Both Kimi no Na wa and Koe no Katachi are romantic films featuring young people who are on the cusp of adulthood. They are both emotionally moving with beautiful artwork and animation. Koe no Katachi doesn't have the same supernatural element that comes with Kimi no Na wa, but it has a similar impact. However, while Koe no Katachi is appropriate for adolescent viewers, it does deal with some severe bullying and darker themes that are absent in Kimi no Na wa, so if that is something that is difficult for you, you may want to avoid this film.

• Center around the insight into disabilities. • Similar personalities with main characters and side characters. • Similar pacing, environments and soundtracks. • Same sort of aesthetic features in the animation.

These are two anime films from 2015/2016 portraying school youth dealing with guilt, alienation, and most prolific — disabilities (being unable to speak and being deaf). Both are very high class, good stories dealing with a slice of life setting focusing on human interactions; like love, friendship, feelings towards self, and how they can vary depending on one's own mood.

Group of friends torn apart by some event that happens in their childhood. Both story are focus around the female lead that was unintentionally responsible for these events and follows the characters in their journey to fixing the relationship of the group

The female character completely changes the life of the male character in the story. Male characters change throughout the story from the beginning to the end of the movie. Sure, watching this movie will make you cry and change your view of seeing life, because the thread that separates life and death is questioned. Importantly, people can change the lives of others completely, and the animation shows it.

Very beautiful, personal stories of growth, self-discovery, and overcoming your past trauma. Top quality animation and art, fantastic directing, excellent soundtracks. These are two of the most personal feeling anime I have ever watched. Lots of great emotion and drama. If you want something to break and then fix your heart, these two are some of the best. Bring tissues.

Superficially, we get a melodrama on both shows with a male protagonist suffering from their internal conflicts and a heroine that becomes a catalyst for the protagonist to grow. But why I believe these two are very similar is due to sharing a similar thematic irony. In Koe no Katachi, the protagonist learns to "hear the world" from a deaf girl. Likewise, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso has a similar underlying theme as well. Moreover, the animation and OST on both animes are beautifully executed as well.

Both of these look heavily into self-loathing and self-discovery. They are, at their cores, stories about forgiving yourself and overcoming your own psychological weaknesses. They are about discovering what it is that you want to do in life and what your passions mean. Fantastic directing, art, animation, and style in both. Some of the best at setting a deeply reflective mood. Tons of good drama and character building as well.

Romantic shouji animes with the main characters being both deaf and shy. Both makes you understand what the deaf world is like

These two are very similar in the way that the mc wants to "save" or "help" a female character, in their childhood years. Koe no Katachi is more about regret and the mc is trying to make up for it, while Erased is just trying to prevent something from happening. There are no "fantasy" elements to Koe No Katachi however. Both are kind of about human bonds. KNK has a more emotional growth to it, while Erased it's just Satoru trying to fix his problem, but not necessarily becoming super close to the girl (they have moments but i wouldn't say theyre close.) Both are

Both female leads are using a notebook to communicate or making conversations to everyone. Komi, Shouko who is afraid to speak to everyone and Nishimiya, Shouko who is deaf so she can't speak nor hear anyone. (Both have the same name "Shouko") Komi, Shouko & Ishida, Shouya who has Communication Disorder, both of them are afraid of facing everyone nor talk to them. "Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu" is comedy, wholesome, and lighthearted. while "Koe no Katachi" talks about serious issues like anxiety, depression, suicide, and bullying which has more serious tones.

Both anime deal with the theme of suicide, as well as a male character being regretful of his hurtful actions towards a vulnerable female character.

- These anime are about the struggles the male MCs face as they grow up. - Both anime have 'regret' as one of the main themes. - If you felt like crying for one of these anime, then you'll most likely cry for the other one as well. - Both anime are in the world of slice of life. If you're a fan of this genre then you might like both as well.

These are two go-to movies if you want a good cry. Super good art direction, animation, color, etc. They both have very similar themes of self-discovery, of trying to venture into a world you are uncomfortable with, and trying your hardest to survive in mentally challenging situations. If you want to watch a movie with lots of heart, that were clearly passion projects, these two are fantastic.

Changing with hardships. Weathering With You and A Silent Voice follows MCs who wishes to change their lives for the better due to past experiences. Weathering With You follows Hodaka as a runaway going into Tokyo, struggling at first. A Silent Voice is the same though Shouya changes as he ages due to his past as a bully, struggling in the process. Both are great visual masterpieces with Weathering With You having supernatural, fantasy elements. Whilst A Silent Voice is a school drama about the change of a bully.

This Movie touch on a lot of relevant subjects with a different perspective than many other with the same type of message. It might feel a bit long sometimes and drags on, but it were no big issue for me. Like Garden of words (Kotono no Niwa) it is about a generally common subject, but both has likeable characters with their understanable way of dealing with trouble. Although they do not have similar artstyle, they still have similar way of pushing a subject out.

They both share a similar theme of having social angst and most importantly the struggle to communicate their individuality. They are both feel good movies.

Both involves depression, suicide, friendship and have beautiful, positive messages in other words it shows that mental illnesses are able to overcome it.

Both Tamako Love Story and Koe no Katachi are directed by Naoko Yamada and produced by Kyoto Animation. Direction styles are distinctively her own, with use of cinematographic techniques and use of flowers as metaphors and right choice of music enhancing the experience. Tamako Love Story has a straightforward story although depth is added by the heroine's deceased mother and heroine's friend Midori whose role I would not disclose here (watch the movie. It's a modern classic). In Koe no Katachi, the themes are more dark and serious and an important side character, Ueno, is voiced by the same voice actress who played Midori- and

Both Films have a similar vibe like repenting on there action from there past and befriending the person they trigger they're past mistake. Both Film are very good, kinda a tearjerker.

Both series tackle serious problems in society in relation to the growth, acceptance and reconciliation with peoples' pasts and how they change from it. Both also mention deep themes such as bullying and suicide.

The biggest similarity is probably the way they block people out. Mc here sees them as scare crows and the a silent voice MC sees them with X's over their faces. They also have pretty similar styles

Ishida and Legosi. Both MC males have committed a sin to a girl and they are both atoning for what they have done.

In both movies the female protagonist transferred to another school. In both movies after a few years pass they meet up again and hang out. The differences is the female isn't bullied, both protagonists don't try to kill each other like Koe no Katachi. Another difference is in 5 centimeters per second the male doesn't have problems with other people and has friends.

A Silent Voice and Mirai share a similar path in expressing hate of a character, only to understand them in their respective future together. A Silent Voice follows Ishida bullying deaf girl Shouko. Mirai follows a jealous Kun bullying his little sister Mirai due to her existence taking away his love from his parents. Both Ishida and Kun end up going through some shift in time to talk things through with the ones they have victimised. A Silent Voice does this via time skip, Mirai literally uses time travel. Both are good movies, which happen to be s.o.l, with good visuals all around.

-Common Elements: ->Both have a girl who can't communicate in a normal way and some romance with a troublesome boy. But in Senryuu Shoujo it's totally focused on comedy and the boy is genuinely a good person, while Koe no Katachi is an intense drama with the boy correcting his past mistakes. ->Both are slice of life anime, with some focus on school life.

It doesn't require a lot of insight to see how these two movies are related. Made by the same director under the same studio, Liz to Aoi Tori takes the same cinematographic and thematic themes from Koe no Katachi applied on to a different universe. Together with their characters they embark on a journey of acceptance and self-discovery. An award winning formula in which can only be best described as "if it isn't broken, then no need to try and fix it".

You would like Koe no Katachi if you liked Summer Ghost, it's both about a cruel reality that the main characters had to face during their teenage life

Animes that are based on self-discovery where main characters overcome the obstacles in their lives. Both have beautiful animation with characters who you can project yourself onto, bonding with their relatable experiences. Koe no Katachi is centred around the main character whilst Flavours of Youth is a collection of stories. If you enjoyed one of these two you'll be sure to enjoy the other.

Both have: - Beautiful Art. - About a love story. - Overcoming their personal identity. - Overcoming their personal indemnity of their past. - Creating meaningful friendship along the way. - Creative POV of the main characters how they see the world <3

While this may seem like a crazy recommendation at first glance, the two actually share quite similar themes and messages once you get to the end. They both deal with issues of life and death, self-loathing, regret, and trying to understand others. While Death Parade certainly focuses on it's style and aesthetic, which it has in spades, it never strays from the root message it is trying to convey. Koe no Katachi contains similar messages, mainly about the value of human life and what it means to connect to others. Both Death Parade and Koe no Katachi attempt to not only show the viewer the

Another "Kyoto Animation" work with good production values. In this one, while being a slice-of-life, there's an actual character progression, theme exploration, and the girls aren't moe blobs. The end was a bit rushed but as a whole, it didn't ruin the experience. Plus, I'm a fan of musicals and the music here is great
