Both are tear-jerkers and can literally get the best of your eyes. Both have great plot especially in the league of drama. Although Kimi no Na wa has more humorous content on the beginning, both will stab your heart and pierce through your mind with it's tear-jerking story and ending.

Both great movies with amazing animation and landscapes! With great characters, I really enjoyed both, especially Your name. "Your name." the movie is a bit more adventure and fantasy-based rather than a slice of life whereas the garden of words was more like a slice of life romance, both very enjoyable. Both romances were great stories in my opinion.

These two films are by the same director, and feature a specific style of artwork and cinematography that is recognizable in all of his works. Their narratives involve a set of protagonists whose love for each other is challenged by the distance between them.

Two Shinkai movies, while Kotonoha no Niwa is more realistic, Kimi no Na wa is more entertaining. Both give you the Shinkai-feeling.

They both have beautiful and calming animation. I'm pretty sure that the teacher in Kotonoha no Niwa was in Kimi no Na wa teaching.
