The only reason I gave it a 6, isnt because its bad by any means, its because it was over too quickly and i wanted more. But it being only 1 hr and 15 min long, everything happened so fast. There wasnt time for character development or to see relationships being built, etc.

overall, i felt like it had a good idea and potential...but i wish more than anything they would have packed this in a 26 ep season or something because i was excited to see where it went, but then it was over. I was just expecting more out of it tbh...

I did love ... how within the first few minutes it cut straight to the chase with the blood and gore and these big hideous creatures....oftentimes i feel like some anime take too long to get to the exciting stuff that holds your attention.

Yatagarasu is the anime equivalent of NHK’s Taiga drama, a historical television series highlighting certain prominent figures in Japanese history every year (the last one I watched was Sanada Maru from eight years ago, highly recommend that one if you haven’t seen it already). The story follows two second-born sons and their political conflicts, one as the crown prince and the other as a servant to the former, during what looks to be the Heian era (per the show it takes place at Yamauchi in an alternate universe). Although the concept of power struggles within the imperial court and bureaucracy in general are not new ... by any means, the portrayal is reasonable, considering that in traditional cultures first born sons tend to succeed as family heirs versus latter born children. Moreover, the addition of the ability to shapeshift into ravens makes the plot more interesting as well. The art style is a bit too rigid for my liking but it works.

It’s certainly a breath of fresh air to see an actual seinen anime that lives up to its tag and not some cliche isekais that are a dime a dozen. This show is easily one of my favorites for the season, albeit not garnering enough attention. If you enjoy period dramas and/or a proper seinen story similar to the likes of Ōoku, don’t miss this one.

I'm not hating because it's a 4 episode recap that had to exist for (supposedly) Japanese TV timeslot reasons, I'm annoyed that it only reminds you of whatever parts they felt like throwing in. It's not cohesive and I could probably find a much more useful recap on Youtube that would be about the same length or less. Or at least I could without irritating copyright BS getting in the way- yeah you can compile clips and talk over it but you're probably getting demonetized if you use too much footage from a single show. So instead we get this.

You had one job. Refresh my ... memory of all that's been happening, maybe remind me of some of the B and C list characters' names. Mission failed. Even some who I thought were semi important aren't here at all.

Still looking forward to S7 but probably don't waste your time on these specials.

It was literally boring, I was so patient until episode 5, but unfortunately, I lost it.

I was able to guess each & every scene, how it was going to take place, how it was going to end and some scenes had the worst graphics, for example, take the crow scene, it seems like it was made for free, not paid.

I hate this anime, story was blunt & not at all interesting, with a lot of unwanted characters & storylines.

An Apt 2nd Season.
A dot connector, the train that takes you from season 1 to 3 with minor but somewhat enticing developments.

As many have said before.

If you've watched the first absolutely loved it, like i did, then hurry up and watch this one.

Why did I love the first one?
This show parodies several popular media creating animation sequences with such unique and ridiculous fighting styles, that you can't help but watch in awe. It's quite simple to understand, the lack of convolution and adherence to game mechanics kept me hooked and immersed.

Most of the enjoyment from this show is watching the overpowered ... MC obliterate her opponents in a unique but clever fashion with her crazy abilities and unorthodox but pleasant character. Watching the abilities and pick-ups be utilized time to time like an actual MMO game, was a joy to watch. Last and not least the humor that is begotten from the priceless reactions of the characters when they are dazzled by maple and honestly, I don't know what they are intrigued by more? her brazen and honest character or her overwhelming power it's quite the amusing conundrum.

Now onto season 2.

- Same Exploring and tournament style Arcs
- Interesting fights, abilities, upgrades etc.
- Generally good animation.
- Fun dynamic between MC and side characters. Creating organic humor
- Steady and relaxing pacing.

Cons
- GM's might be the worst and uninteresting part of the show (they seem to be bots themselves, They never seem to actually want to stop Maple. Their characters seem wasted, I'm not a fan of collective nature of the male ones or the single female unit that scolds them. Their methods are just not compelling.
- Lack of tension.
- Plot doesn't take much of a turn to reinvigorate the viewers interest.
- Interpersonal conflict is far too low for my liking, everyone pretty much gets along, which kills any sort of tension borne from strife or the excitement that a good rivalry can spawn.

The Lack of development of the GMs is a major reason for why I felt this was a step-down from S1 as the novelty has worn of off.
The bosses just felt like walking sponges; taking way too much damage and just existing to be eventually defeated (which is the point) however it just wasn't as interesting or satisfying to watch them go down.

The Art and animation are very pretty in this show, the backgrounds are enticing and colorful. It doesn't disappoint this season.
Sound does the job, nothing to say really, they tried to utilize for some scenes but it just didn't click as well as they'd hoped.

The other adaptions explain the plot far clearer which would have helped me to appreciate some of the events more, perhaps it was an editorial choice due to the difference in mediums.

I think after watching so much anime since the first season released, I have become desensitized to some of it's charms. Thee was just not much progress in any sort of a greater narrative.

As a minor nitpick I greatly disliked the lack of protection and particularly openness of her armor/outfit if she's supposed to be the toughest defensively, but I understand it's an editorial choice for fanservice purposes.

At the end of episode 12 we were left with a glimpse of some rather riveting rookies which may light a spark for Season 3 which will potentially be a major point of conflict/interest in the general plot of this series. In that sense S2 is a connector season, so shouldn't be harshly judged. It parallels the experience of a good MMO where we reminisce of the arduous, but worthwhile grind-sessions in between major Quests. In retrospect this season embodies the aforementioned idea perfectly with a little shift of understanding of the purpose of this season. Nevertheless, I finished it in 2 sittings in contrast to just a single sitting from season 1.

Despite my complaining, honestly I think a lot of series would benefit from a season like this with more care, slowly building up events like this to steadily pace the story rather than the industry standard of quickly plunging the story into utter mediocrity with explosive but vapid developments to in an effort to retain weekly consumers.

It's a good second season, nothing much stood out, I was hoping for a bit more tension, less buddy buddy with everyone and more of an intriguing story. Still a decent watch with a relaxed and cute season, they have secured my view of a third season if I am to watch it by God's grace.

You are likely in the wrong place looking for a typical nekketsu baseball anime like Diamond no Ace or Ookiku Furikabutte. Boukyaku Battery is probably more similar to Gintama rather than to other baseball animes (for now). It's goofy, boisterous, and often comes with not-so-decent jokes and dumb references, but it's one of the very few recent anime that made me burst out laughing (multiple times).

Despite all the silliness, the anime had surprising expressiveness in baseball related scenes. From the formidable first scene in ep.1, to the first-person view from the ball being hit in ep.2, there were multiple impressive and impactful scenes with ... unique camera angles. The interleaving of such scenes created a nice balance for the anime.

While told in a carefree way, the story itself sounds like a heavy one - making me curious about how it's going to unfold. But before that, I'm more than happy to take this as my weekly relaxation.

Somehow, this and Your Name happened to be a watch my non-anime fan family wanted to watch. And, initially, I didn’t feel compelled to watch it since I didn’t want to watch another Your Name. And, well, since it’s been some time since I watched it, well, perhaps my memory’s failing me, but it was notably worse than Your Name.

STORY (???/10)
Pacing was excruciatingly slow. What I thought was the turning point ended up being an hour in. Motifs and subplots lead to nothing. It was worse than being red herrings (like Spirited Away). They had no build up. The subplots were not tied up nicely, ... nor had any basis to exist. I don’t know who greenlit this, because this is not writing that would be found in a western children’s movie. No, it wouldn’t even be found in 7/10 anime known for its inconsistent writing.

ANIMATION (9/10)
Animation was, unsurprisingly, their main strong suit. As a stickler of bad 3D, it blended in nicely with the rest of the animation, making it much more bearable than other writing. Nothing stuck out weird and it was beautifully done.

SOUND (6/10)
Well, the music was decent, but not as hard hitting as in Your Name, which I can’t exactly blame Radwimps for. The theme song, Suzume, came only once, without any of the lyrics despite it being the title song practically. In a lot of anime, I can pick up on music and be like “wow, that really is catchy” but the only cool thing was a jazz-like song, which, was, unique, but didn’t mesh with everything else. The SFX sounds were smooth, even if the content that was being shot was questionable.

CHARACTERS (5/10)
Wow, were the characters ordinary. Even by anime archetype standards, we have a pushover who suddenly dislikes their only family member, and a hardheaded college student who seems dumber than rocks. And, for the other main character/rival/antagonist thing, they seemed to exist to force the story forward rather than explain their existence. Which, was how the other two main characters felt like to me. Especially toward the ending, MC was not only an idiot, but a selfish idiot. And that was praised for. I felt Emily in Paris (for our non-anime fans) level of awful. And, somehow, Belle’s MC had better character development than whatever we got here.

OVERALL (5/10)
If you want a typical anime movie that does the typical things and tries to do too many things at once, but fails at successfully doing any of them in the whole 2 hours, go for it. But, if you need a starter anime, just go for Your Name (even though that has its own set of issues). Or even the first episode of Oshi no Ko while you’re at it.

Well, I now have a reason to avoid this studio and be wary of their stuff. Which sucks because their animation is S-tier. But, if the story is awful, then, the animation is wasted on it.

This movie is a recap of the first three seasons. Personally, I think its a great recap. It touches on all the important parts of the show while still keeping everything organized and concise. Would I recommend watching this instead watching the show to get into season 4? No. There are a lot of things that were missing that gives the characters their personality and drive. If you want to know what happens in the first three seasons while not wanting/caring to get attached to the characters, then I think this movie is the best way to do so but as a recap in a ... whole, it is well done and well made.

“I would like to lose my memories just to see this movie again” -
Story: 10/10. The plot is both "simple" and unique at the same time. Throughout the story, you'll witness two completely different lifestyles, and how they ultimately converge into a beautiful love story. Without a doubt, you’ll enjoy the slice-of-life moments that this movie offers, and you’ll absolutely love its pace. Of course, drama and romantic scenes too.
Soundtrack: 10/10. This is simple. RADWIMPS did an amazing job. The soundtrack of this movie perfectly complements the plot, and it is magical, relaxing, and amazing.
Art: 10/10. I have nothing to say here; I have ... never seen such beautiful animation before, with landscapes and colors being the most beautiful of all.
Enjoyment: 10/10: This movie will always have a special place in my heart and, basically, If I had known about this movie earlier, I would have watched it sooner. This is the perfect blend of romance, drama, science fiction, and slice of life genres. If you want to enter the world of anime, you should start with this movie.

This is the worst adaptation that I've ever watched

The animation is meh. It makes the show look cheap and do the characters dirty. Those facial expression appeared in my nightmare yesterday. Even the action scenes look like fuckin slideshows. There is no saving grace for this goddamn disaster.

The pacing is just sooooo fucking bad. Although the manga itself has such god facing, the anime ruined it by making every scenes look sooooo slow. They also make the main character Akira talk like a fucking old man. Who tf is his 30s could talk that slowly. This is the main reason why this show is so ... unbearable for me. And because of the stupid pacing, how could I forget about how they ended the 1st episode IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CONVERSATION.

I genuinely love the manga and its author's sense of humor, but this adaptation has ruined it all for me. For your own sanity, please go and support the manga if you found this work to be interesting. Don't waste your precious time for this abomination of a show.

Something is seriously wrong with the shoujo anime industry when season after season viewers are fed with garbage content - Vampire Dormitory is no exception. This show was released to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Nakayoshi, a monthly shoujo magazine serializing various manga series. I used to read Nakayoshi myself when I was a kid (notable serializations included Cardcaptor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth, Sailor Moon, etc). Sad state of affairs if Vampire Dormitory is the best Nakayoshi can offer nowadays.

This anime is essentially a crossover of Twilight and Ouran High School Host Club where a poor girl crossdressed as a guy and sold her soul ... to a vampire for a cheap meal. There was a scene, and I shit you not, that the MC begged the vampire to drink her blood to satiate his hunger since he was deprived of “food” for an entire week and she was worried about his well being; she’s basically his slave and “lovin’ it” - truly sickening but in a way describes today’s society to the T. If teenage girls are the target audience who are supposed to be gushing over this crap, the future is grim.

Visuals - decent; typical shoujo big watery/sparkly eyes, pretty standard for this genre

Sound - forgettable. I always find it silly to talk about the music unless the anime is spectacular because it’s cherry on top, but never the actual cake. There’s no saving a trashy anime even if you layer Joe Hisaishi’s work over it.

Characters - simply a reciprocal slave and master/vampire relationship. However for the life of me I don't understand why the MC feels the need to wear a wig. I mean if you’re going to crossdress then cut your hair like Mizuki in Hanakimi instead of doing this half ass job which seems to be a setup for yet another “heart-throbbing” revelation later on.

Not sure who would actually enjoy this, maybe if you’re obsessed with vampire stories and/or BL (even if the official pairing isn’t BL, the side characters appear to lean that way) you may like it, otherwise not so much.

The tone was really different than the first season.

After an insane clifhanger at the end of the 1st season, it seems that the goal of the writters shifted entirely.
Even the oppening of season 2 was an absolute banger
From a show that was heavily focused on the plot and the mystery, it turned into a more classic thriller. They added lots of fights (smooth ones btw), flashbacks from something we saw 10 min earlier... It's not bad in itself, just really different

Moreover, all the major decisions / ideas that the main characters have don't seem brilliant. They didn't left me speechless. When you ... use something as powerfull as time travel, it is possible to achieve greatness. They don't give to the watcher all the clues that the characters have. Hence their decisions didn't feel entirely natural or justified.

First season was a banger, surprising and new. Second season was classic. BUT if you like fist fights, a little bit of plot with grim undertones, you may like it quite a lot ! Reminded me more Fate Zero than Steins Gate

The show isn't bad at all. It was just disapointing because I had high expectations. I skipped a few minutes because I was bored but nothing terrible.

Never seen an anime making money on Sunk Cost Fallacy as this:
Season 2 part 1 was average because the plot was building up to some conclusions.
But Season 2 part 2 has hit a new low.
With each episode it gets more static and boring.

This is pretty much a mediocre family drama show with barely any fantasy left.
This second season so far has seen barely any plot or even time progress.

Create a banger season 1.

Not only that, they will abuse anyone who states otherwise.
They will berate anyone who doesn't like the current season with numbers (no logic).

I want to clarify that I'm not a big fan of battle shonen, but I still decided to give Solo leveling a shot because the ost is by Sawano. And I think this reason is solid enough to spend 4 hours of my life on it and go out of my comfort zone. Unfortunately, this is what Solo leveling's story never does.

The premise and the world is similar to Gate: there is a modern world and then one day a portal appears connecting our world to a fantasy one, but the fantasy world here never reaches the same depth like it did in Gate, and ... I can't believe I just used "depth" to describe Gate. It's not even a world to begin with, but rather a group of separated dungeons, which disappear after your beat their local bosses. In the attempt to balance out the technological gap, the modern weaponry doesn't work on the other side and it doesn't work because doesn't work. Solo leveling just wants to be an RPG whenever it wishes without thinking of some semblance of coherency. At least Gate had balls to show the superiority of the modern world's army in contrast to the medieval kingdoms.

The main protagonist is no better, he's the weakest among the weakest but during one of his dungeon crawls he receives the ability to level up, learns that others boss him around because he is weak, and now he decides to get stronger to boss them around; yada yada yada, you know how it goes. His character arc reminds me of another rising guy, but this time he doesn't have a shield. Nevertheless, there was a thing in this used-to-be-original-30-years-ago plot that caught my attention. These dungeons are basically under no one's jurisdiction, because frequently occurring deaths in them aren't even investigated and the witnesses are never detained for interrogation. And given the high mortality rate, my theory is that Korean mafia uses dungeons to dispatch people and leave no evidence: their body will disappear with the dungeon after all. And this would be more realistic and original way to use this setting, because people would likely do sketchy things inside the dungeons like cooking meth, or casinos, or inside trading, or making fun of BTS fans instead of playing IRL D&D.

Since animation is handled by A1, I had high expectations. From my understanding the show was animated by the same team who did SAO alicization and if this is the case, they have gotten significantly better. The animation and visuals are now consistent to the point where I couldn't know the cg elements from 2D. Alicization had many cool moments but the main flaw was cg enemy crowds, which were without doubt absolutely terrible. Sawano's craft this time is definitely far away from his best works, but that's just a sad state of anime OSTs where Sawano has no one to compete with but himself.

I could write something about the side characters as well, but even though I've just finished Solo leveling it feels like it has been 2 years, and this perfectly summarizes the quality of the writing. In conclusion, I expected good animation, Sawano's music, and a forgettable story and I got good animation, Sawano's music, and a forgettable story, so I wasn't disappointed. It's also poetic that the same studio that did Sword art online, which became a flag-bearer for dozens of generic shows, are now doing Solo leveling, which is an inspiration for dozens of generic manhwa.

If you're like me and love the Spy x Family show, then the Code White movie is just for you. Since this film is a side story to the main series, this Spy x Family: Code White can be enjoyed by really anyone, whether you've kept up with the anime/manga, or if you haven't been following Spy x Family. This movie does a quick overview of the current state of the Spy x Family story to keep both new viewers and fans alike fresh on what's happening with the Forgers.

The writing itself is very much streamlined with the show which is great if you've been ... itching for more wacky silly fun from Anya, Loid, and Yor. The slice of life elements of this movie do a pretty good job at entertaining us with the goofiness of the Forgers that fans of the show would be all so familiar with going into this film, while also laying out what makes these characters so loveable and enjoyable to follow for those who haven't seen the show before.

Since Code White is a movie, I assume that the budget given for this film is higher than your typical Spy x Family season, which is evident in a few scenes sprinkled throughout the movie. There are a moments sporadically placed throughout the runtime of the film where it really did seem like the animation team was allowed to go all out and deliver something really pleasing to watch, and something that they probably wouldn't have been able to do in the flagship show.

As fun as this movie was, there was a slight drawback that I had, that being the ending. I get that Spy x Family: Code White is meant to be a non-canon side story meant to please the appetite of fans of the show while also potentially drawing in new audiences, the story does feel a little bit... pointless. I'm not gonna spoil much, but there was a moment that does pass by very quickly that kind of made the entire journey a little bit meaningless. However, it's not enough to hold back the film since the whole point of this movie is to have the main three characters spend more time as a family. That is the core foundation of this series, and this movie is very much streamlined with that narrative.

Overall, Spy x Family: Code White is a fun movie that can be viewed and enjoyed by anyone. If you need something to feed your insatiable appetite for Spy x Family, then this movie will do just that. If you're someone that hasn't seen the show before, then this movie will serve you just fine, and maybe even convince you to check out the rest of this anime

This is my first time writing a review, and I've read the manga so I will most likely be somewhat biased.

The show is okay. That pretty much sums it up. While the source was generic, the character relationships and fun, cozy vibe set it apart somewhat. On the other hand, the anime rushes through the pacing and cuts out fairly important details just to get to the next major plot point.

The art is fairly generic, but it's pleasant to look at. The animation is fairly lacking, but it's good enough. You won't see flashy fight scenes, but it does the job.

This is NOT ... a SAO clone. Unfortunately, the way the anime presented it may seem like it is. The cliches do exist, especially at the start, but they should get less and less common as the story progresses. The death game part, while seemingly redundant, is important for the protagonist's development later on. The anime most likely won't get to that point though. The pacing has gotten better in episode 3, so hopefully it stays that way. The manga starts out slow, but picks up after that. The anime seems to plan to rush through the start, which I don't particularly like but we'll see how it fares.

Overall, it's a fairly generic show with decent animation. The main appeal is the relaxing, fun slice of life atmosphere of the character's adventures with the rest of the cast. Plus, it's always fun to see someone completely overpowered beat things up. If you're looking for a unique, deep plot or similar you won't find it here. I'd recommend it if you just want another entertaining show with a fun cast and don't mind it being generic.

What could've made this one amazing?

A girl and her brother are stuck far away from their home, while an 8.0 series of earthquakes hits Japan. It's such a simple premise, but instantly something I gravitate towards. Think on the potential for a survival story, for a real questioning of people's morals, and a true analysis of the state of society upon a true, natural cataclysm. However, the series chose to be too hopeful.

I'm not one to desire only horrors unleashed on a series that attempts to be hopeful. It's okay if what it wants to tell, is about the good in people, in how ... petty problems don't matter much in the midst of a natural disaster, or bigger problems than a sibling's fight. Sadly, I couldn't buy into the story that much. Most of the concerns come from the pacing, and how dragged out some episodes are. For an 11-episode story, it could've been a million times better by removing 2–3 episodes, put that budget into bettering the animation, that intrusive music? Cut that stuff out. Let the silence reign free in a realistic story.

There's SO MUCH emotional manipulation with the music. Not to a point where a song enhances the scene, but it feels like the creators didn't trust a scene, and put the song so it filled out the emotion needed. There were tense scenes, filled with atmosphere, or a sense of sadness… and the song cut in, and I was out. It's like an intrusive reminder to “be sad”, “be tense”. Maybe the music was just not that good. Animation I can forgive a little more, since I get it. It isn't a super-inflated budget. It's an anime series that tries its best at what it can.

I do like the characters, though. Plotholes aside (Like the Mari abandoning a massive priority because “I'm human”), everybody is the embodiment of people wanting the best for each other in the middle of horrible times. It's a nice message, and every single person carries it effectively. The dialogue works, even if they repeat the names of each other so many times that it's exhausting. I'd blame that on the presentation again, since you can tell they're stretching the budget as thin as possible.

Every problem comes from the presentation, and the lack of a proper pacing. It feels like a flawed, 2000s little gem, and that sentiment happens a lot with series of that time. I can't dabble too much on other issues, when they all come from the same place. As a story, it worked, it did tug at my heartstrings, and it almost made me cry at times. Those moments save this from being mediocre, since the emotional core, and the themes on the ending make much more sense. It's a good ending, that's got enough boldness to stand out a little more.

6.8/10. Even if I liked the ending, a touch of more hopeful bleakness would've made this one a banger to remember.

Imagine if Mari and Mirai were the last ones left. Damned to be together, since that's all they can do at this point. A mother with no children, and a child with no family. Fantastic ending if that'd been it.

I discovered this series from a clip on YouTube that's taken from the movie. The style was so unique that it picked my interest.

After watching some of the series, I decided to watch this movie and got disappointed.

The thing is, this movie is rushed and extreme underdeveloped. To fully realize this story you need more time to built these characters, show their backgrounds and develop their relationships. This is something the series does right, even though there's a lot of filler and pointless sidetracking, but that's another review.
Another thing that felt lacking here are the mecha battles. In fact, it's almost absent in this movie ... and the Escaflowne itself is left in the background.

Since the characters are not developed, their motivations feel really weak and shallow. Hitomi and Folken are the ones who suffer the most. Allen don't even get proper screen time.

I really don't know what they were aiming with this. It would be much better as by removing the boredom from the series and making it a short series with the same art style and direction. It's not that the decision to make it more dark is a bad thing, ius just that they don't give the audience enough to be immersed or even understand what's going on with this story.

Watch it for the art without expecting anything else.
I hope they remake this someday.

As it follows the textbook rule of other animanga I've seen which involve revenge, there's a clear establishment of Yuliy's purpose to why he acts the way he does, but his ideals genuinely develop into something pretty interesting with each episode. A few other characters have notable personalities as well. I mean you can only do so much with 12 episodes, but it's still possible to create watchable content within this constraint. I won't sit here and lie and say this is absolutely the greatest thing I've seen in my life, but it accomplishes making do with its runtime telling a story. A special and ... heartfelt one about tradition and its relevance in face of new values, societal injustice and conflict. It also looks like Bungou Stray Dogs, so if you like that aesthetic and want to experience something slightly homey yet welcomingly different, this is a good pick.

Unnamed Memory is one of those occasional romance/fantasy anime that don't lean into any pre-existing tropes, making it a breath of fresh air to watch. At the time of writing this review, only 3 episodes have been released, but it has been a very enjoyable watch so far.

Since the synopsis pretty much says what I would have written for the summary anyway, I won't be repeating it. The anime does indeed explore how Tinasha, the witch, and Oscar, the prince, experience their time together due to the contract stating that they would live together for one year, with Oscar constantly trying to get Tinasha to ... marry him. This results in a very wholesome anime with many hints of both romance and comedy, a duo that can never go wrong. Additionally, I felt that these three episodes so far have been very content-rich, meaning that the watch felt satisfying and wasn't just a lazy exposition dump- something that's increasingly hard to find in modern anime.

Now, it would be a disgrace to not talk about the amazing action scenes in episode 2. While it might not have been extremely long, the animation of the fight scenes were gorgeous. The crisp lighting effects of the spells used by Tinasha, the vibrant colors present throughout the entirety of the fight, and the fast-paced action all served to greatly enhance the watching experience. While we're on the topic of animation, the character designs all felt pretty fresh, especially the designs of the witches.

Quickly moving on the music, both the opening and ending themes have a very slow and relaxing tempo, making it a calming prelude to a calming show. This highlights what I think your expectations watching this show should be. In my opinion, you shouldn't watch this show expecting a nail-biting thriller leaving you on the edge of your seat, but rather a soothing anime that helps you wind down and relax.

Overall, Unnamed Memory hits all the right spots for me, making it so that even though it doesn't really stand out in any way, it does everything it has to right, making this a solid must-watch for me.

Until now (ep 3), the pacing feels really rushed, the characters don't have a lot of depth and we are not given a lot of context to the story. This is probably because I read the manga and that I'm mad over the anime skipping the whole Temis plot and this sets a lot of character for Tinasha and why she's so feared as a witch. We also get to see Tinasha and Oscar's relationship develop which is totally lackluster in the anime. I want to emphasize again that the fact that the whole arc is missing is terrible.

In terms of chapters, the moment ... where Tinasha departs for Druza's magical lake in chapter 9 and in the anime, that's in episode 2. Again, Oscar not explaining why he's just blatantly stopping Tinasha just gave me a yucky feeling and then having that assistant explain why tf this place is dangerous feels like lazy writing. And then, if we look at the manga, there was an important part where Tinasha explains that she has a lot piercings to restrict her powers and she has those off in that scene of the manga. She was also carrying a lot more equipment in that scene and we got to see her a lot more in the manga, so we could actually see that something was wrong. On the other hand, we hadn't seen much of Tinasha, so I didn't even notice that she had more equipment and it made me feel unpleasant that Oscar is just overprotective (without knowing the actual reason). We also get to know more about the danger of lake Druza because it relies on the Temis plot as well.

Anyways, I have a lot more things to add but this will be way to long. I stand for Tinasha & Oscar so pls read the manga :9

People that dislike fanservice must NOT watch it lmao.
I mean, in a way it's interesting because it's like a meta commentary by the authors, saying: we deliberately don't put fanservice in the normal story but this is to show you we're very well capable of it.
The thing is, this ain't fanservice, it's straight up hentai. Meaning not only excessive but even bad looking (the anime aesthetics and animation style are objectively not really fit for that kind of visuals in my opinion).
I was flabbergasted and I'm really thankful this is separate from the series I know and love, which does feature spicy innuendos ... but in a tasteful and funny way.
The only thing I personally enjoyed about this episode was Shirogane desperately trying to remain virtuous and not admit his lowly desires like Ishigami lol.
The second part with the "Masterchef challenge" was ok but I never really laughed, probably also bc I was still jaded about the previous part.
Altogether a small, weird treat for the fans, but not worth watching.

Elves have been a part of fantasy-based pop culture for quite some time now and in all this time no one had thought about making a story about the longevity of elves and how it affects their relationship with other races and society. Sousou no Frieren does exactly that! It tells the story of an elf after she has achieved her greatest feat with her human and dwarf companions.

Plot: The anime for majority of the time is a slice of life anime, but there are some subplots that make the anime a more thrilling action spectacle from time to time. The anime for me ... feels like a mixture of Mushishi (calm and quiet with lots of ambience), sometimes it feels a bit like a Ghibli and Disney film (lots of sweet emotions with swelling music) and sometimes it feels like a slice of life anime where the protagonists just handle day to day tasks.
However, the plot sometimes falls down for being a little bit too convenient like Himmel is presented way too perfect and knows exactly what to say to everyone, the ring finding spell or Ubel’s spells. It feels the stakes aren’t really high for the characters in the anime.

Art/animation: I really like the colors in the anime, almost every object has sunlight shining over it to give it that slightly yellow tint. The artwork looks colorful and vibrant while being calm and mellow. It kind of reminds me of Mushishi a lot. The action scenes are decent, they have chaotic magical explosions firing off that look fun to watch. Big plus point for the two outros, they both have non anime style that looks really mesmerizing.

Soundtrack: The soundtrack is made by Evan Call, the same person who made Violet Evergarden’s soundtrack. The music is celtic folk inspired orchestral music which suits the theme very well. I’m listening to the Ost as I write this review and the music is very dynamic. It has very quiet parts and very loud parts. Because of the slice of life nature of the show the soundtrack is a little forgettable but that one action theme is pretty dope “Zoltraak”. The sound design is pretty spectacular too, again it sounds a lot like Mushishi with great ambient sounds of animals, water and wind. While action scenes have that huge subwoofer energy.

Final verdict: Frieren is a spectacular anime that explores a new plot in the fantasy realm that should’ve been done years ago. The Sound and visuals are top notch, but the plot might seem to be too convenient at times. I hope the show goes here like how Attack on Titan went from S1 to S4. If Frieren manages to make a bigger world with a more robust magic system and lore, it will truly be one of the greatest anime of all time.

Rarely do you get a show that has that sense of completeness, that je ne sais quoi that's currently lacking from mainstream anime. Everything is overambitious, overproduced, and overhyped, and forgotten by the time the next new shiny thing comes out. Consumed and discarded by the unenlightened masses that are fed seasonal shows by brainwashing algorithms and ragebait discourse.

This is different. Based on the vintage classic "Kuso Miso Soup" and entirely funded by the people, this 30-minute tour de force manages to gently yet firmly whelm the viewer with sodomic imagery. A true testament to how you can joke anything into existence. Is it two ... decades late? Possibly. It exists now and that's what counts. There's a warning at the start that this isn't suitable for children under 12, which I can attest to, it's all tastefully censored with roses, except the stock blood spray effects in one part. I'd watch this with my children.

The OVA is split into three chapters, the first one being a fairly faithful adaptation of the classic manga and the other two being essentially fanfiction that becomes increasingly baroque in its plot. The gaping plot holes remind me of lustrous days of yore when I'd click on a link and have my eyes blessed by a gentleman displaying his rectum to the world. The theme song can't be used to kill smaller creatures instantly. One of the VAs is the director with a voice changer. The climax is.

Some scenes use antialiasing for the characters, some don't. The backgrounds are mostly 3D with a shitty shader. For some shots, AI generated backgrounds are used, which I would usually be against, but I have to admit it adds a certain tinge of trashiness that wouldn't have been possible years ago. The generation is reminiscent of what it looked like a while back, with shapes melting together. They use 3D models sometimes and what I'm pretty sure is a dance animation that comes prepacked with some 3D animation software, it looked familiar to me at least. Objectively, it's awful. It works, in way.

Suggesting this, I felt like Mort from Gunshow's Anime Club chapters pulling out his copy of Smegma Princess, if anyone remembers that. I recommend getting a similar constellation of characters in your viewing party for maximum lulz. This is a future classic fresh out of the oven and I implore you to watch it so in a decade you can brag about how you had the luxury and foresight of having watched Shin Yaranaika when it was new, it will one day stand among the greats like Cipher, Hametsu no Mars and Eiken.

Is it good? No. Is it fun? Maybe. I had fun.

While I went in with low expectations How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω turned out better than I expected. I wanted something lighthearted and easy to digest. This anime certainly is both of those things.

It was surprisingly entertaining despite the weak plot. Overall it had a nice and simple “let’s go on an adventure” vibe that I could get behind. The main character Diablo and his group visited a variety of places and fought different enemies while working on a quest of sorts, and it all felt very casual. In a way, it reminded me of a theme park with all the various ... rides, or in this case social obstacles and new shiny cool things to show off.

Of course the main character was still overpowered, something I don’t particularly care for in general, but there were a few adversaries that at least gave him a bit of a rough time. This did make matters more interesting. None of the other characters are much more than cardboard cut-outs with one or two personality traits, but that didn’t bother me too much.

There’s still a lot of suggestive themes and decidedly ecchi harem content in here, which isn’t entirely unexpected, but it seems to take more of a backseat than it did in the first season. Depending on your tastes this may be a good thing or a bad thing.

The visuals seemed a bit lower quality at times than in the first season. I didn’t particularly care for the OP or ED, but the general background music was perfectly fine. It definitely worked to enhance the tone and atmosphere of certain moments.

The voice acting overall was good, but I would like to call particular attention to Shera’s VA, Serizawa Yuu. You see, the series already feels a bit over the top, and the way Shera accentuates that with her “dumb blonde” act really works very well, especially when it comes to the ecchi scenes. In fact, both Diablo and Shera’s VA felt like they had a lot of fun with their roles while recording.

Overall, it really feels like this series doesn’t take itself too seriously and doubles down on some of the aspects that give this anime its charm. While I can’t in good conscience claim that this is a good series, I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy my time with it. You can simply turn off your brain and relax with How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω.

I didn't watch this for a long time because it's premise was too familiar and overdone. I thought this was going to be another over the top power fantasy where the "weak hero" ascends in a few epsiodes to a demigod in their respective world like in Slime Tensei.
Instead the show does a great job exploring the struggles of a new form, focusing on how simply socializing would be a huge challenge given the main characters new situation. This story takes it's time to really flush out an interesting world and introduce us to a ton of mysteries but still ends ... in a satisfying spot. Lets hope they give this a proper second season beacuse this show was great!

I'll be honest.
I thought this anime would be like Tokyo Revengers, with its delinquent theme. But where Tokyo Revengers lost me on the first episode, Wind Breaker had me reading the manga up to the latest chapters. So when I finally watched it, I was not disappointed.
This was a very faithful adaptation to the source material.
The voice castings for the characters are truly amazing, as most of them happened to be some of my all-time favourite voice actors.
The opening is spectacular! I have it on my playlist as Natori did not disappoint with his music.
The visuals are what you would expect from CloverWorks. ... The backgrounds are pretty neat, the character close-ups look amazing and the fight scenes look nice.
However, this does have some issues with characters and dialogue here and there, I've grown fond of the show.
While heavily flawed, Sakura is a great character as he learns more about something with every experience and fight.
In my opinion, this anime is about the power of friendship done right. You cannot rely on your strength alone in a brawl, or life in general.

If you're reading this, I'd dare to assume you're planning to watch this anime or are still deciding whether you should watch it or not.
I'm going to give my opinion, though I'm not a professional reviewer.

Plot

In this (almost) 27 years old anime we are unfolded the history of Akari and her efforts to reach her dream, her goal, achieved previously by her mother. Shy, honest and caring Akari isn't your average op character. You could even say she's mid in terms of power, agility, speed etc. But she makes up for it with her heart. Despite that, she does grow in the anime, both as ... an athlete and as a character, together with the other participants who inhabit the same dormitory as her. Together they go through mischievous mishappenings, where they redefine friendship, struggling to be better and so on.
In my opinion, the plot was good, but didn't really deliver. Perhaps it's because I'm not into this genre.

Characters

As you can imagine, here we have the usual bunch: The angry, the deceiver, the energetic, the stoic and so on. They do go through personal growth, although it's not very noticeable. The main character doesn't over-occupy the screen, leaving space for the other characters to shine, so that the viewer can get familiar with them. I really liked the designs of the characters, but more than that I loved the voice acting. It's really well done.

Animation

As I previously mentioned, the anime is 27 years old. But despite the age, the art is good. It's not the best, but it gives that nostalgic feeling. Personally, I'm into retro and that's why I mostly watched this. The voice acting got me hooked to it. And that's about it.

Summary

I'd like to say that this show is for you if you're into sport and classical troupe. It's not the best , but it's further from being the worst. Even if you're not, it can be enjoyable.

Thank goodness this kinda anime getting full course anime treatment. There are many manga out there with realistic artstyle but when come to animation thats sucks like huse-husband, God of R Etc. At least it have popper Animation.

Who would have thought that this anime would get a second season, thank you to everyone involved in making this second season.

In the second season, I didn't really like it, because it was related to religion. Moreover, Diablo is considered a God, I don't like that.

Even so, I still quite like this anime, especially the part where Diablo kills the enemy with lots of girls, This part should have been made more dramatic and epic, so that loners like me would be satisfied, lol.

For the opening song, I was quite surprised by the song like DJ, I really like this song and often play the ... song.

For the rest, I think this anime is quite boring, both in terms of the storyline and the characters themselves.
Diablo hasn't changed much from its first season, so the comedy and Tsukomi I'm a little tired of seeing.
I hope there is a third season with more quality and interesting stories.

There’s BAD and then there’s REALLY BAD.

“The Harem tag is missing.”

The first episode looked promising, the rest was a waste of time, honestly. An isekai with the MC NOT starting out as a human but as a goblin. Sounds catchy right?

Unfortunately, the anime fails to fully portray this concept in a good light. He gains new powers we won’t remember every time we blink and the episode runs through so fast with 4 different things happening that look pointless… and then it ends? Like why did that even happen?

All it has going for it is cringe plot armor. Would not recommend.

Here's the thing. Just because there's some bad parts (even some i had to skip) doesn't mean we can't enjoy the parts that are good.
I knew this would be a very memorable anime early on. The author has guts. They do things other authors would be too scared to do. Some of it I can't endorse.
If this was live action it would be in violation of child porn laws. I mean they sometimes use children as sexual eye candy.
There's a few disturbing scenes but most of the sexual stuff is just hilarious. If you enjoyed the perverted humor of naruto and dragon ball then ... you'll laugh at this even more since they take the perversion to the next level.
Also, just an all around solid show in every other regard.

Some of the characters are flawed in disturbing ways. That is a great thing because it makes them interesting and different from what i've seen in other shows.

The action is fast, snappy and badass. I've watched enough anime that i'm bored of drawn out fights.

Much of it is slice of life and that's good because I was looking for something relaxing. It's an escapist anime. Lots of fun times.

I had to skip some parts because I really dislike Sylphiette. I don't like her shy personality. Her awkwardness at the end of season 2 is just unbearable.

Got some good elements of Frieren, dragonball, sword art online.

From the positive message of how learning new languages can bring you closer to other cultures, to how when someone can't experience much in the world, they will find someone who will show them. The animation contributes to this romantic and soft tone, and the music gives each scene an incredible score. Looking at their lips and corresponding that with what the voice actor(s) are/is saying is such an amazing detail.

I love the way Yuki describes each person's signing. Comparing Oushi's as more tense because he was withholding his anger to prevent lashing out in front of Yuki. And Itsu's animation had calmer movements even ... though he is a beginner; showing how comfortable he was with her.

This series also doesn't contain much drama, which I love. There can be a healthy relationship between a male and his female friend(s) from middle/high school. And if that friend finds someone, there can be jealousy, sure. But not in the toxic way we see in other drama series. What a mature and refreshing way of keeping the romance alive and tension still present. Shin liking Emma wasn't a surprise. But I respect his patience, for sure. Everyone's reactions towards each other may blow up later due to tension. But I believe Itsu will back Yuki throughout this entire series.

Itsu is perhaps one of the least toxic characters in a shoujo anime (that I have seen so far...) His loyalty to Yuki is beautiful. The way he talks to her, respects her space, doesn't force her to do anything, and lets her decide. My hope is for another season of this. It's too good not to. The manga is on chapter 42 now. This animation is about half or a little below by episode 12.

Maybe the best anime of all time. I'm not sure what the 10-or-so negative reviewers are smoking, but after you've watched a decent amount of shonen, seinen or shoujo anime, LoTGH comes in as a refreshing change of pace, and is extremely easy to binge. For someone like me who often judges too harshly, too quickly, the beginning definitely left me with doubts. But by the end of the series, I was absolutely ruined that it was over, and in love with many of the characters.

The characters are easily the biggest draw to LotGH. If, like myself, you have a particular itch for ... strong, realistic, rich characters in your anime, then you should stop reading this review here and go watch the show, because LotGH is as detailed as anime characters get. The cast of LotGH are down to earth and complex, and do not suffer from archetypes which make them too predictable, where other anime would falter.

The show itself doesn't often rely on novelty or twists to keep the story interesting: instead it gradually builds up character arcs, maintains a consistent sense of suspense about the fate of the characters, much like a Game of Thrones does. And sure, there are many climactic moments throughout the series, but you'll find that unlike many other anime which rely on novelties to carry the audience's interest, with LotGH, the journey becomes just as interesting and meaningful as the many "high points" the series has.

It's also fairly politically literate and accurate, which you would hope for in a political drama. As someone who is on the far left side of politics, I found that the show generally didn't come across as distasteful or stupid, which is something of a rarity when it comes to series centering on 'war' or military drama. Of course there is some amount of glorification of war, but it's mostly counterbalanced by the horrors of war the show details. Instead, the all-consuming war is the playing field for different characters to express their personalities and ideals.

Overall a huge recommendation for fans of political drama, strong characters and series of grand scope. If you can find the time to get some snacks, get cozy and regularly binge this series, you won't regret it.

To the other reviewers who are yapping about Ryuu being different from the 2006 anime: READ THE MANGA! This adaptation is way closer to the original and, yes, Sasakura Ryuu is a silly airhead when he's not working. That's what makes him as a character work for me. The 2006 anime took the episodic approach and removed basically all of the story and character development except the client stories. It was cool, ngl, but there's so much more to Bartender, and this version of it seems to take all (or at least most) of it. Ryuu is more than a cool placeholder behind the bar ... counter, he's a character with a full personality: a genuinely kind and caring airhead with a smidge of a dark past (won't go into spoiler territory) he has overcome but professional and competent at his job. Miwa is also more than a placeholder for a couple stories, and in the first 4 episodes there's already been glimpses of that.

Overall, if you like slice of life episodic stories linked together by a leitmotif of character development of the main cast, this anime is for you. If you're interested in cocktails and fictionalised history of alcohol, this anime is for you. If you loved the original manga, this anime is for you.

If you want action/adventure? Choose something else. If you want romance? Choose something else. If you want a cardboard cutout "cool" main lead? Choose something else.

This show has a crystal clear intended audience, one that does not align with my personal preferences.

Undoubtedly, the standout feature of this series is its dynamic and captivating fight sequences. Characterized by a rapid pace and imbued with a sense of magic, they are the series' crowning achievement. Unfortunately, the animation quality outside of combat leaves much to be desired, bordering on the verge of being unwatchable. It's a newish studio, so poor CGI is not exactly unexpected, but still disappointing.

For those who critique Tensura's extensive world-building, the absence of such elements in this show may be a welcome departure. The narrative thrusts viewers into ... a magical realm with little explanation of political structures, economic systems, or the underlying principles of magic. This narrative choice simplifies the creative process for the author, allowing for spontaneous developments that seamlessly integrate into the storyline.

Next up, this anime definitely must be labeled Ecchi. Make no mistake, It's completely fine to have random ecchi scenes here and there with no plot relevance whatsoever. But please, please tell viewers in advance. Otherwise, you inevitably end up with the wrong people watching your show and complaining about it. Not all love interests are conventionally appropriate, and some in this show are borderline. I'm not here to tell you what's right or wrong but be advised that you may not like it if you are against adults acting suggestively towards kids with luscious tights.

Moreover, the series sends another troubling message by associating magical ability predominantly with genetics. This thematic choice runs counter to contemporary societal ideals of fostering equal opportunities for all. Yet, here we see MC gaining a huge boost in abilities immediately after reincarnation. Needless to say, there are no signs of character development as a result, since he is OP from the start.

This show is for you if you like easy-to-watch, questionable ecchi, magical fights, and OP MCs.

At first the show is kind a bit bland. I almost dropped it. But then once you get into it it becomes incredibly funny. New characters get introduced and create a dynamic little world of social dynamics and you get to see how each character with each of their many interests interact with other characters with the same interests and you really start to enjoy the little inside jokes the world creates. It's too sad a season 2 was never made because I really think they got the formula down and could have made a great second season. But oh well, loved it and recommend ... it to people so long as they can get past the boring beginning.

Sousou no Frieren delivers a heartwarming story with well crafted characters and excellence in all area to back it up. As a slower fantasy anime with a typical world there aren't a lot of action scenes with the majority of the runtime consisting of the main cast of characters interacting with the world around them, slowly delving deeper into these well crafted characters. When the action scenes do show up they feature the beautiful animation which Madhouse is known for, each character having their own style with all the characters involved in fight a battle of wits to counter the opponents magic or swordplay. One ... of few downsides to the show is the vague power system in this world with magic existing as something you are both born naturally talented with but also being able to build upon that magic with training. this training or innateness of magic is never really explained outside of a few scenes with it's application to different spells feeling nonsensical at times as in why doesn't everybody just train in the most efficient way and use the strongest spells. The only other notable flaw is how all the characters react flippantly to information, for the majority of the time all character will stare blankly in response to an event or a question before showing off their personality in the dialogue. This is not necessarily a complete negative as the cliche of over emotive anime reactions every seconds has become a painful cliche Frieren gives a breath of fresh air with their characters but over uses this throughout the entirety of the season. This also does not mean that not character or reaction is shown through expression, it's just more muted than most anime and the characters are still all enjoyable and well-written with plenty of depth.

This anime is an inoffensive addition to the isekai genre - so much so that I’d consider it rather un-noteworthy. The setting and premise is your typical magical fantasy setting, with the mc’s special appraisal gimmick being neither too out-of-place nor innovative. I’d lump this anime into the “junk food” category of isekai because, as of episode 3 when I’m writing this review, everything is progressing mindlessly. There is conflict, but it’s set up in such a way that even if you’re only paying 20% attention to what’s going on you’d realize where the story is going to go. The characters are a step up ... from lesser isekai shows and, while not terribly nuanced, have a set personality and motivations that drive them.

This anime is a bit mundane for my liking, but if you find yourself enjoying isekai stories in spite of how oversaturated it’s become, you’d probably enjoy this one as it really doesn’t do anything wrong.

Arguably, the best and unique fantasy anime that has came out in a while. It's very telling that people initially assume that every new fantasy anime is an isekai including Frieren. With the oversaturation of Fantasy troupes in Isekai, you can't even blame people for coming to that conclusion. However, Frieren proves that Fantasy Anime do not need to use Isekai as a crutch.

Frieren excels in every department, animation, soundtrack, and most importantly it's narrative storytelling. I cannot do justice in describing how great the storytelling is in Frieren. The first 10 minutes sets up all that narrative exposition you need to know exactly ... what this anime is about. Simply put, I think Frieren is a breath of fresh air in an oversaturated sea of Fantasy Isekai and hope for even more anime/media like Frieren in the future.

10/10 Masterpiece is my score because I cannot physically rate this show any higher.

This anime started off as a 6, moved to 7, and finished as an 8.

I’m just going to keep this review short and simple.

I watched the anime because I have been looking for a magic anime to scratch an itch I’ve had for the characters going deep into the magic rabbit hole and learning about it. I did find the anime to scratch that itch but this was not the one (if your curious it’s “I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability”). Another reason was because it’s a high recommended anime in the groups I ... run with.

Overall it is your standard OP Magic Isekai MC with the standard look, but it does have saving points (even tho I don’t mind those standard animes). The first saving point is despite it being the generic look, I’d say of the generic looks this may be the best. The other is the story and characters are unique, well most the characters. There are definitely a lot of similarities between some characters and others and I’m sure if you’re reading this review you’ve seen mention of how it’s similar to Konosuba. However, the impact and relationships of the characters are portrayed in a rather different way giving it a unique feeling. The main source of the uniqueness would of course be the MC with his overly cautious nature.

Overall I do recommend the watch.

One of the anime accounts I am following on X featured 'Bartender: Kami no Glass.' It has awesome animation. I then learned that it's a remake of a 2006 anime, which is the subject of this review. So I decided to watch that first.

Is Bartender (2006) worth watching? It's a yes.

Sasakura Ryuu is the bartender manning Eden Hall. He is dubbed as 'the god of glass' for his ability, not only to come up with tasty cocktails, he is able to create profound changes in the people he serves. In effect, he is like a psychiatrist only that he doesn't prescribe psychiatric ... medications. Each alcohol has a rich history that he relates to whatever challenges his customer is facing.

Compared to the remake, the animation is lazy and has nothing to write home about. But at certain moments, it has good cinematography (good camera angles, framing, and lighting) that highlights the emotionality of the episode.

What it lacks in animation is carried by its good writing. It's a hidden gem. Without knowing of the remake, I might have missed watching it.

Each episode is episodic, and I recommend against binging it. It is best to watch an episode per evening.

I'll watch the remake next, but by itself, this one is worth watching.

The anime is boring, it makes you sleepy. Episode 14 almost made me drop. Archer could defeat Berserk simply by killing his mage. The protagonist gets potential out of nowhere after listening to the archer's motivational message, even though he doesn't show consistent progress with his training. At a super convenient time, he achieves his first success after very few attempts to produce a sword identical to the legendary Excalibur, and manages to tear apart Berserk's several remaining lives with a single blow. Ridiculous.

There are some situations in which the protagonist could have left the chalice fight, but his enemies ... decided to be good and extend it to a next encounter, to have a story.

Man, after so much promise in the beginning the growing number of red flags is becoming concerning for me. Hopefully things turn around going forward because I really enjoyed the premise that was set up initially. Unfortunately, reading the reviews for the manga has left me feeling uneasy for what is yet to come.

The biggest red flag for me is Kafka potentially devolving into a stereotypical middle school male shounen MC with all of his yelling. Part of my interest in his character was seeing a middle aged guy get a 2nd chance at his dream after giving up. If he continues acting too ... much like a child going forward I might not make it through to the end of the season. Children acting like children can get old fast, but having someone that old acting like that is going to get old REALLY fast. He should act more mature than the younger characters, not less so.

I'm also getting more concerned about the world building. Especially that the need for these super soldiers to take out Kaiju won't be adequately explained. Why can't conventional weapons be used against Kaiju more often while being augmented by Kaiju parts? It's still early so an explanation can be coming later, but unless these Kaiju are appearing by magic, or possibly underground, the larger ones should be detected much earlier to prevent them from causing devastation to cities. The only reason these soldiers would be necessary for urban landscapes is to enter areas not easily accessible to helicopters, planes, tanks, etc. that smaller Kaiju infiltrate into. Large Kaiju coming from the sea are easily detectable by sonar and should be intercepted long before they enter a city, same for air based Kaiju via radar. The first Kaiju in episode one literally appeared from a waterway and it was the size of a multistory building. Not exactly undetectable!

Did I mention there is a large domesticated tiger that attacks a Kaiju as big as a house in episode 1? I was hoping it was some kind of domesticated Kaiju they kept locked away, but nope, it just lives in the apartment of the female love interest. Yeah...

Anyways, there is still time for these things to receive an adequate explanation. It is just concerning that the number of questions without answers are rising so fast while the number of questions answered thus far is comparatively low.

Let's do a few positives quickly.

Kafka was mostly good thus far except for the recent aforementioned immature yelling. Ichikawa Reno has been a likable friend thus far. As expected, Production I.G is delivering on the audiovisual aspects of the show. Everything else is mostly still too early to tell right now, so it's not like it's all bad by any stretch. I'm just feeling much more mixed about the series after the 3rd episode compared to the first 2 episodes.

Usually romances of this type end up not giving enough satisfaction to its viewers. They end up more or less cringe or with no progress at all and continued to play on the comedic side of things. Bokuyaba S1 was more of a preview to the start of Yamada and Ichikawa's relationship. S2 succeeded more or less in developing the characters' "self" as well as their relationship to one another. To put it simply, they became more honest with themselves which is very satisfying and somewhat closer to reality. If you want a heartwarming easy to watch anime, you definitely can't go wrong on this ... one as each episode was definitely a ride full of enjoyment where you won't even notice how much you're smiling!!! Bokuyaba is definitely one of the gems of its season!!

it should have been a one-episode OVA. The first episode was pretty good and set up an interesting premise. It quickly went downhill after that. All the character are thin and underdeveloped. They all get one or two traits and that's it. I couldn't tell you much about the main character besides the fact that he hated his job. The story is predictable and ends on schmaltzy bullshit about connections with other people being good and following your dreams, as if you haven't heard that a million times before. There were some good action scenes and creative moments, but the premise and characters are too ... thin to carry an entire series. You'd be better off simply watching a bunch of zombie movies (the good ones, I mean).

The second season felt so much better in comparison with the first season. We got a new face in the team, a good training arc, and a well-written character development. Openings felt for me also much better in that season than that commonly generated anime music from season one. The ending was kinda predictable but it doesn't ruin the show at all.
I feel that even if you aren't into sports anime, you will still enjoy that show because is just enjoyable anime to watch. I'm now really hyped for season 3, so I'm probably gonna just watch it all in two days.
