Kimi no Na wa.
Same director, similar theme of heartbreak, similar use of train metaphor of life going in different paths but always going onward. Both are beautiful artistically and I hold them both as my two favorite Makoto Shinkai films.

Kimi no Na wa, your name, is simply put the better version of Byousoku 5 Centimeter. Both anime deal with the same themes and similar story ideas, only in my opinion your name handles them in a more interesting and original manner. The art style, animation and music are fantastic all around in both anime and are very similar too.

Both are romance, and both have emotional drama. Although Kimi no Na wa is better, Byousoku 5 Centimeter is still worth watching.

Both are bittersweet romance films from director Makoto Shinkai with amazing aesthetics, that carry themes of separation and heartbreak. Kimi no Na wa differs with supernatural elements while Byousoku 5 Centimeter focus more on the relationships between characters. If your a fan of Makoto Shinkai or romance films you'll be sure to like these works.

This anime movie shares similarities. they are in its exploration of distance and separation, as well as the power of memories and emotions. The stunning visuals and beautiful soundtrack are also reminiscent of "Byousoku 5 Centimeter". Overall, "Kimi no Na Wa" is a touching and unforgettable love story that will leave a lasting impression on viewers.

"5 cm per second. The speed at which cherry blossom petals fall." It looks like Makoto Shinkai has directed another little minimalist masterpiece. Bearing a distant resemblance to underground coming-of-age classics such as Kimi no Na wa, 5 cm interweaves three short stories seen from the viewpoints of different characters. Each story revolves around a specific time period in the protagonist's life: his last days at primary school, graduating from high school, his early life as an adult.

You liked Your name? Then you have got to check out 5 centimeters per second! Beautiful, sad and irresistably melancholic, it's a classic that needs to be seen. P.S: DON'T WATCH IF YOU'RE IN A LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP!

If you cried in Kimi no Na wa and are looking to again, look no further than Byousoku 5 Centimeter. Both are directed by Makoto Shinkai, with 5 Centimeter as their first breakout movie. It is the spiritual predecessor to Your Name, addressing the similar themes of separation and searching. The bittersweet feels in each are second to none, and I highly encourage exploring all of the films of this world-class director.

Byousoku 5 Centimeter is a very similar movie to Kimi no Na wa, being wrote by the same person. It follows the same style of romance story as Kimi no Na wa, but without the body swapping. If you liked Kimi no Na wa you will most likely like this movie too.

Both directed by the brilliant mind of director Makoto Shinkai, Kimi No Na Wa and Byousoku 5 Centimeter share a lot of similarities. For some odd reason, both films feature beautiful space scenes with comets. Both films are about star-crossed lovers wanting to meet each other. The main characters have a strong bond, even when they live far away from each other. The endings of both films are beautiful. I definitely recommend Byousoku 5 Centimeter if you love Kimi No Na Wa
