Synopsis

Joe Higan is a Nukenin – a former ninja who escaped his clan and is hiding from his violent past in rural America with his family. One night, he is ambushed by a team of assassins from his former organization who exact a bloody retribution on Joe and his family for betraying their ancient code. Rising from his seeming "death," Joe will re-emerge as his former self – Ninja Kamui – to avenge his family and friends. Kamui is a 21st century ninja, a shadowy anachronism who pits his ancient skills against high-tech weaponry with brutal finesse. He must face off against trained assassins, combat cyborgs, and rival ninjas to bring down the very clan that made him.

This show is awesome. Animation and fights are top notch. Most the reviews on here are weird people honestly. The show has a score near 8 so the studio clearly made content appealing to their target audience and the reviewers on this site are generally out of touch. If you like action, adult content, and great fight animation you have it all. It's a Ninja Gaiden classic story being remade. Haters gone hate.

Story: Dope action revenge Ninja Gaiden story being retold.
Animation: Amazing art style, fluid animation, great fights

Preliminary (9/13 eps)

The first 4 episodes - what an adrenaline rush! Thrilling fighting scenes, shaky camera, and splashes of blood everywhere. But that's about it. With all the violence stripped away, the main plot of Ninja Kamui was just a clichéd revenge story weaved in some bigger conspiracies.

It's easy to see which audience this anime is target for. From theme to characters, everything screams deja vu. Is it Ninja Slayer? Or maybe John Wick? It doesn’t matter - any of the characters showing up could be traced to a number of prototypes.

I didn't expect much because I knew the plot was the same old generic "revenge plot" that is used over and over again but at least the beginning was interesting enough to keep my attention, even if the plot is generic the journey can be enjoyed if they handle it well, however, that didn't happen here, they handled it really poorly and I could tell the script and direction was losing quality in episode 3 and up with the crappy ass cartoonishly evil villains, but I still had some hope and it was still somewhat enjoyable due to the good fighting scenes, but this anime ...
