However, the rest of the stories in the anthology can be more predictable, focusing mainly on the grotesque, disgusting and erotic. “Fraction” isn't for everyone, but for those interested in a unique and thought-provoking narrative experience, it's definitely worth exploring. It's a good option for mature readers who enjoy slow-paced, thought-provoking horror with a mix of dark mystery, graphic gore and a touch of twisted relief and ... dark comedy.

I really, really wanted to recommend this manga. Collections of horror stories within a shared universe, experienced by a single set of characters? Sign me up! I've been hungry since I finished 'You will hear the voice of the dead'.

I admire the creativity that goes into this series. No two 'part time job' or 'gray job' is the same. Each 'job' usually lasts around 3 chapters, so at 150 chapters, that's a lot of unique content! The art is for the most part consistent, and a bit unsettling (which it should be, being horror!) and the two protagonists are also pretty consistent in their ... characterisation.

That being said, there's something about this series that just misses the mark on a lot of occasions. Good horror makes me take that intake of breath when 'it' finally comes on page. It's the moment of 'oh sh*t' when whatever creature stares at you from the page. It's about the building of tension and the release. Ura Baito, while being incredibly creative, oftentimes does a terrible job at tension building. It's horror, but it doesn't send chills down your spine. It's not scary, just a bit disturbing. It's horror junk food. Not terrible, but not great.

My biggest gripe is the worldbuilding. Oftentimes, a lot of the jobs have too much of an implied lasting impact on the world. For example, a haunted doll will affect one family. An entire product line of cursed dolls, a commerical success, is a completely different level of impact. And that level of impact happens *regularly* in this series. And over and over again, nothing is resolved. There is no satisfaction, no closure. And while that's not entirely uncommon in horror, doing it over and over and over again in a single series, and in a shared universe at that? It's unsatisfying, it's testing my suspension of disbelief. How is anyone is this world alive? How does it operate? When will any of our characters see any growth? The answer is never. The implied apocalyse never happens. The downfall of humanity is put on permanent hold. Our characters never use anything they've learnt from a previous lesson. You could read any of these stories randomly, and it would affect almost nothing.

I stumbled on this manhwa while scrolling through social media.

I got hooked on the first chapter of this manhwa. I agree with eNagham I also couldn't sleep; it gave me chills. Also, because I really wanted to know how the story unfolds about the murder, I gave it a nine because some of the parts of the story were a drag, but overall it is a very good manhwa.

Art - 10/10
The emotions were depicted in the art, and it was eerie.

Character - 9/10
Every character was given a chance in the story. They also have their own spinoffs. I don't want to spoil, but ... if anyone would read this you will know why this is a nine.

I like how it was explained in the manhwa why the title is chasing tails. The author is considerate and gives some trigger warnings. I would recommend this to people who love mystery.

Frankly, I don't hate it! The biggest struggle with this series is that it's an extremely simple concept with a very shallow premise. Cute young boy likes handsome butler, lighthearted goofs ensue. It's very pleasant, mundane, with no fuss to be made.

The series shines due to the main boy, as his reactions and feelings guide the minimal amount of plot that exists. He just finds his butler handsome and wants to be noticed, and that's sweet. All of the situations are very low-stakes and generally cliché, so nothing here is really surprising. Just some light hearted character interactions. The art is also quite nice. The ... classic European styled manor-aesthetic works great. As the boy is the focal point of the story, he is well drawn, very expressive, and fun, constantly edging between a bratty boy and a blushy lad.

But the downfall here is that this story is stupidly simple. Unlike other titles of a similar length, even in the same genre, this one barely has anything tying it together beyond the premise. You have to either like the art, the aesthetic, the characters, or the or the relationship between the two leads, because nothing else is going to be inspiring enough to get too attached. The plot is less of a story and more of an idea to make sure the young lead is interacting with the appropriate characters. And although a few extra situations appear - like the appearance of a young girl, or a few side characters, and a few situations that require slightly more depth - they are still quite feeble. And because the story is so short, it's not given enough time to cook, instead rather a light blanching.

But that's okay. This is a one-shot by an indie artist, and it's still cute and fun. If you're shota trash - and I am some shota trash - you will probably find this cute and adorable. But if you see the concept from the blurb, and were hoping for something more dense, this is going to feel like Black Butler without the plot and on training wheels. Go in with muted expectations and try to enjoy this adorable little pair of dorks.

Manhwa adaptation that falls short of capturing the essence of the original Dororo series. While the artwork is commendable, the overall execution leaves much to be desired. As a fan of the original Dororo, I was initially excited to see how the story would unfold in a modern setting. However, the adaptation feels like a mockery of the original, with poor character development and a cliché plot reminiscent of typical power fantasy manhwas.

The altered storyline deviates too much from the original, resulting in a lack of true emotion in the characters. The characters' attitudes and behaviors come off as pathetic, and the overall tone of ... the manhwa feels like a ragtag power fantasy rather than a faithful adaptation. While I appreciate the attempt to try something new, "Dororo Re:Verse" simply isn't for me.

I would cautiously recommend "Dororo Re:Verse" to fans of the original series who are curious to see a modern adaptation. However, for those who hold the original in high regard, like myself, this adaptation may not meet expectations. Ultimately, while some may enjoy this new take on Dororo, it falls short of capturing the magic of the original.

i really enjoyed this manga! it's still ongoing, but i randomly stumbled across it on pinterest, and then binged the entire series in a day. i love the crazy dynamic between the female lead and the male lead, and the yandere qualities he has. also the action is cool and all, but it's so cute seeing the slice of life moments of the two main characters or the differences between them because one is from osaka and one is from tokyo. also, i like this one much more than firefly wedding, which i think is a similar manga, but this one has more meat and ... character development to it

A very nice and well-paced story of the relationship between a prince and a mermaid, the truth I was surprised how little the mangaka holds back, to be able to advance the relationship with respect to other stories I've already read.

Also, it stands out that the main characters, and some secondary characters, are not one-dimensional, they have a certain level of depth, especially for the couple. In addition, this one continued to deepen (chapter 46, this is the last chapter that came out as of the date of this review).

The art, how to say, is a 9/10, not afraid like other stories to generate detailed ... backgrounds and the most colorful and cute characters, both male and female. The mermaid is a beauty.

But, most importantly, this manga makes you feel emotions.

This is my first review, the truth is this manga needs more popularity, the mangaka deserves it, that's why he decides to write a review.

This manga is a masterpiece, no doubt about it, and pushed me to write my first ever review. I will keep my review more general as to not spoil the story as I want everyone to go into this manga with an open mind.

Many of the romance manga I have read have felt, to put it simply, fake.
However, for this manga, reading how each character carried themselves, consistently, and realistically was what kept me interested and constantly admiring the authors craft. My favourite example of the authors storytelling is the balance between keeping the reader in the dark about some of the characters emotions. ... That might sound like every romance manga ever, but this one executes it brilliantly, as it also executes other trends in romance manga perfectly. One of the factors that may stop one from reading this may be the intertwined sports theme; however, I will say that not only does the sport theme NOT distract from the romance, but they both compliment each other beautifully.

I also want to mention the cast of side characters. Some of I do want to see more, but they all have roles to play and are all impactful to the main cast and the story (justice for Hina!).

Story: 10/10

The gentle and warm art style is perfect for a romance, yet when the sports scenes appear, the art style shifts to a fast paced and more rugged feel, which I absolutely adore. Some manga have a brilliant story yet lacklustre art, and others vice-versa, but this one is not one of them.

To be honest, I started reading this manga 1 year ago but dropped it after 3 chapters. However I plead with whoever reads this to give it a try and to not drop it like I did. This is one of the best if not the best romance manga I have ever read.

This book is a masterpiece.
Sui's philosophies are dripping throughout, with compelling and believable characters and intriguing narratives.
Ken is a protagonist who is easy to root for. He isn't perfect and doesn't fit into any of the too-common tropes in many mangas out there. This story is the journey of how he finds happiness in a cruel world.
I disagree with many people saying that the ending was too rushed. In fact, I am very glad that Sui didn't drag out the story with more subplots.
The idea that connection is what drives us, and choice is a gift, is beautiful.

The manga has an interesting start, but any interest fades away too early. Everything becomes repetitive and senseless. A massive suspension of disbelief is required to accept anything in this work.
I couldn't notice any sign of character development, which only made the work more unbearable.

I believe this work is a waste of time. Anything positive about it is easily overshadowed by the dull and forced storyline. Apparently, the mangaka wanted to delve into a story of romance, slice of life, comedy, betrayal, incest, and harem, but couldn't quite decide where to focus. They superficially incorporated all the elements and ended up making this unpleasant milkshake.

I adore short stories like these. Seemingly mundane, daily scenes with a touch of melancholy...and then - a twist. Each of these six stories follows this formula, and most of them succeed in pretty much perfecting it.

Here's my personal rating of each of the stories:

#1 Shiki no Zenjitsu: 8/10 Intimate, unexpected, serene in a very particular way. An emotional opener that fulfills its role perfectly.

#2 Azusa 2-Gou: 10/10. This one tugged on my heartstrings hard, so much brevity and emotion in so few panels. Easily one of the best short stories I've read in a while - both in manga, and in literature.

#3 Monochrome no ... Kyoudai: 9/10. Masterful approach towards reminiscence and a very, very pleasant flow of the dialogue. Touching in a bittersweet way.

#4-5 Yumemiru Kakashi: 8/10 This is the only story that takes up two 'chapters'. Interesting characters and a rather rare (for a manga) setting. However, I feel the story lacked something.

#5 10-gatsu no Hakoniwa: 6.5/10 The least interesting out of the bunch. A bit of a cliched story, and lacked the emotional punch or depth, to be honest. Still a pleasant read.

#6 Sorekara: 7/10 Were it not for giving us a glimpse into how #1 goes on, it would've been a 6/10. However, I feel that using the cat soliloquy paired up with the atmosphere is a very nice closure to this collection.

As far as the art goes, throughout it's rather nice. There ARE some characters that look slightly similar (especially men). However, many mangaka do this anyways. This particular art style is very fitting for the nostalgic mood present in all the stories.

In short: read this. It doesn't take much time, and the intensity of the emotions/stories is easily on par with a lot of long-running series. Great work. 8/10

Fetish is a collection of disturbing individual short stories, most of which I liked. While reading, you can sense the atmosphere of the panels, evoking feelings of impending doom, misery, or curiosity. Initially, you might not perceive these emotions at a glance, but upon closer examination, they become palpable.

The illustrations in this manga are remarkably sentimental and artistic, effectively conveying the dark emotions of human beings. Each story delves into the depths of the human psyche.

In terms of content, Love Letter struck me as the weakest story. Despite its brevity, "Airport" surprises with its depth and impact compared to Love Letter. Our Vast Loneliness stands ... out as a depressing yet compelling narrative, seemingly drawn from real-life experiences.

Sully/Lily shares similarities with "Our Vast Loneliness" but adds a twist by incorporating elements from the overarching theme of the "Fetish" story. While it features an intriguing main character that keeps readers engaged, it may not evoke the same emotional depth as "Our Vast Loneliness" or focus entirely on fetishism like Fetish. Instead, "Sully/Lily" predominantly narrates themes of obsession and sadism.

The final story, "Fetish," as the title suggests, narrates fetishism, portraying the main character's fetish in a creepy yet fitting manner for the manga.

Each story invites contemplation through its sentimental illustrations and narrative progression. Whether you empathize with the characters or harbor suspicions about them largely depends on your perspective.

Overall, Fetish offers an intriguing read, particularly for fans of psychological thrillers and mysteries centered around the darker aspects of human nature. While it may not be the best manga in this genre, it holds its own as a compelling and thought-provoking work.

This is just pedophilia. Love is war was made and it was fucking brilliant. Also very refreshing since it's a manga that spends a lot of time talking about love and romance AND it doesn't have any, "uwu come lust at this 17 year old" combined with an upskirt panty shot. Then I saw they made this. The FIRST PAGE is CHIKA'S ASS (She's 17) what the fuck. To all yall that gave this a positive review you're either 14 or a pedophile. You know manga is my favorite medium of artistic expression and with every year that goes ... by this shit just makes me angrier and angrier.

Well I just want to say that why haven't anyone been talking about this ?
To be honest it really is an exceptional Manhwa that I randomly stumbled upon. Considering the character writing of manhwa characters I gotta say this really has some relatable characters, nothing is overly dramatic for the sake of being dramatic like other manhwas which is a huge thing. But there were plot points which could've expanded further upon and the characters sometimes felt a bit wack. Though it did deliver the story's message perfectly when it needed to it would've been a lot better if the character's ambitions and ideology were ... further expanded upon.
Also the story's ending felt a bit abrupt and it seemed as if the artist just wanted to end the manhwa asap it might have something to do with the original novel but I wouldn't know.
Overall it's a solid read. Manhwas haven't even come close to master storytelling as Mangas but it's some hidden gems like these that gives us hope that eventually it would even be compared to storytelling of mangas.
I would have rated it 7 but seeing as I rated Solo leveling 7.... I don't think I would be doing justice to this manhwa.

Additionally, the artwork, which starts off decently, deteriorates noticeably as the manhwa progresses, detracting from the overall reading experience.

The plot suffers from numerous plot holes and unexplored storylines, leaving readers feeling unsatisfied and confused. These kinds of "reincarnating/transmigrating into a novel/game as a child character and I'm doomed if I don't change the original plot" stories usually have a critical flaw, and that is whenever the "original story" has changed for whatever reason the main character would still be in denial that the story has changed enough despite OBVIOUS signs that whatever it is they're worried about will not happen. The story changing is not the issue, the issue is either the main character is worried for nothing OR it is made too obvious to the readers that their worries are unwarranted.
Now why did I opened my review with ... this? Because I am happy to tell you that [The Archvillain's Daughter-In-Law/I Became the Daughter-in-Law of the Villain Because I'm Terminally Ill], for the most part, doesn't have this issue.

What stands out to me about this series compared to others of it's ilk, is the fact that even after 2 seasons in, I still have no idea whether the title character "villain" will stop his plans or not despite all the changes the heroine has made; the "original story" is no more, but even then this man have good reasons to stay on course (I can't explain without spoiling, but I assure you it makes sense). Thereby all her worrying and entertaining antics are warranted, because for all she and we the readers know, she is not in the clear just yet.

There's plenty of other things to enjoy from this manhwa:
- The female lead is refreshingly not your typical goody two-shoes, nor is she a vengeance fueled villainess, nor was she abused in her previous life, nor is she unapologetically malicious and evil (okay maybe a teeny tiny bit of the last one); Laria is charmingly balanced, she helps or manipulate people when it's to her benefit yet at the same time to others' benefit, she smartly drew a line early in her futile attempt to prevent raising a flag with the male lead, and her shenanigans often results in comedic outcomes.
- The art is really cute. I'm spoiling a bit but there's a touching scene after a timeskip that mirrors an event early in the story, and I'm a sucker for those kinds of panel.
- The comedy is a tad hit or miss, but if it's a hit for you then generally it will be entertaining.
- The story itself is pretty compelling, especially the duke's motives and backstory. Unfortunately if you're looking for the typical doting father archetype usually found within these sort of manhwa, you won't really get one here.
Little duke and his wife's relationship are endearing and mostly heartwarming, you can't help but to root for this poor boy who knew nothing about what's going on between his father and Laria.

This is a good and enjoyable series, especially for fans of the kind of stories I mentioned in the beginning, would recommend.

I have no words for drawings. But the course of the fiction has become so terrible that there is no way it can recover from here. Always kill someone, create a new character, add new power, revive them when you get into trouble... This is not how it works. Fantasy fiction also has its own logic. The author should have followed Yu Yu Hakushou and Naruto more carefully. Because he got most things from those, but it didn't work. It isn't. It will probably end up disgusting. A total disaster and disappointment...

I really missing first chapters. I know the story was not original, I know ... there are too many mistases in this story but i loved so much Geto, Gojo, Yuta, Inumaki... And cause off that i wanted to read just a normally, sadly, funny story. But all i have this is. I really mad about that. But... What can i do? The story became this.

Is there really no one out there who feels the same way as me? Why is everyone so happy and satisfied with the fiction? I feel very sad and lonely.

This manga covers the story of a shy and gauche teenager and the people around her as she tries her absolute best to make friends. Not unseen of a premise but a premise which is usually done decently well, and this too, becomes an example of that notion.

A tale which felt satisfactorily calm and replenishing. It was able to maintain its uplifting mood well enough throughout. It adopts a decent stance towards the socially awkward aspect used, with the relationship between various characters having a tinge of realism in it. It had its instances of relatable moments, with any event happening toned down to touch ... the ground of reality. A pretty modest way of story telling which obviously resulted in the slice of life theme surfacing much more than the others. Romance was pretty lacking and I believe the author wasn't aiming for that approach too. Small moments of yuri bait but I can ignore that.

Art also dons the uplifting aura as it is just plain and simple where you don't have to search for any detail. About the character, apart from the MC and the Café couple, they were average. I didn't get as much invested in the brother's pov as I got into the sister's and the romantic dynamic of the café couple made them stand out a little bit from the others for me.

The only downside I wanted to highlight is that we should have gotten some more chapters to give it a better closure than it currently has. It ended just when it was about picking up its pace. The end came of as sudden and disappointing in some ways. But it didn't take away much when it came to the overall enjoyment of the manga.

Honestly? It's not bad, but I expected way more.

I bought this manga because the synopsis was amazingly interesting, and the art style was beautiful. In the end, the art style is amazing and, in fact, really beautiful, but the story is weak.

Everything gets too confusing, and the explanations are not great; they just give you this "oh, ok" feeling, where only one revelation was actually great. I believe that it was somehow hushed for a one-shot, giving too much information for not enough pages when the story could be more simple. Some dialogs and monologs feel out of place (maybe the translation wasn't too ... accurate).

I would still give it a try. The world-building is basic but manages to be good, and the characters have potential. Again, the art style is amazing, beautiful, and definitely nice to look at. Just don't expect the story to be as cool as it looks.

tl;dr: An ecchi rom-com with a really solid final stretch but absurdly repetitive and slow moving before that.

This manga is about a guy named Manabu that is working hard towards his goal of being accepted into Tokyo University. However, his childhood friend, Megumi, is constantly distracting him. Mainly due to how she is constantly inadvertently showing more skin than she should. The problem with this premise, is that it starts out with both of them in their first year of high school. College entrance exams aren’t until third year, however Manabu is solely focused on passing the Tokyo University entrance exam from the beginning of ... the manga. Thus, he doesn’t join any club or much any of the standard high school stuff. And him being so focused on studying so early on results in him not being able to make friends either. There’s somewhat of a plot thread involving him seeming to have a crush on a girl that goes to another school named Mikawa, but its completely and utterly pointless and ultimately goes nowhere.

On the flip side, Megumi is the star rookie of the kendo club and over the course of the manga she starts taking kendo even more seriously, with the ultimate goal of trying to get into a good college through kendo. However, there too what matters most is her performance in her final year of high school, and thus the earlier tournaments don’t feel anywhere near as high stakes. Earlier on in the manga there is somewhat of a focus on actual kendo itself, but as a kendo manga it really just isn’t very good at all. Thus, as the manga progresses it shifts to skipping over the actual kendo and just focusing on the results. Megumi is much more social than Manabu so she has a pretty wide circle of friends, but none of them are all that interesting. There are lots of side characters that have a reoccurring presence, but none of them are fleshed out enough to really care about them.

As a result of not much serious happening, the period of the manga that covers the first two years of high school is essentially just really slow slice of life. It’s basically just a series of comedic shorts, the vast majority of which are ecchi focused. The ecchi isn’t all that good though to be honest. It’s very dense, but it’s really basic. There’s nothing particularly unique or interesting. It’s basically just Megumi not being good at keeping her clothes in mind and thus constantly getting into positions that show her underwear or something like that. It’s really repetitive and not all that fun. There are some heartwarming moments or especially funny moments here and there, and there is some character and relationship development from time to time. But this phase of the manga lasts about twenty volumes, so the good parts feel like drops in an ocean. It’s enough to build investment in Manabu, Megumi, and their relationship, but overall it’s just way too tedious and dull.

The manga goes through a major shift when they move into their third year. Manabu starts going to cram school and actually makes friends. Both of whom are well developed, interesting, and likable characters in their own right, especially Yukino. Megumi becomes the captain of the kendo club and starts taking kendo really seriously. Furthermore, one of her friends, Mio, takes much more a spotlight and turns out to be way more of a fun character than she had been before this. The stakes are high because this will be the year that decides their futures. But on top of that their relationship also comes to a head with a good amount of drama. The payoff is great and pretty thoughtfully written, and thus I would say I was pretty satisfied with the ending. I’m pretty conflicted over whether slogging through the entire manga was worth it however.

The art is somewhat mediocre at first but gets significantly better over time. The later color art is downright fantastic, but a lot of it isn’t included in the scanlations so I recommend looking it up on a booru or something. The mangaka uses minimalist eyes on everyone which is pretty unique as far as manga goes and took some getting used to but ultimately I think it worked well enough. Design wise Megumi and Yukino have great designs. Mio is pretty solid as well. Beyond that everyone has a distinct enough design that they’re easy to identify but none of them are particularly memorable.

Don't toy with me miss Nagatoro starts off somewhat generic and displays certain topics, such as teasing/bullying, in a way that readers might consider 'in poor taste'. After this initial period the series quickly evolves, gaining several layers of depth and sustenance, blooming into an amazing manga.

Plot (9/10)
The story revolves around the two main characters, Nagatoro and Senpai/Nao. It has a natural flow and doesn't feel forced with the story progressing at a realistic pace which nourishes the reader's understanding of the characters. The plot is well maintained and isn't stretched thin, it grabs hold of your attention and doesn't let go.

Art (8/10)
The art ... isn't over the top but it fits the story nicely, it does improve over the course of the manga to a more consistent style with a higher quality and level of detail.

Characters (9/10)
The two main characters are the heart and soul of the story and it is mainly these two that are developed and nurtured. The side characters are still likeable and relevant in the story but the two main characters are definitely the driving force, much like many other series. The two main characters are well written and show realistic growth in the story, with them both reacting to situations and overcoming obstacles in ways that you would expect teenagers to. Its refreshing as these two are both unique and break free of character archetypes that heavily saturate modern manga.

Pacing (9/10)
The pacing starts fast at the beginning while still being easily absorbed and begins to slow down a touch to a more comfortable speed, still retaining the reader's attention with every chapter. This comfortable pace is maintained throughout the series, allowing the plot to progress more naturally.

Negatives -
The topic of teasing/bullying could have been handled better at the start of the series, as it leans more towards bullying rather than playful teasing, which could put off readers to read further into the story. The side characters could also be more developed and fleshed out, however I personally don't think that this affects the overall score.

Hey, huge Angel Beats! fan here, even if the anime was the only content that I consumed. Dunno what to think about this one as someone who only watched the anime, tbh. It is cool that new stuff is being put out in 2023, all these years later. I just do not fully understand where this is supposed to be headed and question some of the character choices.
It feels endearing and wholesome but at the same time there is this weird tone being set early on that is, to me who is anime only, weird and slightly uncomfortable.. is what I'd describe it as.

6 chapters ... in and I can say: chapters 2, 3.1 and 5.2 were not fun at all to me or atleast parts of how they played out and mostly ended. It felt a bit too much on the shoujo front. Again, anime only, Takeyama and Takamatsu were pretty different characters from how I knew them apart from that one major quirk they had. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily. But how their relationship with Tenshi is rushed in these short ~19page chapters to have them end up just randomly full on falling in love with her had me shake my head IRL, not gonna lie. Would've liked something more friendship-funish.
This manga has these wholesome and fun-comedic/out there humor moments just like the original but I am actually dreading other male cast members being introduced right now. There clearly is no chance but with how they both acted and how Tenshi is portrayed in this, it felt like the usual setup to a reverse-harem, lmao.
I just really didn't like the subliminal vibes in these chapters. Did she need to instantly get princess carried by Matsushita after meeting? (I know about Hinako atleast and this chapter had no real romantic implications unlike ch2 and 5.2, still..)
This all just sets a, for me personally, slightly dangerous/brittle precedence of characters being reintroduced to be ever so different even if otherwise quite similar. It isn't end all level at all, I just hope that these two instances, in 3 chapters mind you, were the only ones.

I am looking forward to meeting some of my fave characters from the series and hope that they will all get some time to shine- not that this isn't the case in the first 6 chapters, I just think that how some of the more serious stuff was handled is not the way to go (6th time, anime only.. correct me if this actually is a reverse harem and I just never knew about it, lmfao).
I did have a laugh every now and then, btw. The absolutely out there random comedy feels like true Angel Beats! to me. Love it.

I'm writing this review because I feel the other reviews are doing this manga a disservice. Yes it is an isekai manga and yes it is a baseball manga but I believe it's the best blend of the two possible.
Imagine a fantasy world where every game of baseball is a life and death struggle with everything on the line, where different races make use of their natural abilities to take everything from their enemies on the field: beastmen with overwhelming speed, demons with monstrous physical prowess and dragonkin with impossible visual acuity. If you were to summon a hero to this world you'd need ... the best of the best, and that's exactly who our protagonist is: a one in a million talent who has dedicated his life to baseball is dragged to this world by God with the goal of winning and returning home, he has to pit modern baseball techniques against the residents of his new world.
The art is top tier, the characters feel alive and if you let the story do its thing without prejudice you'll get a nice, entertaining read to keep you busy for a while. It's no Vagabond but it isn't trying to be, it's just a story about a guy who loves baseball sharing it with those around him.

I stopped at chapter 8 but i can say ive seen enough. Bro what did i just read? a highschool girl pegging a dude but WITHOUT the god. Cmon bro this was sooo weird, it must be for people with a very specific fetish bc this shit had zero plot. They had no chemistry. The boy was getting assaulted most of the time. As a whole, this series is genuinely horrible.

If you turn your brain off you can maybe get through the first few dozen chapters with some mild enjoyment. It's a revenge fantasy with a semi-interesting opening, and one that doesn't pull back from the violence or killing. It does have some questionable theming in the way that it unironically advocates for what is essentially a school shooter's fantasy and twists the world to make the MC seem justified while committing horrific acts of violence that result in millions of dollars of property damage and the deaths of several innocents, but if you turn your brain-off ... and aren't sensitive to that stuff you can somewhat ignore it.

It becomes a lot harder to ignore, however, when it goes on for 70 more chapters with absolutely no depth, challenge, or interesting characters added. It's quite literally revenge porn—no substance, no themes, and absolutely no thought given to a wider narrative.

It's bad. And, while I do admit the first few chapters and everything up to the first big bout of revenge can be brainlessly enjoyable, as a whole the series is so offensively bad and has such horrific themes that I don't feel generous enough to even give it a 2.

Very good read, often gets you all the way.

Story nobody cares about story/10, if you came to read this your not reading for the story. There are frequent sex scence, often 2 per chapter, the story, very generic with much daughter and mother tension. Mc can be chad in certain situations but is mostly a mid character (not total loser like many other harems)

Characters 9/10 once again I’m not going to talk about the depth or emotions of the characters but rather their designs. The ... blushing is the best any fiction has given me, also the ahegao is pretty hot. Coming back to the blushing, alone it's already orgasm worthy, but tied with the whole package it's a piece of fiction created by god himself; the characters just look SO good in heat, especially main girls mom. Chae Yubin best girl in entire series, she's smart, goes to prestigous university, looks like a tomboy (tomboy's are best)

Wasted potential :( The first 12 volumes are fantastic. Tomoko is such a popular character because she's relatable, duh. But on top of that, to see such an unabashedly disgusting loser painted so earnestly was really refreshing. Much of the comedy came from the misunderstandings and awkward situations she would find herself in, giving the manga endless fuel to create comedic situations. You felt for her as she navigated through this world while clearly suffering from mental illness. It had a simultaneously tragic and comedic tone while never compromising one over the other.

Sadly, the manga loses serious steam around 12 volumes in. The story ... arc was always going to be about Tomoko making friends and coming out of her shell. I looked forward to it. But it happens way too fast. It feels like the authors dumped a dozen characters into the story who are all weirdly obsessed with being her friends; it doesn't feel organic at all. But much worse is that Tomoko just becomes an entirely different person. She goes from a tragic, cute, and unpredictable mess that feels like she may never be able to fit into society to a pretty bland protagonist that will sometimes get shy or say something vulgar. Again, I must emphasize that the issue is not that Tomoko changed. It's that it happened far too early and unorganically in the story.

The manga has transformed from being a tonally unique story, with an engaging protagonist with equally hilarious gags and painfully uncomfortable situations, to a sllightly above-average slice-of-life manga focused on melo-drama. The characters are likeable enough, but I've decided to drop the manga because I can't get over that tinge of disappointment when I remember how good it the manga used to be.

This manga is not completely dogpoop, but it feels extremely pretentious and tries to show how life can be depressing and it's all pessimistic, but instead the stories only cause you to raise an eyebrow and be like "oh I guess that happens, whatever".

Ch.1 talks about cheating and how marriage life is not always happy, it feels very eh and it even feels like it endorses cheating in a way (the girl always lacked love and found herself love upon being rejected by a guy during a cheating moment or whatever). It's very boring and unless you like cheating, it'll probably be just a miss ... and leave you with a straight face.

Ch.2 is one of the more interesting ones because it deals with masturbation/porn addiction and attention-seeking behavior. However, I'll point out that even though the story has a good theme, it completely flops with its resolution because, again, the story is trying to have a pessimistic approach with life and although it might be realistic in some way or another, it still doesn't really leave me satisfied, even though negative endings can be done quite well. Both protagonists had a very traumatic experience with one another (a guy and a girl) sexually related and in the end, it just shows how the girl moved on from it, whilst the guy became even more of a porn addict and also an incel. I wouldn't really mind that, but I think such topics had more potential to be discussed and mainly considering how the story was going for. The ending felt like a turn-off. EDIT: I'd like to add, maybe I'm being biased here, but because I've experienced being a porn addict, it's quite sad to see this theme never get the importance it has (unless it's some influencer trying to gain a following from men). It'd be cool if they had developed the characters together and going through their problems.

Ch.3 is another one with cheating-related things, but instead it talks about p3d0 and sexual development of girls. It is kind of interesting, as it tries to approach how the girl views sex and family, having an abuser satisfy her sexually, but being an abuser, and a boyfriend who treats her right, but doesn't really give her the satisfaction in sex and doesn't yet want to have a family. The story develops rather quickly with the professor being reported and whatever, but the ending also feels non-sensical as it contradicts all that we had read before.

Ch. 4 this one is kinda cool, it deals with young girls being models for adult magazines and how they deal with it. The girl meets a guy who swears to not see the content and that he loves her for herself. However, as the manga progresses, it tries to show how some people are so devoid of personality that they become some "pavlov dog" that reacts to keywords and all turns mostly well in the end. It shows a bit again the attention seeking behavior from some girls, but I liked a bit this one, as it felt sweeter than the rest.

Ch. 5 maybe I'm some low IQed person because I didn't understand anything at all on this one. I'm p sure it has something to do with symbolism of flowers and also with how people deal with loss, however I have no idea how the two MCs relationship really matter. One of them went to have a sex life and died??? I didn't really understand the point of it, it is the worst one in my opinion (again, maybe because I'm stupid).

Ch. 6 it's an isekai parody where the girl is trying to be with the mc, but in every universe she ends up getting rejected (the guy is on an eternal loophole of being isekai'd). I don't really know how to rate this, it just exists.

Ch. 7 it's one of the cooler ones as well, except that the idolatry point they were trying to criticize ends up being right? I think maybe it's because of how twisted and devoid of personality the girl is, but it's still pretty interesting nonetheless, as it goes a bit away from the darker pretentious pessimistic points and goes for a more interesting topic to discuss.

I really love this artist's art style and the reason I came to read this was not only because it's hers, but also because I saw a picture of chapter 2 on social media and wanted to check it out. Overall, it's a really pretentious and pesismistic story that most of the time doesn't achieve a point to actually make the reader reflect on the topic they wanted to criticize/point out.

Before writing a review about this opera it is absolutely necessary to make extremely clear that Darling in the FranXX is an ORIGINAL ANIME SERIE.

This means that the anime came first, and I strongly advise to watch that first and then, if you really must, read the manga.

The anime did have a rushed and somewhat confusing and arguably meh ending. Which is why the manga came out and many people end up reading it after the disappointment of the anime, but the truth is that not only the manga is worse in every aspect (starting with the excess of really not needed fanservice).

The biggest problem ... with the manga is that it COMPLETELY MISS THE WHOLE POINT of the anime.

Darling in the FranXX is a brilliant work that bring a lot to think about about how society is evolving and a BIG take on transhumanism all the way up to getting tangled to other kind of extraterrestrial entities which I won't mention more for spoiler reasons.

Now the anime ends up addressing and making tha point that it took over 20 episodes to try to make, although in a rushed and dubious way. The manga basically wipes everything out and take an easy way out.

All the way to the point of completely swapping out the main villain!

If the anime is a serie that tries to bring some ethical questions about what's to come in our society both in a civil and spiritual way the manga is a battle shonen with absolutely no point.

I was expecting a chance to read something that expands on the rushed ending and of the plot points of the original anime work but what i find is a manga that trivialise and throws away all the interesting plot points and rewrites the whole thing in a pointless mecha battle thing with zero depth.

Honestly just watch the anime and take it as it is. I feel like all the people complaining about the ending completely missed the point of it. Sure it felt rushed and it could have been excecuted way better but at least it had some context

This is one of the most disappointing manga I've ever read.

Because it has so much potential! It starts very strong. Great characters, interesting and intriguing world you get suddenly thrown in and there is just much going on. The story starts to unfold and then...

Everything goes down the drain. EVERYTHING.

The plot points that were interesting get completely abandoned. Every questions you started to build up stays unanswered. Evil guys come and go out of nowhere for no reason. The most interesting character that literally gives the name to the serie (Akame) gets benched and only comes up when she's needed to bring out some new ... antagonist or to throw a bone to the reader.

It completely feels like exactly half way the author lost interest in the opera and/or didn't know what to do with it and just winged EVERYTHING. Love interests with zero grounds just because, an ending that full on transitions to a completely different scale with no need of it.

I would give it a lower score if not for one of the most convoluted and well written villains in manga history that is Esdeath. In a way the manga is worth reading just for her.

I really like Kindergarten Wars. It's an unapologetically silly comedy that consistently manages to be fun and make me laugh. A lot of the running gags, although extremely similar in setup and execution, are played JUST differently enough each time that it never feels stale. I'm

The characters are all fun and likable and have sympathetic backstories that do a good job at making you root for them. The story, in all honesty, is pretty basic but a series like this doesn't really need some super complex plot or anything. That being said, there have definitely been some lorebait hints of something deeper going on ... in terms of plot, but overall the series typically keeps its focus on "assassin kindergarten teachers fighting wacky assassins."

But what really makes this series stand out in my eyes is how, in between all the over the top comedy, it's VERY good at making you emotional when you least expect it. I'm gonna be vague about this so as to not spoil anything, but there was a string of chapters recently that actually made me cry, and I don't exactly cry easily from fiction (If you're caught up with this series, you know what I'm referring to here). Again, Kindergarten Wars IS a silly comedy, but part of what makes the series so good in my opinion is that it knows how to use the overall silly tone as a foundation to juxtapose darker, more tear-jerking moments. Both the silly comedy and the darker moments stand out due to juxtaposing each other, which I'm honestly all for.

So overall, really solid manga. I think out of all the "Assassin/spy SoL" series right now (I think that can be considered a subgenre at this point lol), this one is definitely my favorite. I recommend giving this one a try if you haven't.

This for me is one of the best sports manga/manhwa that I have read, though it is true that I haven't read much. I thoroughly enjoyed it throughout its run and I was honestly quite devastated that it got axed, though I guess I appreciate that they didn't continue it with a downgrade in art style or any decrease in quality which is happening to quite a bit of manhwa as of recent.

Plot:
The story starts off for me quite slow as I am more used to action packed shit. Though the momentum quickly picks up as the mc's motivation and drive continues to develop ... with him. In my opinion the conflict itself is quite lackluster as we don't really get to see the mc struggle much (his conflicts continuously gets resolved one by one without much effort by him). What the story lacked in the conflict was carried by the interesting progression in story as he slowly got better and we see how the world around him is affected with his rise.

The story doesn't really complete itself as from what I hear it got axed. Though thankfully it was able to complete or at least led to the next step some of its thematic setups. So, the ending though not completely satisfying is a point in which the story could end as it did make a sort of goodbye wrap up moment.

Characters:
This for me is what absolutely cements this story as one of my favorites. The characters are all interesting and memorable which I guess is also influenced by the artstyle (which I will touch upon again later). Even less essential characters like some reoccurring fans are quite memorable due to how they are used effectively to display the audience's perception of the players. The reporters are also given some character as they are given reasons for the audience to hate or like them. Even the minor supporting characters are also built upon quite well as they are easily distinguishable from how they look and act which I feel like increases the realism feel of the story.

Moving on to the main supporting cast they are built upon very well in my opinion though with some aspects that I wished could be done better. The main rival for example was only prominent in the beginning of the story and I guess needed to take a back seat to show off the other side 'villains' though I would have enjoyed a greater sense of rivalry between them. The love interest though quite cliche, is not annoying. Often times the stupid cliche love interest usually becomes annoying as they make stupid conflicts for the mc, which does not happen here which I enjoy.

The main cast which not really spoiler but is the mc and ghost is such a fun duo. Individually the mc is actually quite boring as he basically always gets what he needs like luck is legit his skill. He is of course fun due to his high energy and confidence which always brings hype to the story. Their dynamic though is legit really good. You could actually feel a sense of a real relationship between them like a mentor and a mentee. Even though Kim Jinho likes to tease and annoy the mc, he still acts like a genuinely good mentor offering good advice and motivation when mc most needs it. And even though mc teases kim jinho and likes to ignore his naggings truly looks up to him and wants to be like him.

Art:
The art is really really good as it gives so much hype for this manhwa. It makes baseball look cool as fuck and I personally think baseball is such a boring sport. When the mc throws a pitch the art makes excited as it feels very dynamic. When the ball gets hit by the baseball bat or when it is caught you can actually feel it even though it is just a picture. The artstyle is able to very clearly demonstrate to us the audience the expressions of all the characters including all the intense and hype moments.

Overall:
It is such a great story in my opinion even though it ends abruptly I thoroughly enjoyed its run. I actually felt depressed for a bit because it ended how it ended ,since it ended how most manhwa would be like a season end. We just opened up to a new world but it was the end of the story sadly. I love it and really recommend it for anyone really as it is just genuinely a fun read.

I started this manga thinking it would be a very generic slop, but I've found taking chances on Mangas can actually lead to finding a new favourite. And honestly that's exactly what happened here.

I initally read it becasue the premise made me curious what the hell it'd be about and it is exactly what it says, and somehow it's really good.

The writing is really good (mostly, I'll get to that) and dialgoue flows naturally in 99% of scenes, which makes seeing the relationship between Prez and Sora grow really fun to read because they're both likeable believable characters. However, the reason I say ... the wiritng is mostly good is because when a key plot point needs to be brought up in a chapter, whatever it may be I find 99% of the time it feels really awkard. Like if a character mentions their past it feels kinda awkardly brought up, or when a topic of conversation turns to another character or whatever. It's kinda hard to write out what exactly but if you read it you will understand. I don't mind that much because the rest of the manga is really well written, but it seems the author kinda struggles at making conversations flow naturally to bring something up or whatever.

The art is amazing and defintley has alot of effort put into it, like it's REALLY good.

It's just a really funny manga, with a actuall sweet central romance and dialgoue. The MC (Sora) is fun to watch and he's just well written, which he does initally come off as just generic guy who is nice to everyone but he has surpising depth.

Other complaints I have is that side characters like the girl Sora has a crush on (forgot her name woops) is kinda boring, she's not a bad character I just kinda don't like her I suppose. Also a big issues I feel this manga has is trying to have more potential love interests, which I just don't get why they would, It's very clear what the main couple is and the manga doesn't even pretend to hide it. The potential love interest side of characters as well isn't even a focus so it just feels unnescarry honestly. And this isn't really a complaint and more of a personal preference but I kinda hope they stop introducing new characters, mostly because I just really really enjoy the Prez and Soras dynamic, they're written super naturally together and they just shouldn't be written that well.

Also I mentioned a little bit I think, but the girl Sora likes is just I don't get why Sora likes her and that is basicalyl my main issue with the series because his unphasing love for her just feels unnatural in later chapters, sure in early chapter like first volume I can accept it, but during the 2nd Volume + it just kinda feels forced. Seems this is changing maybe in later chapters (sorry for minor spoilers but like they're not really)

Overall this manga seems like it should be complete ass and yet it has really good writing and equally good art. The main couple has amazing chemistry and stuff actually happens, with actual character development and relationship changes etc, which I guess shouldn't be a shock but after so many mangas especially in the romance genre stuff only happens every like 50 chapters, while here in 15 chapters it feels like stuff has actually happened and their relationship makes sense. If anything my only real complaint is that theres not more chapters because this is really good.

Also I feel it's important to note that this is areally stupid manga and the love triangle (+?) or whatever it is, is stupid yet again it's really good at the same time? idk how honestly. (Also the MC being called Sora made me laugh being a big KH fan. and yes I know it's just a regular name but still)

This is an amazing manga that I will recommend first. You can feels tense and funny at the same times. It's not only about their romance story, but also showing us how people want to get peace. This manga tells us how nice it would be if racism and hostility between races did not exist in this world. and of course, a romantic story of two people whose countries are on ceasefire.

If you already read or watch any romances and school genres of anime/manga. you will like this because it is takes a new atmosphere for this genre where the situations in the story could ... happen to you too

Okay, let's get this Murim Login review started! I'm a cultivation manhwa connoisseur, and this one... it's got something special. Imagine Solo Leveling, but if it actually made sense and didn't treat its side characters like cardboard cutouts.

So, Murim Login. Hunter world? Check. Murim world? Double check! It's like mixing Red Bull with your ginseng tea – that extra kick, you know? And our boy Jin, our MC, he's not your typical goody-two-shoes. He's got flaws, he's messy, and I can appreciate that. Shows he might actually grow a personality later, which ain't true for half the MCs out there. Murim Login is basically ... Solo Leveling's smarter, better-looking cousin.

Now, don't get me wrong, Most power fantasy manhwas are great, but their pacing too fast at times. Meanwhile Murim Login sometimes feels a little slow. They actually try – gasp! – developing characters with proper storylines. It's a miracle! A refreshing change from the usual manhwa speedrun plots. The art? Look, it's pretty standard manhwa fare, nothing groundbreaking.

So, my final verdict on Murim Login? 9/10, would recommend! A wild ride and definitely worth your time. Now excuse me while I go find more hidden cultivation gems.

It's full of tropes of manga and romance in general like everything that Go Ikeyamada writes. It's very fun to read and this manga is my favorite of all the manga that Go Ikeyamada writes, it's better written throughout. It may sound or look like boring/cliched stuff and nerd stuff like everything that the author usually does. There's lots of romance in it to enjoy, and sad moments too... I kind of feel relatable to Azusa's character a bit, I found the story very enjoyable to the point where I was laughing and getting the great heart-throbbing feeling I love getting from shoujo manga and ... anime. I loved to read this manga very much, and definitely re-read it. I suggest you do not read anything from Go Ikeyamada. Her art is basic, cute, sexy, etc well some of it was all ecchi/sexy stuff... i can't thank Go Ikeyamada enough for making this manga, hope that i can find more manga like this and very enjoyable like this one again.

I write this review as per chapter 136 published by official translator. This is light spoiler review, because it neccesary to tell bad thing and good thing.

Talk about the story, the story itself is full of betrayal, conflict, sadness, depression and so many other thing involve around it. There is good time when they are talking to each other, laugh etc but it takes so much panel which i think its kinda filler. Story start with conflict and plot running around that conflict which loom into conflict and again and again and again. The good thing from story is the ambition to want something even ... do something bad thing, The bad thing from the story is way too many plot twist, plot twist is good but in reasonable amount, but for this one, there are ALOT OF THEM, example there is plot twist in this chapter, next chapter, another plot twist and so on so on. Reader who are not veteran of reading wont catch up in this type story. Its unpredictable which make me read till the latest chapter. I originally also anime watcher and decide to read because S3 wont happened any point and i also lose the hope so i just binge with manga.

Talk about character, this is the problem, everyone here are childish, i know the world already mess for around 8 years, everyone just like kid. beside demon army high ranking and vampire high ranking/noble. The problem is main cast is so childish despite living in hell everyday, it should make them mature faster than normal kid today.
Yuu which our beloved mc who are have bad backstory, is so childish, naive and empower by power of friendship. Everytime i see him, he always like, yea u kill my friend, i forgive u, yea u kill people, okay i forgive u. I mean come on, really bro?. Next main cast, Shinoa, which u can said "female lead" yea she is, the story itself always flag her as female lead/ love intrest, u know something funny, Yuu himself (male lead) like Mika more than Shinoa despite she is confess him like many times (i think Yuu think it as a joke, never take seriously because her character also like that) She is strong woman but simp one. No complain but i demand justice for her. Mika, this guy right here, is the most realistic one, mature, always on watch, never trust somebody, train to become strong, and always protect his precious thing. I cant complain about Mika because he is the only character that i root more. Guren, senior of Yuu, HE IS MANIPULATOR, like how many times in the story, he betray everyone, even his friend. Like come on, everyone should sentence him to prison or something, he just roam around like nothing, commit another crime and roam freely like nothing. In this story, there is "provisional gov" which there is law, this guy break way so many law. He is realistic character, indeed but again, like law doesnt apply to this guy.

Talk about the art, its good, the action scene pretty damn good, the angel drawing is hella accurate. I love there are many bibilical reference here.

Overall, its good reading, try it by yourself, at first few chapters, its boring but it gets better chapter per chapter.

The manga featured erotica and an amazing plot idea. It had pretty art, but nothing noteworthy overall. Though it is just my opinion, I believe it would be much better if it were longer. It featured a strong female lead who wasn't particularly a femdom—rather, she was just a bold woman. In my plot analysis, there is a very tiny spoiler, but nothing significant that would ruin your experience.

Plot: This is a story about an undercover police officer who works in a male-only service facility and develops feelings for one of the few female clients. This storyline intrigues me because it raises some questions about ... when she will find out about him being a cop. There wasn't anything particularly noteworthy because this was only one manga. A lengthier manga would have been preferable to develop the plot more. It was good for what it was since it was merely intended to be erotica.

Characters: Not much made Nagisa stand out among the others, but she did appear to be a powerful female protagonist. They both seem like ordinary manga characters overall, but I don't think it could be done in just eight chapters. They fall for each other at the same time, which is wholesome.

Art: I always end up being fond of manga art, and this is no different! Every male character in the manga has a distinctive body type, ranging from slender to plump. I loved how each character had a unique appearance without becoming too cluttered. It was quite captivating, but nothing truly stood out. Still very visually appealing.

In conclusion, the manga offers a brief, yet captivating erotic tale accompanied by visually pleasing artwork. While the narrative is engaging, the overall impression is not particularly noteworthy as I had said before. I think that I would recommend this as it is; nothing special but nothing terrible just a mind-blank kind of read.

I watched the first aired episode of the anime, it was really good and felt fresh. The type of job the main character had was quite interesting to learn about, it felt like a breath of fresh air for the genre. My review is based on 66 manga chapters.

Too bad the story is just reskinned My Hero Academia with hints of other classics of the genre. The similarities are not about the monsters themselves, but the character progression and the characters themselves. Both guys who end up using ice based abilities have the same personality and visuals, for example.

It gets to a point of ... ridiculous, that now i think about all male leads in Shonen being just an author's self-insert in a kid's body. Because in Kaijuu 8 the main lead is a 32 years old man who behaves exactly as every middle school main lead. We also have general cliché, a smart loli with praise kink, whose supporting role is to be a second romantic lead. Then, the love interest is some chick main lead has a childhood past with, but never interacts at all, because she is the end game and their romcom starts after the comic ends, or something. The only time it was fun to observe was Bakuman. Other than that, it is idealization of a crush main lead has and uses as motivation precisely because she is so perfect in his memory and he doesn't know anything about her as a person now.

Reads like story generated by AI based on all popular titles, and polished to look presentable. All the boxes ticked, exactly like Bakuman teached, but it is bland in the end.

Compared to Dangers of My Heart, Kaijuu 8 first episode with a misleading premise doesn't lead to anything better. Dangers of My Heart draws in with obscure premise it overwrites and becomes a cult classic instantly. Kaijuu 8 presents and unique idea from the get go, seemingly, and then shoves it into a standard Shonen box, losing everything that felt interesting in the first part. Makes me recall such titles like Dorohedoro, that were completely strange story wise and may not be exactly fitting the genre, but they actually had a unique personality and were true to themselves from start to finish.

There are A LOT of titles that do the standard Shonen better. This isn't one, it feels too inspired by everything else that came out before it. I genuinely wish I could like it, it is refreshing to have an older main lead. But few chapters in, the guy turns into a Naruto clone. Every single character around feels eerie familiar because it is a reskin of some other popular character. There is a lack of substance and depth, they are all cardboard cut. That will NOT stop the title from being popular, though, because it fits exactly into Shounen.

What a wonderful surprise! Terra Formars is a superb Serie B science fiction manga. Imagine if John Carpenter had been born in Japan, he would have made this gem. This manga is a totally deserved success, even if I find its rating totally underestimated on this site.

It took me too long to try this manga but better late than never. Everything about this title works. From Volume 1, you get a big slap in the face. The themes are all there: action, horror, science fiction, tragedy, drama, gore, war and science.

The manga was on hiatus for years after volume 22, but resumed on 4 ... April 2023! Go for it!

Unlike most narratives with sympathetic villains, Kami no Kodomo doesn't try to justify the protagonist's actions. His descent into violence feels inevitable, fueled by a cocktail of childhood abuse, a twisted sense of entitlement, and a chilling apathy towards human life. The narrative is devoid of flowery justifications – the protagonist lays bare his motivations and depravity in a chillingly detached tone.

This lack of emotional manipulation is what makes Kami no Kodomo so unsettling. We're forced to confront the raw ugliness within the protagonist without the comfort of assigning blame or seeking redemption. It's a story that lingers long after the final panel, a ... disturbing echo of the potential for darkness that resides within us all.

However, in its biggest flaws, the manga is exempt in my concept, religious fanaticism goes very well with a bored idiot multiplying bread. The supporting characters are mere shadows, existing only to illustrate the protagonist's distorted view of the world.

Another one bites the dust - one of the most devastating SJ axes this reviewer has ever personally experienced.

Two on Ice is an ice skating manga, and the artist's style perfectly captures the dazzling motion of pair skating which isn't easy to do with static images. The art style takes pretty major influence from shoujo, specifically during the skating sequences and it's exactly the right choice.

The big problem I have with this one, as mentioned above, is that the axe swung too early for some of the most exciting things this manga had to offer. The primary antagonist has a rich, complex backstory and a ... startlingly honest and human response to his past trauma. The relationship between the main characters has romantic undertones initially, but they read more like very close friends near the end, which is refreshing, but it felt like there was going to be more buildup to the trust they have in each other as partners by the end, and it's a shame we don't get to see how the story line wraps up. In the few chapters before the conclusion, it definitely felt like we were building toward a major arc.

I still really love what this story represented in terms of both theming and art, it just felt like it was very ambitious and was cancelled too soon to fully deliver on all that it promised along the way.

Well, here I am. After looking at this majestic beast from afar for years, I have finally conquered the summit of all manga and read Berserk from beginning to end (so far). I'm gonna do my best with all my own writing prowess to convey my feelings, but I feel like whatever I say will be insufficient. Berserk is an experience to be had and what it truly entails cannot be conveyed with mere words. To put it bluntly though - is Berserk the greatest manga ever made? Yes, without question. It's a literary work that transcends the medium of manga. It's something more. Even ... if you're someone not interested in manga in general, if there's ever only one series you read, let it be this one. The world will never be the same afterwards.

Let's get the obvious out of the way - the art. Berserk is the best drawn manga ever and I don't believe that's a bold statement. While the artstyle evolves and shifts quite a bit over the years, the quality ranges from phenomenal to downright inhuman. The attention to detail is impeccable. Inspired by the woodblock prints of Gustave Dore, the texturing is dense and tangible, you can almost feel the solidity of each material. Characters and creatures are full of life and energy. The sprawling backgrounds, from beautiful mountains and forests, to castles and cobblestone streets, to dense houses, to remote villages, to nightmarish fantastical realms, everything is all enveloping and real, giving the action a real sense of location. And speaking of action, all of this detail does not detract from the flawless fluidity of the movement and unparalleled dynamism of the action scenes. And all of this together is never at the cost of visual clarity, which is among the best ever made. These are qualities that anyone knows and even the uneducated can appreciate at a glance. This is artwork that belongs in a gallery alongside fine art, it's above and beyond the expectations of manga pages.

As dense as the art is, the worldbuilding of Berserk is just as detailed. A fantasy realm ruled by realistic conflicts between rival empires serves as the backdrop in early times. If you love deep medieval fantasy lore, Berserk has you covered for days. Delving into the political intrigue and social struggles is continuously engaging and watching massive armies fight against each other in brutal warfare feels visceral and real. But if that weren't enough, this series is among the best dark fantasy works ever made and after a certain point, the human conflict is superseded by a battle of grand proportions between man and creatures of dreams and nightmares. Containing some of the most inventive creature and location designs ever, a deep magic system and a plethora of both well established and completely unique fantasy races, Berserk is a feast for the imagination, bringing forth countless creative ideas that truly capture the essence of fantasy like so few other works can. The art and writing combine into a crescendo of boundless possibilities that never ceases to amaze. The times you will just stop and stare at what lies before you will be too many to count.

But what if you're not interested in all that? Not the medieval warfare, not the fantastic beasts, not all the bleak struggles. What if you just wants some good ol' fashioned action? Well, good news, Berserk has that in spades. If you want to just enjoy the tale of a big muscular man with a colossal sword fighting giant armies and nightmarish monsters in bloody gory manner, by all means, go for it. As mentioned before, the action is flawlessly fluid, the fights are among the best in terms of choreography and the graphic violence is visceral and detailed with no brutality spared. Without a complex anime-style power system to worry about, you can just sit back and enjoy this beautiful bloodbath in all its glory.

Now, all of this is well and good, but other series can check these boxes too. So what is it that makes Berserk the greatest of all time, what sets it apart from any other manga ever? Well, the writing. For you see, the staggering detail of Miura-sensei's art is rivaled only by the incredible sophistication of his writing and phenomenal storytelling ability. At its core, Berserk is, despite every other element, a story about human struggle. Guided by one of the greatest protagonists ever and filled to the brim with a phenomenal cast of engaging characters, this is one of the most deeply human and relatable stories ever. Every single character is gifted with exceptional profoundness and intrigue, they all have unique story arcs and believable journeys that create a very lived in, real world with a strong beating heart. This world is extremely bleak and brutal, but these people keep going. Among all the unending darkness, it is love, friendship, family and camaraderie that give these people the most strength. No matter if the sun is blocked out, a ray of hope can always be found. The entire message can be summed up in these words - perseverance, steadfastness, resilience. The core theme is about the struggles of man and how, through sheer willpower, one must keep going. No matter the adversity you face, you should never stop trying to put one foot before the other and keep going. That is one of the most universal concepts ever and that's what makes this story resonate with people so well. And what really drives it home is the beautiful way through which this unfolds. Masterfully written, rich with subtext and a perfect balance between action, emotion, drama and worldbuilding, Berserk is crafted with utmost care and every word is carefully considered. The phenomenal, emotionally rich paneling and profound visual storytelling only elevates this to unfathomable heights, into an experience that words really cannot describe. The pacing is chosen deliberately and will consistently keep you invested for every next page. It's truly one of the most enveloping tales ever made.

On a personal note, Berserk was right up my alley from the start - dark fantasy, medieval combat, visceral blood and gore, deep philosophical story. It's like it's custom made for me. I myself dream of being a writer some day and I don't think any other work has moved me or inspired me as much as Berserk. I love how unapologetically dark it is. Easily one of the most dark and gory manga out there, but it's made this way for a reason. To think that this is mere torture porn is a fundamental misunderstanding of the story. The darkness of the world is real and unforgiving, much like our own. But it's shown that this, while it might knock you down, it should never keep you down. Berserk shows you that it's worth fighting on no matter what. And it being so dark just makes me believe in myself more, because these are also the stories that I want to write. Seeing a work like this exist and knowing that it is successful inspires me even more to follow my dreams to the end. And I promise I will do so.

In conclusion, Berserk is truly an experience like no other. I firmly believe that it has gone beyond the medium of manga. Far more than just dark fantasy at its finest, Berserk is undoubtedly one of the greatest works in all of literature. Trust me, I don't say that lightly. It is written with amazing care, like a master craftsman laying brick by brick to build the most formidable fortress. No other work has ever been able to combine highly sophisticated writing, rich in subtext and immense depth, with phenomenal art that captures these moments in flawless visual form. All of this is because the legendary Kentaro Miura is someone that has easily earned the title of a genius. He is a truly gifted man and it almost feels like manga exists so he could make it. Only a man equally as brilliant in art and writing can create something like this. We can only be thankful to be blessed enough to experience it. It is the greatest tragedy that he never managed to finish his masterpiece during his life. And what really breaks my heart is how the love and care for this story can be felt in every page, every panel, every line of dialogue. This man has dedicated his life to this work and every fiber of his being has been embedded into it. This dedication and pure unfiltered love is palpable and you can feel it all throughout. With his passing, the literary world was gravely wounded and the realm of manga lost its brightest son.

However, just like Miura-sensei told us himself, "Death is not an ending" and we must keep going at all costs. The manga is now in good hands and we will get to see the ending Miura-sensei himself intended some time in the future. Until then, this masterpiece remains to be cherished. To say you are doing yourself a disservice by not reading it is a gross understatement. Experience it for yourself, I guarantee you will never be the same afterwards. I can tell you I am a changed man now.
