Synopsis

Hellsing, an organization devoted to the elimination of the vampire threat, has recently uncovered information regarding the attempted production of "man-made" undead. The world is presently in the thick of WWII, and the current leader of Hellsing fears the Nazis could potentially use these creatures as front-line super-soldiers. Although the technology of creating artificial vampires is still in its infancy, it has advanced enough to be a serious threat. In an attempt to put a stop to this perverse and dangerous experimentation, Hellsing has sent two of its most skillful agents to Poland. A young man by the name of Walter C. Dornes - a.k.a. "The Angel of Death," and Alucard, an ancient vampire currently in forced service to the Hellsing Organization. Together, they attempt to stop the progress of the Nazi's efforts.

Hellsing: The Dawn is a prequel story taking place during WWII when Integra's Father was head of the Hellsing organization. The main character of the story is Walter C. Dornez in his youth when he's on a mission as the Angel of Death to take out millennium with Alucard accompanying him. There are well drawn action scenes and those little gag panels you've seen in the original manga.

Walter in his youth is a hot head that loses his temper, but he's a very skilled fighter. Alucard isn't as opposing in this series, which is fine this is more Walter's story.

This is only 6 chapters ...

To start with, it's a short series featuring some of the major characters in the original Hellsing manga. The story revolves around with Walter (in his youthful years), Integra's father and the Lieutenant. In does not show much of the plot but it presented the history upon the foundation of Hellsing Organization.

For an overall impression, I found the story incomplete since I only read the manga translation. The art and the characters is really good as it depicts their looks before time. To sum it up, if you got curious of what happened 50 years before (to get satisfied with the story), then read it. ...

Mixed Feelings
Hello, good evening!
It is a real shame, with the background and potential of the plot you could have built a good prequel, but instead we have something quite different from the original hellsing manga, and I mean especially the tone of the story where there is a greater use of comedy by super dark characters like the general or alucard and that makes it feel quite strange, I mean there was comedy in the original manga, but on the part of characters of a lighter nature, here the humor is weird.
I repeat, it is a shame that it has been cancelled.
But at least we ...
