them has a space shuttle engine in the back and is flying at a ... breakneck average speed of about 10 chapters/episode, and their absence was strongly felt by many, especially in the latter half - where dissatisfaction with the not-always-successful attempts of the adaptation to introduce the large side cast of Horimiya to the audience was fairly common.

But what's said is done, and Horimiya is over. So what could this new cour possibly bring to the table at this point? Well, it brings exactly what it says in the title.

Horimiya : The Missing Pieces is not a sequel, and it's not a remake either. It is basically a...sidequel. It goes down exactly the same road as the original - but it leaves the space shuttle truck-kun in its parking lot, and walks with us at a pleasant, leisurely pace through the daily lives of the Horimiya cast.

Now, what's the point of that, you may ask? We already know the outcome of everything. We saw the graduation. So why?

Well, this part is just my opinion of course - but this approach is exactly what allowed the greatest thing about the Horimiya manga - the amazing chemistry between each and every character and the way they all flawlessly bounce off each other - to truly shine, creating something even better in the process.

The side characters, which basically existed somewhere in a limbo between relevance and insignificance in the main show, came to life this season in the best way possible through various skits featuring them in situations mainly unrelated to the progress of their romantic relationships.
One skit focuses on a girl realizing in horror that she'll most likely have to babysit her friends for the rest of her life if she wants them to survive making breakfast, in the next two the show suddenly becomes a Cute Boys Doing Cute Things show with gay undertones, and from there we go on to showcase the dire need of the entire Hori family for professional psychological help. Each of the skits is hilarious, most of them are unhinged, a lot of them are sweet, and they have some of the absolute best character interactions I have seen in my many years of watching anime.
And of course, HoriMiya themselves don't take a backseat - both of them, often together, participate in this madness. There's plenty of sweet moments between them as a couple, and their relationships with the rest of the cast are explored in depth as well.

As for my review of the "sidequel" approach itself - while it might not have the structural fluidity of a normal 24-episode adaptation, the reality is that such an adaptation is not always possible on the production side. And as far as alternatives go, this approach, to me, is an absolutely brilliant idea which I hope gains traction for previously finished Slice of Life shows. After all, who would say no to an extra season of the daily shenanigans of the characters they love?

To sum it up, if you liked Horimiya's characters even a little bit, this is an absolute must-watch. 10/10 to the idea, and an even stronger 10/10 to its execution. Thank you to everyone involved in this for making these 3 months a genuinely more enjoyable time for me.

If you were to tell me that I would be reviewing a second season for Horimiya after the conclusion of the first, I would’ve probably laughed in your face, but here we are.

A string of wacky adaptations that condensed the series from a 500+ chapter web novel to a 122-chapter manga and further to a 13-episode anime resulted in a finished product that had cut out a large majority of the series’ content. This cutting of content is actually done well; especially in the anime where no major story beats were cut in a somehow conclusive story. Nearly 60% of the manga’s content was ... cut from the anime: almost all of it was pure, unadulterated, school-days slice-of-life content that would waste the runtime dedicated to the more nuanced and mature story. That’s where Horimiya: The Missing Pieces comes in.

The Missing Pieces is the perfect title for this season, in more ways than one. Sure, it is picking up the “missing pieces” that the first season of the anime didn’t adapt, but it is also “missing pieces” from that first season. The slice-of-life content is loosely put together and the individual short stories rarely relate to each other. The length of Miyamura’s hair is the only way for a viewer to tell whether a given episode happens while Miyamura and Hori are dating. Even though every character in the series is present, all of the character development happened last season, leaving little for this one. It’s a grab bag of Horimiya content that almost feels like the creators ran the first season through an AI and told it to make another 13-episode season based on it. Hell, even the OP and ED are worse than what the first season had to offer. I can go on and on with various misgivings and nitpicks about this series, but through 3 episodes, I can’t help but say that I’m enjoying myself.

Most of the “issues” that this season has are just byproducts of its existence. Of course, the story and character development is going to be worse, we’ve already seen all the series has to offer in those departments. I don’t typically care for slice-of-life anime, especially ones that reuse the typical school-days tropes, but for some reason, it works well here. Maybe it’s just that the characters have more mature and nuanced personalities that lend themselves better to the type of series that Horimiya wants to be, but for once, I’m actually kind of excited to see how the cast handles the inevitable culture/sports festival or fireworks episode. That’s right! I’m excited for the most overused trope in sol anime because good characters are behind it. It’s Kaguya-sama all over again.

The Missing Pieces will only amount to being a Horimiya lite because of its lack of story and overall, it’s less impactful to both the viewers and the genre. However, it’s still enjoyable for fans of Horimiya. Naturally, if you didn’t like the original series, you’ll probably hate this, but that’s beside the point. This right here is shaping up to be a fun anime. It’s exciting to see what the cast can do when they are thrown together with no objective that needs to be completed. It’s not that well put together. It’s not that impactful. It’s not that nuanced compared to the original series, but god damn is it enjoyable as all hell. And assuming they don’t mess the adaptation up from here on out, it’ll stay that way.

Writing this review so that I can come back later in the future to rediscover what I felt today as I finished watching the last episode of Horimiya: Piece.

Even if they are tying up loose ends and no episodes being linked with one another, HOWEVER being so invested in the characters and their development throughout the story almost brought tears to my eyes every time I watch an episode knowing we are one more step closer to ending the series as a whole.
Now that I have finished it, idk how I feel about it... is it a perfect 10? a perfect ending? but ... that doesn't matter anymore as we move on with our lives, we hold onto our ideals and principles adopted from different stages of our lives and Horimiya is just that...A stage in my life where I felt at ease watching some characters being so relatable and wholesome for me.

It was in the winter of 2021 that one of the best rom-com appeared on the screen. Horimiya is not just about the romance and comedy; the slice-of-life element has been supporting the show and bringing it to a different level that is amusing to watch. As a coming-of-age genre lover, Horimiya definitely caught my eye, and I know it’s a wholesome anime with its uniqueness and high quality of colourful animation and depiction that was projected to the audience. Despite the fact that the favour for the coming-of-age genre could be personal and subjective, the best part of it is that it can give ... simple pleasure.

As we know, what we’ve seen this time are pieces of side stories in the original, as the previous one has already animated the original ending in manga. There is no doubt that I thought it was the end, and now we have more time watching Hori-san and Miyamura spend precious time with lovely people around them. Frankly, the feeling of watching the first episode was quite strange and surreal, as it’s hard to believe that I am still watching Horimiya with new animated stories. I took some time to immerse myself in the show until episode 5, and this episode is probably my favourite episode out of all. The episode begins with introducing the Iura siblings, whose interaction has lightened up my mood, and somehow I started to have an authentic enjoyment. Likewise, what else could be more enjoyable than watching the characters have all kinds of jokes? Friendship and family bonding have always been the value of the show other than romance.

The presence of each character is vital, as their effects on the show can’t be left out. To put it in simple words, Horimiya merely has an appealing character design. This may be irrelevant, but I do think designing the characters with different hair colours is a very good choice. The variety of appearances can better portray a character as noticeable and likeable with catalytic voice acting that further enhance the impression on them. Also, there is some moment with something like a colour background when the character has felt something, while that is quite unique and aesthetic. It is interesting to see how the staff could come up with these ideas and ways for depiction. In short, there is nothing to complain about about the overall anime adaptation because it is merely outstanding.

Overall, it was a well-spent time watching the show. This could be the end, but we already got an extra bonus for having Horimiya: piece. Is it a masterpiece for you? Whether it is or not, it surely has made a standout in showing what a youthful school-themed anime could look like with the effort and love put into production.

PS: The last episode kinda hit different with the OST, seriously don't want it to end.

IT'S SO FUN, like, I laughed in every episode without exception. Unlike the first part, this season is not so focused on romance, and opens up more to other characters. I loved how the main group was developed to the point where it was impossible not to like everyone. It's super light, and even with some jokes that perhaps the most annoying ones won't like, it's totally worth it. The animation is beautiful, and the soundtrack really pleased me!! There are several cores that have been developed very well. I think everyone who gives it a chance will definitely like it ♡

Horimiya: Piece (2023)

A true coming of age.

I love this, what a perfect way to add more to the show and make up for what we have missed in season 1. I wish it had the announcement for a second season after this.

The story is excellent, it feels so good, I love the mist that surrounds them during the critical moments and the ending was just insane! It is one of my favourite shows of its type. The art looks gorgeous, I love it.

The sound is great, the voices are perfect, and the music and the original soundtrack really give depth. The opening and closing ... music really hits you where you feel.

The characters are all the same with some additions that were perhaps spoken of but not seen. What it does do is give you so much more than you would usually expect and you see so many different characters develop. Many different characters that I could just think, I want to be that person or I wish that happened to me.

What hits me the most is this is a story right at the end before going to be adults and having the choice of a job or university. It is the point that many people go their separate ways and it is sets of relationships at their pinnacle with the shock of what if they didn't, it could have been too late in the future and not happened. This is a very real situation, since how many people did you know from school, like, want to ask out and so on do you even still know.

For me 10/10, I just wish anime would push into adulthood and university and beyond to make the stories continue beyond.

'Horimiya: The Missing Pieces' is clearly an anime that works excellently as a slice-of-life romance. Among the anime series that I have watched, this is one of my favourite animation and art styles developed by Cloverworks. Although it may act as a side-story to the original season, Horimiya still works well. Somehow, a series that takes small pieces from the parent story can still conduct a relatable storyline and insert wholesome moments from time-to-time, and the comedy through dialogue between supporting characters remains just as entertaining as before. It is clear that people's expectations for this series were a bit high, and ... it appears there are some criticisms regarding how parts of this season feel 'spliced' in a way. However, this does not concern me.

I feel as if the whole point of a slice-of-life genre is that people are supposed to enjoy these small, heartwarming moments between characters, and not have a single worry about what happens next unlike the many primary shonen action series that require a storyline and exciting plot to be good. Even though this 'second' season lacks a continuous storyline like others, that does not make it bad. Other creations by Cloverworks like the second season of the Promised Neverland don’t work well because it needs a storyline to be successful—this is completely different. The whole objective of this was for people to watch the original parent story and feel emotion through a captivating storyline between Hori-san and Miyamura-kun, and through this series, casually and comfortably watch a feel-good show—sort of like Spy x Family in a way—but ends in a way that remains just as memorable as its predecessor. For those whose preferences do not align with that, this season will not be of interest to you. Nevertheless, I cannot deny that Cloverworks dug themselves into a hole by skipping many parts of the original manga of Horimiya. However, that doesn't mean they have not executed this side-story nearly just as well.

Horimiya: The Missing Pieces was always going to be something that would not fit everyone's tastes from the start, but unlike others, it is definitely something I have found a remarkable series. It is something that I would highly recommend if you thoroughly enjoyed the first season and if you just want to chill and enjoy the pleasant moments that come with it. After finishing this series, at least it feels that Horimiya is finally complete, and Cloverworks has somehow managed to construct so much from just missing pieces. I guess it also comes from Hero and Daisuke Hagiwara's efforts as well.

I am just beyond overjoyed and delighted that we'll have more Horimiya to cherish and remember for years to come. Thank you for reading :)

When I heard that a second season of Horimiya was releasing, I was both excited and confused. On the one hand, yay more Hori and Miyamura! But on the other, the ending of Horimiya was already pretty good.

But then the first three episodes of Horimiya were pretty good bangers.

The Story: Horimiya: The Missing Piece are just a collection of little side-stories from Horimiya. There *really* isn't a story and it is a sequel.

The first three episodes were the Sports Fest and Escaping Swimming.

Escaping Swimming was the first one, where Miyamura and the President did not want to swim because of Miyamura's ... tattoos and the President not wanting to swim. A simple plot right?

But I had a lot of fun.

This is the quintessential Slice of Life show. A lot of comedy and the daily lives of these high schoolers. It is quite good

The following 2 episodes were the Sports Fest episodes. Where Miyamura is suddenly invigorated to compete in the sports fest because of Hori.

The Animation: Okay now here is where it gets a little questionable. The animation is okay. Serviceable if you will. But nothing special. In fact, it is behind not only recent shows, but I find older shows such as Hyouka, another Slice of Life show.

Hyouka was made in 2012 by the way. And has much much better animation.

In Horimiya, it felt a little lazy if you will. There are no real stylistic "bold" choices. It is quite bland in terms of art style. A lot of the SoL animes have visually appealing choices. Nichijou has its own style, Azumanga has its own, Hyouka has its own, Gintama has its own, and these shows have their own style. Horimiya? Nah it seems like it is quite bland.

I'd prefer the artistic choice of Clannad over this, even though it did not have the best animation it was very bold and had its own personality. But I really cant compare Clannad to anything, it would be unfair to the animation world.

The OP is quite good. I liked the first one *slightly* more but all in all the horimiya OP's hit hard. They are seriously good music.

I somewhat felt the beginning of OP 2 was similar to OP 1, even though the first one's by Yoh Kamiyama and the 2nd one's from Omoinotake.

I liked Kamiyama's version but yea both are good

Final Consensu: If you already watched Horimiya, Horimiya: The Missing Piece is a no brainer. I'd start the show all over again to watch it. Again, like I said in the last review, watching Hori and Miyamura makes me feel quite lonely haha.

Final Score: 7/10 it is a nice fun SoL anime.

Executives: We already produced the Horimiya main series; what's left to milk the series even further?
Producers: As a matter of fact, there is! With so much of the content spliced out of the main series, let's do another one, and let's call it "piece", like picking up remnants to make sure that those who have mixed feelings or hate the main anime, will feel more fulfilled this way.
We, the audience: WHAT DA HECK are you talking about!?

In Winter 2021, the anime adaptation of Horimiya debuted to a lot of fanfare in what was really considered the rom-com of the season (against ... heavyhitters like 5-toubun no Hanayome a.k.a. The Quintessential Quintuplets Season 2), and I still stand by what I wrote in my extensive review 2.5 years ago since the anime's conclusion of its own story. By far, the biggest problem with the main series is its pacing, which for an esteemed manga series from mangaka HERO and illustrator Daisuke Hagiwara, which I've explained of the Pareto Principle of Horimiya being 80% slice-of-life, 20% romance, that fright became true when most of the slice-of-life segments were glossed over for the main couple's progression through Hori Kyosuke and Izumi Miyamura, taking us through the 16-volume, 122-chapter long manga, focusing squarely on them. Even to this day, I feel somewhat conflicted by the production committee's choice to loosely adapt the manga to get to the intended ending, because they'll never know if they have the chance to adapt Horimiya again in the near future.

Well, guess what? In March of this year, in one of Japan's most celebrated anime cons of AnimeJapan, Aniplex chose to announce the second series in the Horimiya franchise, dubbed -piece-. And to be fair, it does what the series was intended to do: adapt mini-arc stories from HERO and Daisuke Hagiwara's manga that was not adapted in the main anime in the first place, which ired fans all the more thinking that if Aniplex had chosen NOT to do what they did with the massive blasphemy that was Season 2 of Yakusoku no Neverland a.k.a The Promised Neverland, IN THAT EXACT SAME SEASON of all coincidences, I too would've wished that Horimiya would've gotten the FMA: Brotherhood treatment, but it looks like Aniplex's management didn't see the backlash coming from a mile away. Since the irreparable damage was already done by then, Aniplex probably reneged that the future development of Horimiya would be downsized to just focus on whatever was missing from the anime, since there is no point wasting money in the millions (of Japanese yen) to re-adapt the story from the get-go, as it was originally intended to be.

So then, we get Horimiya -piece-, or as Crunchyroll puts it, The Missing Pieces, which is THE perfect name for the side-story-ish season to the main parent story, featuring all of the cast of characters that you know and love about Horimiya from the main season back in Winter 2021. Just like Kaguya-sama: Love is War, since Horimya is made up of 80% of the slice-of-life moments, the side story anime puts its emphasis on that, and for much as I want to nitpick based on past experiences, I have to say that Horimiya: Piece, for the most part, sticks to its guns well...mostly because it already had the completed manga from the get-go at the production committee's request to handpick segmented stories that they feel would be best justified to show on the small screen, which for recent comparisons, is like Ousama Ranking: Yuuki no Takarabako a.k.a The Treasure Chest of Courage. Hori, Miyamura, and the character cast basically need no discussion if you've watched the anime back in the day or have caught up with it before the premiere of -piece-, everything about them feels as engaging as it is with the main series.

Speaking of engaging, since the side story anime has all of the VAs and the production committee intact, it should be no surprise that CloverWorks still has the elements for a well-rounded production, taking cues from the main series and giving it the exact same flare as 2.5 years ago. With a few refinements here and there, -piece- should bring you back to the moments of the main series, the same way as we all left off with the anime back then, albeit that it wasn't perfect and had consequences, sacrificing aspects of the pacing.

That brings me to the music for -piece-. I loved the heck out of the OST of the main series with Yoh Kamiyama and Friends's OP and ED songs respectively, but Omoinotake and Ami Sakaguchi's OP and ED song combination serving as the side story anime's OST is just decent at best. Copying as much inspiration mainly from the former's OP song production, which was very immaculate and still one of the best OP sequences that I can remember to this day.

At the end of the day, I still have to ask this question: Is it better that we (literally) finally had The Missing Pieces to fill up what was apparently left with the gaping hole that was the anime adaptation of Horimiya? The final answer, I'll leave it to you to decide. But as of now (and definitely forever), The Missing Pieces is a good standalone derivative of the franchise, and deep in my heart, I'm still wishing for a FMA: Brotherhood adaptation that'll never come.

Horimiya, both anime adaptations of the main story and its side story, count the 2.5-year-long lingering matter as settled. There is no more debate left to be said.

If there’s a series that I was going to guess at getting another season, Horimiya wasn’t one of them. Regardless, as soon as I heard it was announced, I knew I’d watch it immediately. Even though it’s not a true sequel, I’ll assume you’ve seen the main story series for the purposes of this review.

Story & Characters: Horimiya: The Missing Pieces takes many of the plot points that was skipped over in the main series, and creates a compilation of them into this thirteen episode series. Because of that, the story flow of this season isn’t linear in the same way that ... the main story was. Something in me wonders what the result would have been if Horimiya was released as a two-part cour rather than season one, plus pieces of the side story. The events still feel like they take place between certain episodes of the main story which obviously comes with its own pros and cons.

Agree with it or not, there was a lot of good material that was seemingly skipped over from Horimiya from the source material and it made the main story feel somewhat rushed at certain points. It certainly was not for everyone. That being said, a lot of this season was really quite funny, especially in the first half. They keep the story pretty fresh and unpredictable, which I certainly appreciated. A lot of it is Miyamura and Hori hanging out with their respective friend circles, which gives you a better idea of how they are apart from each other. Sure, we got the idea of how they were before dating in the main story, but seeing their casual lives was a nice treat.

Our vast cast of characters from the first season all return, and they’re really strong, once again. Miyamura and Hori aren’t focused on nearly as much with this series, and as a result, this series doesn’t have all the romance aspects that the parent story had. They still show up with a few cute moments, but it makes this series come off as a school comedy of sorts at times. Other characters are focused on much more, some resulting in a better viewing experience and some not. Sengoku, the student president, likely has the most screentime, but I do wish there was less of him. After so long, his attitude toward others gets predictable. Yoshikawa and Ayasaki are characters I was a fan of previously and they were still fantastic here. Yasuda, one of the students’ teachers, gets some screentime and he’s as sarcastic as they come – he’s great. Yanagi was a character I wasn’t sure I’d like with more screentime, but he also holds up quite well.

The final episode was really well done with a fantastic monologue by Hori, reminding me of why I loved the main story so much. It feels like a finale all over again, and that’s how the main story felt at the end too. (Story: 7/10, Characters: 8/10)

Art: I wasn’t particularly high on the main story’s animation at the time, but it still gets the job done, here. CloverWorks does a fine job, even if the latter episodes started to give way a little. (7/10)

Sound: Most of the same tracks return from the main series, and they’re strong once again. I actually thought the OP was done by the same artist, but it’s apparently not – this time, it’s done by Omoinotake. It sounds basically the same! Alejandro Saab (Miyamura) loved voicing this in the original project and him, along with everyone else from the main story returns. Saab keeps his character’s personality in check and it results in some great work. I was worried they would have trouble getting some of their bigger names to return – Johnny Yong Bosch (Yanagi), Apphia Yu (Sawada) and Jalitza Delgado (Ayasaki) in particular – but they’re all back, and exceptional. Marisa Duran (Hori) was a very mixed bag in the original series, but it feels like she eases into her role much better this time around. (9/10)

Overall: I was very worried I wouldn’t like Horimiya: The Missing Pieces, but I’m happy to state that it’s still strong – even if it’s less focused on the romantic aspect than before. There was still enough solid material left over to create this season and it results in a strong collection of shorter plot points. (8/10)

Horimiya: Piece was so much fun from start to finish, for a season that didn't particularly progress any major plot I enjoyed the hell out of this, I'd argue it even outshone the first season at times. Comedically this season was great, so many laugh out loud moments and funny little scenes between characters that never made for a dull moment. I really do think the characters stood out across the episodes, I felt the balance between them all was great and there were a lot of group scenes which I think were handled really well, giving everyone a bit of focus but not forcing ... any character forwards. Art and animation this season were great too, very pretty once again and really added to a lot of the softer and more introspective scenes.

Overall a great season and a perfect continuation from what came before, definitely watch if you enjoyed season 1!

I gave this score after watching Hormiya and Horimiya:piece in chronological order, and it was even a more memorable experience than watching Horimiya for the first time. More scenes about all the members so we can get to know their characters better, more interactions, more memorable moments. Even though some people thought there were some moments that were unnecessary or too extended etc, I still liked it and enjoyed it.
I hope Horimiya and Horimiya:piece are made into a unified series so that we don't have to watch episodes back to back (like I did).
Overall, I don't know why this series hit me so ... hard, maybe there are some moments/events that I've experienced in my own life, but after watching both series, I give it a higher score. (probably the best romance anime in my opinion)

This is a day I'm sure we've all been waiting for: Horimiya finally got a second season. Now, there's a few things to know before getting into this show. This doesn't serve as a prequel or an epilogue to the original show, but rather wrapping up the original story; hence the name "Horimiya: The Missing Pieces". I personally thought they did an excellent job of this. I rewatched the original show before this just to give my brain a refresher, and that is something I would recommend. I know some might not like this, but I feel like the show didn't really focus on Miyamura ... and Hori as much in the second season, but I was okay with that. I really like all the little side stories with each character, and it felt like I got to know the other characters better in this second season. I think the show really accomplished what it was going for: tying off the loose ends to the story. Overall, I'd give it an 8/10. I think it was executed wonderfully.

Honestly after the first few episodes I was left feeling a little disappointed and worried that the series was just simply not anywhere near as good as the main series. Luckily it seemed to pick up a bit after that and I ended up enjoying the show a lot, not quite at the level of the main but honestly not too far off. Obviously the story as a whole is barely existant, as all of the important story sections were used in the main series, but many of the included scenes and micro-storylines were just as fun and, overall I feel that it adds a ... lot to the experience for an anime only viewer.

Another season of the one of the best Romcom animes?! If you enjoyed Horimiya then you would definitely enjoy Horimiya: Piece.

I'm not going to ramble on but it is basically parts of the story but into little pieces that weren't covered by the original anime. Little moments like these make it so enjoyable to watch. The comedy is awesome, the humor put into this normal slice of life romance is absolutely what makes the Horimiya series so good. The characters in the story are also all very very lovable. It makes it feel you are actually in their life, friends with them.

So far, this season is very good. It is a bunch of one-shots that did not make the original season. Each episode is funny, has the same humor as the previous season, and fulfills my need for more Horimiya content. It is also very easy to watch. As in, it is calming and isn't the type of anime where you need your full 1000% undivided attention. (I'm saying this because I watched the first 6 episodes as I was very sick and it made me feel better about my situation.) The art style is just the same and honestly, that is one of the things ... I love about this show. It has such a beautiful art style and is so nice to look at. If you are in need for more Horimiya content, I would most surely recommend starting to watch this.

If you were a manga fan who watched season 1 and said, "this would literally be perfect, but... they cut out all the fun, boring, inconsiquential fluffy relationship stuff that made the series special," well then do I have great news for you!
This is like season 1.1 + 1.2 + 1.5 +1.67 + 2.01 - at some point i'll come back and do a sequential watch order for combining the missing pieces into the original Horimiya season.
This season is so good that it retroactively fixed all the complaints I had about season 1 and thereby raises the score for me for the first ... season after the fact. I'm not sure any series has ever done this for me to be perfectly honest. But, this one earned it.
Stellar stuff.

All this being said: I absolutely despise the fact that this season had to exist. It would have been so much better if all of this content was included originally and the series had just been green-lit from the get-go with sufficient episodes to cover all the content. But, we can't always get what we want. I hope this type of 'expansion' season doesn't become normalized, but if having it means we get significantly more of a good thing that we originally didn't get enough of, then I'm down for it.

It's a go to anime when ever you are feeling low. You will enjoy each and every episode from starting to end,its that much fun watching.If you have already watched the actual part it consists of stories between the timeline which never featured.
Animation quality pretty good than the first part and the design part of the character doesn't change at all which is a good part.
Music part uses the same backtrack but different lyrics than the first part but its good music.
Storyline is the main highlight it consists a very refreshing and happiness filled storyline

Conclusion :- If you like high school romcom and good quality ... of that part its good to go anime for you and i prefer you to watch the first part if you haven't started yet.For people who like dark humour or more like dark kind of content its not your cup of tea.

This story is great! Even if this is not a continuation, it still had that same feel to it.
That same bittersweet feeling of looking back at all the character's development and happenings in their life, making you look back and relate it to your own life.
If you're someone who looks back and cherishes your friendships and memories, this and the first show is for you!
It made me tear up just remembering the first time these characters reacted to each other, compared to how they reacted at the end.
The ending of this show made me feel like I watched Horimiya for the first ... time again. That bittersweet ending were you're glad it all happened, but sad that it will also just become memories now.
I have nothing else to say but go watch it and enjoy it for what it is. Godbless.

The Dorks We Missed Along the Way.

The original run of Horimiya was a banger held back by its thirteen-episode limit. The Missing Pieces is here to animate more of the slice-of-life scenes the original run missed out on in the form of an anthology.
I would’ve highly preferred CloverWorks had either just animated the manga semi-faithfully and in order between either a twenty-four-episode run or a two-season split, but at the same time if you’ve watched the original run and were craving more Horimiya, The Missing Pieces works as that shot in the arm of adrenaline you get from watching loveable dorks being loveable dorks. ...

There isn’t much to say about Horimiya: The Missing Pieces. It is more Horimiya. CloverWorks’ wonderful art and animation perfectly capture the manga, the cast of Hori, Miyamura and the gang are still deeply loveable, believably angsty teenagers who lean and poke fun at each other for completely inconsequential things that won’t matter years or even minutes from their time, and the way the show storyboards and presents small moments and tinges between characters through small but effective background art changes and the OST that say everything a character is thinking without them verbalising their thoughts to the audience is incredibly touching.

Despite being called The Missing Pieces, I was disappointed that there were still some moments that had failed to be put onto the screen. One of my favourite moments in the manga, the rain scene near the beginning of the story is still not animated. There were others too, like the small story between Hori’s little brother, Souta and his childhood friend going through their high school moments for example.

Despite small disappointments here and there, I do love Horimiya. If you haven't watched the original run, and I highly recommend you do it's a good show, you’ll be lost going in blind.
However, because of how dynamic the cast is Missing Pieces strangely works as an anthology. There was never a moment where I found it jarring to jump from one scenario to the next. Although I was buying the manga volumes and reading along each week, that helped.

9/10 Amazing.
